    My way of merging: 1. Automatic gear, drop a gear to D3 or 2 (Or use Sport Mode with Manual override). 2. Using the accelerator and step on it to above 4000 RPM (Or keep the same low gear if there are cars blocking you from speeding up while using the accelerator to maintain speed. 3. Merge into freeway where you already have sufficient speed 55-65 mph on ramp while tracking blind spot; 4. if there are car in the blind spot before you merge, make split second decision whether you want to speed up rapidly and pass over or slow down and get behind.

    What if there are two cars in the lane you are merging to, and the first one is going too fast, so you try for going behind him, but that car won’t let you in either?

  • @ssjlkrillin
    @ssjlkrillin 2 місяці тому

    I have enough horsepower to where I never worry about how fast [or slow] traffic is moving on the freeway when I merge. The right lane of the freeway is mostly the slowest, so I gauge the speed and distance of the vehicle in the far right lane well ahead of merging and accelerate or fall back accordingly. If I have to fall back, I wait for an opening to pass.

    I’ve been binge watching your videos, they’re super helpful. I’m currently studying for my written test. Driving has always been a fear in my life, so I’ve been avoiding it for a long time. I’m 29 and I’ve been giving myself pep talks because I really want to conquer that fear and really become independent. I’ve driven very very briefly but it wasn’t enough. So I’m hoping I’ll get my permit before the year ends. The more I watch your videos, the more excited and motivated I am!!!

    these are unusual (to me)l on-ramps with the traffic lights that make your car stop just before entering the accel. lane. That's be unwelcome in most cases, particularly if one is in a car (truck) with mediocre acceleration. Haven't seen these here in Buffalo NY, although I seem to recall some "traffic metering lights" on the on ramps in Phila that would only allow 1 or 2 cars on each green (the green cycledvery frequently)..however, these lights were further back from the "gore point", ie. not right before the acceleration lane. Good video, although I think some are needed showing merging in traffic that is near full capacity of the highway but still flowing near speed limit. IMO, that's the trickiest time to merge.

  • @hiyoutube8013
    @hiyoutube8013 8 місяців тому +1

    I was merging once and the merge lane was short on my left was a semi trailer so I braked in the merge lane just enough to let the trailer pass then merged behind it

    • @Zutobi_US
      @Zutobi_US  8 місяців тому +1

      That sounds like a smart decision in a tricky situation. When merging, especially with short lanes, it's important to adjust speed to find a safe gap. Slowing down to let the semi-trailer pass and then merging behind it was a good call for safety. Always prioritize safety when merging! 👍🚗🚚

    Why would on-ramps have traffic lights? That just slows you down, especially in a large vehicle.

      @Zutobi_US  Рік тому +1

      I'm sorry to hear that you faced a challenging situation during your test. It's important to prioritize safety over speed. Practice merging on different types of roads to build your confidence. Remember, it's better to be cautious than rush and potentially cause an accident. Keep practicing, and you'll improve.

  • @proletariennenaturiste
    @proletariennenaturiste 6 місяців тому +1

    A lot of people speed on freeway and go 10 or 20 above the limit, that's one thing that's concerning. Let's just say it may be legal to do 10 or 20 under the limit as long as you're above the minimum speed limit and weather conditions permit, but it's definitely not legal or safe to do 10-20 over.

    • @aa-tx7th
      @aa-tx7th Місяць тому

      wrong. the ONLY safe speed is what everyone else is doing. if the people around you are gping 100pmh you had better too unless you wanna d!e.
      the posted limits do not matter unless everyone else is following them which is never.

    Horrible advice, just look for the gap early on and then drive into it. Her method is to look for the gap at the last second and then speed up or slow down and will cause backups and stress. Its not about matching the speed of traffic, its about looking for the gap and then drive the speed you need to slide in to it. If you do it right you almost don't even need your mirror and are now only using your mirror to check the other car is not trying to block.

    • @aa-tx7th
      @aa-tx7th Місяць тому

      fr.
      i dont care if i need to floor it to 80mph im driving into that gap FAR before i run outta merging lane. and if theres no gap guess what? im about to make one.
      if youre stup!d enough to be on the right side lane AFTER an exit ramp be prepared for me cause youre stup!d enough for me to bump up into the lane you SHOULD be in.
      THEN i slow down to everyone else's speed.
      im getting on as soon as possible. end of story.

    In Newfoundland no matter what you do the people on the highway will match your speed and stay in your blind spot. If I enter the highway at 100 they will be 100 if I come in at 70 they are 70. If I slow they slow if I speed up they speed up lol..... it might only be one car on the highway doing that to you worst drivers ever

    • @aa-tx7th
      @aa-tx7th Місяць тому

      lol i merge at whatever speed i can accelerate to and i merge wether anyone is there or not.
      no need to signal. if youre dumb enough not to be able to figure out im about to merge from the MERGING LANE well you get what you get.
      no need to slow down or speed up. im going as fast as i want which is as fast as i need to be. you shouldnt be in the f@%king right most lane. especially next to a merging ramp ffs.
      if youre in the rightmost lane and your exit isnt a half mile or less down the road im more than happy to give you a free driving lesson by bumping your dumb@ss over to the lane you SHOULD be in. 😃

    Those lights on the entrance ramps are a disaster they make merging much less safe since it makes it difficult to get to the 65mph traffic speed . And yes you should be going 65 when you merge
