Clearly, this year will be worse than the previous one. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of poor investing decisions that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. I worked for BNS. It is the worst bank in Canada. Its CEO should be taken to court by customers. They outsourced whole IT to a third world country. I am retired but we used to say - all the savings they get from outsourced will be wiped out one day when customers sue bank. Hope that day has arrived.

It’s not just NSF fees. How do explain to your payees that your mortgage, rental, car payment bounced. The effects are far reaching.

Switch banks and be "Richer than you think". I switched a few years back after they received fines of 127M and 60.4M in shady deals. Lot of deals for switching.

banks don't want to commit to wave their money making fees, especially if they don't know how much they want to commit in losing
This is what happens you outsource technology to other companies outside this country
Our electronic world could crumble all from a natural disaster such as a CMT or nutter at the IT centre.
Banks are already predatory with their $40, $50, $60 nsf charges that costs the bank only pennies on money temporarily borrowed, there should be a $2.50 cap on an nsf charge that is covered within 24 hours.
Ironic how Scotiabank’s motto is « you’re richer than you think ».
Just goes to show how many folks live paycheck to paycheck.

A situation like this happened to me a couple of months ago. The company that I as suppose to make a payment to went nsf. I had to pay the company a penalty!
