The Royle Family is a British sitcom produced by Granada Television for the BBC, which ran for three series from 1998 to 2000, and specials from 2006 to 2012.[1][2] It centres on the lives of a television-fixated Manchester family, the Royles, comprising family patriarch Jim Royle (Ricky Tomlinson), his wife Barbara (Sue Johnston), their daughter Denise (Caroline Aherne), their son Antony (Ralf Little) and Denise's fiancé (later husband) David (Craig Cash).
Jim Royle was my favourite by far but, who the hell was that in the thumbnail as it sure wasn't Ricky Tomlinson

Geoffrey Hughes lived in Norris Green/Clubmoor area. He was a friend of my father's younger brother. Brian told me about Geoff, whom he used to socialise with. One night a group of lads were out with Geoff in the, 'Walkers' pub near Limestreet Station in Liverpool. Geoff announced to his mates, my uncle being one of them. "Hey lads, I've decided what I want to do, I want to be an actor!" They exclaimed, "WHAT! YOU GEOFF?!" and they fell about laughing...........True story. Both my father and his brother knew Geoff and he was definitely raised in the Norris Green area of Liverpool- NOT the Wirral. Geoff was a very amiable, pleasant bloke according to my father and his brother.
