How I Learned to Speak With More CLARITY - 7 Tips for Clear, Concise Speech
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 чер 2024
- Clear, concise speech is something that we can all learn and there are a number of techniques I've used to help me speak with more clarity. These techniques helped me get my point across, establish credibility at work and get others to understand what I'm saying. All of these things are incredibly important in the corporate world.
For many years I wanted to be clear and concise when I spoke. I felt that I was jumping around from thought to thought and my communication was jumbled. After working with emerging leaders for a number of years, I've learned that this is a common and widespread problem. This led me to invest time in understanding how to speak with more clarity and how to be concise when we speak. I've managed to achieve this myself, help others achieve it, and how I'm sharing some of my strategies with you.
In this video, you will learn what I know about how to speak with more clarity and develop clear, concise speech. These tips will help you at work, at home, and anywhere you need to improve your communication skill.

This is an amazing content; I can resonate most of the points.
1. Unnecessary information and giving too much information trying to make them understand FOMO.
2. Repeating the same content twice or thrice.
3. Rushing to complete my sentence. And no intellectual connection between 2 sentences.
Thanks for the great content.
As a 40 year old “educated” communications professional, I struggle with verbal communication. Your video is communication skills gold! I look forward to consuming more of your content.
It's strange but sometimes we communications professionals are the ones that struggle the most with communication 😅 😂
"Consuming" - great descriptive word
Another thorough and informative presentation Kara! I watched it twice and took notes the second time around! Here's my summary:
1. Expand your vocabulary (through reading, listening, taking notes, and using new words when conversing with people).
2. Get straight to the point and give people the most important information only.
3. Share one thought at a time.
4. Identify your main point before you start talking.
5. Use reading to improve your speaking (by absorbing information and reading out loud).
6. Use writing to improve your speaking (it helps you to organize your ideas and thoughts which, over time, will help you to do the same when speaking). Writing can also be used to do "active recall" which involves summarizing something you've read (e.g. a chapter of a book).
7. Watch documentaries and interviews to study the verbal and nonverbal communication of articulate, eloquent people. Write down what you notice and incorporate these elements into your own communication. That's how you learn from the best.
Cheers Kara! Looking forward to checking out another one of your videos soon!
Fantastic key points and it's great you took notes! I hope this advice will ve valuable for you Conor!
Appreciable
Wow...love your summary!
Thank you for summarizing! I'm totally going to Copy and Paste This 😂🙏🏼
What a great video! I highly agree with all of her points especially reading out loud and writing. I enjoy writing comments on UA-cam on videos I watch, which helps me convey my thoughts in a brief, clear and interesting manner. I would add to Kara strong list by
1. Start off agreeing with or complimenting the person speaking. If you immediately go for the attack your audience will discount what you have to say.
2. Number your comments. For example, "there are four factors critical in completing this project on schedule."
3. Smile, speak slowly, have inflections in your speech, use hand gestors and believe that you are the greatest orator in world.
7:24 read it aloud for yourself, it does a great impact on your communication because it forces you to repeat sentences to communicate effectively
8:30 writing and active recall in your own words, better use the book's words! :) the Socratic method
I really needed this! Thank you 😊
Yes, this is super helpful. Especially, speak one thought at a time and do not overload others with information.
One of the clearest pronunciation i've listened to! Thank you so much Kara Ronin! ❤
Thank you for watching!

I'm so happy to hear this. Thank YOU Maria for watching 😀
Most appreciated. Thank you.
My personal person. Lucy. Super proud of you. Keep soaring!
So helpful, thank you!😊
Kara what an absolutely brilliant teaching video. The way you identified the common faults and how to fix them is truly a treasure to anybody who wants to perform at a top level getting their message heard. I really like the way you present yourself. Professional but I also felt you're very warm and so likable in your mannerism. I normally wouldn't listen to this type of teaching program but as soon as i listened to you, in the first minute i was fascinated in what you were saying and how you said it. Thankyou.
Wow! Thank you so much!
stumbled across her video while searching for content to improve my speaking skill. love all of her videos. thinking what we are thinking as almost all of her videos mentioned, helps me improve how I transfer an idea, articulate my thoughts clearly in my own language thus makes me easier to transfer it in english.
I'm so glad my videos have been helpful for you!
This is incredibly helpful content. Thank you for sharing.
I started listen to Peter and also I really appreciate the way you speak.
This may be all right for a native speaker but for a non native listening is so necessary ! As a teacher, I would say improve your speaking through Listening first, alongside your reading.
Great tips- new fan to your very informative channel- thank you so much !
Your content is amazing! I loved this video!
Thank you so much for these videos!! This is so great, I am going thru a period with my manager and she is not so nice these days but I am trying to do what I can to give her clear concise information at all times, and only what she asks for. Have a great week.
I'm so glad you liked this video! Keep doing what you're doing at work. Your manager will hopefully come around.
I’ve had this feedback too. One that finally resonated with me was, “don’t bury the lead”. Give with the main point (the “WHAT”) and they’ll ask if they need more info.
Thank you! You are awesome! I learned a lot! 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥

Kara it's such a nice coincidence for me that I've found this video of yours because years ago I started to come to these same conclusions about having the ability to speak very clearly. And most of what you say seems to match the conclusions I've come to. Congrats for your videos. You really speak very nicely and clearly . I've already subscribed to your channel.
Wonderful!
Can you relate to what I describe in this video? Be sure to check out the book list in description to get started with reading to improve your speaking. 😀

I'm so glad to hear that SM. I think improving communication takes time. Be patient with yourself and stay committed to it. One day, you'll see that your communication has improve a lot!
i wish i had found this vid earlier, cuz being 64 its poss too late to change my ways!!
i have been teaching (winging it) english for 17yrs now, and have struggled to find students, due to a combination of accent and talking too fast! I will watch yr vid several times and hope or pray that it will help me!!! as i am at my wits end!!!
Nothing is ever too late! If you are determined to improve u certainly can!
Really your speech so clarity ❤ could you make a video for IELTS speaking test please
@kara ronin - Really liked the points you put on here. This generally happens with me- i do jumble between multiple thoughts while speaking in front of the group. It would help if you share some tips on how to control thoughts while speaking. What kind of exercise whould you suggest.
Thanks for the video!
I'm from Bangladesh, thanks a lot
Thank you so much you have the best conversation😂😂
I really thank God for letting me find you.
Amazing
Great communication for its own sake should be the goal and not only for the job/work.
Very nice
Thanks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
4 U
Thank you so much!
sometimes your accent sounds american and sometimes it sounds like a new zealander, a bit of both :) I am loving your videos. Thank you!
Thank you very much teacher for your teachings, I love the British accent, can you tell me why "it's me" is used to indicate "it's me"? I understand that "it" is used to refer to animals or things specifically...
Best ever keep it up
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for sharing your skills and expertise. Very valuable information!!!
I was wondering how I can subscribe?
I don’t see the subscribe icon anywhere on my end.
I'm so happy you liked this video Roser! There should be a "subscribe" button directly underneath the video player. If you don't see it, perhaps you need to sign-in to Google. I think you have to be signed in to be able to subscribe.
Good
Yes
Could you explain each of the point with an example? like do vs dont?
This is awesome 👏 🙌👊You 3 nailed it…..so fun…..how many donuts were consumed doing this video😂🤣
I'm glad you liked it🤗
I tend to ramble and not get to the point. Some of it has to do with nerves. Good video thanks!
Nerves can make people ramble. Try to consciously pause and give your mind some space.
This is a brilliant teaching Video.
Another tip is to eliminate unnecessary helping words like "has/had" or "has/had been," which weaken your speech and pad it out.
5:05 jumping thought to thought🎯 slow down. Id the main point.
what is the best book to read for beginners?
Ma’am do you provide class?
💯
I start listening to Jordan Peterson, the way he articulates his thoughts are mind-blowing, he's in a different intelectual league, I would recommend him to enhance your vocabulary
He's an amazing communicator!
Agree though he has a twisted and dangerous mind. This is the danger when using words to lure and manipulate the environment.
What’s dangerous about his mind. I’m dying to know what you mean?
@@1kawiboy One example would be his position on Russia and Ukraine, which is utterly misleading.
Jordan is a legend
I'm going through this now
1. Expand your vocabulary through reading.
2. Remove no relevant information
3. Say a point at a time.
I so need this rn! I am struggling with communication in a clear and concise term that I have to rephrase my statement more than once to my team.
Thankyou for sharing 🫂
