Thankful you had a harvest at all in this drought. We got 3/10 of an inch of rain last night here in Texas. That’s the first rain we’ve had in weeks and weeks. So very thankful. We have been 100+ degrees everyday for weeks. We will dig our sweet potatoes in the next few days. Praying we get some for the winter. Blessings to you and Wanda. ❤
It’s 10:00 P.M. here and 98 degrees. Thank the Lord, we got our first rain in 3 months last night. The water coming out of the hose is hot even after you run it for a few minutes. Sending thanks for your harvest from Central TX. May God continue to bless your efforts.
Hello Danny and Wanda. Looks like some happy cows 😀 In spite of the heat and dry ground your definitely getting some sweet potatoes 😀 It's definitely hot for the evening. It's like a fan blowing the hot air or like you said a hair dryer. Bless you both for all you do and share 💓
We put sweet potato slips in ground and in our raised bed. To see which would do better here for us. The raised bed had more but not even a 5 gallon bucket. The in ground maybe two handfuls. I'm not sure what happened with the raised bed cause it got water daily once it got real hot. I guess we will try again next year. Husband said we will not use any more of Bonnie plants. We had the worst luck this year ever. Only one zucchini off 6 plants! Thanks for sharing with us Danny and Wanda!
Danny and Wanda, thanks for sharing. Monday night at 9 pm, it was 90 degrees in maryland. I was wondering why the ac and the fan weren't doing much. This heat is no joke. Stay strong, stay thankful and just continue living for the Lord. God bless everyone
I enjoyed watching you on the tractor and talking about harvesting. My daddy use to have a 1 acre garden and I would love to go with him sometimes to ride on the tractor and help out. My daddy passed away 6 years ago and videos like this remind me how much I miss him.
I grew Yukon Gold, potatoes in buckets, following Hollis and Nancy’s instructions. Last time I got a nice harvest, but this year all I got were 50 tiny potatoes. I guess I will save them for seed potatoes, but these are even smaller than the seed potatoes I bought.
@@JNoMooreNumbers I planted six russet seed potatoes in ground, but didn’t expect much after what Danny said was going on in the ground. I got only 23 russets from those six. I have two more buckets and one very large pot of potatoes to harvest, all Yukon Gold. Hoping they did better.
Looking at that dry soil it amazes me the sweet potatoes you're pulling out of there. God's blessings for sure. It's 63 degrees here this morning. That heat that you guys are in would kill me. Our high is going to be 93 today we do get a wind, and the fields are all wet around here in Idaho. So it makes living conditions in the heat livable. God bless you guys have a very blessed day 🙏❤️🤗🐈🐾
Seriously wish if the heat would kill something it would be chamber bitters! I spent 3 hours yesterday morning ripping those out and still have 3 beds to go. It’s been so hot I haven’t been out weeding like normal this year and I work away from home all day so can’t get them in the mornings. We’ve had 2 30-45 minute thunderstorms in the past 2 days. Came out of nowhere, not even in our weather app until it was almost over. Very thankful for that rain. 2 days predicted this week so we will see. Those sweet potatoes look great considering y’all had no rain. I’m sure we will all take and be thankful for what we harvest this year!
This morning in Louisville KY 63 degrees all my windows are up. Its supposed to get up 81or 82 degrees today. So far its been mild summer with temperatures over 90 only 7 or 8 times this year.
From N W Missouri -- had very HOT temperatures 97*-108* & HEAT index last 2 weeks at 105*-123* & plants dying (only a quick 10 minute rain shower for 3 days.) High humidity = "MISERABLE!!" Saturday morning (26th) had a really strong thunderstorm & brought in cool front. This last week of August is nice 80*-86* in day & 55*-65* at night (had to use light blanket) & no rain. Will get hot in 90*s again in September.
Got the hurricane coming in figure you might gets some rain. 1982, 83 we had a drought like that. Rain finally fell fall of 83. By the time the rain from the thunderstorm got down to us it was like a fine mist to start cause the air was so dry. But when the rain reached us the trees started to explode.
Great to see y’all are able tolerate the heat. But farm chores have to be done. No bad looking Taters. My part of the SW Louisiana is on fire.Small tornado supposedly came through and it knocked a tree across the road.Stay safe in that heat.
Thought of you all when I went to our state farmers market this weekend to get more green beans to supplement what we grew… they were 3.99$ per pound!!!😩. Central NC
Those bugs would drive me crazy . I have to shoot a couple times to see if they hush .lol unbelievable how dry y’all are . Glad you got as many as you did . We where blessed with almost a inch between today and yesterday. But with the hurricane coming we might be getting up to 3 more inches. Wish I could give it to y’all .
Your potatoes look great I absolutely love your tractor. God bless you for working in that heat. I also do not waste anything every bit of scraps go to my chickens.
Y'all are so blessed to harvest what you did with the weather y'all (and me/others in the deep south) have had this year! My harvest was so pitiful with MAYBE 15-20lbs total (almost a 5-gallon bucket). At least I will have potatoes to keep back for planting slips NEXT spring and a few to eat or can. Y'all need to save a few of the leaves/vines to feed your rabbits. THEY LOVE sweet potato vines/leaves. I had one of my Tamuks escape and I trapped it in a cage using JUST SWEET POTATO VINES/LEAVES on my 1st try! I don't have cows so they were in HEAVEN for a few days eating their fill of them. I also picked a few leaves to use in a stir fry and they were DELICIOUS. They have lots of vitamins/nutrients that could be beneficial for hard times. Also my scuppernongs ripened very early this year. A lot fell off the vines before ripening, even with watering. Almost every day, the leaves would wilt from the HEAT. I had major issues with my figs with the Freeze/frost in March this year. I lost several younger trees and my established trees had to be pruned severely to save them. They are just now producing figs and the FIG season is OVER! I don't understand all that is going on with my garden & fruit trees this year. Everything is off!! My okra is just now producing OKRA!! Most all okra is done for the year but mine are FINALLY making pods. This is my 2nd year of gardening with little to no harvest and I've been gardening for 30+ years. Most all my garden is planted in the cattle mineral tubs and are now in partial shade. Those are the only plants that produced SOMETHING and survived. The rest burned to a crisp from the heat/UV-Radiation Rays, not from underwatering or lack of nutrients. The only thing I had that has done well is my HOT peppers (Carolina Reaper & Jalapena's). I make a hot sauce/relish with those to give to people. They have produced all season and are still producing well. All of this has me scratching my head to figure out WHAT TO DO to have a producing garden. 2nd greenhouse/high tunnel combo will be built this fall to have a more protected growing environment and HOPE that may help me get SOMETHING to eat/preserve/ Can't wait to see more vid's of the harvests of your other sweet potatoes. Praying they will be as good or better than these that your harvested. I know y'all use a LOT of sweet potatoes every year so prayers you will reap a bountiful harvest with the others. Love from Bonnie in AL and PRAYERS FOR SOME MUCH NEEDED RAIN & RELIEF FROM THIS UNRELENTING HEAT!!!

Reminds of my granddaddy’s place. This was in the 1950’s He had an ALLIS CHALMERS tractor which was much bigger. To help with traction he put about 4-5 gallons of water (mixed with calcium to prevent freezing in winter) into the rear inner tubes. This helped with traction and helped the “tip-over” prone narrow front dual tire😊 It had a small, wide wheel that came out of the side, which ran various belt-driven accessories useful on his 100 acre farm.😊
We were fixing to harvest ours today. We had them on drip tape. I dug up one at the end of the row about a week ago and it was 3 pounds 5 ounces. YIKES. (Beauregard from HOSS).
