Beth, thanks so much for a great recipe. I lost my beloved wife three years ago, but she loved lobster in all recipes. I know she would have loved this dish...It turned out great, .so I dedicate it to her in your honor.
Aww I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes I'm sure she would have loved this one too! I often make dishes my late brother loved to honor him too :) especially around the holidays it's a way to keep their presence with us :) So glad you enjoyed it!!
Beth, I still am sharing this with the world to this very day. AND my wife and I shall be making this the very first day that we move to Portland , Oregon. I still adore you as so many others do. So be it.
Aw what a sweet comment. These are the comments that always make my day, because that is truly my hope for you guys. That this channel inspires you to have people over and cook for them. There's no better sincerest form of friendship than to sit down to a beautiful meal together! Thanks again for your kind words and support!
Greetings from Malaysia, Beth! I tried this last night to celebrate my mother discharging from the hospital! Everybody loved it. Thank you so much. My first time trying to cook lobster and your help made me look a pro!
Beth, I am finally home from college and I am pleased to say that we are going to be having Beth week trying a lot of your recipes I have been watching religiously for weeks at school! Yay!
Sure! I always wondered if you guys would be interested in this? LIKE this comment, if so, and I shoot a video giving you guys a little tour of my vegetable garden with some gardening tips! :)
Aw your first comment, what an honor! :) And the fact that I make you want to cook more makes my day! These are my favorites comments, as I'm on a personal mission to get people to fall back in love with their kitchens! As for the wine, no worries, just add about 2 tsp of lemon zest (not the juice) Enjoy!
I made this last night. I only had dry sherry so instead I added 1/8 cup of dry sherry and 1/8 cup of a sweet brandy I had on hand and it worked! You're right on the importance of the liquor (sherry) to be sweet, to compliment the lobster's sweetness. This the most delicous lobster dish I ever made! I was planning to make a different dish for Holidays celebration, however I think I'm making this instead. Your tutorial makes this recipe super easy to follow. Thank you!
Hi Mary! So glad it was a hit! Isn't it yummy? This is another great recipe with Lobster for the holidays. Similar in some aspects but different in others. ua-cam.com/video/LvrAbYHAl6s/v-deo.html Now that you are on a "Lobster roll!" :) Ha! Hope you enjoy and Happy Holidays!!
Aw thank you :) For this one I had the Kin Community Crew, but I am now starting to shoot and edit them myself :) I use the Canon T31 Rebel cameras. They are great! :)
Just made today! To die for! So good!!! And I made ahead! Yum! Definitely serve with the Dijon vinaigrette salad! Yum!!! Thank you so much Beth! More classic French dishes please!!!!!
Aw, that will be a happy day for sure! Just in case I don't get to my burger recipe before then. Here's my technique. Mix 1 lb of hamburger meat, 1 egg, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1 tbsp Herbs de Provence. Mix, form patties, place 1 pat of butter in the center of the burger, and cover with burger (makes them extra juicy!) Brush with olive oil each side, and BBQ. Brush buns with melted butter, grill lightly. Serve with smokey ketchup (in brunch menu vid) Enjoy!
Oh yes, homemade ice cream is really my guilty pleasure! We'll definitely be doing that this summer. And a few sorbets you can make without a machine. Stay tuned!
Hi Beth! Greetings from Kuwait! It’s Friday & our weekend here. I’ve just made the Lobster Thermidor as per your recipe (didn’t change a thing!)& I’m so thrilled with the result. I’ve always eaten it at restaurants, never ever dreamt I would be able to attempt this exotic dish at home. So grateful to you!
Aww Hi Jackie! I'm so glad it was a hit! This is one of my favorite recipes too :) It's amazing how the more you cook, you'll find your own creations can be even better than what you find it restaurants! :) So glad you enjoyed!!
I've been wanting to cook Lobster Thermidor for a while now and so far your recipe is the most appealing looking one. Everyone else looks like they made stuffed shrimp with a lobster. Good job Beth
Ah yes. Even though a lot of my recipes are French inspired, I do have Italian roots and those dishes are all my favorite comfort foods! They will show up here soon for sure :)
Well, you should really cook the lobster at the last min to avoid it getting rubbery. BUT you can make the sauce before hand. In the video I show you the stage where you can prep before. Enjoy! :)
LOL! Rex your comment cracks me up because we had that expression at my house growing up, I think started by my dad (lover of all things delicious!) and he will always say, "It's so good you will cry!". And yes, this dish definitely fits the bill! :)
Ha! Well actually it's traditionally French, but Americans celebrated it in the 60s and 70s thanks to Julia Child, an American Chef who popularized French Cuisine (and made it accessible!) during that time. Her old videos are here on YT and are such fun to watch! She was a classic and inspires me in the kitchen
YOU ARE BEYOND AMAZING and you have no idea what a huge smile you put on my face! Thank you so very much for the shout out and for yet another wonderful recipe! Happy Mother's Day, Luv! xoxo
I just made this tonight for dinner and my family loved it! Much easier than I thought. My eldest has been asking for this since he saw Lego batman! He says he wants it everyday! Delicious!
YAY! So glad it was a hit! OK but now you must tell me about how it shows up in Lego Batman, because when that movie came out I received a lot of views on this video with comments about how it showed up after a lego batman trailer?! I haven't seen the movie so now I'm really curious how it relates?! LOl!
@@EntertainingWithBeth in the movie Alfred leaves Batman Lobster Thermidor in the fridge. There's a long scene of him reheating it in the microwave once he gets home. Then he eats it sitting on a batman jet ski. My son is a huge batman fan. Lobster thermidor is now his favorite meal!
Oh yes! That one I would love to do, especially around the holidays. In fact I really love to do individual Beef Wellingtons. Makes for such a pretty presentation and then everyone gets their own little "package" of pretty tasting beef. Yes we need to do this one for sure come December :)
Hi beth, i have been wanting to do a beef wellington for a while now but i cant have mush3and my daughter cant have nuts. Do you have a substitute that i may possibly use to complete this beautiful meal?
+Jana Jiménez Aww thank you Jana. This channel is really a "labor of love" for me and it gives me great joy to share my passion with the world. Thank you for your support! :)
This looks so good!!! It's great to get new fish and seafood idea's because growing up Italian we only eat fish on Christmas Eve so great to get new ideal!! Thank you for sharing love your video's!!!
I love this recipe and I will try it soon thxs for all these delicious recipes i've watched so many of them and loved them all. I hope one day I will be able to meet you because you're my big inspiration for cooking. Thanks again Beth!
Our book club has been together since 1998. We meet once a month for dinner. Over the years we've read hundreds of amazing and not so amazing books and have had numerous colorful discussions! There are six of us and we are all big readers/foodies so getting a commitment hasn't been difficult. Last month we read "The Bucolic Plague: How two Manhattanites became gentleman farmers" by Josh Kilmer-Purcell. It was a great read and one foodies and bloggers will love!
Ha! Yes this one is a yummy one :) My Cocquilles St Jacques recipe is similar and also just as good. And scallops can usually be found a bit cheaper too! Or even frozen works :) So glad it was a hit!
Thank you so much for all your recipes Beth! Thanks to you I have officially become to go-to chef for dinner parties among friends and family! And I must give you props for this recipe! The cream was exquisite and the tip on the wine really made this dinner a NOCK OUT for the in-laws!
Ha right? Isn't that the best wine with seafood? :) So glad it was a hit with the in-laws! (Such a great feeling isn't it? :) and that you are becoming the go-to-chef! You take all the credit my friend (and I'll remain your secret weapon! LOL!) Keep cooking!
Just made this tonight for Valentines Day. Definitely inspired by the Lego Batman movie. I could only find tails that were about 4.5 oz, so I had to adjust the other ingredients and I’m a little hungry... should have done surf and turf.
OK John I must ask, because I've seen this comment re: the Batman Lego movie a few times ha! Apparently this video is coming up after some video about this movie. Does Batman eat Lobster Thermidor in the movie? Ha! Trying to figure out how these 2 topics are related ha! :)
Beth, yes, there's a scene in the LEGO Batman movie where Batman comes home after a hard day of crimefighting, looking for some grub. Alfred thoughtfully left his lobster thermidor in the fridge, so Batman pulls it out, and was *almost* going to nuke it for 20 minutes, but thinks better of it and resets it to 2 minutes. Just my opinion, but the thermidor should be placed in an oven, not a microwave for reheating! Thanks to the movie, a whole new generation has been introduced to lobster thermidor. I've made it several times, the latest was just last week. Trader Joe's Hollandaise sauce helps cut down the prep time. And, I sprinkle bread crumbs and butter on top before the final trip to the oven.
My pop had a buddy in the early 60s that was a sauce cook at all the best restauraunts from SF down into San Jose, and his thermador was almost identical but he would add a tiny dash of cayenne, not enough to identify it, but enough to be mysterious. Sometimes a light dash of wooshire as he called it. Yum!
Aw thanks for that. :) I had a GREAT DAY! So happy you enjoyed it! It's definitely a yummy treat to spoiled yourself with! You've earned it :) Ha ha ha enjoy my friend!
Another great cooking wine used by this old chef my dad knew is Vermouth. He used Sherry and Vermouth maybe interchangibly. I have used brandy myself to excellent effect. Great in whiskey crab soup.
Sure :) I LOVE Thai Green Curry! I have a vegetarian version in my Vegetarian Thanksgiving Menu Video on Kin Community which you could add chicken and/or shrimp to, this recipe could stand in until I can get to during a version here on this channel :)
I was surfing on youtube and discover your channel. i was very happy with your lobster thermidor so you have a new like and a new subscriber, and I follow your very nice recipes. Cheers
