The way Tifa sticks the landing on the wall is just one of those badass movie fight scene moments that are just stuck with me for decades. It's just impossibly cool looking.
Man it was the somersault combo she hit that dude with. I was like ok not just one but THREE kicks and it was so much finesse in that once instance

The story mostly only makes sense if you know the game quite well.
I mean, if I start my DVD copy, it says right there (paraphrasing) „for all our friends and family who loves this game, this reunion is dedicated for you“.

Tifa says that later in the movie, "When we fought that last battle, imagine how powerful we felt. It's only been 2 years, but already that feeling is gone." Meaning that since they've all been 2 years without any real intense fighting, they lost their levels. So Imagine this as a level 20 Tifa going up against a level 30 Loz.

@@zenixvampirchik652 the only one to use materia in the movie was Kadaj's gang. Cloud didnt even use any against sephy and still emerged victorious. Rpg equipment element of the game has no need to be in a real movie. That stuff is for the ridiculous youtube fanfic vids, or for jokes by Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear Solid 2's infinite ammo bandana.

When I first watched this scene, I thought it was just proof of how insane Tifa is, and despite the fact that it does her justice showing her skill, it is more proof of how strong Loz is because of being a descendant of Sephoroth/Jenova, he was LITERALLY fast enough to react to and counter attack Tifa through her limit break. Though it wasn't her final limit that is still insane.

If you pay attention really well, Tifa was actually using her Limit Break skills. Beat Rush 0:21 > Water Kick 0:26 > Somersault 0:44 > Meteor Strike 1:22

The animators managed to pay homage to almost all of her Limit Breaks in one minute. You can say what you want about the story but this work of art is always going to be one for VII fans to gush over. ツ

@@Avenus112 Loz is not a random. He is a remnant. They can all easily wipe the floor with the heroes except for Cloud and Vincent. She got her moment by winning when he was holding back. Anything else would have been ridiculous. There are worlds between Tifa and the others when being compared to the super mega ridiculously strong ones that are more than just the best of 128 of Zangan's students.
@@Cetra29 ya a remnant of Sephiroth, whose progenitor she annihilated. Loz should be much weaker than Sephiroth and Sephiroth should be weaker than Jenova, otherwise what kind of calamity would Jenova be?
Also i dont totally recall the film but i also dont remember anything that established why Loz would be so tough.

The character designs in this movie had the perfect balance of zippers, straps, and buckles.
Nomura is fan of those things.
they had to tie Nomura to a chair after the 6th zipper and second unnecessary belt.
Maybe for an edgy 12 year old. Cloud and barret look completely ridiculous in this compared to their designs in the remake.
ray weaver You must not have seen much of Nomura’s work around this time, because they’re still tame compared to a lot of what he was doing around then.
@@always_serpico That has nothing to do with how they look in the remake vs what they look like in this movie. I've played most mainline ff games and kingdom hearts I'm pretty familiar with his work and most of his designs after ff7 (aside from ff9 and 12 because he didn't work on those) were pretty ridiculous but that doesn't change the fact that they also look ridiculous in advent children. In fact I would go as far as to say that ff7 was the only good thing that Nomura ever did and after that he just went completely overboard in nearly everything that he has done since then. At least the ff7 remake looks pretty good and doesn't seem to have too much of his edgy influence but we'll see when the full game comes out.
Still insanity to this day that she lost to Loz. Knowing the original lore and understanding how much of a badass tifa is made me so mad that she lost.

Exactly! But as if it was fate I got recommended this video after rewatching this film today and she says something along the lines of ‘the past 2 years has made us forget how to fight but Cloud needed this to remember.’ So I’m not all that surprised anymore.
Tifa is badass. But not an all-mighty Mary Sue from MARVEL. Loz is faster, stronger and is armed.

@@endershepard7117 badly loaded textures are one of the most well known data streaming bugs in unreal engine 4. it is totally fixable. just you wait for the PC release next year, you'll see FF7R in its full 4K 60FPS glory.

Used to watch this movie as a little kid all the time. I remember finding the DVD in my dad’s stuff and randomly putting it into the player. I also had the UMD for it since it came with my PSP. Why are the sound effects still so satisfying?

Kingdom hearts II came out around the time this came out, so they had to put some of the crazy physics in that one. It was a great addiction though.

Aries (Arieth) was my favorite female in ff7.Her getting stabbed and killed didn't really hit me that hard when I first saw it because I didn't really think she was actually dead or would stay dead...it wasnt until hours in disc 2 when i realized, yes she ain't coming back and was kind of bummed.

It's been 27 years since the OG FFVII came out. It's been 18 years since Advent Children came out. It seems crazy to me that at the time I didn't realise FFVII had only been out 9 years as it feels like AC only came out like 10 years ago or something. I am old. I am very old.
