I saw you using a brake bleeder to vacuum can dry goods and thought "would you look at that!" I had been putting off vacuum sealing because the sealers were so expensive and I don't have a lot of counter space (and my storage spaces are filled with canned goods lol). I had to order a different bleeder because yours wasn't available for me. When the package arrived, I rushed to the kitchen, ripped open the box and started trying it out. It worked!!!! The kids came into the kitchen after hearing my giggles and they started looking for things to vacuum seal!! I can dehydrate again!!! My flour won't get rancid! My herbs will stay fresh! I've said it before and I'll say it again - coming across your videos at this stage in my life is no accident!!! It was meant to be :) *in case Canadian viewers are curious, it was the Mityvac MV8000 that I ordered. Thank goodness for you!
Oh my goodness! I have been searching for a source of whole dry milk! I'll be purchasing this! And my husband will love the idea of the brake bleeder! You don't know what a Godsend you and your husband are! Thank you dear lady! Still in a binge-watching mode. Wish I had found y'all sooner!
Hi Heidi! I absolutely LOVE your channel!!! Thank you Thank you so much for being such a great Teacher! Also I just received our seeds from your Etsy shop, thank you for your instructions on how to plant them. God Bless you and your family!
Greetings from East Texas! Super loving your videos. Doing a Binge Watch. Your skills are such a blessing for us Newbies. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Oh no! A mushroom cloud, lol...but you figured it out on the milk...good job. Modern pickled foods are dead. Distilled vinegar is a destroyer, it even kills staph and strep!! If you are what you eat, you should avoid dead processed foods. Great video!! Thank you.
Funny that many do not realize that fermenting is the original form of "pickling" - it is instead associated with anything made with a distilled vinegar.
Love your sharpie idea. I dry canned some rice and beans and put date and product name on top. I have a binder with the name and cooking instructions in it. 👍👍
I'd love to see a weekly menu of what y'all eat! I've changed my diet in past 3 months to whole organic food and primarily to reduce estrogen mimickers.....hormonal issues! I love all the things you use and make.....and I'm trying to plan better especially with things my husband will eat.
I do have several recipe videos out and more to come. WInter time is when I am more likely to do recipe videos since I am not doing as much videos outside :D
Great I need the deep sleep I hadn’t seen that one. Also I will be going back through your videos looking for the ones that you talk about thyroid issues just learned I have a thyroid problem. Thanks for all you do!
I am a milk drinker, and it has to be regular milk; no 2% or fat free. I bought some of that powdered whole milk from Amazon, just out of curiosity. Sure enough, two weeks ago, I did not feel like driving into town just for a gallon of milk. So I thought, if not now, when? I mixed up a batch of that powder and it got me through the whole weekend, plus a couple of days. It was surprisingly delicious! I was very pleasantly surprised. This is nothing like the nonfat instant we usually get at the store. This stuff is good, and completely drinkable! 👍 I just thought of this... The same company that makes the whole milk powder, also makes a full cream powder, also available on Amazon. This stuff is so good, I no longer buy half & half to cream my coffee. I've eliminated that expense, entirely! ($5.29 per half gallon, last time I bought it.) I have some cute but functional 12oz bottles. I mix enough powder to fill two of those. I do that about twice a week, and enjoy my coffee now, more than ever! ☕😀
Thanks for sharing your experience and I am so glad you like it. O yes, I recently learned about the cream from another and added it to my subscribe and save along with the white cheddar powder. I also decided to try their butter powder and the buttermilk powder. I have yet to use the buttermilk powder but I am thinking it would work well in making ranch dressing. The butter powder I have tried a bit. While nothing can replace fresh creamy butter, it was not bad. One thing I did do was make popcorn, put regular butter on it, then added the butter powder for extra butter flavor. That was pretty good. Cannot wait to try this with the white cheddar cheese powder though!
@@RainCountryHomestead I already had some still-unopened buttermilk powder from the store, so I skipped that. But I did get the sour cream powder. It does not reach the same thickness as store-bought. There's also a taste difference. I've never tried plain or Greek-style yogurt, but I'm guessing it's more similar to that. I personally prefer the taste of store-bought for baked potatoes, or to top Mexican food. But I mixed a batch of the powdered mix and tried it in some stroganoff, and thought it was perfectly acceptable, as I'm sure it would be in other cooked, or baked goods. But for eating on its own, I think I'll still keep some store-bought on hand.
I just got a jar of Mother Earth mixed veggies (for my ramen soup) just as a test to see if I liked their products ... it was a hit with all of my family. So Im going to stock up on other fruits and veggies now.
Great information! The ferment liquid to pickle eggs, who would have thought:) I have garlic and hot pepper juices I don't want to throw out and this is perfect, thank you Rain!
You and your husband look fantastic! I laughed out loud when you said you were in your 50's in your intro video. Now after watching some of your videos, it's clear why! I am so excited to learn some of your tricks. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve bought Hoosier sour cream powder and for me at least there’s a strong “off” taste that shows up in food. I can taste it in casserole foods that I bake. I’ve tried their cheese powder and didn’t care for that either. I’ll use your suggestion to try Mother Earth. As is true about any of our senses, your mileage may vary. Thanks for all your hard work producing these helpful videos. I know they don’t just “happen”.
I never did try their brand as I had many tell me the same as well as the reviews. I did try Judee's and it was not bad but like any dried dairy that is that distinct taste they all seem to have. I will be trying to dehydrate sour cream this weekend just to see if it will work and if it does, how the taste compares
@@debbytomlinson9970 Dollar Tree is over an hour's drive away, not worth the cost in fuel. BUT, if we ever have to go into town again, I may check it out if there is time
Aloha from Hawaii! I’m a new subscriber and God knows what I needed :) I’ve been searching for a video like this for a while now:) I WILL be watching more of your videos !!! Mahalo ~ Thank you!
Tried vacuum sealing some jars of dried beans with my vacuum sealer yesterday . Only got 2 of them to successfully seal. Got frustrated and gave up. FOR SURE going to get a brake bleeder and give your method a try!
I have become so disappointed in FoodSaver, seems their quality is going down. The last (and fourth one) I had quit working on me last summer. I am giving up on them entirely.
Mine is a ziploc brand. I’ve had 2-3 food saver brand ones over the years. Have not been really impressed with the durability of them. Plus the cost of bags (even the generic ones) is outrageous! Also the fact that I’m TRYING to get away from plastics as much as possible. Love love love your channel! 👍🏻
WOW, am I glad I ran across your channel !!! I'm sure I will learn a lot from you !! There are no coincidences, This channel was meant for me! Good to meet you 😊. I'm looking forward to all you can teach me.
IM FINALLYYYYYYYY "ALMOST" AS SMART AS MY MOM AT SOMETHING!!!!!!!!! Whooooowhooooooooo lmbo I use the same whole milk annnnd the Mother Earth dried goodies already!!! I wanted to store a good healthy milk for the grandkids and really did my research. I LOVE the Hoosier Hill whole organic milk. It's really tasty and works well in all sorts of applications. It is pricey so I use it sparingly even the one I opened to try. I of course store it in the Mason jar sealed. I hope folks give it a go because even my grands couldn't tell when I made them chocolate milk what it was. They're 3 and 5 so they KNOW their chocolate milk! Hahaha I literally LOL'd when you said "mushroom cloud." Hahaha Too funny. Thanks sooooo much for sharing this. I always worry when trying new stuff if I'm buying the "right" thing. I want to be frugal but I want to be as healthy as possible especially in an SHTF situation. This just reaffirms my choices and reminds me that YES I am paying attention and understanding. Thanks so much for ALL you do. Love, hugs and blessings ~The Kid!
How cool! Sometimes when I recommend such things, I get concerned maybe it is just me that likes them and others will try it and hate it, thinking I am crazy! haha
Heidi, I never heard of the name brand freeze dried foods you mentioned - will be checking them out. Don't know why I never thought about using rosemary in my ferments. I am sending you an email.
I found it and it was available through Subscribe and Save so I added it to my list. I also added the powdered white cheddar, that sounds like it would be good for making dips and sauces with or using on popcorn
*a mushroom cloud* ... ha. ha. ha. You're a funny girl, eh? :-D!!! I SEE IT!!! I SEE IT!!! I FINALLY SEE IT!!!!!!! My life is NOW complete!!! I can't even believe you remembered such a silly thing that has been on my mind for MONTHS. LOL Just for your edification, that little button on the bottom is a pressure release valve. When you have nothing else to do, (haha!) pump her up to 15, and instead of taking the tip out of the top of the plastic sealer, press that little button. This, of course, is for your entertainment only. And, for other folks thinking about buying the brake bleeder, this has ABsoLUTEly NOTHING to do with the effectiveness of Heidi's intended use. Thank you, Heidi!! You truly are a good & thoughtful friend, & I love you to pieces!!! :-* I clicked on your link, and sure enough, it is NON GMO and ORGANIC ... WHOLE... milk. ??? All the research I have done says we can NOT dehydrate whole milk because of the fat. Can you tell me how this is even possible? At some point in time, I WILL be buying this. It is what I have been looking for & have never been able to find. THANK YOU!!! I absolutely can NOT WAIT until the hand crocheted basket video comes out!!! AS ALWAYS ... I learn a WHOLE BUNCHA things from you! A GREAT BIG THANK YOU for explaining that cheap regular white vinegar is made from GMO CORN. WHO KNEW?!? I love Love LOVE your vinegars & fermentation starters!!! Ya just beat 'em with' a stick!!! Did you know ... I watch your videos several times over, while taking notes? It's a MUST DO! I don't know how you keep all that info in the pretty little head of yours, but, I do know there's not enough room in mine! Yes, , , I literally have a 5" *Heidi binder*! :-D You & Mr. Rain ... both PRECIOUS GEMS :-* Love & prayers
You made me laugh with "mushroom cloud", too funny. Thanks for sharing the info, I purchase Honeyville, but it's gotten so pricey. I will try these if you purchase them, I know you gave them a true evaluation. Blessings
I am glad I saw this. I have been looking into Thrive. I might have to try some of those. I liked the fact that Thrive had the smaller cans and that you didn't have to buy the #10 cans to start out with. Do you use oxygen absorbers when you vacuum up your stuff?
This is an old video, I actually deal with Mother Earth Products directly and have a link that can save people 10% and you can even buy them in mylar bags instead of the plastic containers, which I prefer and you save money on them that way too. You can even buy sample sizes. Now Thrive has more organic stuff than Mother Earth but all their stuff is suppose to be Non GMO. Here is the link to Mother Earth: motherearthproducts.com/discount/raincountry
HI again Heidi, the dohicky on the bottom of the break bleeder, is actually a release valve. You can push it, and it releases the air. :) (I had to ask hubby, because I have one too! LOL) Yahweh bless you ❤️❤️❤️
I have learned so much from watching your videos and appreciate it all. I am wondering if I can vacuum seal chia and flax seeds in the jar method. I don't know if they go rancid and need to be frozen rather than jar sealed. I would greatly appreciate knowing what to do with them! Thanks so much.
Yes, you should be able to, I actually have had flax seeds in a bucket that is not even sealed for years and they are still good and I have a lot of chia seed vacuum sealed into jars, also for several years
Glad you like it! I just found another brand that is available through the subscribe and save program so I am going to try it as well and do an update video on that.

Haha!! You're such a hoot!! I might have to get that milk. I like adding a little when I'm making bread. I just can't believe how expensive it is. I remember complaining about the price years ago when my kids were little. I wish it cost that much now. Haha. Every time you bring out the brake bleeder lately, I have to laugh. A while back I was with my husband in the Auto Part Store and he was doing his thing and I walked around looking for a brake bleeder. I couldn't find it but this clerk saw me, so I told him and he started looking, too. Well, my husband sees this and he comes over and really puzzled, he asks me what I want with a brake bleeder. Well, I had to tell him about what you use it for and this male clerk looked at me like I had lost it. Actually, my husband did, too. So, I go up front to pay for my husbands stuff and the male cashier also asked me what I wanted to use it for, because the clerk must have said something to him about it, so I told him, too. LOL I'm sure I was quite the talk that day. I'm hoping they passed the information on to their wives, because I explained every part to them, right down to what pressure they had to go to. Haha. Oh well..........Take care.
When I told my oldest son (the diesel mechanic) why I bought a brake bleeder, he looked at me like I had totally lost my mind. Then, I SHOWED him how it worked. He had to eat a little crow that day, along with the he Himalayan Pink Salt that he thinks I do not need to spend the money on. HAH!!!
Kathleen Zimmerman, Hahaha!! See, you know. That was the look that I got from all three. LOL There's always a method to my madness, is what I tell my husband. I guess if I had been my husband, I would have wondered what I wanted with a brake bleeder too, because I'm not the mechanic type and he was probably shocked that I even knew about a brake bleeder, but he could have asked me in private. I made him buy me supper that night, so it's all good. Haha!
O man, these are great stories! Makes me want to go into our local auto store and pretend I want to buy a brake bleeder just so I can tell them what I use it for and see what their reactions are. HAHAHA! Besides, I may WANT to buy another just to have a spare...it does turn out they make great brake bleeders too! haha
Learning so much, so fast from you, Heidi! Love it all! I was about to put in an order for freeze dried foods from Mother Earth but do not see any mention of organic. Do you know if they have organic or if they grow their own? I never buy conventional strawberries. Their customer service is closed right now. Thanks so much for all you do.
They carry organic when they can get it but it goes out of stock quickly. I have bought quite a few organic products from them, including strawberries, bananas, corn, and more
Quick question. Vacuum sealing the jars is good, but if any mold or bacteria spores get in while adding the goods to the jars, they will remain in there after vacuum sealing. Have you ever tried "dry canning" your goods for sanitation and long term storage?
I have looked into dry canning but have yet to find it necessary. I have been vacuum sealing for years and am very happy with it and it works great for me. It is simple, quick, and requires no electricity.
I don't know if you know about Azure Standard? If they deliver to your area you can sometimes get a good price on some organic dried things. You do have to add a delivery charge so that often negates the good prices. Just wondered if you knew about them.
Yes, thank you, I know about them but they do no deliver here. I have tried to set up an account with them and see if they would be willing to deliver here but they never got back to me so I took that as they were not willing to come to our remote area, which did not surprise me. Glorybee is a good one and I like them and have had them deliver here but there are issues with that too because of another lady that does the co-op with them and it gets so frustrating so I just get what I can through Amazon and Costco online.
Ty for the recommendations. My son loves hot chocolate but I don't always have milk around. That powdered milk would be a great thing for us this winter. PS I just checked out the powdered milk and sadly it is packaged in a facility with peanuts, soy and wheat. It seems so many things are these days. :(
Yep, much of that is hard to avoid so we do the best we can. It is like using plastics and silicone, though we try to avoid them for the most part, they still have their place or sometimes one can simply not find a product (like a manual food processor) that is not made from plastic. As long as we are living as clean and healthy as we can and doing as much to detoxify, our bodies are intelligent enough to make up the difference. We would have to simply stop living to avoid every toxin there is.
Rain Country I totally agree and we are the same except when it comes to peanuts. My son is very allergic and it's just not worth the risk. I wasn't trying to discourage anyone from purchasing it. Only letting people know in case they have a similar situation.
O dear, I did not think that is what you were doing and I am sorry if I came across wrong. Glad you pointed that out. By the way,, I meant to add that I had found THIS one AFTER making this video, it is a better price and is made in a nut free facility. I am going to be trying it out via the subscribe and save but that means I will not get it until the end of the month: amzn.to/2hnIwR4
Rain Country no problem. I love the content of your chanel and the research you put into everything. I never mean to come across judgemental but I'm not great at written conversation. Sorry I sounded rude. In researching the powdered milk I had to go to the questions section to find out about the possible allergy issue. It's frustrating when the companies don't offer all the information on their products. The government requires it on food labels but Amazon does not have the same requirements.
I did not think you were one bit rude Melissa, I sure appreciate you taking the time to share all that, I often do not think about allergies because I do no have any so it is something I do not look for. I need to start thinking about that more for the sake of those that need that information.
I have a question for you. Recently i started getting interested in getting a freeze drier but the cost is huge. What is your take on freeze driers if i may ask? One thing i don’t like so far is that fruit can not rehydrate well and tends to fall apart unlike vegetables i believe. Just curious what you think about them. I follow many of your videos and just love them. Thank you❤️
Yes, I actually plan to do a video on this soon. It is an investment that should be tailored to the person. I have thought about it off and on for years but have pretty much decided that while it would be nice, it is not worth it to me to purchase one and I will go over why when I do that video. I hope to shoot it today if I have time. In the meantime, I did shoot a video on the general pros and cons of food preservation (canning, freezing, dehydrating, and freeze drying): ua-cam.com/video/NTM5Kxn-sA8/v-deo.html
I have several videos, this one is the longest because I try to cover all questions I get asked: ua-cam.com/video/gY6MaXCLSC8/v-deo.html You do not can fermented foods, the fermenting preserves them. They are best if kept in some sort of cold storage though such as the fridge or a root cellar if you have one
Love your video just one thing it's hard to hear you sometimes. I have checked my volume on video and computer. Thank you, and GOD Bless you for sharing.
That is because this is an old video before I was making enough money off youtube to be able to afford better equipment for sound, light, and video editing.
I meant at least some things - haha! I will likely still buy their organic hard white wheat berries as they have the best price, but I have been a bit disenchanted with them (honeyville) for a few reasons I will not get into, but for the most part, they do have great products
Thank you Kathy! No, I do not bother with the oxygen absorbers, as long as the jars hold their seal, there is no problem as all the oxygen gets removed in the vacuum packing.
Hi, first time viewer here. I really enjoyed your video. I never saw anyone seal their jar like that! Absolutely fascinating! Can you use that particular powdered milk to make the ""Magic Mix"? I subscribed and I'll be back for more! 😎
+Rain Country In the Store This, Not That videos they make and use Magic Mix made with non-instant powdered milk from the LDS cannery. I was wondering if your powdered milk is instant or non-instant. It would say on the container.
I've been away form the youtube for a few months (I just moved! and I'm catching up on all your videos. Do you reuse the plastic packaging the food initially comes in? I'm very sensitive to the amount of plastic waste I produce. Can these be re-purposed? Also do you use your powdered milk in baking? Thank you for such wonderful videos - you're on of my favorites!
Hey Laura, Patrick uses the plastic containers for nuts, bolts, and such, but when we get too many we toss them. The good news is that now I have an affiliate set up directly with Mother Earth Products and found that you can purchase their foods in various sizes and the quart size in mylar instead of the plastic jars and pay less for it that way too. Here is my affiliate link to their store: www.motherearthproducts.com/?tracking=5a11bef23a780 Either way, I find repackaging them in glass to be the best option. When I open a container of powdered milk, I try to use it as much as possible in whatever, including baking.
You mention using the powdered milk in making white chocolate, but you don't give your recipe. Am I the only one who sees something wrong here? LOL Do you have a video with the recipe already? 💚🌻💚 Ooh, loving all the links to recipes!

I forgot to mention that I do not have a video just on making white chocolate but I explain in in the peppermint patty video because the base of it is white chocolate with peppermint oil added - that could be why you missed it
Im very curious about longer term food storage and whats best for nutritive value and digestibility. Ive dabbled in fermenting, freezing, dehydrating, and thus far just water bath canning. Ive heard some nay-say nutritive value of pressure canned foods referring to foods that are dead. Currently im on a specialized diet ( GAPS ) & ferments are considered fabulous as well as well cooked meats and veg in broths. It sounds to me like pressure canning would not affect that long wet cooking process much more differently than simmering it as a soup or stew. I value the benefits of killing botulinum toxins thru proper canning but i also want to consume and grow food and preserve it in a way thats good for ME & suits my particular needs. Do u consider pressure canned food fairly nutritious?
Though fresh raw produce and meats that have been less cooked are always going to be the most nutritious, I do not believe that all canned foods, even pressure canned, are fully depleted of nutrition. Better to have a jar of pressure canned green beans on hand than no food at all if a crises hits. Fermenting is the best way to preserve foods for the sake of both the nutrients and the probiotics, however, though I love kimchi, I do not prefer to have all my food fermented and it still requires cold storage. For long term food storage, dehydrating is the best in preserving nutrients and space saving. Freezing is a great way to preserve nutrients but requires electricity and freezer space. Personally, I do all of the above.
Thank you. I thought so but wanted to make sure. I don’t use a dehydrator for leafy things. With no humidity and a very hot sun, I can sun dry them in two days.
Wow, extremely educational and excellent video, I learned a lot thank you for sharing. New subscriber here, hope you’re still on here, didn’t see any new recent videos, thank you again and God bless you

Good idea and I had considered that but the Organic Valley I have is a non fat and does not taste near as good so I would rather just it up in recipes rather than change the wonderful flavor of the other :)
I do actually have powdered whole goat milk and mention it in my milk storage video. It is pretty good stuff. I know some people have used it to make soap but I have never made it myself. I might some day though :)
This is an old video and I do not buy them like that anymore so I do not remember. I now buy directly from Mother Earth Products and only buy in the mylar bags, not the plastic containers: motherearthproducts.com/discount/raincountry
I don't have powdered milk on hand but I just had an idea. What if you added powdered milk to fresh milk to make ice cream? Essentially you'd be rehydration powdered milk with milk instead water.
It really depends on what it is. Some things I do not bother resealing if I am going to work through it quickly or if it is something I am not worried about going stale or rancid. I always reseal dried meats but never bother with herbs if I am working through that jar. Dried fruits and veggies I usually do not bother resealing but if you want to keep freeze dried fruits and veggies crisp, they should be resealed
@@RainCountryHomesteadGood Morning Blessings thank you what about fruits and vegetables that are freshly cut and put in jar once I opened it do. I have to use it all or can I put back on shelf? and do they need to be resealed ?if their is left over in jar that I opened like kale chard sweet potatoes beets tomatoes carrots cabbage collard greens thank you 😃
You cannot vacuum seal or reseal fruits and veggies and put on a shelf that are not dehydrated, that process is ONLY for dried goods. If you put such things on a shelf and not in the fridge, they will spoil. They will spoil in the fridge to after a time, it just takes longer.
im totally confused about differences in tinctures, extracts and teas, and other ways of using herbs and stuff....when is a tincture more effective than an extract? etc....I think that is what always makes me scratch my head...probably just my thick skull...lol
I have a video I will be putting up later this next week on making a pain tincture and I believe I do talk about some of this there but I will try to shoot another video soon talking about the differences. A tincture is your strongest and most highly medicinal form of an extract. If taking for the health and medicinal purpose, you do not need to take as much to achieve the same results as an extract. I try to use vinegar to make such extracts as much as possible because of it is practically free to make it where as vodka and other high proof alcohols can be expensive to purchase. Teas (or herbal infusions) are likely to have the least amount of medicinal properties but are still very useful.
THANK YOU!!! A MILLION TIMES, THANK YOU! this makes so much more sense! I need to get some of the herbal books and smarten up, but this is super helpful for when watching vids....BLESS YOU heidi! =)

I just thought of this...
The same company that makes the whole milk powder, also makes a full cream powder, also available on Amazon.
This stuff is so good, I no longer buy half & half to cream my coffee. I've eliminated that expense, entirely! ($5.29 per half gallon, last time I bought it.)
I have some cute but functional 12oz bottles.
You are so very welcome! :D
You and your husband look fantastic! I laughed out loud when you said you were in your 50's in your intro video. Now after watching some of your videos, it's clear why! I am so excited to learn some of your tricks. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Liz! :D
I love the containers. So many uses for them after you eat the food. Great for other foods.
I so want to get the items needed to dry can. I will some day, lol. Thanks for sharing. You always have such good information. - Jenny
Betten The Farm Hope you got all your items by now , it’s vital to have food storage . ❤️👍🏼
Your a hoot , always learning new things thanks so much for sharing and God bless you both
Thanks I think might save money in the long run. Saving money in the long run. Sometimes I have to toss organic food I buy.
I also found if you cover your Sharpie with a dry erase marker and wipe off it takes all the sharpie off.
Yep, I have done that too and it works great, but dry erase markers are a bit expensive, though it is a tad easier to use them :)

Yay. Just ordered the Brake blender pump on amazon. One was sold out. This brand had good reviews

IM FINALLYYYYYYYY "ALMOST" AS SMART AS MY MOM AT SOMETHING!!!!!!!!! Whooooowhooooooooo lmbo
I use the same whole milk annnnd the Mother Earth dried goodies already!!! Hahaha
I literally LOL'd when you said "mushroom cloud." Hahaha Too funny.

How cool! Sometimes when I recommend such things, I get concerned maybe it is just me that likes them and others will try it and hate it, thinking I am crazy! haha
Thank you for telling me about MOTHER EARTH. I had forgotten the company. Good video.
Heidi, I never heard of the name brand freeze dried foods you mentioned - will be checking them out. Don't know why I never thought about using rosemary in my ferments. I am sending you an email.
Hooser Farm also has heavy cream. I use it as a thickener for yogurt and other recipes. Now just need powdered vanilla for home made coffee creamer.☕
I think I have seen that before but have not tried it. I may have to do that soon!

I clicked on your link, and sure enough, it is NON GMO and ORGANIC ... WHOLE... milk. ??? All the research I have done says we can NOT dehydrate whole milk because of the fat.

I have bought quite a few organic products from them, including strawberries, bananas, corn, and more
@@RainCountryHomestead Thank you! Appreciate all you do.
I ordered mother earth products early this morning from information you provided
Thank you Valerie!
Amen sister
I am going to be trying it out via the subscribe and save but that means I will not get it until the end of the month:

Rain Country no problem. I love the content of your chanel and the research you put into everything. I never mean to come across judgemental but I'm not great at written conversation. Sorry I sounded rude.
In researching the powdered milk I had to go to the questions section to find out about the possible allergy issue. It's frustrating when the companies don't offer all the information on their products. The government requires it on food labels but Amazon does not have the same requirements.
I did not think you were one bit rude Melissa, I sure appreciate you taking the time to share all that, I often do not think about allergies because I do no have any so it is something I do not look for. I need to start thinking about that more for the sake of those that need that information.
very cute basket :)
Question 2: Please link to your fermenting starters...and do the eggs stay on the counter to ferment? Do they need to be water bathed to be kept.
I have several videos, this one is the longest because I try to cover all questions I get asked: ua-cam.com/video/gY6MaXCLSC8/v-deo.html
You do not can fermented foods, the fermenting preserves them. They are best if kept in some sort of cold storage though such as the fridge or a root cellar if you have one
Rug cleaning, can you use baking soda with your vinager to help lift out stains and dirt ?
Yes, but I find the best combination for cleaning spots on a rug is baking soda and peroxide but it can bleach it out too so you have to be careful

Mushroom cloud!! Lmao 🤣
I just placed my first order! Thank you! Do you use oxygen absorbers in your jars before you seal them?
Thank you Kathy! No, I do not bother with the oxygen absorbers, as long as the jars hold their seal, there is no problem as all the oxygen gets removed in the vacuum packing.

Either way, I find repackaging them in glass to be the best option. When I open a container of powdered milk, I try to use it as much as possible in whatever, including baking.

Hi once I open sealed jar for Everytime use do I need to seal again? Thanks
Can you use the brake bleeder to dry seal tattler tops?
Tattler lids do not hold a seal near as well as metal when it comes to vacuum sealing so I recommend sticking to used metal lids for that
im totally confused about differences in tinctures, extracts and teas, and other ways of using herbs and stuff....when is a tincture more effective than an extract? etc....I think that is what always makes me scratch my head...probably just my thick skull...lol
I am still learning all this as I go along myself :D
try nido milk it is real milk and taste great
I will check it out, thanks :)
Do you use food grade storage buckets and if so what brand?
We have had all our buckets for years and got them from a friend, not sure what brand they are but I put my foods in Mylar or keep them in the original bag they came in before putting them in the buckets
Rain Country thanks for your quick response. Love all your videos. Very inspiring
