Spot on Dan Nice modification for that great little shaper. I had the same trouble with my Loco Brake Square thread Nut, but my boring bar was only 1/8" diameter, Jesus that was tense!!🤣🤣😉😉👍👍 Keep up the good work take care Kev uk
Thanks Kev. Appreciate you watching and commenting. WOW 1/8 boring bar now that would take a while. I certainly had some flex even with the bar I was using. Thanks again for the encouragement via your kind words.
Gday Dan, nothing wrong with showing the screw ups, I think it good simply because someone might learn something, it might just make there life a bit easier, internal threading has it own challenges every time, not a favourite past time that’s for sure, great job mate, cheers
Thanks Matty! You are right - might as well share. Either folks will laugh, cringe, or hopefully avoid following my well intentioned but still dumb example. 😀 Thanks for watching.
Thanks Max. Trying the same with new tap of the same size was a hot mess. After doing the internal threading that tap is going in the drawer for thread chasing duty only. Thanks for watching and encouraging me.
I've got a Lewis shaper and I'm in Michigan too. If you want to part with the old vise (specifically the base) I'd be interested in purchasing it from you so I can use it on my machine.
I used the lower quality carbon steel sections @ $20 for 3 ft. and I bought two pieces. The Alloy steel is $55 for the same 3ft. For the precision 3ft sections the 1018 carbon steel is $55 and stainless is $91.
@@BensWorkshop 1,3,6 ft. From McMaster Carr our incredible supplier we can rely on. LOL. Pricey, but typically always great products. Incredible website with options to import component drawings directly into CAD.
@@BensWorkshop Good hunting. www.mcmaster.com They are a big outfit and will likely have the process all sorted to ship your way. Over here they are known for having just about everything, and in my case lightning fast shipping. I am about 200 miles away from their warehouse and many days I can have my order the next day or worst the day after.

Raising the shaper table without using a handle is quite unique. On most machines is hard work. You have a win on this one.
Thank you! Old age and treachery are my only remaining skills… LOL. Lazy is a function of treachery… 😀
Hello Dan,
Looks like you got a winner... I mess up all the time...
Take care.
Paul,,
Thanks Paul.

Good job Dan . That type of thread always has it's challenges , 7/16 internal square thread would be the smallest one i have done ! 👍

good job Dan. the table was a pain to raise up on my shaper
Thanks Doug. Sitting here thinking about a table height lock….LOL. Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving.
Oh yeah. Brass and bronze love to grab. Heck you should have hollered at me. I have a 3/4-6 LH acme tap you could have borrowed.
Thanks Tom. I had a tap as well and I struggled to get it done by hand. Thanks for watching.

Well done. How much does ACME threaded rod cost in the USA?

@@houseofbrokendobbsthings5537 Interesting. I wonder how much shipping to the UK would cost. I will have to look that up.
