Inside The Big Tent and "What Else Is Near Quartzsite?"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 січ 2021
- First, a tour of the Big Tent in Quartzsite, Arizona to see what goes on inside, then we take a look at what else is in the Quartzsite vicinity. We camped near Bouse which is about 25 miles to the northeast and show you what it's like in that area. Patton's WW2 tank tracks are evident there because that's where the our soldiers trained in the use of a new secret weapon, the CDL, or "Canal Defense Light", better known as the "Gizmo" by our troops. We show you places to camp and what is available in Bouse for your convenience. Coyotes invade our camp looking for a quick meal and we seek refuge from the high winds that blew while we were there.

Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If your into being off-grid and boondocking whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations. Come on along, we're happy to have your company!

I always enjoy your down to earth, common-sense attitude.
Thanks Dan.
I have watched tons of videos from Quartzite/desert area and never heard that story about Patton. That’s why your channel is so awesome.
Wow, thank you Midway! I first saw the tracks while Linda and I were doing some exploring around there so I asked in town who had been running bulldozers all over the desert. That's how I learned about it. You might enjoy these photos: www.deserttrainingcenter.com/9tharmored.html
You must be some of the most down to earth people on UA-cam. Thank you.
Thanks for being with us Dana.
Thanks for the tip of staying just outside Quartzite. That sounds just right for us also.
We don't mind camping in either area, but the Bouse side seems a little more relaxed. By the way, I've learned that you can do your laundry at two different RV parks there in Bouse.
The City of Quartzsite didn't like people camping inside the town and not paying to stay in the 2-3 motels there, so a long time ago they extended the city limits 10 miles out all around so campers HAVE to stay out of town on BLM land or at one of the RV parks in town that charges waaaay too much.
good stuff,,, cheers on the coffee,,, You & Linda be well out there!
Thank you kindly John!
Glad to see you two back on. I am like you, I would always go the unbeaten path if I could. You two make me want to get out and go camping so bad. Good video, you two take care and stay safe.
You should! Thanks for tuning in W R.
Loved the ice cream machine!
Afternoon tea is best for me
Nothing wrong with tea, I like that too as long as it has some caffeine in it.
I lost you all over a year ago, I got a premonition that I would find you and today I did, so glad to see your video
Hello Thomas! A lot of folks somehow got unsubscribed and lost us. Please subscribe (it's free) and click on the notification bell so that you'll know when we post a video.
My wife and I are retired and in our 70's. We are not campers but we love watching others living/traveling around our beautiful country. We especially love the great Southwest. We live in Tennessee and have driven as far as California. We also love Montana and Wyoming. We love your videos. The content is always interesting and you do a great job with the camera. Looking forward to traveling with you and Linda in the future. Stay safe.
Thank you James! We're glad that you enjoy our videos.
I thought about ya’ll when Texas experienced winter storm Uri in February. Texans are not wired for that kind of weather! I stayed in my RV until the power went out-that was my cue to leave. Stayed in a hotel for the worst of the storm but I had already winterized my RV so no broken pipes but the heaters I placed underneath my RV helped only until the power went out. Next purchase will be a generator, for obvious reasons! Catching up on the great videos I missed during our thaw- going to be almost 80 degrees today! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!
80 degrees sounds so nice! Good thing you had your winterizing done ahead of time.
I am Blessed to have found you! When I was about 6 years old my family of 5 bought a new VW bus which we gutted and built a camper..The VW went coast to coast, to Mexico at least twice and from England to Sicily. While on its 2nd engine the doors rusted so we cut out the middle and welded the VW back together and at age 16, the 18 " wheelbase was the scariest ride I ever drove...now in my 60s and still love to travel.
Nice memories Susan! We've had a few VW busses ourselves and toured the western U.S. and Mexico. Young hippies. Your travel sounds way more fun!
I’ve always kept my pets on leash even out in the mountains, and keep them to our camp ! Not running around leaving their mess in others camps , and I cleaned up after them !
Something I do on my cargo trailer/camper conversion is use small solar powered motion sensor lights on the outside of each side. I have sticky-back rare earth magnets about the size of quarters stuck to the trailer above the windows and on the back of the lights too. I just stick the lights on when I'm parked, bring them in before I leave. Works great!
That sounds like a good idea, thanks!
My husband and i enjoy your videos.
Thank you both Daphne.
Those coyotes are looking for scraps, I love them, they are real opportunist. They wont hurt you. Three of them yelping sounds like 10. Great job.
I myself don't fear them, but they do like to dine on the neighborhood pets if given the opportunity. Saw coyotes twice in neighborhoods this past month in two different places. I always like to hear them.
love your videos, great info and clean content.
Thanks for the tour,
Always fun to watch
I find you guys to be knowledgable, friendly, and most pleasant to view. You share so many tips, and techniques to help others improve upon the camping experience. It would be a pleasure to join you for coffee some day.
That certainly would be nice. If you see us please don't be shy about coming over and introducing yourself.
Good information, thanks.
Thanks guys, that was fun. God bless & stay safe.
Love your new intro? Nice band. Beautiful wood burning. Thanks for sharing. Get home and enjoy those grandkids
We made it back and it's freezing cold. Had the two little ones over for ice cream today so it's worth it.
I like your ramblings. I learn a lot.
Excellent observation, thanks again.
Beautiful.
Love the engraver. Here in New England we have people who do wood carvings with axes at the fairs and festivals. Really cool.
Some people have an amazing talent.
I enjoy your videos, and they are very educational as well. Thanks to Both of You....

Glad to see you guys again , always informative , been pretty nice here in Mt. , unusually warm but I like it , beats 3ft of snow !
Hi Darell! Yeah, it's been a really mild winter here, especially after such a snowy fall. A good day is any day that I don't have to get out the snowblower.
Just found you guys. Really enjoy watching your videos, commentary and the little details you give.
Welcome aboard Michelle!
As usual I love your videos. I wish I was right there with you.
Thanks Donald, I hope you get the chance yourself.

Nice video. Thank you. Hope you have a safe journey back home.
We ended up leaving AZ just in time to miss the snow and ice storm that they got. We're back home safe now and planning our next trip, which is coming up soon I hope. Thanks for watching Nick.
Love your videos and always look forward to your suggestions 😊
Thanks so much Victoria! 😊
Great informative video and I agree with you and Linda about the quieter more scenic and less congested areas being more my style 🤗
We like people, but prefer camping in solitude most of the time.
Thanks for the video!
You bet!
Comment. Really like your adventures after a long day at the office. Lord willing, I hope to be out there soon. Blessings and be safe, from a nurses' perspective. No Covid allowed.
Thank you Linda, I hope you get out sooner rather than later!
We are looking forward to seeing all that.
If you are back in April or May we may meet up
I always look forward to seeing your videos. I wish you and Linda a safe trip back home. Stay warm this coming February.
As we crossed the state line coming back into Montana, the temperature dropped to minus 4F. That's ok, we're planning the next trip!
Love you guys! 💜
Thank you Carla!
Thanks for the walk along !!! So many knives to buy always!!!! I like to walk and see and seldom buy anything. Take care guys!!! 👍🍺
You really can't have too many nice knives and I'm glad that Linda shares that knowledge.
Always informative. Thanks.
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
I’ve never been to Quartzite. Maybe someday? Thanks for the tour.
Another great vlog - thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Ken!
Very cool. I remember you telling me about those tank tracks!
Thanks for watching Nate!
Great video. Their always good to me. Loved where you camped.
Thank you Rebecca!
I always enjoy your videos because they're so informative. This one was great!
Thanks Fat Ray!
You make a good team, enjoying your videos.
Glad you like them!
Thank you.
Love Quartzsite! And loved that show! Seems salesmen are everywhere! Lol! Really enjoyed that wood buring/carving tool
That artist showed me the tool in detail and how he makes the tip from razor blades. He sharpens it every few minutes so he can carve and burn at the same time.
Love your channel. You show us very interesting places to camp but also how and build things and fix the rig. Great stuff. Even bought a few items after watching your reviews. Bluetti AC50S is a nice little unit.
Thank you for watching and nice comment, Dan. We sure like our Bluetti too.
Thanks for another informative video.
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Enjoy your videos tremendously
Thank you R B!
Boise also has a library, propane, at least two laundromats, a shower at one of the rv parks for $5 and it's nice and clean. Water, gas, food, ample space and view out over the valley make it a great place. Only downside is the cell reception isn't perfect but it works.
Not Boise. Bouse!
I figured that's what you meant. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for the info.
You bet!
I truly enjoy your videos Keep Up the great videos 😊😊😊
We'll do our best John!
Thanks for the video Rick. Awesome place to camp. I do want to see the tank tracks in the desert one of these days (:
We'll try to meet you down there. Also, we'll probably be back to your neighborhood this year because last year we were forced out by the smoke.
Another great video Gonagain, and very envious of your trip down south, now prepare for a shock back home, winter is here at least north of the border.
We hit minus 4F coming over Monida Pass. Nice welcome home!
We very recently subscribed to your channel and have been enjoying it very much. We’ve been binge watching your videos. We are both 71 years old and have been married 36 years and both retired seven years ago. We have similar lifestyles as you and Linda. Mike & Kathy from New Mexico.
Hello Mike and Kathy! I just turned 71 myself but Linda is still a baby at 69. We've been married 47 years, having met in my hippie days. I was traveling and she was working hard to support herself at the time, but somehow I convinced her to marry me. God is good.
Enjoy your videos very entertaining and informative
I appreciate that!
Thanks, that's a lot of good info.
Glad it was helpful!
Just going back and watching some videos of yall i might have missed lol great job as always and hello from wy.......
