- What would a new Manchester United stadium look like or a redeveloped Old Trafford? In this video, Sam takes a look at some of the concept videos out there and generates some brand new concepts using AI technology so we can have a discussion amongst the community about our plans for a new or redeveloped Old Trafford.
What do you think should happen to Old Trafford when the time comes - redevelopment, renovation or a brand new rebuild? Any of these concepts that you like?

What do you think should happen to Old Trafford when the time comes - redevelopment, renovation or a brand new rebuild? Any of these concepts that you like?
Get Qatar if u want your dream old Trafford because u won't get the with glazers and sir jim own us plus we need a whole new ground and call it a new name for it to suit the present future that we are in right now. Plus we need a capacity of 105000 stadium to keep up with real Madrid and Barcelona
It has to be a new stadium….because Old Trafford is bounded on two sides, one by the canal and the other by the railway any redevelopment would be a compromise….and I’m fed up of compromise. A new stadium would allow us to build a secondary stadium that could be used by the women’s and under 21 teams. Old Trafford is really a 55,000 seater stadium with 75,000 seats crammed inside….it’s far too cramped by modern standards.
I would like to see a new stadium of 100,00. With a design that's like Yankee stadium in America. Something new but retains the heritage of the club.
@@rufdymond I’m torn because I think history/legacy gives off a feeling at a stadium that works in the home team’s favour. However, I’m nearly 6’4” and my knees did not do well being crammed into the seat backs in front of me at OT.
To liken it to cars, I would prefer a ‘resto-mod’ approach. New outside and inside, with as much of the original retained as possible.
@@nunger5054 - I feel exactly the same way, but have come to the conclusion that if it’s going to be done, then it should be done properly. 6”4’ wow I’m 6”2’ and I really struggle with the seating in OT. I’m getting on now, so don’t like standing……you’ve got an extra 2 inches of discomfort on me 😂
honestly the one at 2:25 is my fave, it keeps the spirit of old trafford, while modernising it
It's crap, looks like Boro's riverside stadium or a red version of the Madjeski. Souless
I'm absolutely with you. The other versions are just ugly
YYYYYEEESSSSS totally agree!!
All the concepts are ugly af
The rafters for me are United, cause it's the first thing you see as you're walking with thousands of people towards the game. That's when I start getting excited.
However, it doesn't just shout "Manchester United"; it _screams_ "Manchester United Stuck In The Past". It would be newer, yet look more ancient than the stadia of Man City, Spurs and Arsenal. If we're going to do it, let's do it right... going forward not backwards.
Get over yourself. The rafters are just there to hold up the stands as they were expanded in the 90s. A redevelopment would mean they are pointless. They look tacky. It’s time for a change
How do you get excited watching Utd 😖😖
@@streetnuggets_ All of them with roofs that don't leak. Face facts, the fake Old Trafford is a tip.
I think that we need a stadium fitting our mythos. The stadium should be intimating and hopefully around 100K capacity. The deep sided stadiums are ideal. A rebuild is needed. The railway is in the way.
However the stadium must be built with a new ownership. Glazers out!
You ever heard of cranes ? 🏗️
Sure, prepare the stadium for the Super League once Qatar has taken over Manchester. However, the away games might be a little costly and time consuming going to Rome, Dubai, Paris, Miami, Barcelona, Doha, Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, Riyadh, Buenos Aires etc. And you will be all proud buying and wearing MU-shirts while selling your club to the highest bidder.
There is no room for expansion. I’m all for rebuild, but that might mean 3 or 4 years away in another stadium. Where are we moving to? The cliff? 😂
@@steve13191 the only viable place would be the etihad
As a happy gooner, we’ve been there and done that, you’ll have a big rebuilding programme ahead of you, it’s a long painful road, new owners, new stadium, new players and possibly a new manager ! That painful transition took us 17 years from moving out of our beloved Highbury, to where we are with the Emirate’s stadium, manager and team today ! But good luck, it’ll be great to have the old rivalry back again, instead of those two financially doped false rivals that play in blue ( you know the ones)😆
Ownership first and start everything from scratch we need people who has love for this club then we know that new begging is coming, We love Man Uniide.
Mostly agree but not on the point of having people who love the club, they need to be the best at their job. I'm sure ex players love united but they are not the best.
A stadium with an area for supporters to pay on the day is a must for me
I used to turn up about 11am for a 3pm kick off with my 3 sons and pay to get in the family stand or The Stretford end before it was re developed and became season tickets only
It’s the best way to get younger people to go to matches , just turn up with your mates and enjoy the games
😂😂😂 pay on the day lol. Good luck. Maybe you should go support Stockport County.
Pay on the day is great idea but sadly most English fans are like this guy above & don't care about anything but $$$
I'm a Hajduk fan, we don't have $€$ but have atmosphere EPL teams can only dream of - our older fans used to admire English atmosphere but now we laugh at it because not msny real fans like you
Prawn sandwich anyone ?
They need a completely new training facility too. Ideally right next to the stadium.
But the area is so crowded and industrial.
Surely a retractable roof is a must in Manchester
I like the one that has flames around it at the bottom. It looks so cool
United needs a new stadium, that's the least the owners can give the always supportive fans.
Time for a new stadium!!
Has to be a new stadium in my opinion. The heart and souls of the club resides in the memories and hearts of the fans and not the bricks, mortar and leaking roof 😊 And if 25% of the club sold brings in £1.5BN it simply is not enough to do the job.
I know what you are saying about the white rafters but I actually think every design would look better and cleaner without them, if we are going to have a new stadium I would go for a very modern design that makes it stand out from the rest
Totally agree, they are beyond awful looking!
Every single modern design stadium looks the same. How would it stand out from the rest? xD Old Trafford DOES stand out from the rest. The modern designs are lifeless and corporate.
@@thebiglebrowski3695 there are ways to make it uniquely stand out without having to have those awful ugly rails on the roof..unattractive women stand out too but for all the wrong reasons..it's not the right reason to stand out from the rest mate!
@@endevourdaze Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The vast majority of fans love the iconic rafters. Out of curiosity, have you been to Old Trafford? I have been and it is mindblowing. Especially back before it was allowed to rot. It has an energy that other stadiums just don't have.
@@thebiglebrowski3695 OT currently stands out from the rest because it looks like it was built in the seventies! How can we aspire to be a major club in England, Europe, the World, when we have a stadium built from a Meccano set?
Personally I think they should pull down the second tier on the West and East stand and second tier Quadrants, and then rebuilt the stadium as a 3 tier to match the North stand all the way around, fixing and modernizing the stadium as they go (New train tunnel with Metro Link station too.) Then we could have the best stadium with 120,000 capacity and it still be called 'Old Trafford.' They could also build like 5000 apartments under the stands too to generate cash if they wanted to.
Love these kind of content , we want more please!!!
What you forget is that United own that land across the canal and can build a new stadium from scratch. All that land was surveyed 5 years ago.
New next door, 105,000 (largest in Europe) with a retractable roof. Keep certain design principles from the current ground including a mirror of the lower bowl then build on top!
Current OT downsized for the women and youth teams. 5* Hotels, luxury apartments and other amenities to transform the whole area! 🇶🇦
New camp nou is 105 000
Wow....its beautiful.... well done man utd.... glory glory man utd
It must rival Real Madrid or better, 100,000 capacity, retractable roof... It has to be the best in UK. Futuristic is the future.
they should a brand new one …. right beside old trafford…… means we can play while new state of art is being built….. then refurb old trafford and keep for academy, events, and woman’s football…. develop area around the grounds with entertainment areas and kids interactive venues….. make it a day event place…. more attractions and hotels with parking if possible ….. 105,000 capacity be the goal
Good to see u back in your old studios.. takes me back to when I first started watching your videos... Old timer of united people's TV here 😂
5:40 hands down. The best stadium. It feels like a war zone 🥶
I think just build a brand new stadium but on the roof have like the screens are on top with the roofing and have the capacity to 89.500 would be nice but all the stadiums did look really nice for United I do agree there
Aqui do Brasil torço por isso.
O Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea e outros precisam de estadios atualizados.
São lindos, clássicos e imponentes, porém precisa desta atualização.
This can only happen if Qatar get the club
The stadium where another stadium is being built next to old Trafford!!! Makes so much sense n it’s a great design
We could use Boltons ground if needed to be honest with it being just off the motorway people would probably be fine with that. I think the next stage of a United stadium needs a roof and should also have better public transport access with entertainment / pubs and children's play or sports facilities.
I agree with both your picks. I absolutely loved the simplicity of the first one and the other one feels like an acceptable modernisation of OT.
Note: I am a fan of City, Inter MIlan, and Barcelona.
The idea of redeveloping Old Trafford, as opposed to a new location, is sound. Redevelopment similar to what Real Madrid are doing to Bernabeu, and Barcelona to Camp Nou, is a good idea. Of the scenes you presented, 1, 3, and 5 are the best. Whichever one of those is largest is the way to go. All of those keep the old look fans are accustomed to, while also making it more modern. Good luck!
Bro, I love the new background. Sick 👍🏽
Good video, I think whatever stadium be it rebuilt or newly built on the site the capacity has to exceed 85,000 if not 90,000 fans and additional corporate facilities to drive the clubs earnings going forward will be insane compared to any other club, and you would be guaranteed to sell it out every home game so the addition revenue from the extra seating and hospitality and the addons from increased concessions and sales at the man united shop would put the club on a different planet from any other club in the EPL and most around the world
Plus i am sure they could push to get major events like the champions league final or the Europa and Conference league finals an maybe he world club championship etc which would only increase revenues further
I've supported United for 40 years we should knock it down rebuild it 150000 seat stadium get the waiting time for tickets down the bowl was good look
For me the most important factor is the capacity. United can sell out for lots of games and the capacity needs to increase to at least 90,000 and this would rule out some of those designs.
We need new owners first, then decide on the capacity required and only then can we look at designs for a new/revamped stadium.
120,000 and united would fill it
We're massive
@@kylebriffa7no your in a crisis hahaha
Who pays the money for stadium this clubs a JOKE!!! DREAM ON.
@@billymarsh648 you watching this video when you hate united and also replying to a seemingly insignificant comment proves my point right.
Apparently, the railway line (which is a vital arterial route into Manchester) means that OT would have to be closed during redevelopment of the SBC stand as the cranes for construction would have to be parked on the pitch.
There aren't many viable options for playing matches. The Ethiad is out of the question, as are the Liverpool stadia and Elland Road. Realistically United would be looking at either Huddersfield or Edgeley Park with massively reduced capacity. The losses in revenue would be staggering and the club simply cannot afford that under the current ownership.
An option might be to enclose the railway line but this would be a huge infrastructural project and very costly. Probably cheaper than closing OT for a season but probably still running to tens of millions and taking many months to complete before construction of the stand could start.
Under the current ownership, this isn't going to happen. Under different ownership, United could probably play at Stockport and absorb the financial hit.
Edgeley parks surely a no, got a capacity of 10,000. I'd agree with Huddersfield though but surely the obvious one would be Bolton Wanderers? 28,000 capacity and 20 mins up the M61.
Happy to be here
These are my favorite videos Sam. Wish we can get a better stadium. Biggest club in the world and we deserve the best
Nice work Sam....love the video
I think a ground share with city would be funny for a little while we can paint the inside of the etihad red. And watching city fans sit in there away end while watching us fill there ground would be funny aswell
Always a good watch Sam 👍👍👍
A full rebuild would be my choice with a retractable roof like Real's. I quite like the layout of Wembley but want the fans right along the pitch like it is currently. This is essential for atmosphere. A 100,000 seater is ideal and we would easily fill it every game. A blend of Real's, Wembley and the Allegiant(Las Vegas) would look amazing.
RM haven’t really built a new stadium. They’ve just put a new roof on it. It’s literally a football stadium with a shopping mall.
@@Stand663 Wtf just a roof and mall? Uuare Crazy my guy, Dumb mofo 😂😂
@@Stand663 Not really. The've refurbished all the stadium including a retractable pitch.
- No, he's right. I live in Madrid and I can vouch for that. They should have built a completely new stadium when they had the chance a few years back. The new Bernabeu is just a pig with lipstick....@@user-kt2kq1hw2g
see sapporo dome or state farm stadium (arizona) pitch is safe during concerts.
1:42 The railway track is not a problem, you can built around it (same as old Atletico Stadium with the road) or the city of Manchester should built a railway tunnel.
Love the old background Sam!! Reminds me of when first subbed
Meanwhile, Avram Glazer : "Tf is he talking about a new stadium...."😂
I like the 5th one, looks modern, it would need slightly wider seating and 100-110 thousand capacity with better facilities for half time beer!
if you are building a new stadium, might as well build one that break records and then some.
- largest capacity in europe i.e just better than fking madrid or manshitty
- Modern-futuristic, high-tech and future proof
- Intimidating outer look (red devils hell theme e.g. red accent lightings, steep stands), but also taking inspirational design elements from the current OT (white rafters, red bricks, stretford end, new SAF end etc)
- Retractable roof and pitch to host non- footballing events when there are no games, like concerts or ceremonies etc to create extra revenue stream.
Never demolish OT, refurbish and repurpose it for women and youth teams, primary heritage museum, concerts etc.
I like the stadium at 2:24 it's nice and feels like home ❤🔴🔴🔴
Or maybe Utd could temporarily move to Leigh Sports Village until the improvements or re-build is complete
8:28 is my favourite
Super perfect 🏟️
Only a QATAR FULL SALE will deliver this to the standards of the Santiago and the Spotify.
Awesome vid. Keep up the great work. Not wanting to be a killjoy, but not going to get excited about these concepts until the Glazers are gone.
I hope from my heart that one day the south stand of Old Trafford will be expanded.
It has been clear for a long time that the trains are a big problem, but I am convinced that if there is the will among the owners (Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe) to expand Old Trafford = South Stand, then there is a chance that it will happen.
Money is not the problem, the problem is once again the train yard
Sam, what are your thoughts on having a closed (retractable) roof and movable pitch (also retractable) for Old Trafford? It appears every stadium is moving in that direction as it creates new revenue streams by being able to host other events not related to football. It also creates new uses such as the hospitality suites at the New Bernabeu.
The truth is that the new Bernabeu will be impressive. There will be a before and after of that mythical stadium. I was in Madrid last week to see it and I have no words to describe it.
The gray one with the red lights outside... stunning 4th or 5th one...
Great show Sam. Speaking personally, I prefer the option of a brand new stadium, somewhere we can create new memories
Defo international break vibe about this video. Great stuff.
4minutes 35 stadium with the rafters from the 3rd concept would be a reality I think
People saying the white rafters have to stay are narrow-minded. They haven't always been a feature of Old Trafford. Stadia need to evolve and develop. You need a huge stadium with wow factor.
with the way they build stand these days the rail way track is not a problem
First we need to get the Glaziers out!
I like the first one too !!!! Simple and charismatique enough !!!
I was at OT sat for Brentford and Tottenham for the NFL on Sunday and the game day experience is night and day. Sightlines, digital signage and screens, concessions all better than OT. The kick in the balls is Joel Glazer is on the new stadium committee for the NFL so the likes of Buffalo, Jacksonville their new homes are signed off partly by him. But can’t see why OT needs renovating?
Not with you on the rafters Sam, they were innovative at the time but, like the Sydney Harbour bridge, you wouldn't do it again. A completely new concept O.T is needed
My favourite one is probably the same as yours. Just looks clean and smart while still keeping the essence off Old Trafford
I'd like to see the possibility of a section of the outside being able to project huge images and video, how cool would that be
The symmetrical design you finally plumped on is quite in keeping with United’s original vision.l used to go a few times in the 70s, when the North Stand and the old scoreboard end were covered by a futuristic cantilever roof. The original idea was to continue the roof around the whole of the ground, so to cover the main stand and Stretford End. At the time the new cantilever sides were only two tier if l recall, your choice would be similar but with three tiers.
Old Trafford poses the club a massive conundrum. Personally l would hate to see United leave the place they are synonymous with, the way City moved from Maine Road. But l cant help wondering what they would have ended up with if they had taken up their option to move to the site where the Trafford Centre now sits, all those years ago.
You can’t knock down old Trafford it’s too iconic
Yeah "too iconic" lost 6-1 to city, 5-0 to liverpool and lost 4-0 to chelsea there
@@user-lz3mt4fb4u it's completely different stadium to the 70s version
@@user-lz3mt4fb4uright because iconic stadium means you're undefeated forever and a day.
The Germans did.
I think Spurs got it absolutely right. Build a new stadium alongside the old. Renovating OT would cost as much as building from scratch.
Maybe the glazers stay another 10 years and we get 5 portaloos and 2 portacabins.
How do we know we “will” be getting a new stadium ? We haven’t even got a new owner.
The railway is an opportunity and not a problem! I am an engineer and I have identified huge potential to make improvements to the alignment which benefits Network Rail, the rail companies and most importantly United. I have written to the club about the feasible options but they have “ master planners” engaged to develop ideas. I’m back in my box !
Populus have been commissioned to work up some plans so hopefully sometime soon we will no longer have to fantasise over bot generated stuff.
My personal choice would be to do the south stand and to wrap the third tier of the SAF around the east and Stretford ends. Also new roof/possibly retractable or fully enclosed to shut out Manchester rain. Also need new facade and extended concourses.
5:25 temiz ve modern tasarim ve göze cok şık . Yani ic atmosfer ucurabilir
@UnitedPeoplesTV - it's known as a cantilever roof and I agree it's synonymous with OT. Some of those designs looks awesome. Now we just need new owners willing to invest in our club 😢
The new stadium should be the highest capacity stadium in the world. Bigger than the one in North Korea. (That one seats 150,000).
Glory glory man utd
5:16 looks good
2nd one is definitely dreamland but the other 2 look mint especially the 3rd
I like the current classic look so I wouldn’t really like a full modern rebuild I think an extension would be nice
I'm with you on what you call the "rafters" we have to have those. It's synonymous with man united. Old Trafford actually got the nickname "old scaffolding" from them.
We must keep naming rights too. New Trafford? 😁
Honestly I'd be happy with either option. I just want us to have the best stadium & have the best training facilities for our men, youth & women like they deserve. We've been neglected for far too long man. We've been left to rot by the Glazers not investing in things that matter to us fans. Sooner Sheikh Jassim comes in & revamps everything the better then gradually we'll see vast improvements made. A new DOF & others that actually know football is also extremely important
Knock it down and build a brand new 90k stadium in its place. Old Trafford Stadium looks knackered.
Concept looked good
I think should add all our champions banners around the new stadium
We need a complete modern retractable roof stadium with a capacity of 95000 seats(fully air conditioned to attract more fans across the world and and also be the best example for all football clubs in the world.period
2:25 most beautiful
With Glazers still in charge your future stadium is more like one without a roof .
But I love some of the stadiums on the video, but more seat Capacity for mi, and like Real Madrid and Barcelona I think their seating Capacity is 100,000.00 because Manchester United deserve the best and the Glazers wouldn’t want that…
It's time to build a new stadium with 100,000 capacity!
Og background. Takes me back a few years
I’d love the 5th one, it looks modernized
New stadium 100%. We would fill 100,000 easily so it would pay for itself in time. I like the steep intimidating look too, should be an absolute spectacle for everyone.
I'm a Spurs fan so I'm a neutral here. Old Trafford does look good on the inside but the outside and concourses would be considered dated. If they could rip the railway stand down and build a more compact yet higher capacity that would be good. I'd get men working on waterproofing the roof. Each month get them working on parts of the concourse closing off sections while they do it. Tiling, painting, toilet upgrades etc. It doesn't have to be to the extreme expense of real Madrid either
i like the hellish looking ones the red and silver facade
Amazing🔥 0:21
As a Cardiff fan, I hope your stadium developments go ahead and that the Glazer's are gone asap.
If you think about it, Villa Park has a road going under one of its stands, therefore there's no reason why a stand can't be built with a tunnel for the trains.
You could even build a new railway station over on the other side of the line to allow for freight traffic to turn directly into Trafford Park. Therefore, from Piccadilly, there's four tracks into the station with a platform on the Manchester-Liverpool line for Old Trafford whilst the freight lines go around the station into the freight terminal with no issue over signal visibility etc.
I love all ❤
The first concept is the best
I love your new look and theme
