I almost left my premier tonight 6m was off the hook right after. 6m is a easy band to get a decent gain antenna, I have the hex and Moxon videos for 6m antennas. For a small antenna check out the halo.

If Yaesu would upgrade the 991A to a better faster screen like the 7300, I’d buy one. The screen in the 991a reminds
me of Minecraft. I know it’s not really required but I’m spoiled lol.

Been a ham for a long time. Never messed with 6m until my neighbor put up LED lights that blocked all of HF. I’ve spent the last week calming myself after losing all HF bands. What I discovered is that 6M is amazing. I built a thrown together dipole. I hot glued it together lol. It works great for a temporary set up. Yes I think I need a 2 element something.

Well now you have lol, yea it's to bad more Hams don't try the 6 meter band , the night of my premier 6m opened up and I made 4 contacts to Alabama , 2 to Colorado and another into Tennessee. Thanks for the comment and watching!

@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures Just scanning the bands I've never heard anything but a baby monitor on 49Mhz. Do you always use 50.125?

I have been a Ham for 28 years. I tried 6m in the 90’s. A guy was calling CQ. I answered. He was in my own town. Lol.
This week I decided to unhook my HF antenna and only work 6m. It has been eye opening. I put a Hot Glued dipole up at 25 feet. It has been AWESOME. I might not go back to HF because it’s just too easy.

Great video, Chuck. It looks like you bleed Yaesu, too. I've been on the fence between the FT-991A and the IC-7300 for awhile. What do you recommend for a man-portable 6m antenna? Oh, and what's up with the wall?

Check out a Halo antenna for 6m or a small 3 element yagi. Actually the hexbeam can break down pretty good and is a great antenna 2 elements. Also a moxon might be the lightest and easy to make. That wall is a old water revivor and they like to tag it , no one really sees it. I love the 991A but you have 2 radios that do 2m and 70cm. I have videos on the moxon and hexbeam if you need help let me knoe and 6m was just open 4 contacts to AL, 2 to CO and 1 into TN.

Good event. Now that I have a decent HF Antenna and a good Base 2M antenna, I need to decide which 6M to build. The next great era of 6M is dawning. And there is even a 6M repeater in my area of SO OR WD7FGX. I met him once, he seems to be a good guy. WS7PB 73

You need two antennas one for the repeater a vertical and one for SSB I have a cdouple builds on my channel for 6m the hex in the video and a Moxon both pretty easy.

FT-991A, it has HF-6m plus 2m and 70cm it's a great radio and a lot of bang for the buck.

@Spike S I agree the 991A gives you a lot of radio at what 130 more than a 7300 and N4HNH shows how good the superhep radios are and the hybrids take to another level. Doug also says in one of those video that the 991A holds it's own with thr FTDX10.
