  • In this Episode Joe and Mike Menza present a 1961 Les Paul Custom, with an SG style guitar body and a beautiful Polaris White finish. This guitar is 100% original except for the areas where it was over-sprayed. In this video they show you how to determine if a vintage guitar was over-sprayed and what to look for. They discuss some of the people who played this Les Paul model in the 1960's and 70's and how this style of guitar became very popular over time.

Mike , from what i know the ebony block tail piece was fitted to customs and standard models in 1962 only and the les paul logos survived until somewhere into 1963. The original Vibrola was replaced with a Maestro unit also in 1963. I used to own a 1961 Standard cherry Les Paul/SG with a sideways Vibrato unit. Cheers!

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen an ebony block custom, looks so good! I wish all customs came with the Mickey Baker wiring or a better switching solution.

Kinda a stupid thing to say it's a waste of a pickup. There's a really specific reason why it was wired like that and a very specific effect it gives. Do better with removing bias from your showcases and seek out the whole story around things.
