- Do you ever feel like you’re in your own way? Like the only obstacle stopping you from achieving success is your own lack of self-belief? This is something pop icon and Queen front man Adam Lambert has spent a career navigating.
In this chat with Fearne, Adam opens up about how he came to understand that he has anxiety. Looking back, he’s clear that having to supress his queer identity for a long time compounded his stress, and that while becoming famous alleviated some stresses, it created many others, including a huge pressure to constantly perform at a high level. They also talk about the positive impact Adam’s personally found taking medication has had on his mental health.
Adam’s single, Ordinary World, is out now, and you can pre-order his album, High Drama’, now too.
You can pre-order Fearne’s new book Speak Your Truth here: amzn.to/2HwAkek

He's like a friend you wished to have.
Just when I thought I couldn't love Adam more..... Such a sweet, sweet man. I can relate to so many things he says here. And I admire his openness. Thank you Adam and Fearne!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ik ben het helemaal met je eens! 👏🏻❤️
I don't even have words to express how incredibly captivating this conversation was. It was really interesting to sort of "discover" all what he went through. He's an artist yes. But he's before anything else, human.
Thank you Adam for being so generous and for sharing with us. ❤
Thanks for sharing, Adam. For those of us who suffer from stage fright, you appear superhuman. It is an eye-opener to learn you do what you do in spite of the anxiety. We all have more in common than we realize. Thank you for shining a light so others can see.
When I started playing bass in 99 i really wanted to be in a band and never could work it iut but finally a few years later in 2003 i had accomplished getting a band started and once we booked our first show i was an extremely nervous wreck. I remember setting up and soundchecking and knowing that things were going to go well and then i became a extremely nervous sickly scared whiney baby... I was so sick. Once the show started my stomach was so cramped and i knocked 2 basses out if tune during the 1st 2 songs... I had never done anything like that before but it started to become easier and once I started thinking I honestly do not care what anyone thinks it really became easier...
I have bad nerves and social anxiety
Wow just wow. I already was big fan of Adam Lambert. But Holy heck I have a new powerful spiritual connection with him now! It's so relaxing and satisfying to finally hear a celebrity connect with everyone on such a real human level! ❤️ u Adam
Inspiring. Positive vibes. Comfort. Calm. Focused. Adam Lambert. I'm a 63 year old disabled female who finds all of those words to be felt when I watch him. My physical pain lessens when I hear his voice. Blessed to know Adam Lambert is available to ease my pain with his beliefs, interviews and songs. Thank you
What a wonderful conversation. Adam is so open and honest and Fearne is delightful. I really enjoyed watching and found it insightful and educational. Thank you Adam for opening up. Please believe in yourself and how much you are loved
Conclusion after watching: Adam needs to start a podcast of his own! Therapist style. I feel like I could have a bottle of wine with this man and just talk / listen for hours!
I'm still taking anti depressants I lost my brother and husband within 11 months of each other. I don't care who knows it, sometimes we need that bit of help. I saw a mental health councillor on zoom after covid as I was one of those who had to isolate, and going back out into the world really made me panic, its a horrible feeling, I was like Adam feeling like I was going to pass out, dizzy and feeling sick. I'm so glad he can open up like that, he's human, I just wish some vile people wouldn't make comments on his weight, those things really hurt, so glad he actually told someone off on instagram for commenting - I think hes looking amazing right now, especially in leather!
He looks fantastic for his age, and I actually like guys a bit on the plump side (it’s genetic and very attractive) - not that it matters but just saying: if someone likes skinny then that’s their own thing, and they shouldn’t expect everyone to fit that ideal. That’s not Adam’s role in the world, fitting our relationship ideal. He’s here to perform songs. The only thing he needs is to be aware, understand his own body and emotions, and clearly there’s no lack on that front.
@@AdinaIspas fantastic for his age?? 🤣🤣 He looks fantastic, full stop
The media is cruel, because it makes money. They should do charity
Just when I think I cannot adore this man any more than I have since he first appeared on Idol, he offers the gift of personal honesty. I related completely when Adam said he looked back over his life and realized he had been living with anxiety all along. It is such a startling realization! How brave and intelligent of him to be willing to know himself, share even more of himself, and make us all feel more human and connected--which is what he has been doing all along with his singing voice. Thank you, Adam. Love you!
This was a wonderful open and honest conversation. So thankful Adam is talking about his struggles because in one way or another everyone can relate. This is why I love Adam so much beyond his vocal genius!
I love his voice but I really love him as a person. Was so happy to come across this great interview.
As a “recovering” Covid frontline nurse, I thank you both for sharing your experiences. I am rediscovering Adam and his music, finding “self care” in listening to his music again. It has become a part of dealing with the crash after the extreme Covid work. I focused on ventilators or some other object to be able to keep performing the complex and emotional care. It was hard to realize as things slowed down that I needed to recharge and focus on depression as real
He's truly sweet. This is why he's so beloved.
What an incredible interview with an extraordinary person in Adam Lambert, to be able to see inside the person not just the popstar was wonderful. Adam that you are able to be so open to the whole world so that we can identify with you is a gift we can all cherish.
Fearne, thank you so much for this interview and for letting us see into your life a little as well. Great job thank you both.
An enormously talented, intelligent, and authentic man. He has my admiration and respect. Adam, this 76 yr old woman is a big fan of yours. Thank you for your honesty. I’m sure you help a lot of struggling people.
Whatta sweet human being Adam is ❤
I have always loved this handsome man with his amazing voice and didn't think I could love him more, listening to him now I just do.
This is such a great deep conversation. Lovely to hear a story about Adam that I’ve never heard before. He’s been thru so many things. I love him so much
He’s so much fun, the way he tells stories
This was simply amazing to watch, what an authentic caring human being Adam is in addition to his phenomenal talent. The honestly shared discourse between he and Fearne was magnetic. Kudos all around, well done.
This was so eye opening and totally honest of what you have been going through, Adam you are so lovely and I’m sad that you have been through so much, I’m glad that you got help and seem to be dealing with it in a positive way, please look after yourself and take care, we love you and want you to be healthy and happy ❤
I love him. His open sharing helps a lot of people outside the gay community as well. This man is real. He is going to take the king’s title and crown in music. I loved him when I saw his first appearance on Idol. I knew he was authentic and incredible. I wish I was his grandmother. Lol!
What a beautiful person!! He could be a therapist! Like to listen to him for hours.
I can relate to so much that has been said here. Unrecognized anxiety caused me to quit my job as a doctor.
I really needed to hear this broadcast today. Adam is so relatable, and doesn't act like he's better than anyone else because he's a celebrity. He understands what it's like to be a "regular" person. I recently went through those feelings of being "off" and not knowing what was happening to me. This is the best interview I have seen recently. It seemed like two friends just talking, and Fearne asked all the right questions, along with sharing her own experiences. Adam and Fearne are truly an inspiration to help us all be our true selves and not worry about what others think. Bravo!
At 32 minute mark is ME.
I suffer with his type of anxiety. I get dizzy, short of breath and stomach issues. I have been in ER and had many test, all normal. He made me feel you are not alone
Thanks Adam
Marlene Malin, please never think you are alone. You always have Angels and your intuition guiding you.
My son who is a was in special education even throughout his University years has been dealing with these symptoms always. I needed to hear this thank you.
I hope you realize how important much your open conversation about mental health will resonate to others and help them feel less alone in their struggles. Thank you.
It is so important that Adam is being open about mental health issues. He has the potential to reach so many people. He's extremely talented and now he is extremely human. How refreshing. Remember, the most important thing if you are having issues is to talk to other people. Don't carry the burden alone. There is help available!
I just like and respect this man so much. Wish him the best! ❤
You see these artist on stage confident and giving their all and selfishly never give a second thought to their back story. Thank you both for sharing your experiences I'm sure it will help so many people struggling. X
Wow, I didn't think I could be any bigger of a fan of Adam, but after this, I absolutely am! So openly honest and intelligent. Thanks
This is the best and most real interview with Adam ever. Relationships on the way out are a major life stressor for sure!!!
Great interview Fearne Adam was very honest and open about his life which endears him even more to his fans ,Be kind to yourself Adam you deserve it 💖💖💖
This is such a wonderful interview. I'm just loving discovering more and more about Adams amazing personality and way of being. Love how open and relaxed he is with everyone.
Thank you very much for sharing this excellent interview. I have been able to see it with Spanish subtitles and I loved it.
I am sorry for the bad times that Adam has been through, as are many of us, and I am very grateful for his courage in sharing his experiences and fears with all of us.
Before I admired him, but now I admire him and value him even more. (And how handsome he is naturally 😍. He is a really attractive man) I adore him!! 💚🌹
Thank you Fearne and Adam! This was a great talk. Really appreciate oppenness an vulnerability from the both of you. 💜
Anxiety is serious! Thanks for sharing!! I just watched Adam open up about his life and it's relatable indeed!
Flight or Fight mode, I have been stuck in the Fight mode since I was 28, it manifested into Fibromyalgia. Thank you Adam for this open interview , keep your spirits up, you are so worthy !!!!! I love you for you ♥
I’ve loved him since his American Idol audition, it was love at first sight/listen. My first tattoo was based on him. I adore him so much and I wish him nothing but all the happiness in the world. He seems like such a genuine person too
Extraordinary chat, thank you so much Fearne. It was great to see how you both connected and hear of your experiences too. I have admired and loved Adam since 2009, not just for his phenomenal voice, but for his personality, honesty, caring nature and empathy and intelligence too.. The more I get to "know" him, the more I admire him. It is wonderful that he spoke of his battles with mental health and how he deals with it. I am sure this will help a lot of people. Riveting viewing 👏👏😍😍👏👏
I’ve been a fan since AI, I’ve loved his amazing voice and upfront personality. This interview took it another level and I admire him even more. Thank you Adam and Fearne
One of my favorite songs of Adam’s is “Underneath.” He took us there during this interview. What an inspiration to many! Love this! Thank you, Adam and Fearne! Fantastic!
Thanks for using your platform to call attention to mental health. Also, can we talk about how beautiful you are? We rarely get to see you glammed up. I LOVE your make up. Love love love the artistry in all your fun looks but I have to say, you are so beautiful without make up too. ❤️
This is amazing! Adam has been known to be honest! This is 58 minutes of Pure Honesty. Thank you to both of you. ❤
Fearne, you’re an excellent interviewer. Adam, I always admired your chutzpah, but with this you showed yourself as a real Mensch. This will help many people. Thank You for your honesty, openness and courage to be You! 🙏🏻🤩
What a wonderful and fascinating conversation with Fearne and Adam!!
Who would know that he has struggled anxiety?? Love Adam!!He is simply amazing and so inspiring!!❤️❤️❤️
I recognised so many symptoms or signs of anxiety which I have always struggled with since I was young. Thank you both so much for being so honest and showing vulnerability and helping us feel that we are not alone! ❤️
Love you Adam more than I can tell... ❤️
What a great honest and open chat this was from both of them. I think many of us can identify with a lot of this particularly anxiety. Thanks to amazing Adam for sharing ❤
What an absolute beautiful man, both inside & out he is. I wish him all the very best always. Whoever manages to steal his heart is an extremely lucky person.
To listen Adam talking is always a pleasure. This interview is one of the best conversation ever!
I'm very sorry about, what Adam passed through.Wish him the best and hope he will be care more about himself now.We need you, Adam healthy and shining for many many years!!!
Love listening to him talk, his voice is so tranquil….his singing flippin amazing🥰💜 great conversation 😌
Wow, totally relate to the fainting feeling, feeling like your blood is draining, it is such a terrifying feeling of sudden loss of control, it makes you feel so shaky. I loved this podcast.
Great to see the down to earth no makeup Adam. Fantastic convo with such a precious person!
I have been your fan since American Idol.
That was the only season of American Idol I watched. Your performances blew my mind.
And I have loved you even more because of your personality. Go Adam :D always love you.
Adam has taught me a lot of things. I became his fan as a teenager in Iran. Which helped open my mind to the 'outside world', helped me become fluent in English and find a community that helped me come out of my shell and express myself
Great interview btw! ❤️
I'm glad you talked about mental health. I feel like i'm still in a funk after covid and with all the protests going on here in Iran, a lot of us are feeling helpless.
Taking care of your mental health in this situation is really important
I'm in a kinda low spot of my life rn and my therapist offered me the option of medication to try to get me back on track. it's something I've never done before, and I'm scared of it, but Adam's words are giving me the courage I need. I think I might give it a try, you know. Thank you.
Happy to find you again after so many years Fearne... you look GREAT and I LOVE Adam Lambert his voice is DIVINE
Wow! What an amazing man- articulate, intelligent, caring. Thanks for your perspective and sharing!❤
Was on lexapro for 8 months and it completely healed me, it was magic for me
Absolutely perfect conversation. Now I love Adam even more ♥️
Excellent conversation, honest and real. Terrific that Adam is make up free and without huge glasses, both of which seemed a way for him to hide behind. Most of all it’s a break from the old interviews he was put through over the years, where they always included his eyeliner and sexuality. Both are his business but do not define him.
And while the glasses do seem a way to hide sometimes, in actual fact one of his most down-to-earth conversations was one where he wore huge glasses and bling. I wasn’t expecting such an open vibe there, so better not judge in clichés, I guess.
@@AdinaIspas go away, who’s judging… you’re clueless
Oh don't tell me, you are also one of those people who claims money is evil.
@@DiamondsRexpensive looks like you’re Lost.
I've been struggling with depression for a very long time. I'm finally going to go to therapy to try to help. I have horrible panic attacks. Listening to Adam's music really helps me calm down when I'm having a severe panic attack. I also will look completely conscious but actually be asleep. The doc cant do much about it. Something about his voice and the emotion he puts behind his music just calms me. I wish I could tell him thank you even just once so he'd know how much I truly appreciate everything he's done for so many people. I plan on doing drag as him to help raise money for me to breed and raise service or assistance dogs for people in the LGBTQIA+ community who otherwise couldn't afford it. It's definitely a long road to get the know how of training under my belt but I'm very passionate about it.
This is probably the best and most interesting interview/conversation with Adam that I've seen.
TY, Adam for sharing so much of yourself. Fearne, incredible interview, TY!
Your honesty and sincerity has been helpful to me and I love you for this. I think you are a wonderful person, inside and out. I have to say you are best entertainer in the world. Thank you for all the memories of your concerts, music, interviews...just everything!!
Such a great dialogue. So open and honest. Really helpful. Thank you both.
I cannot express enough how great this interview is. I think everyone can benefit from listening to both your experiences. Thank you.
30,000 views and only 978 likes? tsk tsk, c'mon people.
That’s because I watched it 20k times and can only like once 😉😁
@@janewicks8117 Now THAT makes sense
好爱Adam的访谈。特别真诚又特别得体,言之有物,信息量很大,又接地气。怎么有这么好的人❤
Thank you Adam for sharing. If more people were as open as you were during this interview the stigma around mental health would get less and less.
This is fabulous and Adam is so honest . Thanks for sharing ❤
Hi I just whated to say Adam Lambert you're the best please keep rockin 💘
Such a lovely conversation! Thank you both for being that open and honest! If only more people were like this, I am sure there would be fewer problems In the world.
We love him so much!!!
Adam is so interesting and intelligent. Great interview
sad to see some people have come here to bully Adam when he is at his most vulnerable. They are exactly the kind of people who need to find help with their own mental health issues and I hope this interview inspires them to do that - despite their initial need to attack him.
Wow what an old soul. Adam is so articulate and wise for his years. Great insights. Anxiety is not easy to manage. It can really derail you if you don't have tools to understand and work with it.
I loved this interview, just hearing about what Adam went thru and how we all at one point in our lives suffered from anxiety, the hardship to fit in. The acceptance from society, this is all a big deal. It's huge and I just wish he was my friend. I have been thru so much working in the medical field. I relate to what he went thru. I am so glad he was open and honest. What a great conversation about mental health, self care, medication etc. I thank Ferne and Adam for this great interview.
This was the best podcast ever, I can relate to much Adam has said. Thank you so much Adam for sharing. 💖
What an insightful interview! Adam, I love your honesty, and for being so open with your experiences. This absolutely moved me 🤍. I had pnd and the anxiety was crippling for months. Thank you for doing this. And thank you Fearne. 💞✨
Hello lovely Ferne, I hope that you are doing well. I have been listening and watching your podcast now ever since the beginning of this year. I was beyond thrilled that the Happy Place podcast is indeed the first podcast that I ever listened to. I think I've near enough listened to every single episode that has been produced and I'm in love. Thank you for everything that you do by helping so many people navigate their way through life. I feel so incredibly lucky to have found your podcast and the first episode I ever listened to was the episode with Russell brand, it has truly changed my life for the better and you may not know this but you have been on many walks in nature with me, sharing your words of wisdom whilst I take in the natural beauty that surrounds it all. Adam Lambert is an incredible talent and his voice is so unique, I can't wait to feast my ears on this later. The work you're doing is life changing for so many people and whenever you feel low, always remember that you are making a difference in this world, and that my friend, is amazing. lots of love from Lancashire
I second that!
Great conversation. Re the point you two made about making sure you recognize that you're safe in any given moment: I think that is so needed where the phrase, "I don't feel safe" is being overused, in my opinion. One's mind may mean one thing, but I think the body/physiology responds to that phrase with adrenaline and terror. Words matter. I think it might be helpful for folks to distinguish between not feeling safe versus feeling something they may be uncomfortable expressing, like angered, disrespected, embarrassed, or whatever applies.
We love you Adam
Rock on Adam! Love this guys attitude. F the haters
Thank you, both of you.❤
This is such a joy. I relate to so much that you discussed, and feel quite comforted and encouraged by it. Thank you both! 💜
Love this attention to mental health. We need to address this. Thank you.
That was so helpful! Thank you, Adam🥰 I was watching you on Utube on my tv and the screen was bigger and I thought a few times you made eye contact with me. It made me feel like I should run away! I realized immediately you couldn’t make eye contact with me, 😢 Too bad, so sad!
💗 Love Adam
WOW!!!! The penny has dropped!!! I have depression and anxiety. I've been getting all of those physical symptoms, fainting, back pain etc. Such brilliant advice. I'm certainly thinking about things differently now ( trying too!) Thank you guy's, so very much!!!! 😀😀❤️❤️
that's fantastic. It was worth Adam opening up like that if it reaches at least one person & helps them understand their own stuff. This makes me really happy!
He's a creative and intelligent human being. And a genuinely nice man.
we need to see more of Adam on your podcast, Fearne. we definitely could use more deep conversations about such topics.
I’m so happy that Adam is talking about Mental Illness
Start talking about and what to do about people just don’t want to hear about it
Thank you Adam
Dear Adam, this ordinary world needs more extraordinary people like you 🤍♾️
❤ thank you so much for this ❤
