Ranveer Singh played the role of Alauddin Khilji in this film. He was a muggle ruler of the Khilji dynasty. Deepika plays padmavati here, she is the Queen of Mewar and Shahid Kapoor plays her husband, the king. Alauddin Khilji wanted to capture Padmavati because she was rumoured to be the most beautiful woman in India at that time.
