Based on a lot of what I've read, people weren't feeling this fight as much as the previous ones... While I agree it wasn't as grandiose, I really really loved this fight. The thematic elements and Barnabas moves were so cool. What did y'all think?
Yeah, is not as cool as fighting a Dragon in space but I really like the concept of a ''fair and square duel'' and Barnabas having his Kefka moments with that laugh was awesome.
It was dope. Not sure why people thought every fight needed to be a kaiju level fight. Loved the swordfighting
I personally enjoyed the route they took. They could have done the same as with Titan and Bahamut, but for me that would have been easy, lazy, cheap whatever. They mixed it up, kept it fresh.
For me, this was the best boss fight in the game. It may not be visually stunning like the Titan and Bahamut boss fights, but in terms of skills and mechanics is easily the best one.. and in top of that, you have Barnabas going insane like a loose canon, while you hear Soken's magnific soundtrack in the back.
I played through this fight the other day (beat the game yesterday) and I was completely blown away. The laid back scale was a nice change of pace. Barnabas/Odin was a very well established character in the game, making this face off extremely epic and worth while.
I personally enjoyed this fight more than most of the boss battles in the game. The others are fun (albeit a bit over the top at times) but going up against an unhinged Barnabas was epic. People complain because there was no real Odin fight. But, seriously? There would be no fight, Odin is so OP in this game it’s ridiculous. Even for the fight itself he was practically playing with us the entire time and wanted to die / lose because he knew that was his fate. Odin / Barn was simply trying to provoke the power inside Clive in order to pass his own along. If Odin wanted to, Clive would have been dead already when Barn’s sword was at our throat. Or when he had us in the middle of the split sea. Odin’s intention wasn’t ever to actually beat / kill Clive; simply to test / prepare him.
Exactly. People don't realize that Odin was laughing off Bahamut beams like they were nothing. We saw that if Barnabas feels like it he can just drop Clive in one. Also, this fight serves to show how integrated Odin and Barnabas are.
@@RicochetForce 💯.. I think the devs handled this perfectly per the narrative they gave us throughout the game. Don’t get me wrong, I can see why some people would “expect” a bigger / flashier boss battle due to the Titan / Bahamut battles and I am sure this was discussed in length at BU3 during development. I personally wasn’t upset / letdown at all - I was more worried we would have a battle that made no sense to win.
No, when they're fighting, Odin is already weaker than ifrit, his super sword is crushed by ifrit.
@@chinkslayer-KazumaKiryu Odin served Ultima to the extreme which is why he toyed with Clive the entire fight. (Game really) Narratively he wasn’t allowed to kill Clive as he is the vessel Ultima seeks. Odin could have demo’d Clive from the jump but due to Ultima’s wishes / desire / need he could only push Clive as far as possible to awaken / provoke what he deemed worthy of Ultima’s graces.
this fight was amazing idc what anybody says man sick gameplay btw
I loved the fight, even without the eikons. Thanks for the comment!
I still haven’t found what causes you to teleport on precision dodge
Berserker Ring. It's at the hideout, given by the NPC that gives you rewards for your deeds.
Can’t wait to see when you play the ending
Trying to finish the game by next stream... Let's see!
Until you hit the side quest roadblock from hell that takes up an entire sitting.. love the game but the sq’s could have been done differently. Having said that, you don’t need to do 90% of them but if you are OCD like me, you do anyhow. Of course, if you want the best weapon you need to do most of them + the hunts. You certainly don’t need it to beat the game but still nice regardless.
I've been doing every single side quest... For better or worse 😅 definitely looking forward to playing through the week and hopefully I'll be ready for that final fight by Monday.
Worst eikon fight, just two qte? R u kidding me square enix?
Idk, I kinda really loved this fight.
Best human fight before dlcs came out, yes. But where's eikon? Where is Odin? Poor Odin 😭 My beloved Odin 😭They didn't give you a chance to truly fight with Ifrit 😭. Curse you square enix.
@@chinkslayer-KazumaKiryuIt’s because Odin is too strong. Barnabas could kill Clive any moment he wanted to, Clive was simply not on his level. But his purpose was never to kill or best Clive in battle (even though that happened the first two encounters). He was simply preparing Clive for Ultima. Drawing out Ifrit so that Odin could be consumed by it by the end of the duel. Besides, Barnabas is a swordsman, a king. He is more than the gigantic knight of death on a horse, but even still Odin is a very core part of Barnabas. That is easily shown by his similar armor design (especially during Quieting when he looks like a semi-prime Odin), and his repeated use of Zantetsuken. Barnabas is probably one of the strongest characters in this game, lore wise and boss battle wise. He has become so proficient with his eikon that he need not draw out the entirety of it to make use of its power. He himself is just that powerful already. Remember, this is the guy who singlehandedly, with only swordplay to his name, conquered the entirety of the continent of Ash and then continued to battle for territory in Storm.
While it’s unfortunate Odin didn’t get a big spectacle fight, I don’t think it would have ever worked out properly, and narratively this battle as it played out was a much better send-off for Barnabas.
These are just my thoughts, though.
