This testosterone-filled crazy-fest is so satisfying. Shoving women into roles they don't belong in is why we can't get good action movies today. Sure, there are a few good action movies with women, but they simply don't compare to an all-male cast of badasses.

Now, I don't think this movie is technically better than The Last Jedi, but I personally think this fight scene here was far more memorable than any of the ones I saw in Episode 8.
This was a good movie overall. As i grew up and watching this movie again and again, i realised something in the story. That it is the real madness in this movie. And true madness was that, at the end of it all the real enemy or enemies was or were not the creatures, monsters, or the infection and infected but was the rrts team arrived there in the first place and how it changed them to the point of insanity with an exception of a few including reaper. And at the final confrontation to determine the future of everyone was to fight amongst themselves to the death, the two remaining core members of the team, not the monsters, not the infected inhabitants, nothing, just themselves.
I still don’t understand why some people hate this movie vehemently. I mean yes, maybe it isn’t the 100% perfect Doom movie, but even still it’s a fun sci-if action movie. It even fits the 80’s action tropes: the badass crew with different personalities that make them stand out (like Predator), the epic fight choreography, the one liners, honestly if you go into this just with the mindset that it’s trying to be a parody of 80’s movies, it’s not so bad! Now would it have been better if it tried to stay true to the game’s source material and maybe add more accurate costumes/props? Yes, but still it’s a fun movie on its own.
Wow. I've been watching this movie for a decade and I just now wondered why Sarge was even fighting to break free from Reapers grip. No matter what he was getting sucked into the ark. I imagine getting sucked in before the timer goes off would result in death or transport him somewhere far. Pinky does warn them at the beginning that if they get too close they'll get sucked in.
I thought at first he would teleport sarges lower half to mars ripping him in half Alsoim pretty sure he tried climbing back up to reaper trying to NOT get sucked in
Actually,Sarge never died.He dissapeared in a slipgate and he arrived in the Quake III Arena Eternal, where he fights Visor,Major,Patriot,Stripe and the other characters from Quake 3,including Doom (Reaper) or Doomguy!
I like SgtMarkIv's theory that this whole movie is a prequel to the actual doom series, and this covers the mission where doomguy assaulted his superior and was punished. Could also see him take the fall for the death of the civilians in a cover up.
I'll always get a kick out of this movie. Sure, not a perfect Doom adaptation...it misses a lot of the lore and demonic elements, but it does get a lot right. It strikes a fair balance between the pure-action aspect of vintage Doom and the more horror style of Doom 3. You get a fun ensemble, some playing around with exactly who the 'main hero' is between Johnson and Urban, a cool dedicated First Person sequence, a cool final fight scene, and a pretty killer score by Clint Mansell. Frankly, there is quite a lot to love about this movie. It's like a modern, more simple, testosterone fueled take on something like Aliens.
This is one of my favorite movies. Alot of people say video games movies are bad but this isn't nearly as bad as other others like the Resident Evil franchise or Assassins Creed.
Well, I can't comment on AC. Resident Evil, however, had only one good film that truly capture the essence of the source material. That film was Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
Joshua Jacobo Ehhh...I dunno about that. For one thing, Alice had super human abilities, really negating any "survival horror" feel. Or any horror, for that matter. The virus is extremely over simplified. Turns things into zombies. Okay. No giant snakes, worms, spiders...? Infected birds? Nothing? Just Lickers (which is basically just a mutated zombie)? The first movie at least had the excuse that the virus was contained in the facility. It could only infect what was present.
Not necessarily. The part on the church had lickers, the part in the school had dogs, Nemesis chased around Alice and the others, the premise of the Raccoon City Disaster. That's pretty much 1, 2 and 3 put together. The only video game film adaptation to surpass what Apocalypse was TRYING to do would be Silent Hill and its sequel.
Actually this movie was precisely as bad as them. Not completely unwatchable, but almost completely unrecognizable from the source material that made so many people enjoy it in the first place.
Mortal Kombat was the best movie based on a video game. This one wasn't bad, but it was just underwhelming. All of the cool bits don't last longer than 30 seconds, besides that one 5-minute scene in first-person. It wasn't unlikable as a movie; it just had a lot of potential to go off of from the games, and it completely failed to live up to that.
Y’all ever realize how Sarge was actually the protagonist and NOT Reaper and the rest of the crew? Because Sarge was looking out for the rest of humanity, hell even the entirety of the galaxy. He didn’t want to break contamination and expose Earth or any other parts of the galaxy to Hell. He was trying to protect everyone, even if that meant killing a few innocents and risking their own lives. In pop culture, he’s basically Thanos in this film. In order for everyone else to live, a few lives must be sacrificed.
Cynima Rapscallion And would you care to elaborate on what a protagonist exactly is then? Because from my understanding, the protagonist is the main character in which the story revolves around. And then there’s the antagonist, who opposes the protagonist. Every story has one of each, Doom is no different. For the common folks, Reaper is clearly the protagonist. He has that main character look and feel, he has a sister to further solidify his stature as the “guy”. But then enter Sarge, who walks in with a shining bald head and strong eye brows, who follows orders no matter what, trying to prevent the rest of mankind from facing the same fate that the Mars facility has faced. Reaper and Sarge both face off at the end, with Sarge turning into a demon and getting his face blown off in the end. Yeah, definitely sounds like Sarge is the antagonist. Not quite, referring back to my original comment. To the enlightened, Sarge is clearly the protagonist. But that’s okay if you don’t see it that way.
I feel like you're ignoring the fact that Sarge was going to bring the research data that creates these things back to Earth. He followed orders, but he was by no means being the good guy. Reaper wanted to entirely destroy the data and the C24 Infection. If he hadn't become infected and forced Reaper to kill him then this outbreak would have just happened again on Earth. Also completely ignoring the advice from his team and executing his own man at the end, Sarge was a good soldier, but in this film he was the villain through and through, worse than the monsters.
LegendaryPredalien12 What do you mean he wanted to bring the data back to Earth? The whole entire reason why he orders everyone to eliminate all survivors and ultimately shooting Kid in the head is BECAUSE he didn’t want the outbreak reaching the surface. Killing Kid was, in of itself, 100% acceptable as insubordination is punishable by death, especially given the situation. Only reason why anyone would think he’s the villain is because he, unfortunately, gets infected and for whatever reason, fight Reaper to the death and dies as the result. The only wrong that Sarge did was not mention that he, himself, was already infected to his squad when he orders them to eliminate all survivors. I can agree that one can make endless arguments over Sarge v Reaper. But this is my perspective and I will stand by it.
This movie is like DOOM 3 an underappreciated gem that by itself makes it stand out the best in the series but like everyone else says compare it to the original DOOM and expect it to be that and u might be a little disappointed
I always liked this movie. It was more based on the Doom 3 but fans can be pretty toxic and berried it just because it's not a Doomguy fighting demons from hell. This was a good thriller horror movie.
When many people thought this movie was bad, I mean like how bad? Because it doesn't look like in the video game. Me : Come on, give me a break. At least this doesn't look like a low-budget movie.
It was a good movie, I'd put it over many of the big budget action movies of today, Transformers, Fast and Furious etc which are just bland big action set pieces with no substance and no heart. Doom had a decent story, good cast, really good pacing. A solid action flick I've happily watched numerous times since I first saw it back in 2005.
I know this movie was hardly faithful to its' namesake but I can't help but think that this was a reference to Doom guy killing his commanding officer for ordering him to fire on civilians.
Gunnery Sergeant Asher “Sarge” Mahonin: Last man standing, Reaper. I think she needs medical attention. Staff Sergeant John “Reaper” Grimm: Where are the survivors Kid found? Gunnery Sergeant Asher “Sarge” Mahonin: I took care of that problem. Quarantine’s almost over. Power should be back on any minute. Staff Sergeant John “Reaper” Grimm: You killed The Kid. Gunnery Sergeant Asher “Sarge” Mahonin: We’re all killers, Reaper. It’s what they pay us for. It’s finished. What do you we go outside and get some fresh air. Are you gonna shoot me? Staff Sergeant John “Reaper” Grimm: Yeah, I was thinking about it. Gunnery Sergeant Asher “Sarge” Mahonin: What you got left? Staff Sergeant John “Reaper” Grimm: Half a clip. You? Gunnery Sergeant Asher “Sarge” Mahonin: I’ve got one round.
Definitely not the minority, I liked it as well. Sure it's nothing like the game, & therefore can never be considered anything close to being just as good or better than the game itself, but it was still a nice little movie to watch. Especially considering what I'm hearing about this new 2019 version.
I liked it, as well. Obviously it's not a good adaptation, but on its own I think it stands pretty good. If it was just called "Invasion" or "The Infected" instead of Doom, I bet people would've liked it a lot more.
I didn't like this movie as a kid, but 10+ years later this movie is a masterpiece compared to that pile of Cacodemon dookies known as Annihilation. That and the cast in this movie had to undergo military training to prepare for the roles of actual Marines, so they definitely did their homework.
I wonder if Sarge was eventually mutating into a Hell Knight once he got bit, it would explain why he still retained his intelligence and his strength eventually surpassed Reaper in the end.
I always wondered about that as well, even back then. Both Sarge and Reaper turned into superhuman soldiers as a result of Chromosome-24 (C24) yet Sarge was seemingly overpowering Reaper through sheer strength as the fight progressed. Makes sense that the C24 infection was making him evolve into the much stronger Hell Knight monster.
This movie wasn't that bad. It had some things that push it to a solid C grade. Pros: Having Hell be the UAC Mars settlement itself was, imo, a solid take. Especially with how the mutating biogenetic infection being morality based and not like every other zombie film. And the character portrayals were consistent with that with how only those who were malicious, sadistic, or manipulative became monsters. Having the Rock not actually be the main or even supporting protagonist but a main villian was clever use of the actor's fame and type cast to hide an otherwise somewhat predictable villain. Including the chainsaw was a cute touch, and having Reaper use it to fight the demonized Pinky was good since in the game, that was the best counter against those demons. This doesn't (thankfully) ring true as much for modern horror movies, but back in the early thousands it was still an issue so I'm propping points to this movie: The black characters weren't killed first. One of them went out like a true badass giving the toughest demon in the film a real beating, and the other was second to last to die and was more than just "the cool guy". Cons: The pacing was dreadful. Slow and suspenseful scenes are great. Fast paced action packed scenes are great too. If you're going to have both, you need to blend them together and not just essentially cut and paste them at ends. The movie would go from 0 to 100 then back to 0 without even dashing through a 90. There also wasn't enough shots to show us what the marines were looking at during the search scenes. It was majority face shots, so we as the audience couldn't be in these dark corridors looking for threats WITH them and instead we were just watching THEM look. And since a lot of this movie was them searching and rescuing/destroying, not having more POV shots hurt it severely. What they should have done was have more FPS moments like the one at the preclimax but for 2-3 second intervals sprinkled through out. That way at the end, we are treated to a long uninterrupted one that pulls out all the action and carnage. And finally, the different kinds of guns and different demons didn't get much attention. Being a movie based on Doom where the guns were basically the protagonists and the demons the antagonists, we didn't get to really see and appreciate the different weapons. The BFG for instance should have been fired at least once more instead of only twice. And then the demons too, mostly zombies, with an imp or hellknight unceremoniously sprinkled in. It was actually on my 4th or 5th viewing when I realized that all the Hell Knight demons were actually the same one, that one being the first prisoner who was injected.
thank god im not the only one who thougt that! he would have been a great solid snake! he's a bit older now, but i think he can still pull it! maybe instead of david, karl as naked snake? imagine that!

What do I mean? I mean that they should've gotten a woman has a more "tougher" and "stronger" vibe build but I understand that since it was a cheap movie it would he hard to get someone like a professional fighter or someone who can actually fill the role of the first "doom girl" properly.
Of course the movie was trash all around but in my opinion the gender of the lead protagonist was the least of me worries if they actually picked someone that would actually be worthy to fill those shoes.
As a kid I loved this movie, looking back this was corny af
I still loving this movie lol ...gg and i have 17

for me was the opposite. i hate it when i was a kid cause it was corny af, but now i see it as a hilarous bad movie
Great movie, u can say hilarious bad to all these "heroe" trash films.
Yea the first person scene was so badass as a kid watching for the first time hahaha
Still better than the last Jedi
Heck no.

Now, I don't think this movie is technically better than The Last Jedi, but I personally think this fight scene here was far more memorable than any of the ones I saw in Episode 8.
Not even a competition
This was a good movie overall. As i grew up and watching this movie again and again, i realised something in the story. That it is the real madness in this movie. And true madness was that, at the end of it all the real enemy or enemies was or were not the creatures, monsters, or the infection and infected but was the rrts team arrived there in the first place and how it changed them to the point of insanity with an exception of a few including reaper. And at the final confrontation to determine the future of everyone was to fight amongst themselves to the death, the two remaining core members of the team, not the monsters, not the infected inhabitants, nothing, just themselves.
During the first person I would get my 360 controller and act like i was playing the original DOOM
Omg same bro
I did the same thing lmao
lol same but mine was a remote control lol
YOOO SAME
I still don’t understand why some people hate this movie vehemently.
Craig Dawson I think it causes premature teleportation. Whatever part is in the portal when it triggers gets teleported, the rest left behind.
@@Bluesit32 yeah i would believe in that for happening especially after that scenes with missported Markus´ feet
I thought at first he would teleport sarges lower half to mars ripping him in half
Alsoim pretty sure he tried climbing back up to reaper trying to NOT get sucked in
2:42 ¡ Baron Of Hell !
Reaper took more punishment than the Doom Slayer himself XD
He does get some nice bonuses though. Even Doom Slayer can't just regenerate with no catalyst.
The rock is such badass villain
Actually,Sarge never died.He dissapeared in a slipgate and he arrived in the Quake III Arena Eternal, where he fights Visor,Major,Patriot,Stripe and the other characters from Quake 3,including Doom (Reaper) or Doomguy!
Makes sense.

this fighting sequence was insane when i was a kid
I like SgtMarkIv's theory that this whole movie is a prequel to the actual doom series, and this covers the mission where doomguy assaulted his superior and was punished. Could also see him take the fall for the death of the civilians in a cover up.
In Doom eternal Lore?

This fight scene was so good, It looks pretty realistic to how a real fight would happen in real life minus the super human strength and abilities.

From space marine here in Doom, to space doctor in Star Trek.
I’ve returned here after watching The Boys and now I just see it as The Rock vs Billy Butcher lmfao
Thats not what protagonist means.
Agreed! 😏
I really think Karl Urban should return as the Doom Guy.
Watching this as a kid I was heart broken. Love when he’s a bad guy but hate seeing him go down!
although the movie was kinda mediocre, this scene is just beautiful from a coreography standpoint
Love this movie!

I did too. A few of my friends from school basically got it on the same day as me and we talked about it all day. Ahhh good times.
Same!
Billy Butcher VS Black Adam in a different universe is how I pictured this scene
I honestly liked this movie. I guess I’m in the minority here lol
@@SpinoRexzillaEN25 yeah I agree
Do not confuse "minority" with "true loyalty"
Movie was based off of DOOM 3; expectations were not met because they were misplaced
I didn't like this movie as a kid, but 10+ years later this movie is a masterpiece compared to that pile of Cacodemon dookies known as Annihilation. That and the cast in this movie had to undergo military training to prepare for the roles of actual Marines, so they definitely did their homework.
Still better then Doom : Annihilation
Everything's better than DOOM annihilation
Every The Rock in movies.
We still call "The Rock"
Can't believe how accurate the rock in real life was portrayed in this movie.
Pros:
Having Hell be the UAC Mars settlement itself was, imo, a solid take.
Cons:
The pacing was dreadful.
Can you potentially explain to me why these two fight? Why did The Rock turn evil
At 1:40, doomfist from overwatch is born :D followed by the doompunch which insta kills an ordinary man, but not a man with c24
