midge has never got the recognition he deserves,he was one of the first pioneers of synth pop yet hes never given the credit for all the biggest hits..
Pretty sure he's done ok. The fact that he still packs theatres shows he has the recognition he wants! No one ever says Warren Cann is one of the worlds best drummers, certainly for timing, but he is, he's just out for attention.
I am a heavy metal and hard rock fan but l could listen to this all day. I saw midge ure live in Melbourne when he did the Vienna tour a few years ago and it blew my mind. Stands as one of the best gigs I have ever seen. He is a musical genius.
@@steveoconnor522 One of those facts that few know, and many that do are totally surprised - guy is a superb multi instrumentalist, and not half bad at song writing too :)
Lol, I'm a classic hard rock and metal fan. Favourite band Black Sabbath, but I agree that this is awesome. So very unlike what I normally listen to. Although a banging guitar solo would have been nice. 🤟
I'm so glad I was a teenager in the 80s! Have always been an Ultravox fan and seen them live several times, also Midge on his solo tours. Now, at 60 years young, I still love this song, and, frankly, I like this version even better than the original. Well done, Midge and band, you still rock!
If you had asked me - years ago - would I witness this track being performed in 2024 by one of its creators, I would have replied : “Can’t say I enVISAGE it !” 😂😂😂 !!!!
I was a total hard rock, metal head growing up in the 80’s but loved me some Ultravox, Hurting era Tears for Fears and New Order. Local Aussie/Kiwi bands holding it down too like Mi-Sex and Icehouse. Late 70’s, early 80’s synths have such a great sound. They always mix well with electric guitar
A good - or maybe best expample - with mixing wekk electric guitars with synths is Paul Reynolds from "A Flock of Seagull". Many people say it was a synth band, but if you listen closely, the real and outstanding instrument is Paul with his stunning guitar parts and melodies. A real underestimated talent in those young years (he was not 20 or so at the recording time of "I Ran")
I remember...it came out 1981 and was after some days at number 1 and stayed there long ... Also Ultravox catched me 1981 and I was at Schwabinger Braeu in Munich watching and listening Ultravox and a sec time also in Munich....Midge Ure is the voice and when I hear this voice I know it is he...he is brilliant for me and sure for more....so: We go and Vienna is always in my mind....thx for this vid
Great Classic and a perfect example of using electronics to create music! When a synthesizer comes in and pumps the space with energy, it sounds like pure ecstasy to the very end. Midge is somewhat underrated.
Midge Ure is a legend!! We have to know & realize that the world best singers are based in the genre POP !!! Very best regards Roland Orzabal George Michael & VERY little others
Absolutely brilliant as you would expect from someone as talented as Mr Midge Ure. Have had the pleasure of meeting him and the drummer Russell when they came to Melbourne. Both lovely guys.
The "Steve strange version" was produced, co-written and partly sung by Midge Ure. I guess Midge Ure's live versions are closer to the studio track than any Steve Strange live versikn ever was.
That is awesome. He is just as good as he ever was ...
The way Midge-san sings, the sound, and the band are all so cool and perfect !❤️👍🏻👏
Thank you for this ❤❤❤ amazing Midge Ure
Fade to grey is one of the most iconic songs of the 80s a masterpiece RIP Steve strange and thx midge ure for producing such a superb track👏👏👏
And of course not forgetting Chris Payne for coming up with the bassline and chords for this masterpiece.
Midge Ure wrote this song and produced it.
Agree totally this is it

I want to build a room in this song and never move out ❤❤ ! Best synth/pop song ever written !!
EPIC MIDGE URE...This man sounds as good as he did in the 80s, Congrats to this band for a great live performance....Again EPIC, EPIC, EPIC....

My fav bands of all time are Ultravox and Linkin Park.
He was great when he toured with Thin Lizzy, Fantastic Guitarist

Agreed, I saw Fear factory and Machine head earlier this year and loved it but always return to synth pop

Midge, wow vocals superb, great to hear you after all these years
As our young generation fails to impress us, we look to the professionals to redeem the FREQUENCY.
This is superb. Love Visage, Ultravox and Midge …

Legendary! One of the most important Artists in the 80's

Lucky you
Was für ein genialer künstler mit so einer sanften Stimme!🥰
Life would be awful without the vocal talent this man has. He puts his all into it. Always has done.
an absolute hit of my youth, must have heard it 1000 times😍
Brilliant!
... also the name of an Ultravox album ! ;-)
saw him this weekend in CALIFORNIA... so wonderful. what a talent. Blessed to see him.
Midge is a legendary pioneer of the 80s that still transcend to the present. This song and many more of his work still stood the test of times.
Imagine being there and hearing and feeling that base vibrating around you ❤
I love, love, love, love, love, love, love..awesome performance❤by the way, Midge Ure looks like Patrick Stewart's clone or twin brother❤❤
I thought that too! Make it so 😆
Midge is A Proper Talented Legend.😊❤
Good Looking Guy in He's Day. And Great musician, 👨🎤 Singer.
And Was Leader of Slik. Early Day's, Bought The Album, Still Got it Requiem
Thank you. the first Visage LP is so good that it can only match "Vienna" in greatness.
My favorite Midge Ure song ..................... an inmense hug of light from Perú 💋💋💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹⚡⚡📣🌈😎👍...
Still sounds superb!!!
Awesome song performed by a legend
"And they say that in our time
We would reap from their legacy
We would learn from what they had seen
In our time"
A true classic of synth pop. Thank you, Mr Ure.
Well, such a banger it is!!! And just love Midge voice....a piece of my childhood!
I love Midge voice in Vienna or We came to dance but Steve was one and only ❤
Love this and the message in the video. Petshop boys at their best
SYNTH PERFECTION ❤ MIDGE
... and to think, he's actually an accomplished guitarist... with an astounding voice !
Nah. Needs analog synths. Great tune and vocals but this doesn’t work without them. Computers are close enough.
If you had asked me - years ago - would I witness this track being performed in 2024 by one of its creators, I would have replied :
“Can’t say I enVISAGE it !” 😂😂😂 !!!!
Absolutely positively fantastic 👍👍👍
Just sent a shiver.... and for a moment it was '81. RIP Steve Strange and this is wonderful Midge
Absolute banger ,midge is proper
I ❤️ Midge's voice when he's singing on the track " Dream on"

Just a superb rendition, of one of the great 80's songs, covered by one of the masters of art
I was 17 in 1980 when I first heard this song and have been obsessed with it ever since.
I feel the same way. I was 15.
Saw this fella play in new zealand a couple of years ago, absolutely blew me away
Incredible performance, fan of Midge ure for ever!!!
He’s a treasure for sure. ❤
Awesome recording & giving this song its right place. Heard so many times and this is one of the best ❤.

That's may because Midge Ure and Strange wrote the lyrics?
Great version of a fantastic song!
I am very much looking forward to seeing Midge live in Bournemouth later this month!
