I like that you do high end stuff and very budget friendly stuff. This is how I think most of us shop. We have a few high end devices and some budget friendly devices.
Jordan Keyes this laptop is actually bad! I only had it for a few weeks and it messed up on me! I clicked the update symbol, because for some reason, my chromebook didn't auto-update which is weird considering that most chromebooks auto-update when they are turned off for the night or something! The thing updated and then wouldn't boot right anymore because it would get stuck on the screen right before it tells you to sign in (AKA The screen you see where it has a white background and all you see is the chrome logo with "chrome" next to it), and despite working with customer service for nearly 2 HOURS, we could not fix it, had to return it, and am trying to get a replacement still over a month after losing it to an UPDATE! Let that sync in! As of writing this, this chromebook is $139 and is just not a good chromebook to have! Don't buy this unless you only need a laptop for a very short amount of time!
except me im and idiot....i bought a 1400$ laptop and then a month later i was like need a desktop -.- i wish i bought a chrome book then i would saved a bunch of money
John Doe well that's the purpose of a laptop..... if I want to play games I just hop on to my desktop but when I'm in class or on my couch I don't need the power and would much prefer something that is thin like a MacBook, would I use it for everything in my life.... No i do need my pc for graphics and video design as well as games time to time :) which my MacBook will take years to render and never run
Magic mushroom - You mean...after MOMMY spent $1000. Very obvious you are too young and stupid to purchase anything at all. Who pays for the couch and your internet connection. Enough said.🙄
First boot of factory image of most Chromebooks requires charger connection to assure that secure boot completes, wifi connection can be established, Google registration completes and and update can be installed without interruption.
The plug is actually not upside down... Its normal... Plugs in homes are supposed to be ground pin on to and Neg and Pos on bottom... for safety... if the plug came out slightly and something fell on the prongs then it could catch fire... but if it falls on a ground pin then nothing happens... made that way on purpose
All ChromeOS devices require that they be plugged in before you can start the setup process. One would presume this is to prevent any possible going dead in the middle of any OS file/OS modifications.
Thank you for making this video! I'm taking classes online, and my computer of 4.5 years is near death. I had written this chromebook off as "too good to be true," but your video gave me the courage to take the plunge and give it a try. My budget is incredibly tight, but this little machine is doing everything I need it to do (and saved me at least $50!) Thanks again!
Torrey Ellison I have that one an it is great for the price, I literraly stopped using my Dell inspiron i5 , because the chromebook is way faster for web browsing
Lol!! I got rid of my Dell for a Chromebook right now I'm using the Chromebook 2 13in but I really need to upgrade to something with a better display and a faster processor
another good chromebook is the acer 14 or the acer 15. the acer 14 is like $300 with a full meatal body desighn and a full hd screen and the acer chromebook 15 is $400 it has upward speakers a full hd screen and also a backlit key board which is a big plus and a pretty good procceser.
I have an ACER C720... Ive had it for a few years... best computer ive EVER owned. Im like you, almost 100% online in Chrome browser so this fits my lifestyle. Its never slowed down, it keeps itself updated and boots in seconds. Waiting for this thing to kick the bucket to buy a new one but it hasnt.... battery still lasts forever too... very underrated
9:31 You can also use some new ones! Like swipe gestures: You can use the track pad with two fingers to swipe up, down, left, and right to move the current window's scroll in the respective direction. You can also use three fingers left and three fingers right to change the tab one left and one right respectively, and you can also tap with two (or is it three?) on a tab to make it close without having to go to the X button. 8:31PM 9/1/2017
@4:58 Battery shipping protection... You cannot ship good via plane or overseas (in case of UK) with battery unprotected. Mainly due risk of spontaneous fire (LiIon/LiPo). Any major manufacturer include this kind protection these days.
But it does take seconds actually. I am using a Chromebook right now. on Chrome OS it booted in about 5-10 seconds. I modded mine and installed windows 10 on it and it still boots in about 20 seconds.
Excellent review - could you mention more on switching 2 different accounts at 7:55? How do you sign on the second account and what keys do you hit to switch?
Alex S to do that first you have to add the second account by going into settings scrolling down to users and pressing add user or going into the other users menu and once another account is added it will be accessible from the lock screen along with the main account
I used a chromebook for a while (inbetween getting it working and selling it) and it was actually really good. Mine had an Intel celeron in it and 2GB RAM but it worked really nicely for watching youtube videos, browsing the web, netflix, etc. It was very lightweight and it had decent connectivity. The person who I bought it from (probably stolen it) said it was his son's and it was still enrolled at a school, so it had a school login. All you had to do to reset it was change the serial number.
Thanks for that. I had updated to the latest in the middle of the video, and it still didn't offer the Play Store option for this Chromebook. For the price point, I didn't expect it though.
Electrical code in the most of the US now requires plugs in the house to be installed "upside down" from the traditional, with the ground plug on top to keep from shorting a plug that is loose with an object on top of it.
The outlet should be oriented with the ground pin up because if the plug comes slightly loose and a metal object were to fall from above, the ground plug, which usually does not carry current, would deflect the object so that it would not hit is live prongs.
I just learned from a previous video that all Chromebooks will not boot up right out of the box. You have to plug them into their power adapters for several seconds before it will boot. It's supposedly a safety feature to keep them from damaging themselves in shipment, etc.
1:59 That's just like on the laptop I'm using right now... 2:51 I think it make sense that it's made by a "learning" company, who are probably the ones supplying Chrome OS devices to those schools, who would most likely be using it in conjunction with G Suite and Google Classroom.
The best budget laptops that you can get are made by acer. Any Acer Chromebook for a budget will work a little better than some cheaper chromebooks. even a 200$ Acer chromebook is most better quality. I spent 75$ on a Acer Chromebook And its been really fast. No Slowdowns. Runs youtube perfectly with 4 other chrome tabs.
Just to say now is that chromebooks arent for gaming i bought a £400 chromebook and the fps was around 30-40 frames per second which isnt good for gaming just to keep that in mind who wanted it for gaming
I just purchased this Chromebook myself. I found it at jet.com with a 15% coupon that made it $97 after tax. I was actually going to make a video of this, too, but I don't have great video editing software right now. It works well for me, but I've been through 2 of these Chromebooks and both have had track pad issues. The curser jumps around sporadically at time and I can't tap click. I resolved it by using a Bluetooth mouse. Since I'm using this primarily for writing papers it serves it's purpose well. I'll probably get a proper one later maybe next year. have you had any issues with the tracks?
Anthony Ramos I also have an issue with the trackpad, yesterday I went out and bought a chromebook asus c202 and as soon as I opened it the track pad won't work. It doesn't respond to my finger and no mouse appears on screen. Unfortunately I have to return it now.
Great video! Regarding the power plug, it's recommended (maybe required) that all new outlets include the ground (the "third" pin) at the top. This is to prevent something like a coin or other metallic object from resting on top the other two leads and shorting the connection in the instance that a plug is loose and the cable hangs out slightly.
Trains For Life • I have a hp chromebook for $260 and 3years warranty I’m tryin sellin it I brought it on nov 27 2017 I just use it for 3days I’m usin my iPad if u want it let me know msg me okay I’m tryin to sell it 😬😬😬😑😐 I brought it on cyber day but the laptop was $170 but the 3years is $260 I have the ticket
FYI this is just a rebrand of the Hisense/Haier 11" Chromebook. I mean I think those two have slightly different materials/construction and battery capacity, but they're otherwise the same machine. This Epik one strongly resembles the Hisense one though, which I have as a throwaway/backup and got for ~$90 refurbished about a year ago.
Chromebooks wont power on until you plug them in for the first time by default. Its some sort of safety feature - the battery is initially disconnected until the charger is plugged in to avoid shipping fire hazards
Chromebooks ship with a firmware block that disconnects the battery until you plug them into the wall. It's to keep the battery from going flat in shipping since that can permanently damage the cells.
having to plug in the power adapter before the first usage is a safety feature. The device is shipped in a shipping mode in which it is unable to be turned on by any accident.
For some reason Chrome OS requires the AC adapter to be connected in order to complete first boot. It's likely some sort of battery safety safeguard of some sort Google has mandated on the hardware.
The idea of the computer having 89% battery but not turning on is a security measure. The idea is that you have to have the power brick in order for the first charge lock to be removed. After the first charge lock is removed after you first plug it in the Chromebook doesn't have to be plugged in to be turned on.
I got a Chrome book for $80 from ebay thats pretty nice, when power goes out or bad weather it still rocks. As long as my att is on (which works when the power goes out) it picks up everything you ever wanted to see or do online. Lose internet and it is pretty much like a fish on dry land. I like it tho.
For those looking to get a Chromebook, I'd recommend the Acer Chromebook R 11. It's around $250 if you get it on sale, so about twice the price, but you get a nice touchscreen, decent speakers, etc. And it's still under $300.
Reinaldo Cruz Sierra the Samsung Chromebook Pro is awesome, I have watched many videos about it, it is so worth $519 i am just about to get it!!!! (within 3 months) so maybe not just about to but I am as soon as I have the money.
Actually, having the ground pin at the top of an electrical receptacle is standard for most of the world,. The two largest US manufacturers of them show the ground pin up in their illustrations and physically label the molded bodies to be read with them in that orientation. The "frowny face" orientation seems to have been popularized by one of the electrical trade schools run by a local union, whose president was coincidentally the head of the large municipal electrical regulatory body. "Frowny face " mounting is contrary to good practice since it conceals the fact that an ungrounded appliance is connected and it is responsible for the grounding pins of molded cord being damaged during careless removal. This was of such concern to the JCAHC (Hospital Accreditation ) that a special category of receptacles and plugs was created for hospital use with explicit directions on their installation.
I have an Asus C202S that didn't support Android at first, but about a month ago, it was updated and now supports it. So one day your Epik may gain it as well.
Why do people need to buy a *new* Chromebook? Why not get something like a Thinkpad? I got a ThinkPad t430 for $150 refurbished, Intel i5 quad core, 8gb of RAM, 320gb HDD and Windows 10 for just $50 more than that hunk of plastic.
It's all bout marketing, true speed is not Ghz, its MIPS(milion instruction per sec), and not even that as instructions can be more complex or more simple :D, not to mention that multiple core software is just garbage. Yeah ...lots of computing power , so dam slow software....
Thinkpads are pretty heavy and fugly in comparison. Personally I prefer a good ol' Thinkpad, but I can easily see why someone would get a Chromebook instead.
I've read that Chromebooks require the device to be plugged in to enable the battery out of the box. Not sure how that works, but that is the word on the street. Thanks for making the video.
When I first purchased mine, it was good. Now, 2 years later, it sucks. Ever time I unplug it, the chrome book shuts down. Then I have to plug it up and keep opening and shutting it until it loads
I love my Acer Chromebook cb3-111 and watching you with it right now. Been my go to computer for almost 2 years now. It auto updates as you mention and auto antivirus keeps mine running as fast as when I bought it. (unlike most Win or Apple OS). All the rest of my family now has one and I never hear complaints or problems...
i am a total noob when it comes to Chromebooks...never used one at all, never had much interest in one.....but when you mentioned the Android app support, that kind of got my attention. I take it only certain Chromebooks support Android apps? Or is there any updates that need to be done to allow for that? For $129 (price it is now), this doesn't seem to be that bad of a system to take on a trip. It would only be used for internet use and even if I'm not near wifi, I can tether my phone data...
DvdXploitr I bought one purely because of the android apps / Google play addition. Altho I have an Acer R13, all the "recent" chromebooks seem to have it in the beta channel (you just switch in the chromebook settings to beta update) The Acer R11 is kinda budget and is compatible too. Love mine. Give a Chromebook a try - they ain't PCs but great for browsing, videos, music and android apps (some can be buggy though)
I would suggest getting a touchscreen chromebook, because it is a lot better in using tablet mode and computer mode so you can play more apps with android.
I let my brother use my old macbook pro for college and I took his old hp stream 11" version. I wiped the windows 8 on it to free up some space and threw my favorite linux distro on it and its been a great little companion to take with me. I also carry a 1st generation ipad pro 12.9" that I got from my Dad.
I bought myself a Chromebook and I returned it about three weeks later. I know, for a price of 180 € we can't expect much, but its performance was too poor (it crashed on multiple occasions while I was just working on some pdfs and google docs - so 3-4 tabs opened). This problem was consistent even with regularly cleaning the cache and enabling the swap option for 2gb more Ram. So, for me, it was not worth its money, because of the consistent crashes - very annoying while you try to make annotations during lectures. On the other hand I got hooked to the multi-touchpad and the high endurance of the Chromebook. That's why I decided to expand the budget "a bit" and get me something more expensive. ^^
I just bought one, i can not acess the internet when i try to it says that it is not secured and i do not know how to activate window defender how did you acess the web?
Does it feel light? I’m looking for a computer that’s cheap but could hold my work. I do Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint at work I need a computer so I could work at home then use the flash drive for work. That computer looks great
i modded my chromebook and installed windows 10 and installed a 256gb ssd cant remember what it was actually called. but i did it for pretty cheep also broke the screen once and replaced the screen by myself pretty easly. it can play some games pretty decently like minecraft and skyrim and its pretty fast and has all drivers that are needed. dont ask me how to do it. its pretty easy just google it
great explanation for this EPIK I am considering getting it...I needed a computer & my sister said try DELL I have mine 2 yrs & it works fine.....ordered DELL 17 in. didnt work from Day 1 extremely slow screen went black alot cursor was all over the place next day called csr service returns was told they would p/up & send new replacement if that didnt work would take back & return money after waiting about 12 days called DELL was told on its way asked for tracking # he said sorry not even built waiting for a part I asked about warranty was told 1st day started when it was ordered....I said 30 days will be up about 10 days & its not even made yet if the replacement is bad I cant return it he said thats the policy he said you can get money back now if you want of course I did & got ACER 14 in. chromebook at Walmarts called Acer help was hung up on but chromebook worked great for 11 months & died just threw away on the hunt for a chromebook after your review will try EPIK can return easy if doesnt work///THANKS for the help!!!
That plug is not "upside-down", the ground is supposed to be on top. Two reasons. The other way around, it looks like a smiley face, attracting small children to play with the plug. The second reason, if a conductive material were to fall across the pins of a plug that had come out some from the wall, it would short those pins causing a fire. With the ground pin up, this cannot happen.
I loved my Chromebook at first...and I still do for the most part, but it seems to always have some weird trackpad issues. It really drives me crazy. I am constantly looking for fixes or youtube videos on Chromebook trackpad issues because every time it seems to be fixed, it starts doing it again. Other than that, I enjoy my Chromebook. I have the 14" white HP version.
same lol i had a slim asus chromebook and the trackpad just died one day. it doesnt go down, its permanently clicked down, but you can still tap to use it, moving it around just moves it in random directions
I have a chromebook that is EXACTLY like that. Only differences is ram, storage, logo and manual. Every single other thing is EXACT under the brand Hisense. Even the box is exactly the same
I'm using a grandpa (Acer C720) and it's unusable at times. Lag, freezing, with only 2-4 tabs open. I'm in a major need of an upgrade to either another Chromebook or back to a Windows :/
Try streaming UA-cam through VLC player, I bet 720 60fps will be a lot smoother, might make 1080p watchable. You can also watch a dvd through an external dvd player with VLC (usb dvd player burners don't need a separate powers source)
Jordan, does your Epik Chromebook update any longer? Mine is stuck on OS version***Version 79.0.3945.119 Has it reached its end of life for auto updates?
Considering baytrail tablets running win8.1/android (upgradeable to win10) are sub $100 but feature x86 processors instead of arm giving support for windows & various flavours of linux, i feel it's a better choice in comparison to a chromebook simply because of compatibility and legacy support for applications. In 2014 i purchased one online for $110 CAD (similar devices costing $80 USD with the cheapest at $60 from microcenter if you live in the states). Been using it to watch video's in bed on firefox which actually gives me the option to use adblock unlike my phone or any chromebook. That alone justified the price. It's also solid for UWP applications and lightweight x86 such as the MS office suite. It's still got: - HDMI - Micro USB (came with an OTG cable for fullsize USB 2.0) - Bluetooth 4.0 - 3.1mm audio jack - 6hour battery Where it's lacking: - Screen is only 1280x800 but is surprisingly IPS and not TN (i know, insane for the price right? I'd take a slightly lower res with better colours as long as it's above 720p for general modern webpage compatibility) - 16GB flash emc storage while windows 8.1 eats 50% of it (some have 32GB+) - 1-4GB ram (depending on model. 1GB ram is enough for win8.1 and a couple tabs. literally just 2, otherwise serious slowdown) - Limited by 32bit windows (64bit only apps wont work. Still better than just ARM)
Walmart was selling a $127 11 inch Nextbook Windows 10 2-in-one a couple of years ago (It was a Rollback to clear the stock. I got 2... one for myself, and one to give as a gift... Works great for a "walkabout" device (or for a student)... Walmart is a good source for budget computin, ifyou can catch the rollbacks/clearances...

pssst3 I appreciate the explanation since I was wondering what was going on there
pssst3 damn secure boot, newsflash I don't need someone to hold my hand and decide for me that I don't need to boot from USB or anything.

No they don't actually I am using a Chromebook right now. I reset it/ powerwashed it a few times already because Developer Mode
They only need to be plugged in on the first boot.
dawson ramdass That's pretty much what he said. "Initial setup" as in first time you boot it.
It's really to start the battery up as it must be 100% off in shipping and storage for several reasons.

@@jasminbengochea7476 id recommend google docs. Much better.
@@dabanaba I'd actually go one step further and recommend a LaTeX editor like Overleaf. Shit's incredible. But yes, Google Docs is adequate too.
For $100 it ain't bad

Just wait for ARM Macbooks ;)
umm
I have the samsung chromebook 3 and it lasts me about 3 or 4 days on one charge if I don't watch youtube.
It has android apps in the beta channel.
i got the same one for the same price a couple weeks ago and i love it
Almost all new chrome books you have to plug in and charge before it comes on.
Not bad at all i would say for 100 bucks. I really suspected it would have 2GB of memory. can you put linux on this and maybe make a review of that?
Digital Insan1ty chrome OS is Linux so theoretically you can run Linux apps on it.
Ibraheem Productions it’s based of the Linux kernel. It’s not Linux it self. You also can’t run any programs that aren’t on the chrome web store.
Well You can now and i think its based on suse or gentoo
I know you can use Termux to use the terminal though.

QTorroba correct me if I am wrong but I believe there is Skype web client
Bratislav Todorovic you can get a Chromebook that allows play store apps and then download the play store version of Skype.
Skype does NOT work on ChromeOS. Skype requires either an app, or the full client to be installed.

This chromebook is $360 on walmart now!!!
I've been using an Acer Chromebook ($87 sale) for a couple of years and, now, only rarely go to the desktop or Windows laptop. Happy I bought it.
Anthony Ramos try using davinci resolve
Great video! Regarding the power plug, it's recommended (maybe required) that all new outlets include the ground (the "third" pin) at the top. This is to prevent something like a coin or other metallic object from resting on top the other two leads and shorting the connection in the instance that a plug is loose and the cable hangs out slightly.
I want a chrome book for my birthday for school and UA-cam and Netflix, so would you say this would be a good one for me?
Trains For Life • Walmart selling a 200$ Samsung one for 119$ for Black Friday , check their website
Trains For Life • yesss
Trains For Life • I have a hp chromebook for $260 and 3years warranty I’m tryin sellin it I brought it on nov 27 2017 I just use it for 3days I’m usin my iPad if u want it let me know msg me okay I’m tryin to sell it 😬😬😬😑😐 I brought it on cyber day but the laptop was $170 but the 3years is $260 I have the ticket
Nope...
Of course he has an epik from Walmart you should get the chromebook from best buy on the Google app
Would it work for VIDEO editing?
Nevermind
Sadly, my MacBook Pro is not in the room.
4:45 *COUGH COUGH PNEUMONIA LEVEL 9000 COUGH COUGH COOUUUGGGGHHHHH*
having to plug in the power adapter before the first usage is a safety feature.
The device is shipped in a shipping mode in which it is unable to be turned on by any accident.
For some reason Chrome OS requires the AC adapter to be connected in order to complete first boot. It's likely some sort of battery safety safeguard of some sort Google has mandated on the hardware.
What watch are you wearing? It's pretty cool
It appears to be very similar to my Hisense Chromebook that I really enjoy. Not bad at all.
The idea of the computer having 89% battery but not turning on is a security measure. The idea is that you have to have the power brick in order for the first charge lock to be removed. After the first charge lock is removed after you first plug it in the Chromebook doesn't have to be plugged in to be turned on.
You never gave an opinion about the trackpad. :(
I got a Chrome book for $80 from ebay thats pretty nice, when power goes out or bad weather it still rocks. As long as my att is on (which works when the power goes out) it picks up everything you ever wanted to see or do online. Lose internet and it is pretty much like a fish on dry land. I like it tho.
Lol, that is a great deal, considering a Dell laptop charger is $80. You have an entire computer for $100. Omg, I am rolling in laughter.
For those looking to get a Chromebook, I'd recommend the Acer Chromebook R 11. It's around $250 if you get it on sale, so about twice the price, but you get a nice touchscreen, decent speakers, etc. And it's still under $300.
Fantastic review, Jordan. I've been looking for a new chromebook. I'm probably going with something a tad faster, though.
Colin Bloodworth try the Asus 302 or the Samsung Chromebook plus or pro
Reinaldo Cruz Sierra the Samsung Chromebook Pro is awesome, I have watched many videos about it, it is so worth $519 i am just about to get it!!!! (within 3 months) so maybe not just about to but I am as soon as I have the money.
the Asus Chromebook flip c302 is good too, or the regular ASUS Chromebook c302
So one day your Epik may gain it as well.
make a video on whats your camera equipment and how do you film your whole stuff
I've done a few recently. :)

Did Mark Rothko paint your pictures on the wall?
Why do people need to buy a *new* Chromebook? Why not get something like a Thinkpad?
I got a ThinkPad t430 for $150 refurbished, Intel i5 quad core, 8gb of RAM, 320gb HDD and Windows 10 for just $50 more than that hunk of plastic.
Scott Chiste Cause windows is messy and slow.
Scott Chiste you mean i5 dual core four threads right?
Windows 10 is $6 or more. and it's free if you don't mind a watermark or no custimization
I have both the old and newest yogabooks, they both had half charged batteries but wouldn't turn on. Till I connected them to the power brick.
So a crome book is basically a tablet with a keyboard?
'90% of the time I spend on a computer is on pornhu, er, Patreon !' ;)
Great review, showed me more than I would have thought to ask. Thank you so much!
Can i use audacity with this?
The real question is can you install Microsoft Edge?
Can you game on a Chromebook? With discs or DVDs?
Great presentation, Thanks. Does this Chromebook use android apps?
I just bought one, i can not acess the internet when i try to it says that it is not secured and i do not know how to activate window defender how did you acess the web?
if it has built in virus protection how come it isnt on do i have to turn it on?
Does it feel light? I’m looking for a computer that’s cheap but could hold my work. I do Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint at work
I need a computer so I could work at home then use the flash drive for work.
That computer looks great

4:14 Why is Windows running on it?
i modded my chromebook and installed windows 10 and installed a 256gb ssd cant remember what it was actually called. but i did it for pretty cheep also broke the screen once and replaced the screen by myself pretty easly. it can play some games pretty decently like minecraft and skyrim and its pretty fast and has all drivers that are needed. dont ask me how to do it. its pretty easy just google it
Hi! Just want to ask what camera do you use? I think its pretty good!
is it possible with this chromebook to make simple video editing output to 720p ?
*proceeds to watch this video on a 80 dollar chromebook*
Are you able to operate Microsoft Word and Excel?
Yes. The a17 architecture is from 13/14

Even the box is exactly the same
And I got it for $100 refurbished. Google store lists it for $150
Greenwolf24 the
on version 66 all divices support google play. (if they have an arm or intel processor)
I remember when you got the CR-48 ... I think that was the first This Week in Linux video I ever watched :)
What camera do you use facing yourself, amazing quality of picture? thanks and nice Video!
but can it run galliumOS or lubuntu? If it can run Mate, then it would defiantly be worth it, but if it can run GalliumOS then I would still buy it.
I'm using a grandpa (Acer C720) and it's unusable at times. Lag, freezing, with only 2-4 tabs open. I'm in a major need of an upgrade to either another Chromebook or back to a Windows :/
For 109 Bucks it great to surf the web , buy stuff added Plus its NOT WINDOWS or MAC
true and true. I'm probably going to do at least one more video with it at some point soon showing how it can do even more when you put Crouton on it
Brian Michaels macOS (or OS X if you haven't updated your Mac) and Windows are just as good operating systems!
Brian Michaels ive got a mac, two chromebooks, and like 5 laptops
VapeTime but why? Do you have a family?
VapeTime you rich man.
Yes
Need to do a factory reset on mine. I've watched other videos online but none of them work on this laptop.. Any Advice??
Does this support the Google play store?
Most new laptops/chromebooks require it to be plugged into the outlet to activate the battery.
I think this would be great for a online schooling laptop, think I'm gonna go for it. Thanks for this review!
It's still got:
- HDMI
- Micro USB (came with an OTG cable for fullsize USB 2.0)
- Bluetooth 4.0
- 3.1mm audio jack
- 6hour battery
Where it's lacking:
- Screen is only 1280x800 but is surprisingly IPS and not TN (i know, insane for the price right? I'd take a slightly lower res with better colours as long as it's above 720p for general modern webpage compatibility)
- 16GB flash emc storage while windows 8.1 eats 50% of it (some have 32GB+)
- 1-4GB ram (depending on model. 1GB ram is enough for win8.1 and a couple tabs. literally just 2, otherwise serious slowdown)
- Limited by 32bit windows (64bit only apps wont work.
Really liked my chromebook, lasted 3 years and the security chip busted out. Should have disabled security maybe (developer mode or linux install?).
