I have to say it: This set would have been NOTHING without Fazzi. The way his performance treated the classics (including his own era) was truly a testament to how timeless the earlier songs of theirs are. Don't forget, these songs were made to be sung in the shower, in the car, in the mind. Sung loud. Sung when happy, sung when sad. Sung when fucking pissed. Sung when heartbroken, and especially sung when in love. In my own personal opinion, this set wouldn't have reminded me of that all these years later if it wasn't for Fazzi's craftily humble and carefully treated presence. Cheers. 152.
Fazzi rules. And the nicest dude to boot. Bought one of his guitars off of him that was on New Again and he was so nice to correspond with and I met him after the fact and during the New Again-era, and he was always cool.

Normally I don't even comment on videos in general, but in this case I absolutely must. I am a fan of many bands covering nearly all genres of music, some very complex and imposing... complicated and technical. Dream theater, symphony x, rush, the mars Volta, just to name a few. But THIS... this sends shivers down my spine. The synchronicity between these guys is fucking insane, it's never overdone through the whole concert, every member has exactly the perfect moment to shine or bring out a cadence in each song, it is just so well orchestrated and their placement for each part is literally perfect. As a classical concert pianist and practicing musician of 9 instruments throughout my journey, i would dare say this is one of the best, if not the absolute best demonstration of talent I have ever seen. Love this!!
I was gonna say the same damn thing! (I did similarly in a comment below) but yea man literally never comment but felt inspired, really think that mean something when you do. We all have been so much bullshit these few years and somehow seeing these guys being real and creative makes me want to keep navigating around all the aholes in life and make something great. Take care ✌️
I'm 20, watching this and listening to songs from the first 3 albums are like meeting a good old friend that meant a lot to me when I was 13. It's beautiful, thanks for uploading!
Best performance ever of cute without the e cut from the team and the best concert of theirs ever. Fazzi is what made them great, yes John and Fred sounded good on the recordings and sometimes sounded ok live but Fazzi just brought everything
With all due respect to fazzi who is an awesome musician, John and Fred are the main songwriters with Adam on their 3 greatest albums. TBS could have ended after Fred left and their legacy would be the same
I think of my twin brother, who's passed on at 27 and cry when I here this line sang. Feel guilty for trying to stop thinking about him because it hurts so bad thinking how died and him not being here.
also this cute without the e is like a celebration of all their songs. the crowd, the band, everything is like a moment in time that could never be replicated.
It's so bizarre how good his voice is compared to everyone else in TBS history. He sounds so polished and smooth, flawless pitch. It's the antithesis of Adam or John's raw voices.
@@ConnorDMoody I hate that Fred left too... his talent worked great for TBS, when I listen to his other projects I can't help to feel like something is missing
Still love hearing this wonderfully pieced acoustic session. How could anyone not fall in love with these notes, tones, and piercing lyrics? Very well put together. Thanks TBS for many years of enjoying this set piece. Love it!
12 years ago I listened to these songs with the greatest woman alive. She is lost to me now but I would I give up everything I have to these songs with her again. I hope you still think of me sometimes. I still have this cd you made for me of this performance. If you see this call me please.
seriously, matt rubano should've sang more and matt fazzi's vocals are honestly unreal. that man can sing. he added so much more emotion to the songs with his vocals.
lol, this is an absolutely exaggeration but you know, TBS with rubano and mascherino/fazzi was the best formation, and orensanz it's the only TBS record that i listen regularly
Damn you guys got talent! Always can tell when playing live - and on top of that semi-acoustic! Amazing, can’t believe I missed you guys somehow as was into the same alternative rock. Maybe my parents didn’t like the “Taking Back Sunday” band name and couldn’t get the CD? LMAO thanks Mom & Dad for screwing me out of knowing this talent. Glad to see y’all still posting videos in 2022. You guys really are inspiring! Let’s press on 🥁
Even tho i have downloaded this vid to my pc i still come back! love this vid. At Asaski, they played at my base in Germany at the beginning of 2012 and Adam sounded awesome
@@efrainsaucedo3134 why sadly? TBS wouldn't be anything close to where they were and are today without Adam. The best voice doesn't always make the best music as originality makes TBS sound they way they do. Another strong argument is lyrics. Do you think lyrically Fazzi would have come close to what Adam has helped create up until now? If you think so, check out Fazzi's other bands after being let go from TBS.
darren porras I agree that skill does not equal creativity, that's the difference between a musician and an artist. I said sadly, because the lead singer typically should be the best singer in the band. But as an untrained singer you can tell that Adam completely ruined his vocal cords after louder now; this is especially clear when you hear some of their more recent live performances. As for lyrics, when you analyze music as an art you realize that lyrics are not necessary for the art of music, they are poetry, a different art that compliments music. Looking back at the history of music, most music didn't have lyrics until the past century; so if we're analyzing them as musicians, lyrics don't matter. What matters is vocal tone, sustaining a note, vibrato, musicality, harmonization, among other factors. Empirically Fazzi is the better musician, but to be a successful frontman a lot more is necessary, such as stage presence and charisma both on and off stage which Adam had in spades. So yes, they would definitely not have gone in the same direction without Adam, but it's sad that, being the lead singer, he was not the best singer in his band at that time.
I have to say it: This set would have been NOTHING without Fazzi. The way his performance treated the classics (including his own era) was truly a testament to how timeless the earlier songs of theirs are. Wow this comment is fucking sick!! Totally agree fazzi came with respect to the oldies but not so much that he underplayed on anything
Fazzi was honestly perfect. I hate to say it but I almost like how he did Fred's parts better than Fred.
Fazzi rules. And the nicest dude to boot. Bought one of his guitars off of him that was on New Again and he was so nice to correspond with and I met him after the fact and during the New Again-era, and he was always cool.
agreed the singing on set phasers to stunn was so fucking good in this version, from both of them
New again was their best album in my opinion. Shame you can’t really hear Fazzi sing on it. My favorite live era of tbs is the new again touring cycle

One of the best song for me!!!!
My favorite TBS song!
it's 2021... never gets old man... never.. still awesome... the best TBS acoustic performance ever
2022
Make sure you watch this instead of seeing them live now. It'll break your heart .
Still my favorite live album. Fazzi has such a great voice.
The bass in " decade under the influence" is crazy awesome!!
Yeah
2020 and I still comeback to this often.....Fazzi has such a great voice. I don't think he fit like Fred did, but man was he amazing in this.
After seeing this performance Fazzi is now my favorite out of John & Fred lol
Fred 2nd John 3rd
No one will do what Fred did for that band....he took them to their highest level!
@DickChisqo420 your crazy for thinking Fred is 2nd 😂💀
I almost don't like him in taking back Sunday because of how good he sounds.
"We swing and we sway as this tiny voice in my head starts to sing "You're safe child you are safe."
He sure is a poet.
love how people still jam this in 2023 ❤❤
2024*
I wish i could be there in the past.
9/6/24 and I am watching this show at 11:36pm getting inspired; thinking back to simpler times.
LAZZara and FAZZi what a perfect voice symbiosis... I can listening them all day long.
Been listening to this for the last 7 years or so. And every time I fall in love with it all over again
the best unplugged vid on yt for me, never get bored of it.

2022. Adam screaming "Forget me is that simple" still got me tearing up, best acoustic ever 🤍

best live set of TBS. change my mind.
Fazzi has such a great voice.

If you see them live in 2024 Adam is singing in this cadence for every show
2019 and still loving this. they don't make it like they used to
i dont understand why they are so less known now than before.
Back in the day with Fred mascherino or with Fazzi they were at the top of everything
Fazzi was the glue to this performance, every accoustic set they've had is missing those sweet vocals.
faz is their best live back up singer i think, fred best writer and best over all on albums singing.
This will keep you sane through anything
This is such an absolutely killer rendition of a decade under the influence. Mic drop
I love you all so much thank you
