  • We at Bradypat RC recently purchased the FTX Ravine. Great rig for the money. We took some advice from THYC RC who commented on our unboxing video that taking the foams out of the tyres for improved grip. Bingo...bang on advice, better grip and less noise from the tyres. Check out our unboxing video and check out THYC RC channel, just follow the links below 👍
    Massive thanks to THYC RC 👊

    Glad I could help bud 👊😊 another free mod I done to my ftx Rockslide was to cable tie the battery on top on the front axle, it would climb up most things.
    There might be spare holes on the chassis to move your shocks forward giving you a lower ride for a better centre of gravity. All free and reversible if you change your mind 😊

    Don't put thread lock on plastic, it eats into it, only on metal to metal, trust me I've learnt by experience!!

    It's such a light weight rig it doesn't need the foams. You could have saved some time by leaving the beadlock rim in place on one side

    looks a good rig. I myself would wrap lead soldiering wire around the wheels. With some tape holding in place an refit the wheels. Will drop down your center of gravity. Less tumbles an give more grip 10 to 30grams per wheel would make nice difference

      I’d just stick it on top the servos, less wear and tear on the motor/gears,

  • @wordreet
    @wordreet 3 роки тому +2

    Yep, it makes a good difference. Rotate the opposite wheel to align the pin horizontally so it doesn't fall out, or stand the crawler on it's side. Oh, and I used a cordless drill/driver to undo the bead clamp screws. You can also use it to do 'em up part way if your careful. I eventually spent 60 on soft compound tires.

    If you sealed the weep holes on the wheels and actually trapped a small amount of air in there it would help the “foam less” tires grip and perform even better than they are now.

    I have some fast expensive rc's like the traxxas rustler 4×4 vxl for one but wanted to try a crawler without spending a fortune, this ridgerock is what I got! Its a great thing for $129....going to remove the foam too...thanks.

    I just picked up the danchee ridgerock version of this. I'm surprised the beadlocks are actually functional! I thought they were for show.

    turn those tyres inside out and score them lightly with a razor in a grid pattern. the more you score the more flex the tyre will have. just be careful to not cut all the way through.
    or you could use sandpaper to thin the inner walls for the same effect

    Thanks for the input! How about the duration and quality of the variator? and the batteries? I had a bad experience with a hexfly charger ... (I hope I'm wrong) and the truth is that I am also skeptical that for $ 110 dollars I can get a lot of fun from stock, without having to replace any part quickly ... as with wl toys . .. I find it hard to believe that for what it costs the servos or variator (control receiver) are not defective .... if I wanted to place another transmitter and variator ... which would be a good option.

    • @BradypatRC
      @BradypatRC  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching brother. Mine is still stock after 1 year and the servos are and transmitter are still going strong. I got a battery connector which is mini Tamiya to large Tamiya to run a 3000mh Nimh battery which gives me longer run time and adds more weight. I won’t be changing anything else until something breaks. If you are looking for a new transmitter then Flysky are pretty good. I’m keeping my stock transmitter as very happy with it 👍🏻

    Hello beautiful car, I have a small channel and I have a little of everything today I bought this, I have seen some advice to remove the foam, plumb the front axle or plumb the wheels any help thanks and I have subscribed.

      Thanks for the sub buddy. All I have done is take the foam out the tires and added some solder wire around the inside of the wheels. I haven’t done anything with the axles as mine is running fine. I have since changed the body and put other crawler tires on. I have other videos on that on the channel.

    So why do they put foam in? Is it only for heavy rigs?

    • @BradypatRC
      @BradypatRC  3 роки тому +1

      From what i can gather foams help keep tyre shape and different foams like soft or hard types simulate air. How true i'm not sure, i read that on the Pro line website. 👍
