- Metropolitan Line Driver Keith Tibbles retired on 15th May 2004. This is a record of his last journey to London, and his goodbyes to fellow railwaymen. Includes drivers eye views and working an A60 stock train.
I can't believe this popped up on UA-cam. I was Keith's manager and was just behind the camera for his last trip. Tim O'Toole, the head of the Underground came to see Keith at 5am that day to say thanks to him. Didn't want to do it when the cameras were there so came when Keith booked on first thing.
Thanks Darrell, he is still around, and keeps in touch, spends two hours with us when we are stewards at the local museum, of which I produce all the videos.
@@ThreeRiversMuseum Fantastic, nice to know Keith is still knocking about, he was quite a character.
May he rest in peace 😊
Is he dead I didn’t know that
All the best Keith ... I was a regular passenger on your trains many times and you always had the time to say hello .
I miss These Old A Stock Trains And I Saw you once Keith On The Met Line wen I was 6 years old will miss you Keith
It was great to chat with you in the Three Rivers Museum this afternoon (Friday 13th January 2017). A great video.
If he thinks they ruined it then. I wonder what he thinks of it now 😔
Retirement is never as easy as it's cracked up to be , working for 40 years plus then stop . Memories are all that's left . Finding something to do is key . Good luck
Really great to see this. Thanks for sharing.
I've never ever seen that - a train passing Northwick Park on the local lines and not stopping.
He called it a fast train to Baker Street but announced it was stopping at Wembley Park. When I used the Met Line in the 90's the actual fast train didn't stop between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Finchley Road. I suspect it had to stay out of the "fast lane" in order to stop in Wembley.
I remember when I started my apprenticeship on the buses, it was not uncommon to have people who had completed in excess of 45 and 50 years service. Great company to work for then it got carved up, sold off, assets stripped from it and shutdown.
This was filmed 4 days before I was born!
I swear this was the same driver who was cussing 👑 Tox.
yeah it was
Yes he was saying that if he got hold of TOX he would have given him a good kicking
Where did you get this footage? The documentary this was part of only includes Mr Tibbles’ journey to Baker St, not from, and I’m looking for footage of the A-Stock being taken into and out of service. Any help finding the source footage would be brilliant.
I got it from channel 4 who did the original series, as far as I can remember.
Keith passed away sadly a few days ago .
That’s unbelievably sad. What was wrong with Keith?
How did Keith die
Remember when we could get a fast train to Baker Street and not have to stop at every station? Thanks TFL, thanks for nothing.
Shame there isn't a set of these trains left now. Scrapping everything was most economically viable. Memories are superficial.
That was all down to the previous Tory government that wanted to get rid of the old tube trains instead of modernising them
Funeral on 11the Dec St Mary’s Rickmansworth 10.30
Told you I'd watch it. 😃🚇
What was he talking about at 9:39?
Sam SPAD’s Signal Passed At Danger. They can occur if the driver passes the signal.
ThreeRiversMuseum ahhhh. Wow, thats about 2 every year!
Is Keith still with us?
Most definitely lives in Rickmansworth.
He passed away 16 November 2023.
