I'm the guy that's cutting the raw bodies and tops of mahogany and maple in this film and doing moisture checks in quality control work that is so cool.😁✌
Wheres all of Gibson's lawyers at in the video
Why do the SG supreme decide to go with 2 piece back instead of 1? Just had 1 and boy it's a work of art, translucent wine red, action is fabulous
It would have showed a little humility if the CEO had addressed the quality control issues that came before his hire.
My favorite body style is the junior, and who doesn't love a set of p90, creamy and warm.
I recently played this SG JR that had been beat to hell & had to have seen ever smoke filled bar in America. It was all stock & my buddy paid very little for it due to the condition. Structurally it was fine. And that tone, with it's p90, was something to behold. It was one of the best electrics I've personally played & Im on the prowl for one now. I'm also considering one of the new LP JR's as there are some pretty good deals out there right now. I'm just looking for something older, worn in & used.
Aw man, couldn't have used another word than _creamy_ ?
@@PaulMauser when you find that perfect p90 its the feel to me thats whats makes them creamy. Not just sound. Most p90s are snappy but u find the right set yu will feel. What im talkin about
@@JO-bz4kc can't beat good ol' P-90 pussy... warm and creamy every time
Gotta Love the Juniors, versatile as hell and so simplistic its beautiful
A most interesting series. Will there be a "meet the builders?" type of segments, where builders, painters, pickup winders etc. Can share their thoughts on the process?
More episodes to follow!
I will see this factory in Nashville before I die, I’m such a die hard gibson fan. Never could afford one and I always bug the dudes at the guitar store playing every Les Paul, firebird, ES, SG you name it and I picked it up and one day I will own one, these guitars age so beautifully their crafting is one of a kind and the artists who make these instruments come alive are a gift
Well done on showing the naysayers that youre building Gibson USA from start to finish in the USA. We can see it here, with our own eyes. Comapnies like ESP can learn from this... Cheers, Gibson! 🍻
I’ve bought three Gibson’s the last three years. Cherry burst SG standard, Pelham blue HP Firebird, and a ‘70’s reissue white Flying V two weeks ago. All quality built, all play great. Couldn’t be happier. Thank you Gibson.
Lot of YT videos show how to solve broken neck problems. Why do you ignore this method?
4:52 sounds exactly like how i sound when i talk to my boss explaining what i did this week when all i did was slack off
Great to see how my guitar was made
Jason j dont check their vibe pls
Great background music. Are all you guitars 100% from Forest Stewardship Council certified wood? I can't see anything recent online.
That would be a "NO".
Gibson was all my Grandpa would play, he was born in 1919, he's gone now.
You're not just making and selling a guitar when you make one, you're selling a dream that goes along with it. Their dream, whatever it may be.
Gibsons for me have been hit or miss. But when they hit they hit hard! I took a tour of the Memphis factory before it closed and was very surprised to see how much manual labor was involved in such an automated process in this day and age.
"Yeah pin routers are like dangerous and stuff... Unlike the bandsaw which is pretty safe"
I love the title of the video series “The Process”.. maybe they can show the process where the tuners are installed crooked and where the nuts are not cut properly..I got a new 60’s Les Paul and that’s why I got. New CEO, same shitty QC.
dont forget the stupid 'break angle' on the Les Paul Headstock. Responsible for so many fractured necks and destroyed guitars.
My 2019 Les Paul 60's is perfect. My 2018 Gibson Explorer is perfect.
@@makkdiver design feature that most customers want. Don't like it don't buy a Gibson.
@@thephotoyak Easy fix, use a scarf joint. Design feature stays, headstock stays on the neck.
@@evenkeel6131 then it's not a one piece neck = lost buyers. Most Gibson buyers want a traditional style Les Paul. I'm not giving you my opinion on scarf joints, just saying Gibson will lose buyers if they stay from the vintage formula. They have tried it, people didn't like it.
I wish it would give also a real inside look of the custom and Murphy lab work.
Too bad the customer service hasn't improved.
They were going to show him, but he was asleep in a broom closet.
I use to be a FAN of the Gibson brand until I was PRICED OUT of the Fan club =/
my 1st REAL bass guitar was a 65 EBO' it was stolen and I have missed it = to get the same feeling I now use a BcRich Warlock bass
Gibson’s are cheaper now than they’ve ever been. If you want a good guitar, guess what, it’s costs money
its cheaper to buy used
@@pissonguitarcenter8204 duh
Buying a car is the same.
Got to meet Jim Decola in passing today, nice guy. I've got a million questions, like when will the Custom Lite models be available on the web site. Love the video and love working at Gibson. Jack @ Whitewwod
I've never played a Gibson that felt worth the money. There are better guitars for a fraction of the cost available from multiple brands. You don't need to spend $6000 on Gibson's shoddy quality control.
You are an asshole. You don't need to spend 6 grand on a Gibson. you can get a great Gibson for $1,200 - $1,500.
Nice to see how they make this total garbage.🖖🏼
You are a troll. No doubt about it.
I love this. Man...I've got GAS for a CNC machine now.
Freaking hilarious
Dear Gibson, please revive a Vegas model! It was a great looking guitar. And it would be great to have it with mini humbuckers🤘
Love these videos in my opinion these are the type of vids your true Gibson fans want to see.Thank you for this and please make more vids like these, they will bring a positve message to your company.
Could not have said it better!
@@SixSixthSix Thanks 31313
Thanks for watching! More episodes to come.
It would also help if you didn't have to sell a kidney or lung to own 1
Is the G string in tune 😂??? Happy new year to Gibson and any other brand...
i like my g string a lil loose anyway...
It must have something with "G spot " defenitly 🤗😄
Ain't that the truth. I've had all kinds of Les Pauls through the 80's and got rid of everyone of them because of the G string problem. I went to PRS single cuts and have been well pleased. Used to love Gibson.
@@tbone9347 I've literally never had this problem. Even down on my LPJ Pro model.
@@wiseguy9202 dunno man
Dear gibson please improve your quality control on your guitars finish,
Concerned future customer
TYPING IN ALL CAPS FOR A REASON. WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE UPLOAD SCHEDULE? THERE’S A WALL OF GIBSON CONTENT IN MY FEED N IM LIKE: SKIIIIIIIIP. PARSE IT OUT! FAAAAAACK
Either a 61 SG Maestro or 60’s Les Paul Iced Tea…boy I’d love one!!
I do anything to work there but I’m not in Nashville, I’m moving to Florida 😂
Why don't I see Mark Agnisi anymore... I miss that guy. So leathery... so Italian.
I'd love to know how the bevels and contours of the SG are made. They vary so much from year to year and model to model.
It's done via 25 degree scarf cutter. The SG61 is different programming so one will find it noticeable.
These videos are addictive. They're really making me want to buy a Gibson.
That's the aim
Gibson’s are awesome besides for the 2015 models
Co-produced by Mark Agnesi... It's good to see he's OK.
Mark is such a cool guy. I really look up to that man.
I sometimes wonder with as many as they pump out on a daily basis, and considering Gibsons are not cheap, are there really that many people buying these guitars for them to be making as many as they do? And then I remember that I just bought 3 brand new Gibsons in the last 2 years.
Oh dear the like /dislike is disabled , someone must not be confident in its content .
I just put a like to it
This is seriously cool. I am a strat guy, but I really want to get my hands on a vintage cherry ES-335 with pearloid inlays in the coming couple years.
Those guitars are amazing for blues.
How to apply here hahah. It's fun to make guitars
I recently bought a 2021 1964 Custom Shop SG Standard ... 6 pounds, 9 oz. Plays great. Beautiful. What a fab axe ...
According to Mark there will be 15 of these episodes. Really great for folks to experience this process and truly understand it. Gibson is headed in the right direction to provide quality instruments at a affordable price.
affordable?!??!
I wanna be there someday, it's my dream!, and guess, will be buy my first new one Gibson Les Paul! oh God! someday!
Considering getting one (acoustic), though there are numerous comments on forums about acoustic series quality issues last years . Will check in shops )
I just received a 2019 Gibson Classic Les Paul Heritage Cherry Sunburst for my 50th birthday and I was blown away by the quality and playability Right out of the box. I also bought a Standard in 2006 and it's like night and day between them both. Bravo Gibson😃🎸
비싸도 합리적으로 비싸야 납득이 가는데 이건 터무니 없이 비싸. 인건비 세계탑에서 만드니 비쌀수밖에. 미제라고 딱히 좋던 시절도 아니고..
Wait what? I thought Gibsons were NOT bookmatched? My 2020 Slash Les Paul is absolutely not bookmatched.... Someone explain?>
Does anyone know if the Gibson Les Paul standard 50s is a single or double Mahogany back? Thanks.
Solid bodies no less than a 2a grade I know I'm the one who is cutting the wood and grading the bodies and tops in this video.
Mark, you’re doing a killer job! Thanks for opening the shop for virtual tours. Cheers!
Where do you get your wood?
Peru? Brazil?
I dont know if thats „handbuild“. Like they tell us in ads.
Love this Ralph Vaughn guy. THAT is an American!
He's literally a close friend of mine I'm the one in the tank top cutting the mahogany and maple bodies and tops😁
Can we see a documentary on how bodies are destroyed by Front End Loaders?
Man I Love Gibson Guitars ..
Nice! We have the Flying V, SG and Les Paul in our arsenal!
10% moisture? No wonder Gibson has so many issues with finished. PS there is no such thing as “too dry” when you’re talking about machining and joining hardwood. 8% is OK, 6% is better.
So obsessed with brand legacy Caesar goes around suing other companies but STILL can't build a Les Paul that stays in tune. Many companies build Les Paul COPIES that do stay in tune.
So cool!
I just imagine that my guitar, I have in my hand right now, was probably made by one of these dudes!
THANK YOU!!!
After the last Gibson I bought, a LP modern I don't believe I will ever buy another Gibson. The quality control was terrible. The fret ends was so bad I had to work them down before I could even play it. I own over 30 guitars and these frets was about the worst I've come across. Including $200 guitars. This is very disappointing when you pay thousands for what's supposed to be a premium guitar maker.
Gibson buys wood from a local company where i live at. Pretty cool company family owned and operated.
I'd love to own a Les Paul but at this point in my life it doesn't seem like it is or would matter and i wouldn't benefit from spending the money on a logo..
I'm going to just keep on playing with my PRS 408 10 TOP...
Crazy about my Les Paul...Les Pauls...
Yeah, you're paying for the name, but once *they* settle into *you*,
You can tune them while playing, hit the toggle switch between riffs, and if she's--yes she--gets man handled by some other galoot you can yell at him with good reason. "Get your
*d I c k b e a t e r s* off of my honey there!"
This is so fascinating to see, my First electric guitar that I bought when I was 17 was a gold top Les Paul 50s standard as birthday present to myself.
after reading all of the comments, it's clear that 50% of the world thinks Gibsons are the greatest thing in the world, and the other 50% would take a dump on the Nashville factory's front doorstep if given the chance.
Me, I love my SG. And my Epiphones, Martins and my strat. To each their own.
I just bought a Les Paul 50s standard. Waiting for it to arrive. My first real Les Paul. I have a feeling that it won’t be my last!!
well over 100,000 guitars made per year, manly cut by machines and yet prices are realistically unrealistic. buying the name adds $1000 (give or take) to the guitar. not many companies have that power, second hand it'll have to be
Yo can you guys please use nicely bookmatched tops on your Les Paul Standards for which you charge in excess of $2500? Can't believe some of the hideous mismatched tops I've seen at that price point. I'd say 1 out of every 10 I see are even acceptable.
Gibson: who can we sue today? and lose AGAIN! shame on you Gibson Kiesel guitars are 200 times better than your removable snap off headstocks.
Pin-routers, a thing of the past. Big concern for the worker. Safety first. Then shortly after, cut to a guy using a pin-router, while wearing gloves and holding a marker …
They really do make incredible guitars. I love my 2015 /16 Traditional Pro iii.
If I look all over my guitar very carefully with a head lamp & magnifying gladss, i see some very minimal drips in the nitrocellulose. That’s part of what makes my axe one of a kind. It would take 2 minutes to buff those out but I love those drips. Those perfectly imperfect things.
It is a AA flame top, vintage sunburst. If I shine a very intense light on black outer paint, it has the most mesmerizing deep purple color that pops.
The AA flame pattern is very lively, lots of holographic/ iridescent movement when you move the guitar around. It has many stripes. It’s more like an AAA- or an AA+
Locking tuners. Very sensitive pickups, 10 db booster, push push nobs for making the humbuckers single coil. You can create so many tones!
Keep on doing what you do Gibson , …. I see a few more Instruments in my future
Would be hilarious if the whole guitar background track was done on a plexiglass guitar.
Just picked up a new bourbon burst 60's Standard and it's absolutely fantabulous! I currently have '96 Hawk(black), '13 LPJ Pro(desert burst), '17 Faded T(faded cherry), '06 Explorer(natural) w/gold hardware and now, a 60's Standard.
The cheap Nasheville bridges though.
@@SDPickups Not really sure what that means as I've never had a problem with any of my ABR6's. Nor do I have any issues with the wrap around tailpieces beidges etc. The only bridges I'm not a fan of are Floyd Roses.
Guys I absolutely love seeing how these are made but the music is too much. It hurts me to say it because the tone is incredible.
Sorry it's too distracting to watch
I sure love my Les Pauls 😵😍 Bring back the ES-Les Pauls! 🤩
I’ve got 2 58 reissue custom shops and absolutely love them. They’re covered in flaws, cracked binding on the neck, paint overspray etc but I still wouldn’t swap them as nothing really sounds like a Gibson!
Seeing that employee stick his entire torso under the hydraulic press made me nervous lol
I think the young kids nowadays doesn’t think guitars are a cool thing to them.
Gibson, every time I get on a channel no matter what the channel is I always say Gibson is number one please send me a Gibson Les Paul
Thank you all these lovely hard working workers
8 quarters which is 2”
but my 8 quarters which is a 2 dollars 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
I feel betrayed by Gibson for leaving Kalamazoo before I was even born, but damn is this cool.
Doesn't make that dream guitar you spent thousands on seem very special does it?
They make guitars like a sausage factory..... where's all that wood coming from?
My pants
Trees I guess...
Why i dont see a 9holes or chambered or modern weigh relief on all their body??? Come on gibson what else di u hiding??
Crap
Amazing job ! Amazing guitars, period.
That was a fascinating short documentary, I enjoyed that.
As an owner of a Gibson Les Paul (I only play rhythm guitar), I have to say they are the ultimate rock guitar, Gibson Les Pauls have that fat, ballsy, meaty sound, especially when they are plugged into a Marshall.
The biggest mystery is the correlation between weight relief and weight.
Very cool
Do Gibson employees get a discount on the products?
Hi guys, would anyone know to tell me what type and model of paint they use to pass on the guitar. IS IT TYPE A FOLDER THAT PASSES IN THE GUITAR SOMEONE KNOWS THE NAME ??
I'm interested in seeing the neck building process, specifically how they make those detachable headstocks that Gibson are famous for 😏
You are an asshole
Lmao!!
Biggest wood shop ever...slick!
2:42 please correct me if I'm wrong but that does not look like a good book match of the top with that horrible circular grains on the upper left side of the top. Should have been thrown away or possibly sold heavily discounted.
This is often referred to as a "dirty" top, and can produce a very nice look once finished.
@@joshuabenoit3744 Ah right, personally I wouldn't get one if I saw this but it's more than great if it's actually a look some people want : )
>>implying Gibson reject stuff
That’ll get a heavy tobacco burst or something very dark around the border. Lower quality tops become solid colors, gold tops, etc.
@@EdwardT9 Good strategy but often the wood shines through enough to be a bit annoying. But probably very difficult to have the “right” quality when producing quitars in such production line method.
Fukn love Gibson Guitars !
Gibson really needs to honor James Hetfield with a Gibson Signature model!! He's only played Gibsons for 30+ years. Really Gibson, Henry is gone, so work with James Hetfield and get it done PLEASE!
I have been loving Gibson guitar long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the video you should have made to begin with. This might redeem credibility after the threatening “play authentic” video. This is a positive video and I came away with a better attitude about Gibson.
Still, it raises questions . If they have been making guitars this way for years, why all the complaints about quality? Why the “Make Gibson Great Again “ campaign? Were the complaints exaggerated? What has changed? Just asking honest questions here. Not an attempt to be an a-hole.
Quality video and great job choosing Nick Perri to play the music. I think he is just as excited about Gibson as Mark Agnesi is.
Id make a faded tv yellow junior 1pickup with a red tourtis pickguard
Cliche
it's a shame they went to two piece backs. all throughout the 90's and 2000's the standards were all one piece
It's getting harder and harder to find tropical lumber of that dimension.
Legend português please!
I will never spend my hard earned money on a Gibson les paul when I can get an even better copy for way less.
Looking at this makes me think "My Gibson has been there, maybe hold by that exact person". So cool!
