If the secondary symbols are last names, it makes sense that it would be printed on a medical record for Yellow Guy. And as for the question "why would Red go by his last name", I think it's pretty simple. From everything we've seen Red comes from a collectivist culture that doesn't really value individuality and uniqueness. Collectivist cultures in the real world (like China or Japan) put the family name first and often refer to each other by family name only unless with close friends. So it would make sense to me that Red goes by his last name while the other two go by their first names.
Where are you getting that from with Red? You sound pretentious. Also, I don't know about China, but suggesting Japan doesn't value uniqueness is odd considering the video games and the manga and the anime. But then again, Japanese RPGs are typically an RPG with an already established character, right? Pokémon was like that for the longest time other than the name. I don't really mind that. It's different from playing a non-RPG with a set plot other than the RPG elements. Are there old JRPGs with a lot of character customization?
@@Anti-HyperLink well any instances we see of other people like Red Guy such as in the family episode or episode 6 of the original web series where Red Guy was in the "real world", his people just kind of blend in and only our Red Guy was the one stand out amongst them so the OP making the assumption that Red Guy was from a collectivist culture was pretty understandable and not at all pretentious. I don't know what your point is with your last paragraph since I don't see how any of the thing you said in the last paragraph in any way connect with collectivist culture, japan not valuing individuals or uniqueness, etc
@@Anti-HyperLink In Japan, anime, manga, and video games are often used as escapism from the harsh and cruel ways Japan’s culture treats individuals. Their media is a very poor representation of their culture, people don’t look at Family Guy and think, “Wow, this is what living in America is like”
If you're trying to decipher their names, I think it would be useful to look at how they describe themselves: 1) A talking crow-like thing 2) Red and made of string 3) A yellow pig
Remgames: *Gives very detailed and thoroughly researched theory on the length of Yellow Guy's name* The Creators: "Wouldn't it be hilarious if Yellow Guy's name was, like, 100 random keypresses and Duck's was just the enter key?"
I agree that yellow guy's name is just random keys but I think duck's have is a single key not the end key. There's too much attention to detail to miss that letter entered into the password bar. And the joke still make sense
thats what I thought. It was funny typing a million characters for one name and just one for the other. they've said so many times they don't know each other's names so i don't buy any of this.
@@BrianaLynn7 lol have they actually said they don't know each others name? I mean they all share a wallet, I'm sure they must have taken a peep at the others ID when they check their owns ID to see if they are dead or alive
Something that's been bothering me is the mention of Red Guys death on the second episode. When he pulled out his ID card it said that he would die by drowning in a lake (or something like that). I don't know if that's important or not, but when you said that Red Guys symbol looked like him kinda moving his legs and arms, I saw the symbol above him (on the book) as waves of water (like a river, as if he was drowning). It's probably just a coincidence, but I wanted to share my thoughts :))))
I have a little theory on the enter key. The moment Red Guy presses the "enter" we can also see or assume that when all the keys were hitten by Red Guy Duck could have used the mouse to click the button on the screen. Evidence of that can be a small shot of Duck having his hand on the mouse while Red Guy finishes typing.
Digital style! (Also it's not 'the outside' as the video creator said, it's the fourth wall, it just folds out so we can see in; also also I'm in a similar boat and my brightness is at a reasonable level)
I have some notes that may or may not be useful: 1. I think it's erroneous to assume that the symbols on the keyboard are the same ones used to construct the symbols on the book. Yellow's name takes a long time to input and reads as a string of characters disguised by asterisks, like a password input in an English-language interface. Duck's name is just one symbol, and it may have a unicode-type input. Moreover, when the characters see the book, none of them claim to recognize their own names. If you saw a mysterious object with your full name on it, wouldn't you make note of that? Finally, we know how the characters write--they used (poorly-spelled) English in other scenes, such as the recipe for shepherd's pie from the "Big Day" montage. Yellow's name is likely input into Colin's interface via a different language. 2. The symbol you assume is Yellow's name sort of looks like a battery with a cable coming out of it. This definitely pertains to him, but may not be his name. The "circle with legs" is more likely to be his name because the other symbols resemble stylized depictions of the other characters' faces, and this other symbol sort of looks like a round head coming off of a pair of shoulders. One of these is his name; if it's the "battery" symbol, then the other one may simply mean something pertaining to thought or memory. 3. If each symbol is paired laterally with some relevant item or concept (that is, Yellow with either the batteries that power him or the importance of memory), then the other symbols probably represent something specific as well. Duck may be paired with his clipboard, which stands for information, order, and/or structure, as he likes consistency and keeping track of things. Red's may represent control or freedom, the things he pursues. If that's the case, each symbol represents what every character wants: Yellow wants to learn and regain his memories, Duck wants to maintain or regain order, and Red wants freedom from his existence. 4. This one is more meta: DHMIS is a satirical take on children's media. It feeds the characters nonsense songs and junk misinformation, and we can see that being trapped in this colorful felt world has left them woefully unprepared for life; they can't even figure out "opposite of down, 2 letters" in a crossword, they don't know how death works, etc. So perhaps these symbols are meant to be incomprehensible: we see them and can't make sense of them yet, like a child who hasn't learned to read. We can begin to parse out important clues, but I don't think we have enough to form a complete picture just yet, and this is by design because the teachers aren't doing a good enough job.
I agree with this immensely, the way they describe and explain the concepts to understand something like this also contradicts the things they're saying, since multiple parts of the “names” are wrong in their assets. The “dots” and “circles” they are describing on Red Guy's name are wrong and/or mixed up. Like the circle on middle left ACTUALLY being a dot and the two dots on bottom right and left as well as middle right being filled in squares and not dots like they're claiming. The eye on Duck's name is also clearly a teardrop, not a dot, same with the H-like thing that should be connected to Yellow Guy's name. I personally think after seeing this video that they're just grasping at straws that probably don't even exist or are unfinished at this time.
I agree with a lot of this (although point four is based off of an unconfirmed theory) however I'm pretty sure they addressed not recognising their own names in a previous video
about the resemblance of batteries on one of Yellow Guy's symbols, that one could represent the smart version of himself, and the circle one could represent his usual, more naive self
I'm a beliver in the whole thing being about Lesley and the people she knows from her life/ a coping mechanism for her loss. in DHMIS#2 "Time", there is a portrait of Duck looking like he's in a military outfit. Then in Episode #2 "Death", Yellow Guy remembers Duck telling him all about the military. Perhaps Duck is meant to be a representation of someone in Yellow Guy's life who died during a war. A grandfather maybe? He talks a bit old-timey. Maybe he's "dead" because he literally died in the war in real life. Him calling himself "the dad" in the family episode could actually be true- this being because he'd be Lesley's dad (the one who is running it all- thus her POV). And if Duck and Yellow Guy are based off real people in Lesley's life, then perhaps Roy is how she sees her 'ex husband', a no good, porn watching creep. He's represented as having money and business intention (the product placements he owned that's branded with his name). This would contradict someone who is stupid since you'd assume they'd have to be somewhat smart to do that. Maybe he did something to David that made her really hate him? Or he could have been abusive to her? Yellow guy calling himself a 'pig' could be a quote for something someone yelled at him about. Red Guy, Im not 100% sure. He has a keen interest in being an Uncle in the Family Episode. Maybe he was a workaholic type uncle (as office jobs and work seem to be a key theme for him in both series - yet he's someone who declares several times he hates the idea of doing things/working). But maybe when Roy does something, he steps in to help the family and look after David and her? That could be why he's seen as more level headed, caring character who looks to be trying their best to guide David (like helping him escape in the car etc). Just an additional thing too: the Twins were in the David cut scene during Episode 5- shown during the marketplace. The start of the Family episode, the twins are wearing sweaters. By the end of the episode, these are removed and you can see they have black and white stripped shirts. These shirts and their hair match the two blonde children in the market with their mum. So it's just more emphasis that everyone is someone that she knew from the real world.
@@TheBritishDragong - I agree. In fact talking of these ideas, I commented under the last video by suggesting that 'Grolton and Hovris' were basically inspired by Lesley's fond memories of watching "Wallace and Gromit" with David at some point during her life. Of course it's a small fan theory that I made up, but do you think that has some merit to the above theories about the other characters being based on actual people that Lesley knew?
@@0b13F4st3 Yeah for sure. There are a lot of things I think could fit. I also had more ideas I thought of but didn't include since my comment was already so long. If interested, my less sure theory was that the family from the Family episode could maybe be Roy's side of the family, hence why she thinks they're all major creepy freaks. This would also explain why Roy shows up at the end, opens the door and waltzes in as if he's familiar with the house/people and knows he's welcome there. He then proceeds to eat the family meal with the family (or eat them/depending on your interpretation). There is also a few references to "cousins" whilst the twins play the board game with Yellow Guy etc, which could be true. They could be cousins if they're children of say Roy's brother. Another thought too could be that Lesley was more fond of the twins than the rest of their family, hence why the twins are "normalish" looking and show up in the David cut scene ep 5, but the others are all greyed out/creepy/disturbing. Roys side could have maybe tried to enforce their 'traditional' ideas of family on Lesley, who wanted to raise David her own way.
@@maddie8829 - When you put it like that, I can definitely see what you mean especially concerning Todney and Lily's creepy family (especially the baby who was actually the dad). Speaking of greyed out individuals, do you think that the mourners from episode 2, could actually be vaguely inspired by people that might've attended David's funeral after he was run over? (EDIT 24.10.2022 - I accidentally kept on calling Lily, 'Jill' the whole time, because she looked more like a 'Jill'. (Plus it felt like a reference to the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill" as well, but I know better now and will make sure to not make that same mistake ever again.)
12:59 here, you mention a hyphen or removing specific parts of the glyph to mean different things. The hyphen going directly through the upside down triangle is often seen as an elemental symbol for ‘Earth’ When yellow guy says “remember the hyphen” if red guy weren’t to type it then the upside down triangle would mean ‘Water’ Also on the yellow guys symbol the rectangle with two dots could be symbolic to him having batteries. Two dots, two batteries might mean something. I have absolutely no idea if this is relevant or not, just thought it could be
Maybe Yellow guy's name is Earl? the first 3 letters of Earth + L form Earl. Without the hyphen his name would be Watl (first 3 letters of Water + L)... But if this is true, then here comes another question: If Yellow guy's name is Earl, then why is there the letter D on him?
@Jaroslaw Maps Someone said they assumed the D was for dunce, but I personally don't think that's the case- yeah it could possibly be Earl, that makes sense
Now here’s a theory that’s a little out there and really just simplifies everything, but it’s interesting because of how meta it is: What if the characters were character traits I.e. lessons learned? In keeping with my previous comments on Rem’s vids (which you should go back and look at) I think Duck is the only one who’s being replaced every “episode”. I mean, we know he’s “faulty” seeing as his figurine breaks easily and his heart falls out of his body out of nowhere. So for Duck’s name to be literally one character long is more of a meta in-joke that he’s just a one-dimensional character! Conversely (and keeping with my prev. theories), Yellow guy is the focal point of the show. He’s the one who the teachers are supposed to be teaching! Yellow Guy has been around for all the lessons so he has more character built, hence it takes more characters to spell his name. And if you want to force this theory to keep to Rem’s hieroglyphic ideographic theory, it’s possible that this language is not able to be programmed into a computer, so duck’s name is a programmed hotkey and Yellow Guy’s name would have to be spelled out the way the ideogram is read. For example, if Duck Guy’s ideogram means “The one over here who talks like this and has a beak”, that will never change and so you can just make a hotkey shortcut for it. But then Yellow Guy’s name would be something like, “the yellow pig who is Roy’s dad and learned about Creativity, Time, Healthy foods, love, dreams, security (?), jobs, death, family…etc.” So it’s possible that Yellow Guy’s name is always adding characters literally and figuratively. So basically, Yellow Guy’s name is actually an ingenious password, but with the bad batteries he just can’t remember every life experience.
As for the book, what if it’s like literally the “Show Bible”? Being another Meta in-joke, every show on tv requires a “Bible” that outlines the show from start to end to be picked up. So the symbols could actually describe the three characters and their archetypes, I.e. Duck is the grumpy one-dimensional one who doesn’t like learning lessons, Red Guy is the down-to-earth one who makes sure things stay on track, and Yellow Guy is the one who’s supposed to actually learn the lessons and grow as a person from episode 1 to the final episode. Unfortunately, the bad batteries keep him from doing so and that’s probably because Lesley interfered because she wants the characters in a limbo state for herself, but that’s another theory for another time. Anyways, it being the “Show Bible” really fits, too because that’s why Yellow guy would’ve had it before and that’s why it has symbols of everything that’s happened before!
Come to think of it, do you think Red Guy has some sort of awareness? Because in one of the openings, he goes "And we live in an actual *NIGHTMARE!*" in a frustrated and angry tone, as in he is aware that he and his friends are trapped in a dollhouse and he can't do anything about it, and then Yellow Guy looks at him, almost surprised or scared, before the scene changes. Do you think it's connected somehow?
I can't get past the fact that the first symbol looks distinctly like a briefcase with eyes, and the teacher of the first episode is a briefcase with eyes. Since there are 6 symbols and 6 episodes, it just feels like the simplest explanation is that each symbol represents an episode from season 1 in some way.
Im pretty sure that the “red guy” symbol actually means family. Or at least is heavily related to family since not only is the board of the twins game that they didn’t invent very similar to the symbol, but it also appears on the packet of chuddy-Ds which is a “family pack”.
I TOTALLY AGREE! I have been opposed to it solely meaning Red Guy from the start. However, I do think RG name being depicted as surname first does play into the symbol meaning family and him himself being a "family first" personality type (stemming from a collectivist culture ideology). This plays into your deduction more and can even tie together Rems understanding of the symbol as Red Guy's motivation to be accepted into his family could be tied to his described death, his role as YG friend, and his meaning and representation to and of Lesley.
my personal theory is that in the original UA-cam series Roy was in control, evident based on multiple things that show up throughout it. that's why in that series the characters act stiff, talk slower, and overall act more like a character rather than a distinct person. in this series Leslie seems to be in control basically taking over where Roy left off but she does it differently mainly by making them forget about previous "lessons" and having them act more like actors off the clock, it would explain the multiple instances of them acting as if they don't know the other that well. a great example would be red guy at the funeral sayin "I don't know you, I know of you. I know which one you are." like he knows him professionally, not personally. and hopping back on the "Leslie SEEMS to be in control" thought, I don't think she actually is. I think Leslie is just a figurehead who acts like the one in control to dissuade yellow guy from going further up to find out the real truth as evident by the stairs hidden in the corner that we catch a glimpse of as yellow guy is returning back to the room he climbed up from. that's why the doll house we see Leslie messing with doesn't actually effect everything else when she changes something. its a model designed to trick you into thinking she is in control with "clues" hidden everywhere that point back to her but no further to dissuade anyone from actually digging further beyond the "clues" to find out who is actually further up those hidden flight of stairs. there are other actual clues that point to something even further beyond Leslie, the dump that the main 3 end up in shows that there's a whole other world outside of that house. a world that Leslie hasn't been shown in. a world where Leslie cant fake control. there's something controlling everything behind the scenes and I'm talking much further than Leslie. if it really ended at Leslie then the show would already be over and there wouldn't have been that glimpse of a tucked away staircase that teased something much further than where yellow guy ended up. I'm sure Leslie has influence over the world and show (most likely the one who controls and choses the teachers) but she cant control the trios actions or reactions to things. she cant control the events that play out due to the teachers or any other random occurrence that may happen. she can only probably pick and place the teachers. she may have insider knowledge of what happens or how things ended up but she cant do anything to remedy or fix the outcome. she can only observe as someone else sets everything back to 0 so she can start the next lesson. there's something much deeper just waiting to be found and I for one cant wait
What I was able to get through of that (which I'll address after I finish with this part) was plausible, but I don't know what I think of it. That said, two notes: First, paragraphs are important, right now that's just a wall of text, if you would have hit enter once or twice in appropriate places it would have been easier to read. And second, 'de-suede' should be 'dissuade'. It's not 'remove the material that's similar to leather', it's 'persuade to not do something'.
I think the largest and most compelling evidence of this glyph-style language would be when "smart" yellow explains that he was experimenting with a 3rd symbolic subset when asked whether or not they were "letters or numbers." So yes, it must be assumed that there are letters and numbers.
I just realized that in your time theory thing, you missed that yellow guy remembered the clock from episode 2 in the original youtube series. In episode 6 when red guy messed with the control panel while yellow guy was in his bed, the clock appeared and yellow guy said “you made me die” How did yellow guy remember the clock from episode 2?
I dont think the youtube series has to do with this that much since they sort of remember stuff for example in the original one when colin (the computer) said and I tell you the time duck instantly said TIME? like he was concerned or something and its wasnt because he just was confused because in the first one the notepad said time and nobody said a thing so I think that the new series is now just wiping theyre memories
I thought the symbols all together read out “There’s Three of Us.” Because that’s the intro and the first words we hear almost every episode. (With exceptions)
My own little game theory is that the little extra glyphs on the ends of the names are what the character needs to find the truth no idea why i think this just like the thing of the symbols being combined on a book that symbolises the truth.
wow this is like the one theory series on youtube that i actually don’t mind having to wait for and actually appreciate them being split up and serialized congratulations
1:34 Duck Guy had both hands on the mouse, the cursor of which was over the 'login' button. If Red Guy typed it all out, all it takes is one click and that's the end
12:53 if you look at Yellow guys name compared to the keyboard, you can see how all of the different signs on the keyboard can make the full glyph. Some of them would need to be rotated, which is why it shows red guy hitting the arrows. There are two dots in yellow guys glyph, and half of a circle on top of them. Which turns it into a smiley face. And with some readjusting- a frowny face. Just as it shows on the keyboard.
Thank you so much! While I do always hope I'm correct so far, this is just the start! In the next episode, I'm working to solve EVERYTHING about this book, so this is just the start!
An ideogram fits pretty well with the definition that Yellow Guy gives in Episode 6. "Are these letters or numbers?" "I've been experimenting with a third subset actually" A 'third subset' could mean an ideogram, since it's neither letters nor numbers.
There is one thing about Yellow Guy (David's) name that nobody seems to have caught: his name is an electronic diagram of a battery connected to ground. The rectangle with two dots is a battery - Yellow is powered by batteries, and becomes smart with fresh batteries. The triangle symbol is the symbol for 'ground' in electronics. The two are connected, essentially by a wire. Thus, a battery, grounded.
That’s a great question! In a recent article, the creators of the show mentioned that they don’t really know where they are going with a lot of what they do, and they do kind of a give-and-take with theorists where they use a lot of ideas to influence their unknowns, so we might all actually be creating the actual answers!
The lines next to Yellow Guy’s symbol takes me back to chemistry and physics where you’d have to draw a diagram including a battery (e.g. anodes and cathodes). While the lines here seem the same length and the ones drawn in chemistry class are not, it still reminds me of that - perhaps that symbol means “to charge” or “charged”, so to fulfil the story, Yellow Guy must be (fully) charged?
I have a little theory and don't want this to be perceived as me saying "This is wrong" to the vid, just something to consider: Could the symbols relate to the timeline of events/the order the episodes are meant to be viewed in? 1. The briefcase from "Jobs", the symbol of the box with 2 dots and a handle. (I think this looks way too much like the briefcase to ignore) 2. The computer, the circle on what looks like a stand, which is what Computery Guy gives them at the end of "Friendship". Also explains why it appears on the printed out piece of paper. 3. Duck's "Death", since we know that character relates to him and he is centric to the episode, with even 2 of him appearing. 4. This one is the least sturdy but I think it's "Family", 2 parallel lines with a symmetrical 2 written on them to represent the twins. 5. Then it's "Electricity" one way it looks like an electric bolt, rotate it 90 degrees and you have the handle for the music box/house rotating system Lesley uses, 6. And that leaves "Transport", symbolised by Red Guy running away. I'm not 100% sold on it but I don't think it's the worst conclusion to come to
I personally dont think there is too much to it, the symbols are not super complicated symbols but instead are stylistic symbols that represent the individual episodes in the series, the top left being a briefcase the middle right being twins and the bottom right being a thunderbolt. Not sure of the others. I also think that much like the youtube series, where red slowly uncovers they are in a scripted programme and his life unravels. I think this season is yellow guy starting to do the same, when he is handed the book, he is infact being handed a literal book version of the events that happens that season, its the script. Lesley is credited as the script Editor of Grolton and Hovris. I think that is who she is here too, she edits the script.
I'm scrolling through the top comments and nobody is mentioning the thing that in my opinion is the simplest explanation for the symbols the symbol for yellow guy seems like either a face connected to an outlet or a battery case with a plug. both of them about how he is powered by electricity for dock its either the head of his plane or if you flip it 90 degrees a face with a beak (if ìt is a face i don't know what the square is) and the last one is just a humanoid with two big eyes just like red guy all symbols represent a character
That means it might be just the book title. Like.. "The Story of the red guy, yellow guy, and the duck" or the entire show so yellow guy can see how it ends and do something about it. Just guessing...
I haven’t watched the whole vid, but I wanted to say if you haven’t already that the car is somewhere in real life idk where but Becky posted a photo on her Instagram with the car irl with the tag “has anyone found the car?” Or something like that
I'm glad there's a lot more depth to their symbols than the first video, but ... I also now can't comment my thoughts until I watch part 3 of your analysis of the symbology. LOL
A theory that might change this is that the order of the episodes is not what is seems, now with many people theories of the stairs the last room is the producers of the show up above… which mean they make the ending credits of it, in the credits of episode 2 there is duck singing. And in the order of people he shakes hands with, it is businessman (skip episode 2 cause we’re watching it) then family man then choo Choo man then friendly fellow then electric man, meaning episode 5 is before 4. And if the producers made this it must be true… idk maybe I’m just overthinking. And also mirrors and reflections allow travel between the different houses throughout the series, as you see in episode 5 yellow guy looks into the reflection and sees smart him, but what most ppl don’t talk about is when smart yellow guy looks into a mirror and sees dumb yellow guy in episode 6, almost as if they can see each other… or can they?!
This is super cool! I was wondering if the "briefcase" in yellow guy's name is supposed to be electracy's body holding two batteries... And if yellow guy's name is also supposed to evoke the way symbols are used in circuit diagrams? That may be a stretch though lol
Ayyyy Can't wait to watch it! these videos are really good I've been wondering actually as to why there isn't a yellow guy in any of the other rooms? there's only one in the whole house.
That's a VERY good question. I have some ideas, but definitely not enough that I could even string them in a sentence lmao. But I'm still trying to figure out a good and plausible reason
what about all the references to duck's death in the old series? The can with his face, the urn with his face, the drawing on the fridge where duck guy has his eyes crossed out, or the fact that lesley only has one drawer which is only filled with duck. Also, the time child has this medallion with a yellow section with a battery, a red section with a road, and a green section with something I can't tell what it is. Duck has a role in all this too
I have a question, what about time child's circle with similar colors represent main characters and battares, road and something? Also with duc's shake hand song that represents all teachers in tv season?
Good question! I haven’t quite yet fully analyzed the time child sequence, so I’m not quite sure so far, but I don’t think that Duck’s song meant to much, as the episodes are not meant to be linear. The show is more meant to be similar to the Twilight Zone in that each episode is it’s own thing, but the main plot points and overarching themes are the same, hence the dollhouses and different dolls. I’m not quite sure about the time child quite yet though
one thing that i dont think was mentioned that i havent seen anyone else really mention. if we are assuming these symbols represent either characters names or characters in situations, why are yellow guy and ducks names on the left side (with their secondary symbols on the right) and red guys are the opposite? the main symbol for him is on the right side while the secondary is on the left. its a little bizarre and ever since bringing up the symbols it's always been in my mind. you think it's got something to do with how the sentences are read? or maybe having red by on the right could mean something else entirely, idk, just a shower thought
@@andreaceleste2664 you've opened my eyes. Would make sense why he wanted to leave in episode 5 so bad. But then again who knows. Ty for giving me this thought tho its intriguing :eyes:
2:06 that written language could be like koran where more complext characters are built out of simpler ones and duck's name is just that alphabets equivalent to "a" while yellows is the equivalent of "martha" with the duck symbol being the last letter in yellow's name (like how his favorite color is green)
I literally just found your two other videos on this. Soon as I get done watching them I see that you posted another one an hour ago. Crazy coincidence.
Yellow guys main symbol may be his last name. It has two dots similar to eyes a hump on the top like a rounded ear and the squiggle on the bottom may be a tail. It's possible in this language last names cone before first. I've also see a lot of resemblance to how languages like Japanese are structured. The symbol you were talking about sound alot like kanji.
I wonder if at 14:04 there are 2 duck symbols because of the two versions of duck (the one made from the blob thing isn't a backup but its own version)
Have you considered these symbols have a alchemical connection. I see the sun symbol and the symbol for earth. Also the whole last episode played out like an alchemist enlightenment parable. Hidden stairs. your friend don't understand you. The mages amnesia. I see a slight similarity to the poem of the ten bulls being played out in this series. 🤷
I have a couple thoughts: The symbols next to their names all have numbers when you rotate them. Idk if they mean anything, but the one next to Red Guy's has the number 44, Duck's has 22, and Yellow Guy's has 30. I might just be seeing stuff though, there's a high possibility that they're not actually numbers. The symbol for Yellow Guy's name also has what looks like the briefcase from episode 1.
Yooooo *time for my daily UA-cam deep dive video as a conduit for (ew) actual learning!* I decided to check back in on the channel on a whim, and I see “40 minutes ago”. It was fated to be
has anyone else noticed that theres a lot of alchemy symbols in the language? they arent all exact copies or combinations, but there are quite a few! the symbol for "earth" is in yellows name, what i think looks like "magnet" is part of reds name, and the companion symbol to ducks name is really similar to the sign for "bismuth"!
I'm starting to suspect that one theory i read about is right. All of the simbols, all of the hiden stuff in the show are just red herrings. There's no meaning behind it and it's all a big troll.
It’s VERY intentional! (First of all, I love the Unus Annus profile pic) but Becky and Joe actually went on the record in a few interviews where they mention that sometimes they don’t really know all the answers to what they make and they do a form of give-and-take with theorists that they base some things in their show off of. And I mean, gives me something to do so I won’t complain 😂
crazy how the first season of dhmis revealed the most about red guy’s back story and this new season revealed yellow guy’s so will the next season reveal duck’s?🤔 i feel like theyre all dead idk how to explain it but theyre forced to lived together and the way yellow guy died was revealed, maybe red guy was depressed with work and was unable to make his dreams come true (about his show) and sold his soul to get his show or sum idk about him but a lot of duck’s parts have to do with the military like him telling yellow guy about it, him in the plane at his funeral (maybe military related), and he sang about the military during the job episode, theres prob more
In the original UA-cam series the last episode shows the inner workings of a powerful being controlling the strings behind the scenes revealed as "Roy" (yellow guy's father) only for him to be another character that randomly shows up, but the TV series at the last episode the big reveal that Lesley is the one behind everything and controlling the strings, as she gives yellow guy the book he asks "did I...?" as he noticed the symbols he drew on the paper at the table, the glimpse of more stairs shows that Lesley might not be the one in control but as the one who maintains the house keeping everything flowing and rewinding everyday I'm not gonna make any assumptions since I personally don't like to deep dive into shows but this had me in a stupor for a week to think about
Hello! Great video! Just thought I’d add my two cents in seeing as you haven’t mentioned these little things yet. The symbol that you think is yellow guy when on the book with the h attatched to it looks like a camera. A camera that is pointing at what looks to be a puppet’s side profile. That’s why I think the circle symbol is actually representative of yellow guy. Anyway this camera is “plugged in” through the triangle to the rest of the symbols. If yellow guys symbol is actually the circle one this might reperte t how the other two are locked into the camera and yellow guy is uniquely not attached to it. Another little thing is each of the symbols have dots red guy has three, yellows symbol has two and duck has one. These are things I’ve noticed, hope this helps!
i think the yellow guy's symbol is him destroying the book in the shredder. Above is the head, and it connects with a body and arm that holds something triangular (the book) and seems to be putting it into something (the shredder).
@@RemGames Haha you're welcome. Do you think this kind of analysis content is something you're going to do more in the future? you're really great at it

VanVan’s comment on this video gave me an idea, so thank you for inspiring me. She said that Red Guy’s sign looked like he was flailing his arms and legs, and the symbol on top of him showed something rather water-like, which made her think that Red Guy would die by drowning. This made me think about the other ones. Thought the pole sticking out of Duck’s so called ‘body’ in the ideogram might represent his beak, I could also see that he was being impaled or would die to the hands of a handheld weapon like a spear. I find this interesting because Stain Edwards actually kills Duck with a handheld weapon at the end of episode 8, otherwise a shovel.
a few notes on things ive noticed: red guys symbol: half filled dots and half empty dots, connected by squiggles or something. symetrucal almost like yin yang? also, hes put under the "wavy" symbol, like hes drowning as the identity card mentions. also looks like a molecule or the electric grapes? the "wave" symbol also looks like a camel with a sun over it but i could be tripping yellow guys: his "first name" symbol contains alchemical reference to 'earth', and his other symbol's circle is the alchemical symbol for the sun or gold. both are yellow? the wiggles under the sun might represent shining a light, or that hes powered by electricity (sine waves and whatnot) the circle over waves symbol also looks like a virus, like too much like a virus. ive seen the "suitcase" part of his first name be argued to be a reference to the job episode or maybe batteries? also, this symbol: 王 in chinese means king, and its often associated with yellow guy too in a few of his symbols. probably coincidence? as for ducks symbol, ive always seen it as like a tank or something. the square could be in reference of his little red pocket thing? im at a loss. his second symbol resembles a road to me, but the two 2's inverted on themselves could be a reference to the ars goetia or maybe another alchemical thing? also looks an aweful lot like the rod of Asclepius? often associated with medicine and healing. also, an exerpt from sefer raziel hamalakh has many symbols resembling the dots and lines. idk. this has been keeping me up lmao
heres some more schizoid bs: this is absolutely a coicidence but ducks name looks like an o/z in hylian (yeah lmao) and some lines look like celestial writing? i know nothing can be garnered from this information but 🤸🤸
I think the ideogram theory has a lot of potential (Yellow Guy basically comes right out and says that's what it is in ep6), but beyond David's symbol(s), the assumptions and guesses at what the remaining symbols mean are flimsy and unsubstantiated, but you hold on to a lot of them anyway. In a previous video you basically made the case that Yellow Guy's symbol was the series of glyphs that looks like "HOES" turned sideways, but then immediately said "so now we can confidently say his symbol is [a totally different glyph]" and then you just plowed on ahead with that being a bygone conclusion for no reason at all, just calling the OE glyph "related" while arbitrarily discarding the H and S. This whole thing reminds me of those Ancient Aliens kooks starting from a faulty premise and just going further and further with it. I think you need a fresh start. Discard the assumption that those glyphs are just to represent the characters, stay open to the idea that they are concepts related to their environment, the process of resetting, ascension, teachers, the council, etc., and see if you really can't find your way to them being anything else before using it as the support beam for everything else. The "David" Glyph is solid enough. Nothing else is.
I recognize a few alchemical/metallurgy symbols in the glyphs- earth, sun, mars, and duck's entire name just kinda looks like the symbol for magnesium. I don't think it holds water, but that's all the connections i can draw.
While looking at the video, i realized that, focusing on duck's symbol, it -kinda- looks like himself. The beak at the top, the vertical line representing either his jacket or his scar, the square being the pocket on the jacket, the curved line marking the body. The circle is placed exactly where the age badge he is given on wakey wakey (wich says 31, refering to his age) should be. im not sure how this can be helpful, but if it is i would be so proud of myself.
I'll be honest, I thought you didn't need to explain all this as it seemed quite obvious? Especially the part about why Duck's symbol would be reused. This kind of language always reuses symbols, the most common/important ones being "keys". However the part about HOW it works, what the symbols represent, was so interesting. Never knew linguistics could be so fun! The most confusing thing though is that, if I remember correctly, Yellow Guy at his full capacities made up a language/experimented upon their original language and it seemed to line up with the book. While it could be a throwaway line to hint at their language being important and different from ours, it struck me as weird af. He might be coded as a child and making up languages is common among children, the fact that Leslie, his original version's mother (or the mother who rejected him), has this book is strange. Did he write it before and the Hell they're stuck in is Leslie trying to tell those story(/ies) for some reason? (To cope maybe?). Is Yellow Guy replicating something and Leslie wrote the book? Talking about coping, it is strange that both Leslie and Roy are content creators. My current theory is that either the YT series and the TV show are separate and Roy and Leslie's coping mechanism after their son died, or that (and it's my main one) both are just Leslie messing around: she either took over from Roy when his show got out of hand and Red Guy (and the others) escaped (well... They tried before she caught them and rebooted everything) or the YT show is just a part of Leslie's shenanigans (meaning Roy's show wasn't real and neither was he, explaining why everyone is a puppet except her) and the TV show is just her trying out a new format
I think its a map of possible time loops in the house, like a maze with several exits and re-entrances. Circles represent red guy (referencing his eyeballs) triangles represent duck (referencing his beak) and the line is yellow guy traversing it.
I have to point out yellow guy says that the language is not like anything we currently have in the real world and could follow its own rules and another thing is that one symbol could mean multiple things, either way I’m happy to see an effort to solve it
Remember Matpat’s theory including the original series being a tv show, well what if the ‘dolls’ in the new show are just toys based off of the show.( also I think I haven’t heard anybody mention this but I’m pretty sure Roy is meant to represents David’s father and thereby Leslie’s husband).
yellow guy's name is David in the Death Episode the coffin assumed that Yellow guy was the one who died. in the Last episode Lesley said to yellow guy "You're not my real son" this means, Yellow guy (David) (lesley's son) died
Feel free to comment about any information I may have missed that can either solidify, or make me reconsider this theory! I’m fully open to any suggestions!
Ok cool.

That makes a lot of sense actually.
The term "collectivist culture" is also new to me and also explains way more about the world to me.
im sure he'll like reading this...

That actually might be better evidence for that being red guys name then what they said in the video

This is the first thing i noticed, they are using the mouse to finish so don't need enter.
Rem: “we can see this symbol on the side of the dollhouse”
Me, with my brightness on low: *“Wow look, nothing!”*
Digital style!
(Also it's not 'the outside' as the video creator said, it's the fourth wall, it just folds out so we can see in; also also I'm in a similar boat and my brightness is at a reasonable level)
I have some notes that may or may not be useful:
It was established that no they do not recognize Duck's name when they see it
I'm a beliver in the whole thing being about Lesley and the people she knows from her life/ a coping mechanism for her loss.
in DHMIS#2 "Time", there is a portrait of Duck looking like he's in a military outfit.
These are some amazing ideas!

The hyphen going directly through the upside down triangle is often seen as an elemental symbol for ‘Earth’
When yellow guy says “remember the hyphen” if red guy weren’t to type it then the upside down triangle would mean ‘Water’
Also on the yellow guys symbol the rectangle with two dots could be symbolic to him having batteries.
But if this is true, then here comes another question:
If Yellow guy's name is Earl, then why is there the letter D on him?
@Jaroslaw Maps
Someone said they assumed the D was for dunce, but I personally don't think that's the case- yeah it could possibly be Earl, that makes sense
I was hoping someone would mention alchemist symbols!
Now here’s a theory that’s a little out there and really just simplifies everything, but it’s interesting because of how meta it is:
What if the characters were character traits I.e. lessons learned?
But then Yellow Guy’s name would be something like, “the yellow pig who is Roy’s dad and learned about Creativity, Time, Healthy foods, love, dreams, security (?), jobs, death, family…etc.”
So it’s possible that Yellow Guy’s name is always adding characters literally and figuratively.
The symbol next to ducks could be the twins
@@andreaceleste2664 That's what I was thinking - a mirrored 2 on its side, two dots...pretty good symbolism for twins!

@@anotherparadise7879 wait the job, twins, and electricity i can actually see, can we dive deeper into this?
Actually friends kind of make sense too seeing how it's all dots and different types but they connect with each other.
I'm sure Leslie has influence over the world and show (most likely the one who controls and choses the teachers) but she cant control the trios actions or reactions to things. she cant control the events that play out due to the teachers or any other random occurrence that may happen. she can only probably pick and place the teachers. she may have insider knowledge of what happens or how things ended up but she cant do anything to remedy or fix the outcome. she can only observe as someone else sets everything back to 0 so she can start the next lesson. there's something much deeper just waiting to be found and I for one cant wait
i agree that kinda makes sense

@@MCOmegaX123 alright. sorry, i just wrote it fast.
I think the largest and most compelling evidence of this glyph-style language would be when "smart" yellow explains that he was experimenting with a 3rd symbolic subset when asked whether or not they were "letters or numbers."
So yes, it must be assumed that there are letters and numbers.
Wesley probably didn't wipe any memories in the first series. Yellow guy, Red guy and Duck's memories aren't wiped out every episode.
Could also be a retcon thing, it was made about 6 years ago.
I dont think the youtube series has to do with this that much since they sort of remember stuff for example in the original one when colin (the computer) said and I tell you the time duck instantly said TIME? like he was concerned or something and its wasnt because he just was confused because in the first one the notepad said time and nobody said a thing so I think that the new series is now just wiping theyre memories
that’s wild - that he remembers dying. it’s extra interesting and creepy to me with all of the context that the first season of the show provides us
This series went from theory time to the insane ramblings of a very sad man, and I'm loving it
Quite a rude way to put it
@Gwyneth Orr
Doesn't mean its not true 🤷
I thought the symbols all together read out “There’s Three of Us.” Because that’s the intro and the first words we hear almost every episode. (With exceptions)
Since I watched that episode, I already knew the fanbase would go crazy trying to decipher those symbols.
Great job!
Thanks!
Pretty sure it’s just the completed spatial distribution puzzle that yellow guy came up with.
My own little game theory is that the little extra glyphs on the ends of the names are what the character needs to find the truth no idea why i think this just like the thing of the symbols being combined on a book that symbolises the truth.
I believe something VERY similar, so maybe we’re both right or we’re both wrong 😂
In Episode 3, Family, Duck deposits some photographs of real beings on the table. Ostensibly, she had an ordinary existence.
wow this is like the one theory series on youtube that i actually don’t mind having to wait for and actually appreciate them being split up and serialized congratulations
Thank you!
1:34 Duck Guy had both hands on the mouse, the cursor of which was over the 'login' button. If Red Guy typed it all out, all it takes is one click and that's the end

It's the fancy big boy room. Only for the classiest of the classiest
@@RemGames heh, i guess. i will try to keep up mate
I was literally just about to rewatch the symbols video and I just found this omg
Good timing I guess!
Literally just finished watching your other videos and then you released a new one. Lit
Pure genius 👏!!!! This is going to change the new DHMIS

lol matpat slacking so this guy can take his place
An ideogram fits pretty well with the definition that Yellow Guy gives in Episode 6.
"Are these letters or numbers?"
"I've been experimenting with a third subset actually"
A 'third subset' could mean an ideogram, since it's neither letters nor numbers.
can't wait for the next episode i love dhmis and these deep dives is what makes it 10 times better for me. keep up the great work
There is one thing about Yellow Guy (David's) name that nobody seems to have caught: his name is an electronic diagram of a battery connected to ground. The rectangle with two dots is a battery - Yellow is powered by batteries, and becomes smart with fresh batteries. The triangle symbol is the symbol for 'ground' in electronics. The two are connected, essentially by a wire. Thus, a battery, grounded.
do you think we’ll ever get answers? or do you think they’ll always leave it up for audience interpretation?
That’s a great question! In a recent article, the creators of the show mentioned that they don’t really know where they are going with a lot of what they do, and they do kind of a give-and-take with theorists where they use a lot of ideas to influence their unknowns, so we might all actually be creating the actual answers!
The lines next to Yellow Guy’s symbol takes me back to chemistry and physics where you’d have to draw a diagram including a battery (e.g. anodes and cathodes). While the lines here seem the same length and the ones drawn in chemistry class are not, it still reminds me of that - perhaps that symbol means “to charge” or “charged”, so to fulfil the story, Yellow Guy must be (fully) charged?
i think duck clicked enter with the mouse as you can see the cursor on the login button
That’s true, he probably did
I have a little theory and don't want this to be perceived as me saying "This is wrong" to the vid, just something to consider:
Could the symbols relate to the timeline of events/the order the episodes are meant to be viewed in?
1. The briefcase from "Jobs", the symbol of the box with 2 dots and a handle. (I think this looks way too much like the briefcase to ignore)
5. Then it's "Electricity" one way it looks like an electric bolt, rotate it 90 degrees and you have the handle for the music box/house rotating system Lesley uses,
I'm scrolling through the top comments and nobody is mentioning the thing that in my opinion is the simplest explanation for the symbols
the symbol for yellow guy seems like either a face connected to an outlet or a battery case with a plug. both of them about how he is powered by electricity
for dock its either the head of his plane or if you flip it 90 degrees a face with a beak (if ìt is a face i don't know what the square is)
and the last one is just a humanoid with two big eyes just like red guy
all symbols represent a character
That means it might be just the book title. Like.. "The Story of the red guy, yellow guy, and the duck" or the entire show so yellow guy can see how it ends and do something about it. Just guessing...
Maybe it ends with yellow guy shredding the book 😭😭😭that’s why Lesley always knows what will happen
I haven’t watched the whole vid, but I wanted to say if you haven’t already that the car is somewhere in real life idk where but Becky posted a photo on her Instagram with the car irl with the tag “has anyone found the car?” Or something like that
Thank you for introducing me to ideographs in such an interesting way, they are fascinating. Love your channel.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Also the symbols that represent duck look like a duck when turned like how the red guy ones look like red guy idk how nobody noticed that
This is super cool!
@@RemGames I love that about dhmis so many mysteries.Keep up the great work :)
what about all the references to duck's death in the old series?
Yellow's symbol reminds me of the signal ground symbol, probably related to the fact that he's powered by electricity
one thing that i dont think was mentioned that i havent seen anyone else really mention. if we are assuming these symbols represent either characters names or characters in situations, why are yellow guy and ducks names on the left side (with their secondary symbols on the right) and red guys are the opposite? the main symbol for him is on the right side while the secondary is on the left. its a little bizarre and ever since bringing up the symbols it's always been in my mind. you think it's got something to do with how the sentences are read? or maybe having red by on the right could mean something else entirely, idk, just a shower thought
Maybe it’s literally supposed to mean that red guy is not on their side
@@andreaceleste2664 you've opened my eyes. Would make sense why he wanted to leave in episode 5 so bad. But then again who knows. Ty for giving me this thought tho its intriguing :eyes:

that written language could be like koran where more complext characters are built out of simpler ones and duck's name is just that alphabets equivalent to "a" while yellows is the equivalent of "martha" with the duck symbol being the last letter in yellow's name (like how his favorite color is green)
I'm German and noticed that for the example sentence he put “Beispielstaz„.
It's actually “Beispielsatz„.
Satz, not Staz, Rem xD
Ah damn, sorry 😂
@@RemGames Hahaha, no worries!! xDD, loved the video though :D
The symbol you were talking about sound alot like kanji.
the triangle with the tail connected to the rectangle with the two dots looks like a rat seen from above
That’s just the completed spatial distribution puzzle that yellow guy came up with in that episode.
Yay a conlang, time for a conlang critic episode!
🤷
Please Do Secondary Symbols + Part 3!
0:10 He’s pretending not to respect Duck.
I have a couple thoughts:
The symbols next to their names all have numbers when you rotate them.
In Bingo, 22 is "two little ducks".

has anyone else noticed that theres a lot of alchemy symbols in the language? they arent all exact copies or combinations, but there are quite a few! the symbol for "earth" is in yellows name, what i think looks like "magnet" is part of reds name, and the companion symbol to ducks name is really similar to the sign for "bismuth"!
I'm starting to suspect that one theory i read about is right. All of the simbols, all of the hiden stuff in the show are just red herrings. There's no meaning behind it and it's all a big troll.
Probably right they just wanna see us suffer
I'd say this is a stretch but I think Becky and Joe know that people like you exist who will go super deep into it so I think this could be intended
It’s VERY intentional! (First of all, I love the Unus Annus profile pic) but Becky and Joe actually went on the record in a few interviews where they mention that sometimes they don’t really know all the answers to what they make and they do a form of give-and-take with theorists that they base some things in their show off of. crazy how the first season of dhmis revealed the most about red guy’s back story and this new season revealed yellow guy’s so will the next season reveal duck’s?🤔 i feel like theyre all dead idk how to explain it but theyre forced to lived together and the way yellow guy died was revealed, maybe red guy was depressed with work and was unable to make his dreams come true (about his show) and sold his soul to get his show or sum idk about him but a lot of duck’s parts have to do with the military like him telling yellow guy about it, him in the plane at his funeral (maybe military related), and he sang about the military during the job episode, theres prob more
Creators of the show: haha funny squiggle
In the original UA-cam series the last episode shows the inner workings of a powerful being controlling the strings behind the scenes revealed as "Roy" (yellow guy's father) only for him to be another character that randomly shows up, but the TV series at the last episode the big reveal that Lesley is the one behind everything and controlling the strings, as she gives yellow guy the book he asks "did I...?" as he noticed the symbols he drew on the paper at the table, the glimpse of more stairs shows that Lesley might not be the one in control but as the one who maintains the house keeping everything flowing and rewinding everyday
I'm not gonna make any assumptions since I personally don't like to deep dive into shows but this had me in a stupor for a week to think about
Love this theory series! PLS MAKE MORE
They’re coming! I’m making the video I’m most excited for currently!
These are things I’ve noticed, hope this helps!
mate your amazing at what you do
Thank you so much! I’m always trying to make the next video better than the last!
@@RemGames the theories are incredible, I'm glad you bring real world logic into it, like an up and coming matpat :)
i think the yellow guy's symbol is him destroying the book in the shredder. Above is the head, and it connects with a body and arm that holds something triangular (the book) and seems to be putting it into something (the shredder).
Well, who has made an error at the example sentence of german at 3:17? I have to guess you meant "Beispielsatz" not "beispielstaz".

I find this interesting because Stain Edwards actually kills Duck with a handheld weapon at the end of episode 8, otherwise a shovel.
and I'm a yellow pig!!
He was SO close to getting it. Only messed up his color…
wait what

a few notes on things ive noticed:
red guys symbol: half filled dots and half empty dots, connected by squiggles or something. symetrucal almost like yin yang? also, hes put under the "wavy" symbol, like hes drowning as the identity card mentions. also looks like a molecule or the electric grapes? the "wave" symbol also looks like a camel with a sun over it but i could be tripping
yellow guys: his "first name" symbol contains alchemical reference to 'earth', and his other symbol's circle is the alchemical symbol for the sun or gold. both are yellow? the wiggles under the sun might represent shining a light, or that hes powered by electricity (sine waves and whatnot) the circle over waves symbol also looks like a virus, like too much like a virus. ive seen the "suitcase" part of his first name be argued to be a reference to the job episode or maybe batteries? also, this symbol: 王 in chinese means king, and its often associated with yellow guy too in a few of his symbols. probably coincidence?
as for ducks symbol, ive always seen it as like a tank or something. the square could be in reference of his little red pocket thing? im at a loss. his second symbol resembles a road to me, but the two 2's inverted on themselves could be a reference to the ars goetia or maybe another alchemical thing? also looks an aweful lot like the rod of Asclepius? often associated with medicine and healing. also, an exerpt from sefer raziel hamalakh has many symbols resembling the dots and lines. idk. this has been keeping me up lmao
heres some more schizoid bs:
this is absolutely a coicidence but ducks name looks like an o/z in hylian (yeah lmao) and some lines look like celestial writing? i know nothing can be garnered from this information but 🤸🤸
I think the ideogram theory has a lot of potential (Yellow Guy basically comes right out and says that's what it is in ep6), but beyond David's symbol(s), the assumptions and guesses at what the remaining symbols mean are flimsy and unsubstantiated, but you hold on to a lot of them anyway.
Just been rewatching and THE BOARD GAME THEY PLAY IN EPISODE 3 IS “Red Guy” shaped
Just found you via Film Theory. Love what I've seen so far. Thanks for the content and look forward to seeing more.
3:59 he says pound when it shows a hashtag
15:24 - When I watched it, I heard "You made a name! Of course!"
So I thought Yellow Guy just created a fake name to be the password... xD
I recognize a few alchemical/metallurgy symbols in the glyphs- earth, sun, mars, and duck's entire name just kinda looks like the symbol for magnesium. I don't think it holds water, but that's all the connections i can draw.
I've got it that isn't a book it's a manga where the full set-up of the series is the total of the title
Surely it's not the enter key because there's the "Sign In" button on the computer, that's what they press to actually enter the password.
I think its a map of possible time loops in the house, like a maze with several exits and re-entrances. Circles represent red guy (referencing his eyeballs) triangles represent duck (referencing his beak) and the line is yellow guy traversing it.
3:15 as a german I sadly have to say, that that is wrongly spelled^^
It is "Beispielsatz" (the big "B" is also important and not just for estatics")
I have to point out yellow guy says that the language is not like anything we currently have in the real world and could follow its own rules and another thing is that one symbol could mean multiple things, either way I’m happy to see an effort to solve it
Hype. Maybe signs in the stained glass (leslie's room)?
Remember Matpat’s theory including the original series being a tv show, well what if the ‘dolls’ in the new show are just toys based off of the show.( also I think I haven’t heard anybody mention this but I’m pretty sure Roy is meant to represents David’s father and thereby Leslie’s husband).
yellow guy's name is David
in the Death Episode the coffin assumed that Yellow guy was the one who died.
in the Last episode Lesley said to yellow guy "You're not my real son"
this means, Yellow guy (David) (lesley's son) died
8:41 you can see him press the squiggles twice for Ducks name- so that seems important for the two hooks in the white portion
