The fight at the Earth King’s Palace is one of my FAVORITE moments of this show. It’s sooooo cool. Shows how far the Gaang has truly come into both their own bending and working as a team overall.
The problem is Zuko doesn't really know what he wants at this point, it's why he's so conflicted. He still wants the love of his father and doesn't understand it's impossible, so sad. Also the Earth King thinking the Avatar is Sokka and not Aang is because he didn't know about the war, so wouldn't realize he had disappeared as is still an airbender and not a water tribe kid.

The Earth King mistaking Sokka for the Avatar is a detail a lot of people skip over without realizing the significance of it: the vast majority of the world thinks that the Air Avatar (Aang) either died early or didn't reincarnate at all, so logic stands that the current Avatar of this era should be a Waterbender not an Airbender...
The Earth King is always one of my favorite episodes. Such a good action sequence getting to the palace, and such an amazing cliff hanger leading into the finale.
Zuko's issues are not because he did a nice thing - it's more than that - he made a choice that radically changes his direction ... it's like a person who has been a hard core member of a political party suddenly realising they had been wrong all this time and so they change parties. The action of changing parties is a small thing but it represents something huge.

20:25 The tattoos aren’t an indicator for him. This guy has been kept so in the dark for his entire life, he likely had no idea that the air avatar had disappeared for 100 years. In his mind, if there’s a group of kids and one is the avatar, it makes the most sense for it to be one of the water tribe kids, since water comes after air in the cycle. And Long Feng said “the avatar and his friends” so the king picked Sokka.

So how Jet probably died:
The rock broke his upper rib cage, causing the shattered fragments of bone to pierce his heart and lungs. Any movement that Jet would have made would simply have moved the fragments, thus causing further damage. That is why he remained motionless while giving Aang his apology and saying his last goodbyes. In fact, Katara attempting to heal him only prolonged his agony.
seems you may be thinking a little too hard about it, considering there’s multiple other occasions in the show where people get hit with the same move and get back up just fine

Try being an 80's kid. What we watched for fun are movies and shows that traumatize full-grown adults today who were born after our generation.

I’m not sure if this is true.
But I believe in the original draft for the scene where they leave Jet with the fighters, longshot was meant to draw his bow and aim at Jet
The logic being that Long Fengs attack did some SERIOUS damage to Jet, hit him square in the chest. Which meant he’d be in a LOT of pain, and that he’d be in for a very painful end. So they were going to insinuate that Longshot, put him out of his misery.
Of course that wouldn’t fly on Nick, so they changed it to longshot standing guard instead

I'm the jet scene, the books have longshot aim the bow and arrow at jet. Signifying that he was dying. But it was too much for Nickelodeon so they animated him aiming at the door.

So Jet is dying, and actually did perish in the original script, but Nickelodeon didn't let them depict a child dying on a cartoon rated Y7 (naturally) lol. So they made it more ambiguous.

Not on his death bed but he recorded it just before his death so that's why you can hear the raw emotion in his voice when he sings it. He thought he was tone deaf and was scared to perform it but when he sang it brought everyone listening to tears.

No spoilers here, but I just want to say that you don't have to worry about the new Iroh voice actor. He does an amazing job at doing the voice and cadence. Honestly, I would bet that for most people, if they didn't know he was a different VA, wouldn't realize just by watching the show.
