Danny, have you thought about making a few of those life size silhouettes painted a bright orange our whatever color and attaching several items hanging off of it to give the appearance of movement and sounds like wind chimes. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to describe. If not, I can draw it out and email it to you.
I actually made a scarecrow and hung old aluminum pie plates and a wind chimes from it's arms and it worked pretty well for us. I didn't even have rabbits eating my lettuces. No deer, rabbits or raccoons. I need to make a new one this year. I'm thinking of even getting the solar screech owl that lights up but I don't want to put too much $$ in it.

We just had an overnight snow. Probably around 6". We were being spoiled with unseasonably warm weather for January & February in Pennsylvania. Sometimes I make really high quality low tunnels and start planting in March. This year I can't get motivated for that and I'm just gonna wait for May and our last frost date. That is around May 10th. We have about a 50/50 chance of a rogue frost coming outta nowhere in late April, early May. I do live through the southern growers I'm subscribed to during our cold months lol. I guess there are some good, and some challenging things about where we have all ended up living.

Maybe setup a couple crops you KNOW the deer love to eat over on the side of the wood line in hopes they'll eat that, and leave the majority of your in the pasture field crop alone. Or, entice them on a different side of the property altogether.

That Cub has far more capability. You have the forward attachment for a fertilizer hopper. Add some hillers as your front cultivators and two rear sweeps and you can run 12-18” high rows. That rear middle buster comes in good at harvest.

Reference the wire worm problem. The Canadian agricultural department suggests buckwheat to help control them. What I have is to plant the buckwheat, let grow till it just starts to flower. Chop it up and till into the soil. It has also been suggested to use mustard as a cover crop. It also been suggested to plant potatoes following beans.
I never had a wire worm problem, until I tried one year of notill gardening. This past fall I tilled in many layers of leaves and then plowed the garden with a regular plow. I hope this along with the below zero weather this winter is going to help.

Add a pole (bamboo like) to each corner of the cattle panel that extends 2 feet higher place an empty bottle on top of the pole run your orange streamer from pole to pole. The wind will rattle the bottle and deer cannot judge the height. If needed add a pole every 4 feet. I use the green plastic coated poles.

Whew! I was wondering if the potatoes I put in would grow. They looked like yours; so there is hope!
. My rows are only five feet, but a little crop is better than none, right? I palanted some mustard greens above the rows to get an extra quick crop in the space and maybe keep nematodes away.
My peas are a few feet high. I started them last year. Waiting to see flowers. Again, I just have a five foot row. But I can get a few meals of fresh peas. The plants typically produce a month before mildew takes them out. I'm in Calif low desert, and we had a lot of rain the last few months, so I'm surprised how healthy they look.

The new ground will make you a great garden. The soil bacteria and fungi are at a very healthy level and this makes all the difference. That's been my experience. That spot should produce well for you. In a few years after regular cultivation and fertilizers the bacteria & fungi will be mostly dead. And it'll be time for a new spot. I wish there was some type of gardening process that grows better soil and doesn't deplete it.

I kick myself every day for letting my brother take my great uncles cub and all implements.

You don’t need a tractor with no till garden, just compost and mulch

Each person’s situation is different. Also the tractor was used all year around. The belly mower most of the year and the front blade for pushing snow and dirt to fix the lanes.

    Danny,
Gregor Mendel, the monk, the father of genetics, proved wrinkled seed, seed color, and other traits in English peas are “independently assorted”. He proved separate genes controlled those traits. You can not determine sweetness of peas from wrinkles or seed color. This is taught in all genetics 101 classes. Please don’t talk about things you don’t know anything about. Even though it appears to be a certain way, that is small sample effect and not true to genetics.

I've done this for over 30 years and tested it it has worked every time. I trust what I do not what others say is the truth.
