Thank you so much for this video! Really helpful information regarding the time selection, because i looked at this and was so confused.
Appreciate the update Sebastian! I'll get my tickets for June!
Thanks for the info. I booked the guided tour with entry ticket. I planned almost everything according to your advice. So helpful.
Thank you sooooo much for posting this, i would have been DEVESTATED if i couldnt see the parthenon on my visit later this year - ive waited my whole life to see it. Booked my tickets. THANK YOU
You're a life saver for making this video! I'm a Classics student visiting Greece for 3 weeks this May and all your information is so helpful and clear :)
Good to know the change and thanks for letting us know so we can plan ahead.
Thank you so much for putting out this video! I had just been on the official acropolis ticket site last week and did not see anything available for our upcoming cruise dates in October. But as of today they were available and knowing that there is the limit I booked ours already!I’ve shared your video and information with the rest of our cruise group so that they can also get whatever tickets they need before they run out.
Thanks for the reminder, I'm going in May, will book it now!
Hi, I watched so much of your videos as it is really great references for first time visitor like myself. Yesterday I was finally here in Athens. And I followed exactly many of your advises. I was in Acropolis this morning on a 8AM session. I got the entire Acropolis almost to myself so it is really good choice to visit at 8AM. When I coming out at 930AM, I saw so many tours busses with tons of visitors lining up to go in. Ahh..tomorrow I'll be flying to Santorini. I have no worry because I already have exactly all the good recommendation from your past videos. Thanks for the good work, keep it up!
Thanks for the heads up, Seb. The information will come in handy for my group's upcoming trip to Greece.✌️
Thank you so much. I hate having to reserve in advance but that is life. Thanks to you, I will not miss the Acropolis :)
Your videos are a life saver for us first time Canadian visitors!! We will give you and your channel a shout out on our upcoming vlogs so our community can find you when they travel to Greece! 🫶🏼
Thank you so much for all the information you put out in your channel. I’m visiting Athens soon and I’m planning a holiday for 6 people total and without you I would be doomed!! Can’t wait to explore Athens
Thanks for the timely reminder! I just booked mine for later this month!
Great video and explanation especially for people that travel to Athens by cruise
Thank you so much ! ! ! Just got my tickets for the Acropolis for my daughter and I for July 2024! Can't wait ! This was SUCH great info. Really, appreciate. We are also going to do the water taxi / hike to Fira together. Thanks !
Thank you! This clears up the 5 day range for me!
Thanks! Coming in November ❤
Sebastian, Thanks for this informative video. We have booked our combo ticket for our visit in Aug 2024 - hopefully the first booking of the day at 8am will help us avoid the summer crowds. I visited Athens 25 years ago, one didn't need to pre-book tickets in those days but in recent years all international travel seems to require this (if you want to get to the popular sites). thank you from Canada. 🤟
Very timely information as we will be in Athens in July. Thank you!
Important updates!! 💚
Thank you so much, very useful
Thank you so much! I was so confused and also thought the Acropolis had to be my first stop!
We went to Greece last week, so glad we went before the crowds hit!
Thanks for the video! Does this capacity limit apply to the acropolis museum as well?
Nope :-)
Thanks for this video!! QUESTION: Which mode of transportation would you recommend from the cruise port?
I have a video on this coming out soon :-)
Please!!!
Hey love your videos, could you recommend a few spots on peloponnes when one would do a 2 day trip from Athens by car
Nafplio, Epidaurus, Mycenae, Monemvasia
Awesome videos! Is it true that on the first Sunday of the month (thinking of going Sunday November 3), the Acropolis and Archaeological sites are free?
Between November and March, yes. So Nov 3d will be free indeed.
Great video, I wasn’t sure about the time to pick when I looked at the five day ticket. Is it true that they will be stopping the combi ticket next year?
Probably yes :-(
Do the links to tickets that you included give you the tickets immediately on your phone or do you then have to wait in line at the site to pick up your pre-booked tickets? I have seen some information that says that different ticket sites deliver your tickets in a different manner. Thanks and I love your content!
They're immediately on your phone :-)
Thank you so much for the update! Any Chance you happen to know if we need to book tickets on one of those few days a year when the entry is free?
You cant book tickets online for those dates. You need to show up in person and get a paper ticket. It's gonna be a long line, just so you know.
@@GreeceExplained Thank you!
Thank you! I wanted to ask if the same applies for Athens Passes?
Yes, since the Athens Pass includes the Acropolis.
Great video! Do they check bags at the Acropolis? For example if I have a camera gimbal (stabilizer) in my backpack from exploring the city prior to visiting Acropolis would I be fine?
You wont have any issues with a gimbal. Drones is what they're looking for ;-)
@@GreeceExplainedthank you for the info!
Thank you so much. Your videos have helped me so much in planning.
If I get the combo ticket and acropolis is my last stop, where do I pick up the tickets? Still pick up at acropolis and then tour the other sites first?
Thank you
You get the combo ticket on your phone immediately, you dont need to "pick up" anything :-)
Thank you!! I just got the tickets and they emailed me the e-ticket. I wasn’t sure earlier 😀😀😀
Great video as well! Do you know how long does the Acropolis guided tour lasts?
Just the Acropolis = 2h
Acropolis + Acropolis Museum = 4h
@@GreeceExplainedso if we book the guided tour & museum without the acropolis entry tickets (because we want to get the combo tickets separately), do we need to buy entry tickets to the museum? Or does the tour w/museum include that?
@@MT2LUD Correct, in that case you also need to get the acropolis museum ticket online : bit.ly/3KjI7bQ
No need to select a timeslot for the museum, just the date.
@@GreeceExplainedthanks for the quick response! Do you think the museum tour is necessary? We definitely want the Acropolis tour, we're just trying to decide if we should do the museum as well.
@@MT2LUD If you're history nerds, absolutely. If not, skip the guide for the museum.
Hello, can you give more information on how to get a city pass that would include the majority of the attractions. Thank you
Dont know of any, sorry !
I purchased tickets directly with Get Your Guide tour a few weeks ago for my June visit, but it had the old instructions. After seeing your video, I contacted them directly, and they reissued my tickets with all the new instructions. Thank you for this information because it really made the process so much easier.
Perfect ! Glad I could help :-)
Sebastian, thank you so much for your videos! We are under 25 years old and it doesn’t look like the reduced ticket can be purchased online. It’s says to purchase on site directly at the venue. Would there be any concerns of not being able to get a ticket since we won’t purchase in advance?
Yes that risk is very real. If it were me, I'd book it online at the normal price. Would be silly to miss out on entering the Acropolis just to save 50%.
Hi Sebastian, what time tourists from cruises leave? when is it less crowded?
www.cruisemapper.com/ports/piraeus-athens-port-80
Thank you Sebi, for the video. Where is the better entrance for handicap persons with wheelchairs? And, is there a specail elevator ticket that handicap persons need to buy in addition to the general ticket? I would love to see an Acropolis video for seniors or handicap persons. Thank you.
All the info is here : athensbylocals.com/acropolis-disabled-access-use-of-the-acropolis-elevator/
@@GreeceExplained Thank you so much!! This site is much helpful than other sites that I have Googled.
Geia sou fíle! I'll be in Athens for a cruise stop, so just for some hours. Can I buy the Acropolis ticket along with the Hop On Hop Off ticket at Pirineo Port? Thanks and regards!
Nope you can only buy the Acropolis tickets online or at the entrance of the site.
@@GreeceExplained Ah ok, good to know, thanks again for all!
Thank you for great informational tips. My husband needs to use the lift at the Acropolis, and if that is not possible he will have to view the Acropolis from afar. How does this work booking a ticket in advance? Thank you. Will be there in a week.
athensbylocals.com/acropolis-disabled-access-use-of-the-acropolis-elevator/
Sooo helpful! Many thanks.
I have a couple more questions on the lift at the Acropolis. Are there audios available for the folks that take the lift? And as a spouse of the person taking the lift I assume I need to walk up and meet my husband at the top. Lastly, if I walk up and don’t enter at the main entrance can you rent an audio from that entrance. Again, thank you in advance. Just as a note the site seems to still be down as we are unable to purchase a ticket for me.
Hi Sebastian, with regards to the audio guide in the Combo ticket, is that a download to your phone or is it a device with headphone provided at each site? Regards
Hey ! It's a download to your phone
Do you have specific date to purchase the combo ticket and how long do you have to use it. We will be there for 3 days? Thank u
Ticket is valid for 5 days. Only the date of your visit to the Acropolis has to be fixed when buying the combo ticket. You can visit the other sites whenever you want (within 5 days before or after the date you chose for the Acropolis)
A bit off topic but for Delphi ruins… since they appear right beside the highway (Temple of Athena) are they accessible at any time such as just before sunrise or after sunset? Or are they gated up and closed at certain times?
The temple of Athena and the Tholos are not part of the actual archeological site, and yes I believe they're free to visit 24/7. The archeological site isn't.
Do handicapped guests get discount or free entry, or their companion at all? If so, how would you book this online please? Thank you.
Hi Sebastian! We're visiting in July but we're under 25 and EU citizens which means everything should be free access. Do we just show our passport at the entrance or do we still need a ticket?
You need to show your passport at the ticket office, and there they will give you a free ticket. But that means you're gonna have to do the line unfortunately.
Hi! Will Labour Day on May 7 affect transport? Flying in that day and hoping to take metro to city. Any advice?
Flights might have some delays. No metros no buses. Only taxi.
@@GreeceExplained Thanks so much! I'd seen conflicting information online, Hopefuly there will be enough taxis at the airport! :) Love the videos, sir!
We are going to Athens in early June, when should we buy the tickets?
asap
If I want to visit the Acropolis Museum before visiting the Acropolis and THEN visit the other sites, is that possible? Or do I have to visit the Acropolis on the first or the last day only?
Yes that's possible.
Thank you for the informative videos! MUST SEE for everyone visiting Greece. I have 2 kids 16 and 13 years old do they have 5o pay for tickets to the Acropolis? In the link above its only from 25. Thanks again
Thx for the kind words ! If you're from the EU, then yes your kids can get a free ticket at the ticket office.
Thnx again.what if I am not from the EU?
@@moshek8175 Then it's not free
I will be travelling with a 65 y.o. that can walk and climb some stairs, but only if they are not too long. We are looking for the most comfortable way to get to the Acropolis. I think there is an elevator somewhere. Also, we noticed there are some Segway tours. Do you have any recommendation for our case? Thank you in advance.
The elevator is only for wheelchair users. Segway tours dont enter the Acropolis, they only go around the hill. So I'm afraid the stairs are the only way.
@@GreeceExplained It will have to do then. Thank you for creating these videos and responding to our questions.
hi Sebastian, I wanted to buy for May 18. do you know why it is not available?
It's free for everyone on May 18th. But that also means you HAVE to do the line no matter what to get your paper ticket, which is not great.
Do the guided tours book tickets like everyone else? The day we weill be there ahead of our cruise looks like it might be sold out via the ticket website you linked, but through the tour guide website it says the date is still available?
Which date is it ?
@@GreeceExplainedSunday May 26th
@@GreeceExplained will probably bite the bullet and do the guided tour but I hope they have tickets
Hey just wondering, I just saw another video where she said that they will only be open the first Sunday in the month during the winter period is this true? I’m planning on surprising my parents with a trip during Christmas
It will be FREE on the first Sunday of the winter months. It's open on all other days, but you have to pay.
@Greece Explained: Has not the combo ticket been eliminated as of 01/April?
Nope. The combo ticket is still alive in 2024
@@GreeceExplained I see that your link for the combo ticket is with Get Your Guide. But on the archeological ticket site, combo tickets are no longer offered as of April 1st.
@@tessaknoblauch4498 Combo tickets will no longer be offered from Apr 1st 2025.
Thanks for this video. You mentioned that the ticket is valid for 5 days but the website doesn't say that 🤔. Also, it looks like you can't get print the tickets. Can we use a different web where you can use an electronic ticket?
The combo ticket is valid for 5 days. The Acropolis ticket only for a specific day (and time).
No need to print anything. You can scan the ticket from your phone.
@@GreeceExplained but, it doesn't say that on the website 🤔
any update?
Hello Air, First of all thanks for your videos...
I have a doubt.
In your video you say the combo ticket is valid for 5 days, but in the link it the duration is 1 day only.....
Why is that so??
The date you have to choose on the website is for the ACROPOLIS site only. You can visit the other sites whenever.
Hi Sebastian, Thank you for the info!! I have a Query, If I am booking a combo ticket for 5 PM, can I visit the rest of the sites during that day before visiting to Acropolis? For example If I book it for 20th Apr - 5 PM for combo ticket, can I visit Ancient Agora and other sites in the morning time or afternoon time on the same day? TIA!!
Yes you can :-)
@@GreeceExplained Thank you!!
If you book Acropolis for 9am, you can arrive between 8:45-9:15 not 10:15. Thanks for all your advice.
Nope, from 8:45 to 10:15 is correct. What makes you doubt it ? Did you read something different elsewhere ?
Hi Sebastian, what happens on the 18th May when there is free entry and there is no time slot on the day? 😢
You need to line up in person to get a free ticket. There's gonna be huge lines. Maybe better go on the 17th or 19th and pay full price but avoiding lines. Thats what I would do.
Thank you for your suggestion. We’ll probably go on the 17th then.
We are travelling from US with two teenagers, but site does not allow to buy tickets for under 25. What's the process for that?
You have to buy them in person at the ticket booth, with the risk that this timeslot will be sold out already. So I recommend you buy it online (full price) for everyone.
If I’ve booked a ticket through a third party company including an audio guide and Ive chosen a time for the Acropolis, this would be the same thing right?
Yup same !
@@GreeceExplained Thank you!
Wondering what to do with a family of 7-we have 4 adults and 3 students (under 25 years old) and I understand that they are free and should we buy in advance for the adults and then risk to get the 3 students in the line up?
I wouldn't risk it. I would pay full price for everyone.
Hey so on the Website it says for EU Visitors under the Age of 25 the Entrance is free, is there any way to like reserve a ticket or do I have to pay the fully price if I want a guarantee. Thanks in advance ( I am 21 btw that's why I am asking)
Indeed, you can't get your free ticket ahead of time, you need to line up. And yes, there's always a risk of all tickets being sold out by then.
Isn’t the combo ticket going away this year?
In 2024 there will still be the combo ticket.
Does the combo ticket include the Acropolis Museum?
Not Sebastian, but no. He left a link in the description.
@justabun @Greece Explained I just received an email from the company telling me that the museum is included in the combo tickets. Now, I am more confused than before. 😅
@@maktiffany Wait what? Now I'm not sure. By the company do you mean GetYourGuide?
Is it possible to see everything in the combo ticket in a day?
Yes it is
How does it work if you're EU under 25? I'm guessing booking at a different site, perhaps a day in advance should work?
If you want a discounted ticket, you need to do the line to get a paper ticket.
@@GreeceExplained Hello Sebastian, thought I read in the ticket site under 25 is half for non-EU as well. Is this true? And how would that work if the adults already have their time slot tickets purchased? We’re planning on going in the evening on June 7. Thanks!
@@terrybarnett273 Yes correct. But I'd get the full priced ticket anyway because its not guaranteed there will still be availability for that timeslot when getting that ticket in person.
@@GreeceExplained thank you 🙏🏻
If I buy the tickets from the official site, does the "Athena's Combined Ticket" work the same way?
I believe it does, yes
When trying to book tickets for combo ticket, it asks for nationality in latin characters? Is this b=necessary or english is ok?
English is okay. It just means you should not write in another alphabet, like Greek alphabet, Arabic, Cyrillic etc.
Hi, how does this work for 18th May (Museum Day (free entry day))?
No tickets available online. You have to line up to get a paper ticket. Expect huge lines.
Even at 7:30 AM?
I should have gone in March instead of April/May😄.
Yes but then the islands would have been dead :D
@@GreeceExplained I would not complain about having Santorini for myself, and May is still too cold for beauch and swimmig...
Hi, can’t find the link for booking . Can I please have it as would like to book combo tickets for next week. Thanks
