Swapped out my existing controller housing for the sakura pink shell, and added white buttons with clear joysticks. Works like a dream! No drift, stickiness and super responsive. I will definitely be doing this again in the future.

Had mine for a while now, the grip part has kinda become stained and the thumb sticks are also stained because I use coloured thumb grips but overall it’s perfectly fine, and it takes a lot of staring to see the discolouration anyway. As long as your fingers aren’t covered in chip dust and all yucky it’s fine

Absolutely loved using this kit, went with the snazzy Emerald Green shell with green/purple buttons.
Two tips I found useful when putting this kit together:
1. "Tight is tight, but too tight is broken! - (Don't over-tighten your screws).
2. Putting a small magnet on the end of your screwdriver really helps when taking the screws out.
Thank you for sharing how to swap shells! I got the white shell, which fits perfectly to my oled switch. I never did this before, but everything works fine! Now i have a nice looking controller, that also feels better than the regular pro controller, because of the soft surface of the new skin. I'll most likely do this again, if i buy another pro controller.
I've just done exactly the same! Then used Joycon Toolkit to change the software colour so the Switch sees it as a white controller!

I ordered the exchangeable grips for the pro controller in that red color, and it looks so freaking good! Super minimal but it gave me the red pro controller that nintendo refuses to sell for some reason. I love that it included the necessary tools to do it as well! however, the screws I was sent did not fit the controller properly. This was not an issue as I just used the ones that came with my controller. Thank you ExtremeRate for making console modding so easy and straightforward. Very nice quality products! Yeah, easier said than done. I got my package not 10 minutes ago, with a broken orange screwdriver. I tried using it anyways, took out one screw, and the metal on the tip just disintegrates. I'm giving this a one star review, not because the parts were bad (I liked the shell replacement that I got for the pro controller), but because the provided tools suck and I don't have any replacements. With the amount of good reviews that this product got from other people you would think it would be a better product. I had really high expectations for this product and well... you can see where I'm going here.
I really wish that the orange screwdriver shown at the start was included, it is very difficult to install the shell with the one provided, and its extremely likely you will thread the screw. Its also very hard to get the screws out once you thread them. Luckily i was able to take out the screws and use a better screwdriver to add the shell. Overall the shell is really cool, just the screwdriver is the problem.

@@ExtremeRate I just got ahold of my shells. Unfortunately, I am not able to unscrew the first two screws under the controller. The screwdriver that came with the package has only stripped them, like you had warned me not to do. I'm not sure what to do and if I will be able to swap the shells now.

i had a lot of fun replacing the shell on my pro controller. it was also very frustrating and i had to solve a few problems (buttons taking screenshot or not working) but it was so worth it!

Pretty good tutorial! I got stuck at around 4:13 to 5:13 because the buttons were not clicking when the board was screwed in, but it turns out I had accidently put the button padding (the gummy thing that presses down the button) upside down LOL. The ribbon cable was a little finnicky to get down but I have relatively small hands, so it wasn't too difficult. The tools were kinda cheap though, it felt like the black screwdriver was falling apart at some times but I made it work. Overall a good shell replacement, thank you! Now I'll be able to distinguish my controller and my partners controller hahahah.

I've been told ribbon cables are very scary to deal with theres a small ribbon cable at 3:16 and I'm not sure thats how there dealt with
There is a flippable blocking tab on the flex socket, flip it up to release the flex, and flip it down to lock it. We suggest you use a tweezer during the installation, it will make the thing easier.
Yeah just make sure the ribbon cable pins are fully into the socket and lined up so that they're making contact before you flip down the retention arm to lock it into place. Tweezers or tape can help to maneuver the cable into place.

IS anything suppose to be loose when you put it back together? I'm trying to screw everything back in, but there is space between the screw and the piece. I keep trying to screw it in, but it won't go any farther...

just ordered the sakura pink one! Last year I changed my joy-cons to pink also and had sucha fun and entertaining time! can't recall how long I took but as I see this is going to be easy compared to the joycons!! can't wait!!!

My shell didn’t come with the orange screwdriver, only the black one, and I managed to strip the screws on the grips. Can’t even get past the first step lol, seems like this is a common problem based off of recent comments
my right stick gets stuck to the left after the replacement. Do you know what I couldve done to make that happen? It doesnt seem like there is enough space on the left side of the right stick. Going back and tightening every screw helped a lot. but a full press to the left will get stuck.
definitely you should include the orange screwdriver i stripped the first two screws and now i cant remove them without damaging the original case :/

Good luck! Always remember to deal with the screws carefully and don't strip them. I suggest you find a professional screwdriver kit with different sizes of Philips tips.
I can't get the first screws out for the life of me. The black screwdriver included just strips them despite what the product description says. I've tried using the rubber band trick with no success. What should I do
Sorry to know that. In this way, you have to find a mini plier to vise the screw and twist it out, and this will ruin the handhelds of the controller :(

So I also ordered buttons that are LED. Can I install these new buttons (not activating the LED part) just as you put bsck the original buttons? I want a new color but don’t think my skill set is up to installing the LED part as well whilst doing this. I’m very nervous I’ll break the controller as is lol

Im hesitating on buying a controller shell until a chrome red button kit comes out. That way I can DIY all at once. Extremerate make it sellable already, I've seen the blue button kit video you made for the NS pro controller.

After putting the new shell on..... none of the front facing buttons work (A button captures and one of the shoulders moves right) I'm assuming I might have messed up aligning the ribbon?

Hi! I followed the steps by step tutorial. I plugged my controller in and the orange LED lights up for it to charge. However I can't get the buttons to work 😣. I made sure the rubber membranes was on appropriately, I tightened down all screws (to ensure it was tight so there was contact with the controllers mother board). I did this process 3 times. I still can't get the controller to respond. The cable ribbon is attached appropriately and I endured that as well.
I am unsure what to do beyond this :(. Update: I have the left controller stick to work. So there is a plus :) Any advice? I love the soft pink plastic. It looks beautiful.
Please try to use something (like papers) to help the battery sit tide to make the contact firmly. And you can test it before you screw back the controller back plate. Please keep us updated.

During reassembly my ribbon cable for the shoulder buttons became undone so now those are the only buttons that don't work. Simple enough I can slide the ribbon back into the slot but for some reason it won't fully push into the slot all the way. Is there anyone that can help or offer any advice as to why it won't push all the way in place?

2. Does this void the warranty of the controller?

Does the surface get fingerprints, or does the soft finish wear down with use? I'm thinking of getting this exact one. Nice color and the texture sounds good.
If you choose the chameleon and the chrome series, fingerprints will be collected. And if the soft-touch paints, the duration is at least one year if you store it in a good place that is clean and wet enough
The soft finish definitely wears down with use. I had it for just over a week and it got severely discolored.

Got it all together and everything looks awesome...except the left stick control has my character sort of drifting to the lower left of my screen. Also, moving it to the right makes slows my character down and is not able to run as fast. Its so strange because nothing is done with the stick controls at all when putting this case on. Help!

@@christophertran695 nope, did the calibration etc... My husband said its a Nintendo issue that they haven't ever fixed with their pro controllers.

Recheck the ribbon wires, you may need to replace that board, they are cheap on ebay

@@Speedether They works on most of the controllers. But the pro controller made from different manufacturers, some of them fix the screw tight some are not.

@@itsmevarnami We saw this post before. We test the JIS and it just works like our PH one. So the problem is not really the case. There are another 2 reasons: 1. if you don't use the forward force while you twist the screws; 2. some of the screws were fixed really firm. I think something is wrong with my shell. The home button keeps falling through the slot, the hole is too big.

@@ExtremeRate I took everything apart again, the rubber pad under the capture button was right where it needed to be. I put everything back together and it started working how it was suppose to. I honestly don't know what I did differently lol but I'm thinking it had something to do with the white strip inside of the controller

it depends on your paint, some of them can paint it directly on your plain shell when some of them need to sand it before painting, read the instruction of your paint.

Mine only came with the small black screwdriver. I can't get the grips unscrewed.
As we test, the black screwdriver can unscrew all the screws of the Pro controller. If they sit really firm, please find a PH0 or PH00 screwdriver with a big handheld to do the uninstallation.

Hi! I just recently did a shellswap with the same one in this video. My A button has been been a little sticky and when I checked the sides of the button, there appears to be red paint residue clogging the button. Is there anything I can do besides pulling the controller apart again? Thanks!
You have to take apart the controller again... How about we send you another one set to you in case the current A button residue is too thick to remove?

Thanks! Can’t wait! Just a suggestion: you should offer button kits (INCLUDING JOYSTICK CAPS) in white or pearl! That way I could have a truly NC State Red and White controller. You could do a whole line of shells/buttons that coordinate for college and professional teams! No logos, so no license issues, just the colors needed to match your team!

@@blazikenblast0520 On 06:00 of this video, you will see we plugged the ribbon cable , the blue side is up in the video, please check yours. And it's better that you unplug the ribbon cable and plug it again and then check if it works again.
