    My grandpa farmed with WD's in the 60's because when my parents took me to the farm and I heard the silo running I hopped out of the car before it Even stopped and ran and rode the fender while he feed the cattle with a a schlegar feed wagon

    I learned to drive tractors on a WC Allis Chalmers when I was 10 years old. Lucky I didn’t kill myself trying to reach a clutch pedal while holding on tight to the steering wheel. My leg was not long enough. Yep ! I pulled a few wheel stands on it.😎✌🏻🙏🏽🇺🇸

    On the subject of our favorite - the Handyman jack - did you know that Tractor Supply sells a rebuild/repair kit for them. Just saw them the other day. Good video - I like that the ramp on your trailer is set up for narrow front ends.

    Sat many hours on my grandpa’s WD. First tractor I ever ran. Probably only 5-6 years old when he had me try backing it out of the shed and about took out the chicken coop! It was another year after before he let me try it again. He put me on the riding mower for a summer to hone some skills… lol

    The steps on the 190 bring back bad memories of falling off my Grandpa's 4040 and 4455 as a kid. Those were the only two Deeres with those goofy steps and I couldn't remember that as a little kid.

    Man, you are in my wheelhouse with this one. Where to begin, the blades you reference were made at the Oxnard works in California. They are Hell for stout! Just wish they were 7'! I have an N.O.S. "ditching point" that I bought, (and paid dearly for) last June for one. Box blade ends were also available for them. Good luck with this one, looking forward to more episodes!

    If you have aluminum scrap, try to knock off or cut out any iron bits attached, if not you'll get paid at a much lower grade price.

    I see you had a great childhood growing up with AC. I bet you worked at your local dealership just like I did. I started as mechanic, moved into parts, elevated to manager then eventually ended up as sales manager. Thirty five years before finishing my sentence at John Deere .

    Good to see that Orange! I have a wide front WD (built within two weeks of the WD we had back on the farm when I was a kid). I would really suggest adding a three point system on there and the tractor will get used for a lot more tasks rather than sitting. Sitting is no good for tractors. ... Get a used pair of Ford/Ferguson lower three point arms, bolt the front ends to the L-brackets the straight hitch attach to (I think I used the farthest forward pair, maybe the second pair), then use strap steel down-riggers from the lift arms, one side drill a series of holes to change leveling if needed or buy Tractor Supply Kubota turn buckle vertical drops that are reasonably priced (I ended up swapping the hair pins for nylock nuts and bolts). A couple of Ford/Ferg arm and chassis bracket pins with short chains for sway control and you are in business for cheap. Vintage tractor parts sites carry those sway chains and pins for low cost but I'm sure you have something around the parts bins. Spray paint it all orange and it looks like factory! Since it looks like you have 12v on there I'd get a pair of LED module lights like I put on my Ferguson, super bright and under $20/pair.

    My grandpa put me behind the wheel of his WD at the top of his ridge road. He was gonna follow me down off the ridge. He said don't push in the clutch because the brakes don't work and walked away. I was around 10yrs old. I hung on to that steering wheel for dear life. .

    Ross, on those Knipex pliers, flip them around, you get far more leverage that way and the harder you pull or push, the tighter they get on the heads of bolts or nuts. AC and Farmall both had the best "quick hitch" styles.

    Nice WD Ross! Nice and straight. Looks like the right fender is bent a little, but doesn't look to be torn up or rotted out. The old girl has done some work for sure though looking at the drawbar hole. Seeing a WD, 190 and 200 on your dads farm makes me wonder how the nut fell so far from the tree! 😂. The square cam bolts are 1/2". I made a tool for them by welding 2 sockets together. A larger one with the smaller one welded inside of it so its 1/2" both ways. Works great! Those Allis snap coupler blades are built very heavy, and a WD will never give one any wounds! I don't think a 100 hp would hurt one of them! You sure have better luck than I do with the high pressure injection lines, the ones that always seem to give me grief is the one against the engine so you have to take the whole thing apart to fix it. It doesn't matter if its a roosa master or CAV, it seems to be the inside one for me! 😮. How does Buddy react when you've been two timing him with another dog? My old King use to pout and be upset if he smelled another dog on me! Another good video Ross!

    Be careful with those copper washers on the banjo bolts on the rosa/stanadyne pumps as their is a danger of over crushing the washer and bottoming the bolt on the rotor and locking up the pump. If it keeps leaking take the line off and carefully stone the banjo sealing surface. May be a slight ring keeping it from sealing.

    Allis made a decent tractor, I just don't like them. I find them very uncomfortable to operate sticking my legs out in front of me so far for the clutch. My lower back is nearly crippled so that is a factor in that. Back in 2016 I got fed up with the crappy farm trailers and having to fix them everytime we needed to use one. I ordered an equipment trailer and just paid the bill when it arrived. It's been the best upgrade I have done over the last decade to make life easier.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  9 місяців тому

      You’re the winner! This is actually a WD with a WD-45 engine, or the other way around I could never remember. There’s also something to do with the bent gearshift versus a straight gearshift, but I could never remember, which is which.

    • @tractorsold1
      @tractorsold1 8 місяців тому

      @@rosstheolivermanIf it's straight, it was built as a WD. If it was built as a WD-45, then it's curved. The last year of the WD was also curved. Allis did dealer shop conversions of the WD engine tonproduce WD-45 power, and it's often done during later WD engine rebuilds. The biggest other difference is the hitch, Snap Coupler was optional on the WD, standard on the WD-45.
