I mean hes gives such good advice about staying flat footed to build strength. Its gonna slow u down but it will def build strength and then when u lift it up. 🤘
Just came across this fittingly since his passing Amazing but yet advanced fundamentals Dom should be put into the Long Island Musicians Hall Of Fame a treasure RIP
Thank you for this. I will definitely utilize in my continued practice journey. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Dom here in Chicago a few years back. He made you feel like in a room full of 100 people, you were the only and number one person in the room. What a treasure of a human being. RIP, Dom.
It must have been in the late 80s, but I went to see a drum clinic by my favorite drummer at the time, Billy Cobham. For me, there was a little-known drummer opening for him by the name of Dom Famularo, and when Dom started with just a practice pad, I settled in for a respectful session of "please get on with this, Billy's waiting to start". In 10 minutes, Dom had the entire music store audience on its feet, applauding him for his friggin practice pad work. After both drummers were done, I left the Billy Cobham clinic with a timeless memory of this New York drum teacher who'd just mopped the floor with my drumming hero. I don't mean this as a slam to Cobham, who deserves the accolades - but DOM won that day, and I'm pretty sure Billy knew it. I'll never forget Dom for doing this; it was an eye-opener in so many ways, and made me a better drummer...
My experience was similar. I attended a Billy Cobham clinic about 1981 and found it was a co-clinic with 2 drummers and the other guy Dom was totally unknown to me. After watching Dom perform I was a believer. It was his drum set soloing that did it for me, Dom was spectacular. Billy was great as we expected but Dom was not overshadowed sharing the stage with a living legend. It was a great night of drumming to be sure.

Dom Was The Real Deal..That guy could practically play anything. And a Great Teacher. I've never seen this particular video from him and I'm in my 40's. Love It!!
Interesting. After a week of watching it, I'd say this 1984 video is still a great complement for the book. Had been looking for it everywhere - Thank you so much for sharing.
I saw this video advertised in MD back in the day. VHS was very expensive in the 80s especially when your parents thought so! I am so glad to catch this UA-cam but sadly I've seen this for the first time after his passing. I have 2 of his books and an old vid of him at a high school doing a clinic. Such joy, passion, seniority, authority, and power on the drums. Dom will never be replaced but always hold the highest regards in all areas of the drumming and PASIC community! Thanks for the privilege for finally watching this video after 30 something years ( give or take few or more)
Dom is such a legendary drummer! His legacy will never be forgotten! Thank you Dom for your inspiration, enthusiasm, educational products, and drumming!!!
I only wish that I had a drum instructor like this in 1978 - 1980 when I first started playing drums and progressing. Dom had a very relaxed attitude and easy to follow teaching. Sorry to learn he passed since.
What an amazing man, I never had a chance to meet this wonderful soul, I do hope I can learn from his examples and be kind and encouraging to all whom I meet. If I never play half as good on the drums I just pray I can be 100% as good at being a genuine loving and kind individual ❤ Thanks Dom 💯🥰🥁 Rest Peacefully You Wonderful Soul 😊
Such a generous and encouraging man. I had the pleasure of his company when he performed in Dublin thirty years ago and it was elevating . Rest in peace and thank you.
Not sure what he was using in 1984 for this video (which was upscaled to 1080p from videotape), but he mentions using Pro-Mark sticks here: ua-cam.com/video/KJULPrOVlUM/v-deo.html
@@jojoscanthe changed literally of his gear quite a lot from this point. Cymbals, drums and his actual set up were all different. I remember in the late 80s and 90s he was considered a "double bass guy" in MD.
Non lo ho mai sentito suonare un brano con qualcuno mentre si possono trovare documentazioni, soprattutto online, di sue presunte attvità didattiche. Mi chiedo se si possa insegnare la falegnameria senza aver mai costruito qualcosa.
God bless Dom! it's a sad, sad day.
Wow, didn't know till I read that.
What a loss!
Didn't even expect
RIP
Cherish the times. God bless
R.I.P. Dom Famularo. You gave the world of drummers and drumming purpose and importance. God Bless you Dom. You will surely be missed.

So much wisdom and knowledge shared and his philosophy of life and drumming will stay forever among us!
Long live Dom Famularo!!!
I had this video as a kid. That is the craziest drum kit set up ever. Sick New Balance kicks btw.
Dom was a drummers drummer. He loved the drums and he shared his knowledge. Thanks Dom.

My teacher, a student of Dom's, played this for me a few years after it came out. I guess that makes me his grand-student.

It's definitely something for a niche audience. Glad you're one of them!
Great Musician. RIP ❤
What a great drummer/teacher.... and just a great person!!! RIP.....
Agreed. He was the total package of skill and friendliness.
Thank you Jojo. RIP Dom Famularo. A fine drummer who advanced not just drumming, but the brotherhood of drumming and the instruments drummers play.
Cool to see instructional videos from before drumming became an extreme sport.

You're welcome. I'm sure glad the tape held up long enough to be digitized! There probably aren't many decent copies left out there.
Happy 70th Birthday Maestro!

Who has the same aura ?
I don't know anyone, any suggestions ?

Crazy that 2:58 is now considered a cool groove.
