- In the second episode of #WomenWeLove, our show that puts the spotlight on incredible women with inspiring stories, actress #NeenaGupta talks to Rajeev Masand about the career revival she's had at 60 with #BadhaaiHo. She also talks about her life choices - considered bold by many, especially her decision to have a child out of wedlock - and how they impacted her career. Neena insists that although she's made mistakes, they were her own mistakes and she's made peace with them. She's raring to go as her career takes a sudden upswing.
She was born several decades ahead of her times.

When she said,she had only ₹ 2000 in the bank at the time of Masaba's delivery,but God helped her.Her dad was her main support,see how God sends someone to help you.I like her frankness and her audacity to admit that she made mistakes and she felt guilty at that time.True person.

I saw Neena Gupta in cannes may 2018 walking down the street street wearing a black saree and flowing long black hair. She looked fantastic. Forget all the fake girls like Sonam etc this was the real deal. Cheers ma'am.
What a woman!! That clarity of thoughts, soft and shy, yet strong and steady, the purity of putting her needs first without being greedy or selfish, accepting herself, realising her drawbacks and strengths. Wow! It was a pleasure watching that childlike glee on her face and the glint in her eyes that comes with a new found fame n recognition. So good to have known the real Neena ji.

@@prairiehorse6168 Okay, I just asked because they are two different statements. And thank you so much for saying how the society calls people "bold" for having kids out of the wedlock. People glorify anything, that does not mean it is healthy. Especially for kids, it is not healthy.
@@palvi5639 lol you actually understood the opposite of what I meant. I just want the society to be in place where single parents are not looked as anomly. I don't think the children would get affected if people treated such families as "normal." My dad passed away when I was just 5 and I and my sister were raised by my Mom. I never thought my Mom was not enough. It's the society that made us feel like my Mom needed to be remarried and all that nonsense. Can't imagine what the kids born out of wedlock have to go through compared to my family.
@@prairiehorse6168 Yes, I agree single parenting is okay if a mother does it or a father does it. I am sorry to hear about your situation, I am certainly not making a point on natural circumstances, on the things we cannot control. But single parenting just out of feminism or out of trend can disturb children, it is just what I feel. 🙂
first of all, THANK YOU, Rajeev, for interviewing this amazing woman. I cried while watching her interview, she didn't say much but her eye says a lot of things. AMAZING AMAZING women. It shows that the bollywood film industry is not a family member after all. love her acting in Badhaaiho. I wish that Neena Ji & Seema Pahwa from Bareilly ki barfi would be nice to star in Saand Ki Aankh, they would be perfect for the role.

Loved the part where she so innocently, yet forthrightly admits that it must be her honesty that makes people love her. :) As also her honesty in admitting that she would have loved to be desired as much as admired.

Omg I thought of the same interview while watching this. Although Kangana has been saying some rather bizarre things these days, she made so much sense and seemed very real and likeable in that one.

I can’t imagine this sort of honesty coming from anybody else on camera without holding a hidden agenda. Just honesty flowing through her talks about her guilts, desires, grudges, shyness, passion knowing that she could open herself to further judgements.
But when you’ve gone through decades of judgements already, you kind of care only those of your own heart. She talked like somebody would only talk to their close family.
One of the best thing I've watched in recent times.. she was always a favourite actor but now she is a favourite human being, admired by all

You know, I was a kid when Saans used to air on TV and my mum always said that Neena Gupta was a great artist and so I believed her and would try to observe her excellence. But goodness I never realized she was so sweet and gosh I'm really struck by how sweet her voice is! Good woman, wish there had been a lot more work for her earlier on as well.

Not sure if many remember her performance and panache in the DD show “Khandan”. As a child growing up in the 80s, this was the show I watched without understanding the story. But definitely, took away a sense of how to dress better in western clothes. All thanks to Neena Gupta and her style on that show. Neena Gupta.. u r still a trend setter and may you always remain so!!!!!
