I tried several methods, but your method produces the prettiest scrunchie. When sewing the tube make SURE you have your needle in your fabric before pulling the tube out so you can continue sewing. That is my tip for a new sewist who may not know to do that. Thank you for sharing your method. It is the best!
Best scrunchie tutorial I've seen so far. I love the seamless edge technique (it drove me nuts to see the stiches with the non seamless way). Subcribed! 😊
Thank you so much! At first I was really intimidated and confused by this pattern, but mine turned out great on the first try! Now I’m going to make lots more to sell at our school’s art market.
I’m a newish subscriber and I just watched this with my 5 year old daughter. When the tutorial was over she said “Mom! She didn’t do 🎶 how much did it cost?🎶” 😉
Thank you very much for the well explained easy tutorial! ❤️ Can you pls share what kind of material have you used in your video to make these Scrunchises?
It's one piece. Imagine an oval with pointy ends, then fold it in half and sew along the open curved side. Obviously, leaving an opening to slip it right sides out. It will be long and skinny.
I know you said you can do any size you want for the strip to make the scrunchie but it would be good/helpful if you could maybe please let us know what size yours is cut to so we have a rough idea? Just don't want it being to skinny/small once sewn up! :)
Hello! This was a lovely tutorial but I just have one question. How do you stitch the last little opening closed? I've been trying to find a nice way to do it but all the tutorials I've watched just skip over it :/ Do you just machine sew it from the outside? If so, doesn't that leave a few stitches visible on the outside? Are there particular settings I should use or a particular stitch? I've tried one using the invisible stitch but that was a bit messy. If you could help that would be amazing!
Yes, seam allowance is half an inch. The scrunchie fabric was anywhere from 2-5 inches wide and approx. 20 inches long. I cut the elastic at 7-9 inches (depending if it was for adults or children). The scrunchies are not an exact science. Materials play into the look as well. Experiment and write down notes as you make them so you can replicate your favorites.
I am having trouble with the scarf part when I try to use it in my hair. How do you put the scrunchie in without getting the tails of the scarf all hung up in the scrunchie. Hope that makes sense. Thank you
@@scrappinkay When you are holding your hair put the tie of the scarf against your ponytail and then begin wrapping the scrunchie portion over your hair. The scarf will already be tied onto the scrunchie. Or you can put the scrunchie in your hair and then slip the scarf through one of the scrunchie passes and tie it. Did that make sense?
Do you have a template for the first bow? I can’t draw and even using those measurements it’s not coming out right. I love this tutorial, it’s by far the easiest, minus the bow 😂
It is just a template I made using the measurements I give in the video. Just draw out those measurements and connect them with curved lines and even if it is slightly different you'll still get a cute bow.
This might read confusing, but I am pulling the tube within the tube. This is difficult to write. My suggestion is to sew the scrunchie and play this video step by step. Do each step and pause. As a beginner there are a lot of trials and errors. Don't be discouraged, just continue practicing. Best of luck!
Off the top of my head, I think 20-22 inches. I cut a little extra because you can always make it shorter. If you cut it 3 inches wide and used half inch seam allowance that will give you a 1 inch wide bow.
I just quickly drew these up. In the video I go over the measurements of the bow. It is easy to sketch it. The classic bow is just a rectangle folded in half and very customizable. The scarf is a rectangle that has a curved line connecting the opposite corners. You fold the fabric in half once longways and in half once short-ways. The folded sides are placed on the straight sides of the pattern. Cut and unfolded it will look like a long eye-shape.
The straight sides are 3x10 inches. Connect them with a curve. Both straight sides are on the fold, so when you cut the fabric it will look like a long eye-shape oval after you unfold the fabric.
If you click settings at the bottom right of the video there is a playback speed setting. Change playback to 0.75, 0.5, or 0.25. You will be able to see it better then. Hope that helps!
Came here to figure out how to sew the long bunny ear ones. Never shown how to. Thanks so much. What do you mean by the straight edges are on folds? Are the edges the only ones sewn? You didn’t fold over the first example so that says that this is folded over and not in two pieces that are sewn together. If they’re done similar to the other one, that implies that there are some differences. What are those differences? Thanks for nothing
PS. The template I use is one quarter of that shape. If you had four of the template pieces and taped them together it would be the full pattern piece.

That is a great tip! My machine automatically stops with the needle down, so that isn't a tip I would have thought to give. Thank you for sharing!

Just made my first scrunchie, and I feel so accomplished 😂. Thanks for the great tutorial!
That is so great! Good job!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful technique! It’s by far the easiest and attractive method.
Best tutorial for scrunchies that I’ve found :)
Thank you so much! At first I was really intimidated and confused by this pattern, but mine turned out great on the first try! Now I’m going to make lots more to sell at our school’s art market.
So awesome! It sure is strange the first time you see it, but it works so well.
Your voice is so soothing and ideas are super cool :)
I love this tutorial. That's very neat the way you did that 'burrito' type thing in the first scrunchie. I'll just go and try it out! Thanks
It is so fun and pretty to make. I hope it works perfectly for you!
Absolutely best scrunchie pattern ever! Thank you so much
.......ESPETACULAR...........
Wonderful! This is so clever! Thankyou so much.

Nice! Can you do a kimono top or raglan sleeve top patterns?
These are sooo cute!! Thank you! I'm on a sewing frenzy😃 do you have a tutorial for hair bands ?😊
Thanks! No, I don't.
Thanks
Super i loved it
You are so pretty!!!!
Thank you for this tutorial, easy to follow. ❤️ New subscriber here.☺️
You're welcome!
Thank you very much for the well explained easy tutorial! ❤️ Can you pls share what kind of material have you used in your video to make these Scrunchises?
You can use almost any kind of fabric. I would avoid thick fabrics. Quilting cotton, challis, silks, linen, or crepes are all good options.
wow!
Can you help with explaining how to create the scarf ends please. Do we need to cut 4 pieces? And on 2 folds?
It's one piece. Imagine an oval with pointy ends, then fold it in half and sew along the open curved side. Obviously, leaving an opening to slip it right sides out. It will be long and skinny.

Try 21 inches long by 3-5 inches wide. 3 inches will produce a 1" wide scrunchie. 5" will produce a 2" wide scrunchie. I hope that helps!

By hand using a ladder stitch. Perfectly invisible and only takes a minute.
Could you share the pattern please. Love this style.
I just finished making it. The link to the free pattern is in this post.

How long is the elastic? Thanks really enjoyed your tutorial.
I have lots of details on my blog post that is linked in the description.
I had a question, what thickness/type of elastic do you recommend for the scrunche (example- braided, woven, etc and 1/8”, 1/4”, 1/2”)
I would say braided and 1/8". That will be closest to a regular hair tie. If 1/4" is all you have on hand you could use that too.
Paige Handmade thank you for replying!
Do you use the machine to stitch the small openings closed? Or do you hand stitch it?
You can do either. Generally, I hand stitch with a ladder stitch or whip stitch.
Hi how long is the elastic you put inside the scrunchie?
7-9 inches depending on hair thickness.
You remind me of emma robert??? Also i'm going to try some rounded bow scrunchies
hi, great tutorial! how much elastic do you use?? thanks!!
Between 7-9 inches, depending if they are for kids or adults. 9 is what I do most often.
Awesome tutorial, can u share the exact measurements for the scrunchies and elastic and seam allowances please! Thanks
Yes, seam allowance is half an inch. The scrunchie fabric was anywhere from 2-5 inches wide and approx. 20 inches long. I cut the elastic at 7-9 inches (depending if it was for adults or children). How did you sew the first thing?
Did you say how long the scrunching fabric should be cut? It mentioned as wide as we want, but I didn’t catch the length.
I have all the lengths written out on my blog post that is linked below the video.
THANK YOU!!!,!!
How do you finish the small hole? Just sew it on top closed?
You can stitch close to the edge with the machine or sew by hand invisibily. I close the opening by hand with ladder stitch.
DEBES hacer con subtítulos en español ,🙏❤

Maybe I can get my template scanned and linked today or tomorrow. I'll let you know when it is up.
Paige Handmade, thank you!
Sorry for the delay. I just finished making it. The link to the free pattern is in this post.

Thank you so much! That was very kind of you.
great job can you tell me where to get the template you used in this video i do not see it thanks
It is just a template I made using the measurements I give in the video. Just draw out those measurements and connect them with curved lines and even if it is slightly different you'll still get a cute bow.
What fabric did you use to make these scrunches
You can use almost anything. Cotton, silk, flannel, velvet, etc.
Thank Paige
How long did you make the fabric for the classic bow?
Off the top of my head, I think 20-22 inches. I cut a little extra because you can always make it shorter.
Where do you get your fabrics from? :)
JoAnn or fabric.com.
how long and wide was the strip of fabric you cut??
Try 21 inches long by 3-5 inches wide. 3 inches will produce a 1" wide scrunchie. 5" will produce a 2" wide scrunchie. I hope that helps!
What types of fabric do you use?
You can use pretty much anything. Cotton, silk, flannel, polyester, velvet. It can be woven or stretch.
Omg pls help I did the exact same and at the end one side of the scrunchies wasn’t sewn help pls
You need to pull it through until you see the stitching where you started.
Which presser foot do you use? 1/4”?
The two feet I use most often are the 1/4" foot and the zigzag foot.
what size of elastic did you use and how long was it??
1/4" elastic. 7-9 inches, depending on if it is for thin or thick hair.
Paige Handmade thank you so much!!!😊
How do you stitch the openings closed? Do you just hand sew a ladder stitch?
That is what I do. You can always sew the opening closed with the machine right on the edge too. Which ever you prefer.
Do you have a template for the bow, I am not good at drawing this?
Yes, follow the link to my blog in the video description and it is linked in the blog post.
Thank you so much!!@@PaigeHandmade
Hi what is the measurement of color pink tie ribbon thank u

Am finding difficult to turn out the fabric using the tweezers need a tutorial am not good at turn out fabric
Where can I get the Patterns for this???

You're welcome!
I sell Scrunchies but I’ve been on the hunt for a more time efficient method
I hope this helps you make more efficiently.
What is the measurements of the scrunchie?
Check the blog post linked below the video for the measurements and bow pattern.
Oh man... I can't get this right! I wish there was slo-mo so I can see how you're pulling it. Aye..

Imagine an elongated football shape. 🏈 Fold it in half longwise and sew from each tip to the center (leaving a small opening to turn right side out).
PS. The template I use is one quarter of that shape. If you had four of the template pieces and taped them together it would be the full pattern piece.
