    Very informative John. I read my manual like 100 times and could not figure out how to manually ground balance. I watch your video and you had me manually ground balancing in 30 seconds. I hope you do a metal detecting 202 intermediant series as well

    Thank you for a clear, concise explanation of Ground Balancing. It has been sort of a mystery to me and I have been detecting since 1978. Your explanation of "pushing" or "pulling" sound into the ground is a very easy mnemonic to remember! THANKS AGAIN!

    I am a newbie and your few lessons on this,seperation,recovery speed etc answered so many things I wanted to know-just saw your lactone on leaving metal detecting I am so sorry you are a great teacher that knows what you are talking about-I am 78 yrs old ,always wanted a metal detector from when digging in my yard 65 yrs ago in the bronx ny I found 2 Indian head pennies,[I think they were 1902] but I never had the extra money to spend on toys for my self-so I worked 2 jobs most of my life managed to save enough to buy 96 acres in the Catskills 30 yrs ago and retired at 69 yrs old I decided now or never-I ended up getting 8 stents after feeling pain in my shoulders climbing the mountains last yr-worked good for me. take care of yourself and thanks for the lessons. I think one day I will have to replace a valve in my heart but now they do it like the stents-no opening your chest up.

    Thank you for this. I was wondering what ground balancing was and if I really needed to spend extra to get a metal detector with automatic ground balancing. I don't mind doing this manually to save some money though. Thanks again!

      And that will be good enough for 95% of the "experts" out there. If you have a quick grab option...use it!

    I have a Dr Otek and assume GB is automatic. When powering on should the coil be on the ground or in the air.

    Dear TheHunterGT If we run the detector at neutral {automatic ground balance}, will we get a false signal. Thanks

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  3 роки тому +1

      In theory...no. Setting the proper ground balance is always the superior way.

    Yep and try not to balance over metal right .? really good explanation of how that works but I' still don't get it lol I never knew why we gb other than to shut the chatter up . Is there any other benefit ?

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  5 років тому +1

      Yeah for sure balance over a clean spot. As far as the other benefits...better depth...better ID...less false signals...smoother performance. Going a bit positive or negative will increase some of those attributes - while decreasing others. It will be up to your soil conditions and detector to find the perfect combo...or just run it neutral like most do.

    Very nice. What about the threshold? That's something that I don't understand

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  5 років тому +3

      That will be a separate video entirely. The threshold buzz is the audio signal used for balancing...however...it will need it's own video to explain it.

    What are the advantages of ground balance , great vid, more depth ?

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  4 роки тому

      More depth - less chatter - better ID on fringe targets. Thanks for watching!

    • @MrRanDomUk
      @MrRanDomUk 4 роки тому

      TheHunterGT strange as I’m running 2.77 on simplex plus. Now if I leave ground balance at 90.0 I can run fully open. But if I ground balance I have to drop 1 bar on sensitivity to make the machine stable enough to use.
