Thanks PJ! I knew crawlers were slow but we’ll see how it performs in real life. This will be the first crawler in the house and will be for my 5 year boy. He loves my much faster RCs. Thanks again! PS your commentary to your son about that’s all it will do, you don’t need to drive to the cone killed me!!! Haha
It's a very capable crawler out the box!Add some Super Swamper wheels (with metal rims preferably) and the RidgeRock can hang with the best out there. Enjoy!
You like that servo up front? I have a couple RidgeRock videos on my channel too.... including a stripped gear fix... I too recommend this little rig for FUN times on novice drivers.... Peace!
Awesome! Yeah that servo I installed on the front is a big upgrade from the stock one. The stock works fine but it stopped working so I installed that metal geared servo on it. I use those on all my crawlers.
you probably dont care but if you are bored like me atm then you can stream all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother for the last months :)
Great video! I really enjoyed and learned a lot! Love your voice. You sound like Eddie Murphy to me! I’m subbed! 👏 I wonder if that extra 2 mph might help over an obstacle in certain situations?
You can use a 7.2 and for the most part it is waterproof. Just have to keep in mind the motors are located on the axles. So anytime the motors are submerged in water you should clean/service them.
Fifty percent more battery, fifty percent faster. Logical really, but yes, those are only brushed motors, and won't be as reliable as they will be on 2s.
Do you know if they sell different gears to get a little more speed out of it ? I'm looking for a Ridgerock or Everest for my 4 yr old to learn on. I know it's a crawler but just think like 6 or 8 mph would be ideal for cruising around. Great video man, thanks for the feedback
I think if you want to customize and get a little more speed then I would suggest the Everest. The Everest has more room for improvement than the RidgeRock. There are no upgrade gears for the RidgeRock. The gear housing has no room for bigger gears. The housing is pretty much made to fit the stock plastic gears. The Everest you could just change out the motor to a 10T to 15T motor and get the speeds you are mentioning. This may take away some power to climb but will still be a capable crawler/trail truck. I put a 10T motor (without changing pinion gear or spur gear) in a HG crawler build and it goes 7 mph in high gear. So it can be done but not in the RidgeRock.
@@PJsElectricRCAdventures Thanks a ton for the reply, I really appreciate it. I'll be subscribing to your channel, can't wait to see more of your vids. Thanks again!
No I didn't have to change anything. It took the lipo without a problem. Those plastic axle gears don't like 3s lipo. After a few tough runs on 3s I had to replace the rear axle gears.
We didn't run it on 3s for too long and I wouldn't suggest running a 3s Lipo in it especially crawling. The reason I say this: the RidgeRock has plastic gears in it's axles. I will be doing a video on those since I need to repair the rear axle after a crawling adventure over the weekend. The ESC do have a Lipo cutoff and easily takes 2s lipo with no problem. On 3s there is so much torque twist it's hard to keep the RidgeRock straight.
RC dads are the best🤘
I just bought this RC to mess around with, it arrives tomorrow. Thanks for the testing, I think I'll stick with 2S.....Peace! ✌
Not a bad choice! It handles very well on 2s.

Got to love the kids reaction... Lol... Keep him in the hobby...
That's my right hand man!
Thanks!

@@PJsElectricRCAdventures you notice much difference with that and the rear one? I weighted my wheels and think the beefier servos would help.
@@robdude1969 it will most definitely help and it won't have to work as hard as the stock servo since you have the wheels weighted.
@@robdude1969 a 15kg to 20kg metal gear servo will be more than enough to keep those wheels turning in rough terrain.
Did the 3S heat the ESC up and you should drive it with just the front wheel steering instead of all four
The esc didn't heat & took 3s fine. The gears didn't like 3s too much though.
can you tell me what the plug type on the stock battery is called? oh and does this car have fully perportianal controls
Mini Tamyia female plug on battery
Yes it is fully proportional
@@PJsElectricRCAdventures *THANKS!*
@@AllThingsWithWheelsRC no problem
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks😊
Thanks for watching!
I loved this video! I'm thinking about picking up one of these and this video has been really helpful. 😎
Awesome! It's a pretty good crawler for the price. Thanks for watching and be safe out there!

you posted this o my birthday and i got this crawler on my birthday
Awesome! Enjoy because it's tons of fun watching it crawl over things.
Have one, really like it!
Can I use a 7.2 volt on a nick metal battery and is it waterproof is seen a video we’re it was in a small shallow creek

Where did you find those connectors I can't find them anywhere

I'm getting one of these. Would you recommend crawling on stock battery or 2s?
Crawling on a stock battery or any 2s Lipo battery would be fine. The plastic gears do not like 3s Lipo so steer away from using them.
It's a pretty capable entry level Crawler. It has crazy articulation and with the available 4 wheel steering it handles pretty good.
Don’t need to go fast with these but extra power is always nice
Right! Sometimes you need a little extra wheel speed to get you over an obstacle.
