    This was written by the English composer Henry Purcell, in case anyone is wondering!

      Isn't the tune just a drinking song called Nottingham Ale?

    Even though I am a Jacobite and curse the Houses of Orange and Hanover, I love this tune.

      Away with your damn popery sir! It has caused us too much strife of late and I fear it's resurgence after the reign of our Dearly Beloved Queen Mary.

    This is beautifully done. It's not, though, 'Trad Irish'. It's very English.

    Beautifully played - seems a shame to have to record a long ago playground version with a refrain 'Rumble and bump, and slide on your rump, Liliburlero, thumpetty-thump!'

    Where's the bagpipe?

    • @colinmcdonald8521
      @colinmcdonald8521 3 роки тому +1

      That's a Swiss or French pipe, not the Great Pipes of Scotland and Ireland.

      @@mikhailpopovic1705 Now, that's the original Breton pipe, isn't it? Still played in Breizh, of course, but these days alongside the better known Great Pipes, the Piob Mhor.

    You do know the words to this? "My Thing is My Own"--a young woman dealing dealing with various men who wantcto have sex with her, despite her wanting to save herself from marriage. Of course, dancing is a vertical expression of a gorizontal intention.
