Yeah, maybe. Although there are some that would also definitely argue that the current stadium's design (and facilities) has got rather tired and is simply not up there with the latest top-tier renovated or rebuilt grounds. I mean, there is certainly a trend for the 'bubble wrapped' style in the last 20 years or so as the apparent preferred solution to employ externally (Bayern, Real, Spurs, Schalke, etc.), and maybe that means it's time to find a new - or rediscovered old - style to go in a different direction yet again. I just like the idea of the capacity hitting - and maybe even exceeding - 90,000... and perhaps they can fix the roof from leaking whilst they are at it! @@michaelwalker7400
Even though there are a lot of memories and history, corridors are tiny, in the stadium its very cramped, roof leaks, rust everywhere, food courts need to be updated, rodent problems(other than the glazers)..... I'm afraid to start fresh option c with a twist take some of the iconic pieces to the new stadium like the Munich memorial, the front of east stand don't make it look like the bernabau style (Bed pan) have the pitch technology that spurs have underground, have an underground station for the greatest transport links.
The best choice is option C. Manchester needs a new stadium with the best facilities. We must leave the past behind and think about the future. We should not drown in the memories of the past.
No!! Old Trafford is too good a stadium to knock down. You can't build a new stadium and keep the same character Old Trafford has. It needs to be refurbished, developed and improved gradually.
Man Utd's Old Trafford stadium that a bit of TLC won't cure. All it needs is the Upgrade of the Sir Bobby Charlton's Stand with a 2nd tier to complete the original design & the removal of the 3rd tier of the Sir Alex Ferguson's Stand & replaced by TV Screens for all 4 corners. We also want a levelled retractable new Roof + modern refurbishment of the rest of the stadium to warrant a 90K capacity in comfort. SBCS 25K + SAFS 25K + SES 20K + ES 20K = 90K. Take Note: The expansion should not exceed the rail track. Old Trafford known as 'The Theatre of Dreams' unique in style is the Super Bowl of stadiums & is potentially The best Stadium in the country, possibly the world. Please Share!
At present The Old Trafford Stadium is still incomplete & needs to be completed first before you can sort out the roof. This Stadium has a lot of potential & can be one of the best Stadium in Europe with an original design cos it has authentic look & character with the potential capacity of at least 90K, all it needs is a complete refurbishment & some TLC. Talk Note: The Stadium Expansion should Not Exceed the rail way line. Manchester United's Old Trafford is 'The Super Bowl' of stadiums is known as The Theatre of Dreams is unique & a Colossal of a Stadium.
I agree the Stadium should not be moved. But that doesn't mean you can't add new infrastructure. Building over the railway is not difficult by building a bridge over the railway (this is where the gov could help financially). Also expanding all the stands would renew all the old materials of the stadium (a lot of materials could be reused/repurposed as well, help lower the costs. I think we should aim for 100,000 capacity. We need to take our rightful place as being the biggest and best stadium in UK. Or go one further and beat the capacity of "Camp nou" but not at the expense of a loud, penetrating noise (we need to keep that). If we see what others have done or doing eg, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City & Tottenham. we really need to compete with that so that we can also generate more revenue streams by hosting other events. We are one of a few teams that have a lot of land so using state of the art (expensive equipment might not be necessary. What I mean is like Real Madrid and Tottenham's stadiums they've turned their stadiums into multi purpose (which costs a lot more in engineering, etc). I think we should re-build our stadium and also built a 2nd multi-purpose stadium turning our land into an entertainment park, which includes green spaces, a shopping centre, hotels, cinema, museum, entertainment events, other sports events (ice hockey, basketball, boxing, cycling, etc). We would be much more financially better off in the long run if we were to do this and the costs wouldn't be as much as our rivals. We just need to have ambition and a plan for the future.
Option A is the south stand (SBC) expansion with a tunnel for the train lines. Option B is a new roof with a small capacity south Stand. Option A+B is a high capacity south stand with a tunnel and a roof but it looks too close the houses (2.26 - 2.44). Option C is like Spurs, build a new stadium on existing land close by. SAF and most fans want 100,000 seats (and standing areas). My question: what percentage the "match day receipts" is of United's total earnings?
It's probably less costly for United to build a brand new stadium than to totally revamp the current stadium. Old Trafford is apparently needing major work on the whole structure, especially the roof. To do that amount of work on a whole stadium, they would need to play elsewhere in the meantime, like Real Madrid and Barcelona had to and having to. So where would they play? There isn't a viable option to do that. They have enough ground in that area to build a new stadium whilst still playing at old Trafford, it also removes the problem with the railway and the homes at the back of it too, option a&b would have to be a case of getting those home owners to agree on selling up to the club because of right of light issues. I honestly think the Glaziers have no intention of either redeveloping the current stadium or building a new one, they will probably only sell up once it is at a point where it seriously has to be done either way, or they would of probably done something already.
I'd say expanding and upgrading makes the most sense and is probably the most likely and viable option however Option C the total rebuild would be good A) because they'll be able to continue playing in the current Old Trafford until the new stadium is completed and B) there'll be the added bonus of having the Academy facilities built on the site of the current stadium.
For the sake of those people living on the other side of the railway do not expand the original stadium not into the silver bowl looking stadium its horrendous
I love the idea of creating concepts for the new build but all of these look soulless and unimaginative. Manchester was a hotbed of the industrial revolution and with some creative and leftfield thinking that historical context could be brought into the design. Nods to the red bricks of the past, steel girders etc, but in a modern, refreshing way. Red brick can be hinted at with an almost Anthony Gormley style rustic vibe etc.
While this additional option looks epic and I love the railway tunnel, I’m imagining the south stands reflective appearance cooking the residents behind from sunlight
Beautiful video thank you for posting it on UA-cam. I hope from my heart that the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe decide to expansion Old Trafford on the South Stand. The cost is apparently £800 million but in return we will have a wonderful old Trafford expansion It would be an honor that Old Trafford has 88,000 to 90,000 spectators.
If we’re going to refurb it’s going to take more than just raising the south stand to the same height as the others. For a start as that’s the most problematic due to the train line then we need to future proof it and make it our biggest stand. Part of the reason why I now think a new stadium on the land next to OT is the best option.
We want an Expansion to approx 90K capacity, Modern refurbishment & a New Levelled Retractable Roof! There's an completed stadium design on WHF!@UtdWesleyy with a comment stating: So apparently we are looking at an expansion of Old Trafford. It’s been talked about for years but put off because of the complications around the south section of the stadium but if we do manage to do it… 2 Tier SBC Capacity: 88,000+ We're sure that can be achieved with minimal fuss by observation cos its already laid out going by our walk around the stadium experience. Take Note: The stadium Should Not Exceed the rail way track! Worth a view, please share!
I love Old Trafford but I think it’s time for a complete rebuild but please make it a football stadium, high steeping stands close to the pitch this should ensure the atmosphere will not be too affected.
The stadium needs to be rebuilt i.e. option 3, although not with that design. I just don’t see a way we can upgrade OT and make it a stadium fit for the 21st century. We are bounded by the railway on one side, and a canal on the other. Trying to do the job within that footprint would be a compromise, and Utd should compromise, we need a world class stadium, not a half baked job.
Option C addresses all the issues in one; infrastructure, amenities, capacity, fan experience, and forward planning...the other options solve some but not all
Great video, however 'New Old Trafford' reminds me of one of Spinal Tap's earlier band names in 'The New Originals', changed from 'The Originals' as it clashed with another band using the same name who called themselves that first...
It would never look like the picture suggests, but a new stadium is key to improving match day experience and leading the way for future success on and off the field (IMO) The best Players want to play in the best stadiums, with the best facilities available.
One factor never mentioned when looking at rebuilding OT is the fact so few kids seem to be in attendance on a matchday, so first of all a stadium that can comfortably hold in excess of 90.000 is essential which would give more opportunity for kids to attend. Secondly the seating in many parts particularly in lthe lower tiers means for many of us we find our knees right up against the back of the seat in front plus the old scoreboard end looks a bit of a mess with half and half situation. Thirdly the Sir Bobby Charlton stand seems out of place with the rest of the stadium. " Am I sitting in the new Main Road" I wonder, which was a bit of a hop scotch stadium. Some criticise the atmosphere in modern stadiums but atmosphere only became an issue i believe when we went all seater, so maybe the new 'Standing Seats' at the front could be the answer as everyone seems to stand up in the front tiers of every home game in the EAST and WEST stands. In light of these issues Option C could be the best way forward and redisgn the current stadium to hold just a few thousand the other non first team fixtures.
C is actually cheaper than A+B, I believe. I'd also rather they keep the original Old Trafford spot for a Mini Trafford instead of sliding it off to the right. But if it's all on the same site, I'll be happy with that.
The design is not settled on. I think they just want to show what the current design idea for football stadiums are. I would not want Old Trafford to look like the Bernabeau either.
Of course every fan would love to keep the stadium on its orginal footprint but unfortunately I don't think it's physically/financially possible. A state of the art multi-purpose stadium is the way forward. Also, stick a retractable roof on it while they are at it.
I`m for option B, but only if they call it New Trafford! It points to new possibilities for the future, building on the legacies of the past. Considering the recent troubles and problems, now is the time to move forward and onward...
For me it’s option a. We just need to keep the original man Utd stadium looks than change it to metallic metal outsides. And plus option a + b would make me feel weird if I lived in those houses.
Has to be A. Most modern stadiums would incorporate the all round natural light factor - I don't see the other options including this in their designs.
You just can’t replace Old Trafford. I know football and stadiums & technology is improving and more advanced. But that is a place where the club was born, where legends played, where memories were created, what the club is all about. Old Trafford IS Manchester United. If you destroy the stadium/build a new one your Killing A True part of Manchester United. Players, Mangers, Staff, Officials, Owners they all move on. Old Trafford is the only thing we have left and we should expand and build on what we have because there’s some things you just can’t replace and that structure is an icon of this football club. ❤️
Teams will seek out income anywhere they can. And unfortunately that means stadiums will have to repaired, which has been an ongoing theme with Old Trafford, or replaced. Putting off repairs for too long, like with the roof, means we're going to have to build that new stadium sooner rather than later.
I agree entirely , just upgrade old Trafford, ...there's so much history and great memories attached to this famously known ground,... if history is to go by , the new wembley was a mistake,....they should have incorporated the famous and iconic twin towers in the new build , but ditched the idea , a massive mistake in my opinion, the twin towers were WEMBLEY
Hey Bondibot I was wondering if you could make an updated version of future Irish stadiums because Dalymount Park shared stadium has been scrapped my local team Sligo rovers is now expanding their stadium they have already added new floodlights and other teams are also looking to upgrade btw great video
Very nice idea. Congrats. Though they will never get the permit to build on top of the railway, because the railway it is officially State owned land, which means, untouchable for the private sector.
This is not true. Many, many railway stations have private developments above them now and more are in the pipeline, particularly in London. It just needs legalities being agreed. Of more concern would be the proximity of the stand to the houses and very debatable whether the local authority would give permission.
@@robertwilson738 Yes, that's probably right but I don't think every situation is the same, one thing is approving for construction of apartments or a shopping centre and another is for just a stand of a football stadium, I still think it would be difficult to get that pass, but yes, not impossible.
@@mjsteier Ok but will United pay that? I don't want my tax money to be used for a new underground station just to allow United to construct a new stand...
Lol the comments are hilarious, options A, B & A+B would probably take decades to get done. All those home owners will sue, it will get tied up in courts for probably 10 years, before they could even begin the work, that’s if it would ever get a green light in the first place. In the meantime more and more money will be wasted, trying to patch up Old Trafford, until major works could start.
Old Trafford doesn't have the leg room in the seats. Need a new modern stadium with screens. I think the best one to copy would be Munichs stadium. Looks great
I think it would be much better to spend on building an entirely new stadium just next door to this spot.. this option would not only be super-expensive, but also the amount spent will have to be amortized out fully as an expense, on the same original property.. whereas building a new stadium can add a new property into the portfolio..
Option A should of been done 20 years ago. Option B & AB: No. The only option is a complete rebuild but the design needs to break the mould of how current stadiums are done.
If they already own the land the most obvious one would be a complete rebuild from scratch as they can still use the original stadium during construction, like Spurs did.
option c but keep part of old Old Trafford as a museum and don't build the new stadium to look like a bed pan - put a retractable roof on too, its Manchester!
I love Old Trafford but United have had two different teams of Architects, surveyors, builders and tradesmen in and every single one of them agree that everything from the electrics to building work, to piping in the building as well as its actual infrastructure is coming towards the end of its shelf life. The Glazer way would be to paper over the cracks and borrow £600m just to do up a stadium that in 20 years probably will need to be knocked down leaving a new owner or the city of Manchester to pay the bill. It is time for a new stadium. The good news is, the new stadium will be a literal stones throw away from Old Trafford. Games will still be able to be played at Old Trafford while the new stadium is being built meaning that United don't have to leave Old Trafford as works are being done. Old Trafford would be unusable if they went with option A or B. Manchester United used to be synonymous with Greatness, Innovation and Winning. Old Trafford as it currently stands in disarray and falling apart is a very apt metaphor for United as a club. We are holding onto the past, we aren't looking forward. The crumbling of Old Trafford is the Glazers ownership of the club. A new stadium, a new beginning under SJR. It signals a move into the future, a New Manchester United. One who leads from the front. Old Trafford will never be forgotten, the stadium will still be Old Trafford to everyone. If anything they should turn the old old Trafford into a smaller stadium and museum for The Under age teams, the womens teams and also bring Salford FC into the stadium. Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson believed in youth and how they will always be the future of Manchester United, what better way to remember them and pay homage to the Old Old Trafford than by having the young stars of the future continue to grace the hallowed grounds as well as a team that is owned by the Class of 92.
Period. We love our history, but the Club needs to move forward with time. I would go with what Camp Nou did, Option A + upgrades internally + new facilities around the stadium.
So i like the covered station as it is kinda cool, but modernise the current design so it is in keeping with old traffords long history and expand the seating to 90000 at least
Compulsory purchase of the houses adjacent to the railway line, then move railway to where the houses where and build new stand on the vacant land where the railway line once was.
I'm a big fan of St James Park roof. It let's a lot of light in and creates a vibrant atmosphere. I really hate the sloped down roofs which obstruct your views and just cover the place in darkness. As good as Tottenham's stadium is, it's still lacks soul. Old Trafford should be fixed but also preserved.
Can't say as I'm keen on all this Metal cladding or what ever it is. It's been done with Real Madrid. I suppose it's all preference, I do like how barca have done theirs. Hope they do something unique
Opions A & A+B are likely to be challenged by homeowners behind the South Stand because of the possible overshadowing ,overbearing and harmful effect on their residential amenities.
Probably cheaper to just buy houses the residents would accept to swap for those houses and subsequently knock them down, shift the railway line along there and then redevelop the stand. Might take a decent amount of negociation and legal agreements as well as permission from the local council, but would work out better in the long run.
@@gm2407 Buying the houses behind the south stand is definitely the best option to quel the typical NIMBYist tendency that might rise up by the residents. The issue as you rightly pointed out is negotiations ,conpensations and the council's approval which might take a long while to resolve.Pushing back any scheduled works for the expansion and refurbishment option if there are some holdouts. Apart from the above options in the video and the subsequent land purchases of the houses behind the south stand and rerouting the railway line. Why isn't there an option to demolish, expand and build 21st to 22nd century modern stands around the existing pitch? Something similar to what Barcelona are doing at the Nou Camp. That way we get to keep Old Trafold and history associated with the name. It won't be the same but some of the pedigree and legacy will be kept.
@@Walkable_Oasis5813 Personally I don't understand how United haven't bought all those houses on the quiet since they finished the last expansion in the mid 2000s. It is basic asset development that even the Glazers should have been able to do. Honestly surprised Ed Woodward didn't push for it, as easy money for a large stadium expansion and long term income from getting more people in the ground. You can't keep the pitch in the same place and dimensions to expand on the other long side because the canal is right next to that part of the stadium, there is no room. Old Trafford is wedged into the corner between the canal and the railway. Only the railway would be easier to move as you buy the houses, knock them down, build the adjusted line, close the old one and rip it out, then get on with the redevelopment. The canal would take more work and be harder to get agreements. Hence why Ratcliff just prefers to build it in a slightly different place adjacent to the ground. I think if they would do that then the ground should be scalled back and kept as a stadium for the Youth and Women's teams, with the new larger stadium next to it. Cost effectiveness wise I suspect the first proposal of exapand the SBC stand is the best option.

I'm fine with improving coverage for the fans, but they should at least try to make the stadium look as much like the current stadium as they can.
A+B expand + upgrade looks amazing 👌🏼
✌🏼💙🙏🏼👍🏼🏴
I hate those new modern bowl stadiums... I want the old trafford upgraded with new tech on the inside.
SBCS 25K +
SAFS 25K +
SES 20K +
ES 20K = 90K.
Take Note: The expansion should not exceed the rail track.
Old Trafford known as 'The Theatre of Dreams' unique in style is the Super Bowl of stadiums & is potentially The best Stadium in the country, possibly the world.

Absolutely love the railway integration concept to ensure that stand can be enlarged too. Should be "Old Trafford Presented By Ineos". 👍
I love that option A +B, it's the best
It looks like a hospital piss pan mate
A is best ..but I think practically we will have to accept C.
Option D: a cleaner old Trafford with a new stadium where the parking is so you can repurpose the old stadium
While this additional option looks epic and I love the railway tunnel, I’m imagining the south stands reflective appearance cooking the residents behind from sunlight
Sunlight isn't a problem in Manchester.
@@sammyb1651 😂. I forgot it’s grim oop there
I'd expect some type of protective covering if they went with that to keep from inadvertently cooking someone's roof.
Beautiful video thank you for posting it on UA-cam.
I hope from my heart that the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe decide to expansion Old Trafford on the South Stand.
The cost is apparently £800 million but in return we will have a wonderful old Trafford expansion
It would be an honor that Old Trafford has 88,000 to 90,000 spectators.
It’s been talked about for years but put off because of the complications around the south section of the stadium but if we do manage to do it… 2 Tier SBC Capacity: 88,000+
We're sure that can be achieved with minimal fuss by observation cos its already laid out going by our walk around the stadium experience.
Option C addresses all the issues in one; infrastructure, amenities, capacity, fan experience, and forward planning...the other options solve some but not all
Great video, however 'New Old Trafford' reminds me of one of Spinal Tap's earlier band names in 'The New Originals', changed from 'The Originals' as it clashed with another band using the same name who called themselves that first...
then the drummer exploded 😂
It would never look like the picture suggests, but a new stadium is key to improving match day experience and leading the way for future success on and off the field (IMO)
The best Players want to play in the best stadiums, with the best facilities available.
Video should stop at 1:00. Chrome dome exteriors should never be on football stadiums simple as that.
They could do a rebuild to honour the current exterior appearance?
Option A+B/C fantastic!...
option A + B absolutely class
Option A look very good, option B is an epic downgrade, A+B horrible, C very expensive.
C is actually cheaper than A+B, I believe. I'd also rather they keep the original Old Trafford spot for a Mini Trafford instead of sliding it off to the right. But if it's all on the same site, I'll be happy with that.
Expand option A. Make a tunnel for the train underneath. Close the Bobby Charlton stand for like 2 seasons whilst playing and it'll be done.
Well done mate 😮
The design is not settled on. I think they just want to show what the current design idea for football stadiums are. I would not want Old Trafford to look like the Bernabeau either.
@@michaelwalker7400Ojalá lo elijan bien! Es para muchos años!
Opción C el united es uno de los mejores club del mundo y merece un estadio de lo mejor del mundo.
Has to be A. Most modern stadiums would incorporate the all round natural light factor - I don't see the other options including this in their designs.
Shit.... At the moment stadium the Old Trafford is wana most wonderfull on the world and stunnig in England.
I agree entirely , just upgrade old Trafford, ...there's so much history and great memories attached to this famously known ground,... if history is to go by , the new wembley was a mistake,....they should have incorporated the famous and iconic twin towers in the new build , but ditched the idea , a massive mistake in my opinion, the twin towers were WEMBLEY
option A. industrial, working class, same feel but more symmetrical, love it

But will have leaking issues decades to come.
Hey Bondibot I was wondering if you could make an updated version of future Irish stadiums because Dalymount Park shared stadium has been scrapped my local team Sligo rovers is now expanding their stadium they have already added new floodlights and other teams are also looking to upgrade btw great video
In the future all stadiums will look about the same
Is there anywhere I can learn your creative process start to finish? I can use sketch up and enscape, but this is insane! So cool.
Move the train line deeper underground problem solved
Spurs were able to get some of this done, since the building could still interrupt train service in the area. United can get that done too.
I don't want my tax money to be used for a new underground station just to allow United to construct a new stand...
its got to be option a+b or option C but glazers will go with option A if anything at all
Lol the comments are hilarious, options A, B & A+B would probably take decades to get done.
Looks great
Very intriguing, interesting n exciting project for r Theatre of Dreams, tks for sharing 🎉
Option A for old trafford
Option A & C looks good
Option C. 100%
If they already own the land the most obvious one would be a complete rebuild from scratch as they can still use the original stadium during construction, like Spurs did.
Good work on the render 👍🏻
That's fantasy with the Glazier still around
bro defo option A+B
How about moving the train line ! Dig and have it under the ground and stand . Need to stay at the present location .
Expand south stand. And make it look like a castle. It will be the most unique stadium in the world.
Food for thought.
option c but keep part of old Old Trafford as a museum and don't build the new stadium to look like a bed pan - put a retractable roof on too, its Manchester!
surely keep the old pitch where it is instead of moving it in optioc c. Could be sold on that
I love Old Trafford but United have had two different teams of Architects, surveyors, builders and tradesmen in and every single one of them agree that everything from the electrics to building work, to piping in the building as well as its actual infrastructure is coming towards the end of its shelf life.
I don’t want Old Trafford to be a shiny metal box, cus that’s not Old Trafford anymore
Great look, and the train still gets to pass throught.. obivously option B but everything is step.
Old Trafford should be fixed but also preserved.
i go for option c coz it will come with modern day facilities like other modern stadiums , if not option A&B
If Manchester United decide to Expand and Upgrade will Manchester United keep the Sir Alex Fergersion Stand and Sir Bobby Charlton Stand?
The stadium look like cigarettes ashtray. 😂
Can't say as I'm keen on all this Metal cladding or what ever it is. It's been done with Real Madrid. I suppose it's all preference, I do like how barca have done theirs. Hope they do something unique
Option A, a more symmetrical option. I kind hate those metallic fronts.
A please. I like how old Trafford looks already.
When will the inside look be in the video?
Why did you delete the video of the Spanish stadiums, bro?
option A very nice, but C extraordinary
Looking good InshaAlloh 👍
It’s apt that it looks very much like an NHS hospital bed pan.
You can do a retrofit for laranjeiras stadium from Fluminense football Club?
i think yes for A, rail platform covered, and build up on the canal side,as like a big wedge,at the end of the day its down to cost and the greedy builders who get the contract, away good luck with the [ assumed ] plans.
Keep the station and spend that money in Jurgen Klopp.
