- Tool - The Pot - FIRST TIME REACTION
Now this is how to kickstart your weekend. Nothing but pure unadulterated energy, attitude and heavy hitting instruments. What didn't this song have?! My ears weren't helped by a computer glitch though. They are still ringing now!! Massive thumbs up for Tool.
I do not own the rights to the music or video
Original video/content link: • TOOL - The Pot (Audio)
Tool Army incoming 🌀🌀🌀
Please keep going! There will be no regrets. You've got the ear for Tool.
Haha I welcome the armies arrival! Definitely happy to explore more of these!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions you will not regret any song you listen to
@@MusicForTheSoulReactionswe recommend audio only, with lyrics if you choose. Stay away from the videos. As amazing as they are, they will certainly distract from the experience.
Enjoy the journey. Spiral out 🌀🌀🌀
Love that the army always assembles to welcome new recruits haha #TOOLArmy
You just opened up Pandora's Box.
Tool Army loves seeing a new recruit!
Loving the arrival of the Tool army! Happy to be a new cadet!
😂 you just accidently discovered the greatest band of all time. 🐚 Keep Going
Hahaha lucky me 🎉. Seems like these guys have one hell of a fandom too!
Word!
I discovered Tool several years back, during the pandemic, when I did my deep dive into music I didn’t know. This was the second song I heard of theirs. I was blown away by the polyrhythms , the quality of the musicianship and the lyrics. It’s pretty intense music, so I listen to Tool in small doses ( not gonna sit down and listen to an album ) but I was surprised at myself that in my 70s, I was listening to, and enjoying, prog metal. You GO girl! 😂. ( My friends think I’m nuts).
Haha you're friends don't know what their missing. Well done you for giving something new a go, and finding something to explore outside your normal stuff! I can see how small doses can be a necessity!
My dream is to sing this karaoke.
@@karlsjunior466 YIKES.....youre either REALLY good or REALLY crazy!
@helenespaulding7562 crazy I think.
More Tool, song selection doesn't matter, they're all top shelf.
Glad to know I cant go wrong which ever way I turn!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions There's some intermission songs on the albums (still worth checking out but ... they ARE intermissions)
AND there is a surefire way to get angry (tool has some dickhead fans as well, like any fandom) or disappointed comments: Some songs are broken up in several parts and some of those REALLY need to be listened to together.
Lost Keys & Rosetta Stoned , Wings for Marie & 10.000 days, and MOST IMPORTANTLY Parabol & Parabola (make sure to have no pause between Parabol & Parabola!!!!, they transition into each other amazingly and there WILL be disappointment if you get a youtube ad or whatever between the two songs)
Please give us lots of Tool reactions, we are starving! If you liked the scream at the end of The Pot, listen to The Grudge! Listen to all of their songs. I'll be here for it, promise.
Tool Army arriving! 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🔥🔥
Haha love it!!!
@ keep it up! ❤️💥
TOOL ARMY ASSEMBLE!!!!! 🌀
🤣. Nerd comment incoming....I'm picturing the rohirim army arriving over the hills in lord of the rings 🤣🤦♂️. Love it
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Yes, this is what is happening on a digital scale haha
Another deep rabbit hole. We members of the Tool army are going to be your loyal subscribers if you go deeper in.
I will definitely be exploring more as I go along. Appreciate the guidance from those who have walked this path before me!
Every Tool song is a masterpiece . You won’t find a bad one . Best band ever to walk this earth
Love knowing that which ever way I turn with Tool I'm in for a banger!
This
Tool is a cheat code for new watchers. Tool army!
Haha didn't know I had activated such a hack 🤣
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Looks like you got some Metallica and Rush. I think you know exactly what you are doing.
When it comes time to listen to Pneuma, watch the drum cam version.
Appreciate the advice 👍
4 of the greatest musicians to have lived, welcome to the Tool army
Tool doesn't shy away from taking on difficult subjects with an unflinching gaze. "Sober" is, in my opinion, particularly good. Great reaction Steve!
Cool, I'll pop that on the list as, the pot was the only song recommendation I had for this band 👍.
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions In that case, here are some more banger recommendations: The entire 1st full albumn Undertow, Vicarious from 10,0000 Days albumn, Forty six and 2 from Aenima album, The Grudge from Lateralus. Tool Army will follow you the more Tool is played. Rhythms you have never experienced before.🤘
More TOOL!! You’ll love them! This is one of my most favorite TOOL reactions ever! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for the kind feedback, definitely more Tool on the way!!
Check out "46 & 2".❤❤
Another soldier in the Tool Army, reporting for duty. Love the energy man. Keep rocking!
Appreciate that. Happy to join the ranks with you guys!
Love to see people hear Tool for the first time. Loved seeing your reaction! Keep doing them, we’ll come with you.
Thank you for joining me on my Tool journey! I can feel its going to be a good one!
Tool - my favorite band. Impossible to be put into one genre. Keep it going!
All these recommendations for older tool songs on here are great, but I feel that their latest album from 2019 has some of their best songs.
Check out Tool - Invincible.
The double bass magic from their drummer is insane.
Double bass 🤯🤯🤯 how is that even a thing!! Super intrigued!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions he uses 2 bass drums, one 20" and a 24".
One video most people will recommend is his drum cam video for the song Pneuma.

Welcome to an amazing journey. Settle in. Spiral out.
Love the sound of that!
Here for TOOL🔧Greatest band ever! Not a single bad song🤘
You're done for, you're looking in the rabbit hole, and you can't help it. The Tool journey is one of the most amazing musical experiences on this planet.
Hahaha the Tool hole has a bigger gravitational pull than a black hole!! No escape
Tool Army checking in.... If you are looking for an impressive scream from them, I suggest the song called The Grudge. One of the longest screams for sure, and I have seen them do it live many many times.
I'm sold!!!!
🤘Welcome to the amazing journey that is TOOL!
Thank you, I just know its going to be epic!
Tool soldier checking in
Welcome, soldier
Definitely my favorite tool song. Heard it a million times and every time it comes on I just think to myself “there’s no way a human being created this”
Haha that's a great comment!
Tool has so many amazing songs. Check out 46 and 2, Eulogy, the Grudge, Right in Two. Plus a lot more lol. And dont miss the live drum cam of Pneuma- their drummer Danny Carey is mind-blowing.
🌀
Loving the drums so far, so yes, more please!
This is just their first song you have reacted to. Keep going….spiral out!! You’ll know when get there 😉
Sounds intriguing!!!
Tool should always be listened to at max volume
Tool army is here 💪
Just getting started lol. Soon every new Tool song you hear will be your new favorite.
Love the idea of this!!!
4:43 Subscription added on that comment alone. I’m from the states, I have grown up with this band, we are The Tool Army. Watched many a reaction to this song over the years; never heard this song described as spot on as “this is some gnarliness, this.” Well spoken.😂 I am high, and laughing hysterically. Cheers.
Bass Porn needs to be in a t shirt and hoodie for sale on your channel btw
Haha glad you love the video, thank you for subscribing! This song blew me away! Can't wait for more of these guys! Might have to do a weekly visit to keep my Tool fix going! Loving the amassing Tool army! I'm picturing channel reinforcements coming over the hill on their horses 🤣
Well thank you for helping create the first clothing idea (I've been swirling around ideas for ages with no clue where to go)! You Sir, are a legend!
Legit reaction, hahaha. I felt the same way when i heard this for the first time, brother!!!!
Haha this was intense alright 🤣. Cheers for the comment
3 musicians at the top of their game...Maynard writing lyrics and delivering the vocals...they're really an amazing band/experience.
Can't wait to hear more!
46 & 2 and Sober are probably good next steps in your Tool journey.
Excellent, cheers
Baby steps before the really complex songs.
At 60 years of age, Maynard can still hit those notes live in concert. Seen them 30+ times (first time in 1996) and have never been let down. Best live band.
30+ times 🤯🤯🤯🤯, do you still have any hearing left?! 🤣
The journey starts.
Tool all time favorite and yes Tool is another name for your unit.
Haha is that why they chose the name?! 🤔
Vicarious and The Grudge would be a couple of bangers to check out soon. Tool has so many amazing songs. You're in for one helluva ride!
Cool! I think I'm going to have to visit tool on a weekly basis just for a nice energy jolt throughout throughout week!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Great, once a week would be perfect!
Tool is a tool for self development. An implement to expand your mind and being.
Love this!
Really enjoyed your reaction! Thank you! They have been around since the 90's and their sound have evolved over time and is quite a treat.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I look forward to experiencing their evolution
Yea, you’re hooked! 💨🥦🌀😎
Love the descriptive reaction! New sub cheers from Austin Tx!
Appreciate the nice feedback, welcome aboard the channel! Always wanted to visit Texas! Seems a cool place!
Welcome to the greatest band in the history of music. In my opinion. They have a relatively small discography for having been around for over 30 years, but every single bloody track of theirs is a unique musical experience. Hope you check out more.
Well I certainly will be doing off of such a glowing reference of their work by you!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions lateralus next
Loved tour reaction! Tool army is here to experience, vicariously, your first experiences with our favorite band. It might be worth doing songs by album starting with the first song and going one by one. Some songs are meant to be listened to together, I'm sure the comments will let you know.
I see what you did there
Hey, appreciate you coming along for my journey with tool. It would be great if tool fans could tell me as I go which songs belong together so as I don't do those ones wrong!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions
Some tracks that you should consider listening to in one sitting;
> Parabol / Parabola
> Wings for Marie pt 1 and 2
> Disposition / Reflection / Triad
> Lipan Conjuring / Lost Keys / Rosetta Stoned
Perhaps not essential, but these also go together great (either musically or thematically);
- Intension / Right in Two
- Mantra / Schism
- Eon Blue Apocalypse / the Patient
Welcome to The Tool Army. 😀👍🏻
Happy to join the ranks
The guitarist Adam Jones uses a dropped D tuning on most of their songs so the "Dirty Bass" part in the middle of the song that you commented on was Adam on guitar and Bassist Justin Chancellor was using a Bass Whammy pitch shifting pedal to create that delicious squirly pitch-shifty feedbacking goodness.
Ahhh gotcha. Not a clue about pitch alteration equipment etc...but I am a super fan of the effects they deliver that's for sure! More of that please Tool
Another extremely brilliant group of musicians that I personally never was able to get very deep into. There are a few tunes (including this) that I enjoy, but I tend to like my hard and heavy to be a bit more . . . cheery, I guess.
To each his own. cheery definitely has its place!
Me either, it’s weird how some bands just fail to catch you even though they are similar to bands that you do like. Love Dream Theater and Porcupine tree but struggle with Tool. Love Jon Anderson’s high voice but i struggle to cope with Geddy Lee?? people huh!
Man I don't watch all of your reactions, but every one that I do, I come away enjoying the hell out of it, and having so much more respect for you, musically. Just awesome. I hope you try 46 and 2, or Schism next. But, any song by them, is amazing. So pick anything people suggest. Great reaction.
Edit: just noticed you did one of those! I will be watching it next.
Amazing comment to recieve. Thank you! Hope you enjoy 46 & 2!!
8:48 - What's even better is that groove is from the guitar. Justin Chancellor (bassist) is doing the wailing solos over the top of it. There's basically one rule with Tool - they do it all with their instruments, no synths, no backing tracks. How they get it done, that's its own rabbit hole.
Wow, you've just 🤯 with that info!
🌀Tool...yes🌀Spiral Out
Cheers🤘
Tool is the GOAT
I’m excited to announce that my like was number 420 for “The Pot”!
Thank you very much
if you know whats good for you, the answer to everything is ‘Yes dear’
🤣🤣🤣 💯
That's the band that I always hear about. I heard a few songs by them, always great to listen, but never heard a whole album. Great. I'm ready to be open to it
Cool. They seem to be a very popular band! There must be a valid reason for it, so I shall do my due diligence and dig into them to find out!!!
⚒T⚙⚙L⚒ YES!! Please!!!!!! And thank you!!!!!!!!
Love your spelling of tool 👏
Thank you. 😃
This is Tool 101 New sub to watch the journey down the rabbit hole
Appreciate that. I look forward to the journey!
MORE TOOOOL!!! YOU GOTTA CHECK OUT THE GRUDGE!!! AWESOME REACTION!!!!
I think Grudge has been suggested a few times. I'll see what I can do!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions27 second scream on it
Tool, YES!!! You want to hear a scream, listen to ‘Given Up’ by Linkin Park
Fuckin' great reaction ! Welcome to the next dimension of heavy music.(We accept you, one of us....)
Cool! Happy to be inducted into the Tool Army!!!
Watching someone experience Tool for the first time is fucking magical. I wish someone filmed me in 93 when I heard them for the first time. 🤘🤘
93' wow, you must be some super fan all these years later. Hope you can help my Tool journey as I go along!
Great reaction! Try 46&2 or Vicarious next. You can never go wrong with Tool.
Love your reaction. Please do vicarious! Many will also say 46 & 2 and the live version of sober. Oh and also Pneuma, the drum cam video.
Seems like I have a lot to cover with this band. Love it
It was decades before I stopped not listening seriously to anything apart from LZ Genesis , PF or KC , Tool kinda reinvented prog metal which got me curious again Tool a very deep rabbit hole but worth it , led me to porcupine tree who I adore . Your reaction v enjoyable and your analysis very insightful . Much thanks. Btw as a child and adolescent psychiatrist I use scream therapy a lot
So many bands have revealed the depth of prog for me! Glad you enjoyed this one. Love the idea of scream therapy!!! The singer of Tool would be amazing at it!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Ian Gillian ( deep purple) would have been my inspiration . Scream therapy is really good for presenting self harm , I make playlists with my patients to scream along with
Love Porcupine Tree ….shall we get Steve to listen to Anesthetize?
@ he has , recently , arriving somewhere not here my choice or trains or all of deadwing
@@gerryrafferty7500 I kinda thought that, but then second-guessed myself because it’s really quite remarkable that a “newbie” to classic rock, like Steve, would have EVER heard any Porcupine Tree.
Trying to get other reactors to try them out is like pulling teeth. 🙄.
This is IMO Tool's most digestible song so a great starting point. 46+2 is a great song for the list and Pneuma DRUM CAM is an experience in itself. Danny Carey a.k.a. The Octopus is at another level of drumming.
With a nickname like octopus my mind is already imagining this dudes drum skill!
Ohh man, if you were down for Porcupine Tree, you will love Tool. Their songs are deeply layered indeed and they don’t have a bad one.
One of the things I like most about them is how they seamlessly seem to merge this primal sound with thought provoking lyrics and always create something unique, almost their own genre, whilst still being very recognizable as Tool
Some songs I’d recommend checking out next would be 46 and 2, Schism or the Grudge.
Lateralus, 7empest or Pushit if you want to go on a journey
Thanks for the informative comment. I'm definitely going to watch some more of these guys, using lyrics as a fee people have told me about their deep meanings etc and don't want to miss anything!
Welcome!
Thank you! Loving the Tool army!
"New Band Saturday"
Recommendations for bands you may or may not know of.
Soen "Orison"
Riverside "Behind the Eyelids" or "Panic Room" (if you want some bass)
Klone (no, not the rap band. Klone from France).
"Rocket Smoke"
I do love the idea of a new band themed day I must admit! Appreciate the extra suggestions 👍
New one on me Steve Great bass line and drums 👍
Glad you've witnessed like me, something new. The bass and drums kicked ass here for me!
@ spot on mate
Spiral Out!
Great stuff man, loved your reaction! I would recommend 46 & 2 or The grudge. But any Tool will do too! :P and after listening to few Tool songs I would say you gotta watch Danny Carey drum cam of Pneuma, its awesome! (but listen to album version of Pneuma first)
Cool, I'd say keep reminding me about the drum cam thing as that sounds awesome, but as you said, only once explored more of their catalogue
I always enjoy people discovering Tool. If you like screaming, check The Grudge. If you like the dirty bass, check Schism. If you like the weird time signature, check Lateralus. If you like the barking guitar, check 7empest. But before that, do yourself a favor and listen to Sober
Loving all the requests! Appreciate it
Well you wanted energy.
….
Tool delivers.
You like this, you’ll love Ænema.
Just done a video for another Tool song which I'll upload tomorrow, my god these guys pack a punch!!
@ will be back for more. Just know they have dozens of these kinds of songs.
And when your done with them, you’ll probably get people asking for A Perfect Circle 😉
Tool arm here. Supposedly, they're named Tool because their music is to be as a tool in your life
Ahhh makes a lot of sense!
Spiral out, keep going 🌀 🌀 🌀
I have every intention, Tool have caught me hook, line and sinker!
welcome to the greatest band of the last 30 years. Youve dipped your toe now time to dive into Pnuema, Schism, 46 and 2, and so many other sonic masterpieces. But this song is all about hypocrisy "you must have been high" as on your high horse, lemon juice in your eye... was away actors used to make themselves cry, so many amazing lyrics... Maynard is a genius, Danny is the octopus and Adam and Justin have this insane ability to swap duties when the bass plays lead and the guitar plays bass and vice versa... they are nothing short of musical deities.
Love the Danny being an octopus statement, just reacted to 46 & 2 and that guy does some insane drum work! Loving these guys so far. Thanks for the context on lyrics for the pot too!
Pneuma 🔥🔥🔥 live drum cam of Danny Carey 🐙🔥🐙🔥🐙 the studio version is a masterpiece as well
Cool, I'm sure I'll be checking it out one, hopefully in the not too distant future!
Great reaction bro, the only thing I'd say is you should definitely pull up the lyrics whenever reacting to Tool...
The power of T👁️👁️l's music is very much intoxicating, much like a drug, but for the brain instead of your vein lol
If you react to T👁️👁️L, they (Tool army) will come...
‼️Greatest band of all time ‼️
Thanks for the advice! Don't want to miss any deep meaning lyrics! Loving the idea of a tool army amassing!!
Also the lyrics always have a cover meaning, usually a red herring, and then two to five hidden deeper meanings. Entire poetry analysis classes could be taught using Tool lyrics. Sometimes they mean a thing to you for a while until you listen again while in a different mood or situation and then the other meanings will jump out and smack you.
Check out 46&2……..it’s amazing
Welcome to INTELLECTUAL Rock!!! Want to hear MJK "sream", check out The Grudge (first track on the MASTERPIECE album Lateralus)
I have the Grudge on the list, it's been a popular request, but then someone else said to build up to it so not sure what to do with that one!
@MusicForTheSoulReactions I was just referring to the one song. I definitely would go further as (and no offense, it's a conceptual album on the fibonacci sequence and you're probably not ready for that). Some great starters are: Sober, 46&2, Schism, and H.....NEVER do the videos until AFTER you've heard the song....unless you're on "shrooms"...just saying!!! If you APPRECIATE Great talent, check the drum cam video for Pneuma (Danny Carey is a BEAST/A.K.A. "The Octopus"
Beauty steve mate......new band Saturday....yeah...go for it....loveing your content....later dude
Cheers fella. Have a cracking day!
The name tool came about as they saw music as a wrench to pull out “stuff that was difficult”
Ahhh gotcha. Thanks for sharing that info
@MusicForTheSoulReactions That's one theory. Some people think that, because of their humorous side, it's named after a penis. Hahaha 😂😂😂
Honestly they’re pretty much a can’t miss band. There are “filler” tracks so if you blindly pick tracks watch out for those. I strongly suggest the song The Grudge for you. It has everything you seem to really like and in heavy doses.
Thanks, popped on the list....more of that bass please!
A few "filler" tracks do blend into the next, like "Intermission" into "jimmy". The calliope jams the same riff as the song and in a way is part of the experience, like an 11 year old having fun at a carnival becoming the 11 year old under a dead Ohio sky. These were from the era where the entire album would be played gapless. The other "filler" tracks are like palate cleansers, or mood stabilizers, or occasionally just comic relief. Other pairings are intended to be consumed as a gapless unit, like "Parabol/Parabola", "Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned", "Wings for Marie/10000 Days", and one trifecta of "Disposition/Reflection/Triad"
“What does the pot do?” It calls the kettle black.
🤣💯
The Grudge. .do their song The Grudge..you wsnt bass, drums and a scream to knock your socks off!! Don't hold grudges..they will destroy you!
Haha well that's certainly sold it to me!!
Wear The Grudge like a crown of negativity, calculate what we will or will not tolerate, desperate to control all and everything, unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen!
I've watched a lot of Tool music reactions, but yours, sir, may be the first one where I was concerned that you might be having an epileptic seizure with the rhythm!!! 😀 Spiral out, dude!
🤣🤣🤣🤣, are you saying, Sir, that I may have got a tad over excited with my movements?! 🤣
Welcome to the tool army my fellow northern monkey 🐒.
First band i saw post COVID at the manc arena.
Tool are just a phenomenal band , a band with a high IQ.
And i like how you acknowledged Maynard's scream at the end..
He does 20 second plus screams live for fun mate..
Its definitely a good place to start ar kid..
Should do schism next mate..
Be good mucker..
Yeah the crystal clear vocals as he screams just hits different! Cool you've seen them live, I bet that was mega! I think schism is on the list, amongst many others requested
A good next song would be Schism.
If you want to hear a scream. The Grudge by Tool
My Tool suggestion: start at the beginning.
If u enjoyed the scream, you will love The Grudge
Seems a popular choice! Look forward to it
I good idea with this band is to use lyric videos, because the lyrics are always pretty deep and require thought.
And NEVER EVER EVER watch an “official video” for your first listen. Their videos are animated and are incredibly “busy”, complex and bizarre. There’s no way to absorb the visuals AND the audio at the same time. The mind will always concentrate on the visuals. Just the way we’re wired.
Great advice, duly noted!
If you like that singy scream style, listen to Gojira - We Were Born for One Thing
Maynard is a guaranteed pr at the gym
I'm sold by that statement alone! 💪
Welcome...Although a little late you're most welcome. Just a little tip... Most of you though was guitar actually is Bass and vice versa...
That's me, always late to the party! Better late than never seems to be my motto 🤣. Sublime guitar work here!
May I humbly request The Grudge you will not regret it
Of course you can 🙂
🤘🏻🌀
What is this swirly logo I keep seeing from you Tool Army?!
The drummer, Danny Carey is the only real person in the band. The lead singer, guitarist, and bass guitarist are all puppets. Danny makes them play and sing by using his sweat, which is sentient, to manipulate them. For concerts he achieves this by first playing in a local NBA game to work up a sweat. Once he is warmed up a bit, he gets on the drums and puppets and puts on a hell of a show.
Well this comment officially goes down as the quirkiest one I've had to date. I love it, Brilliant stuff. Made me chuckle. Also, love the Dark Helmet photo for your username ID too
The pot calling the kettle black
That's the one 🤣
Subscribed for more Tool! Spiral out my friend!!
Haha, thanks for deciding to join me on the tool journey, there shall be more where that came from!
