I think that is available .. integrated.. in for example in i4 and modern BMW-s. This solution is for retrospective to older BMW-s. (Well i guess the exact same , or in function the same, solution is available by any car electric service with the half the price...)
@@Lordvarbaro ive got a new 7 series… it does not have an inbuilt dashcam… or parking monitoring.. just the mirror cameras you can access via the bmw app..
It is though. BMWs can have DriveRecorder installed which uses the front, rear, and mirror cameras to record on demand or in an accident. I’m not sure why this is sold.
@@MiguelRodriguez-mj2ec You have to have Park Assist Plus to be able to OTA purchase drive recorder. This gives people an option for those who don’t have it.

Or you could just improve systems within cars. Most cars have had cameras for a while now and all tend to have large enough hard drives to store footage. Why companies are charging for built in dash cams as options or not doing them at all I will never know as it seems like a necessity. My Car has 2.0 installed, its not as good as this one. Can the existing 2.0 connection, wiremesh be use for 3.0? trying to avoid the hassle running all the wirings again..
Drive recorder isnt as good as this. the i4 doesn't have all the new tech so it doesn't do recording outside of getting hit by a car and it clips the 20 seconds before and after an accident
This camera is considerably better than the integrated one. The integrated one is built on several-year-old tech. You have to see it for yourself. Night and day.
Do you have to turn it on every time you start the car? Mine says "Make sure your dash cam is installed correctly" EVERY time I start the car. The BMW / Mini service provider has pretty much given up on helping me. This was a Mini I ordered and waited 6 months for and had this installed at the port. It's the same camera as in the BMW. I am at a complete loss and am so angry. I want it taken out. I can't believe I have to manually connect the camera EVERY time I drive the car after I hear this stupid message. Can anyone help me please?

Did you find the fix for this? I have the same issue. Display is black. It records perfectly and I can use the app as well, but no live view from the screen.
Both the front and the rear cameras have the radar/motion sensor. It is a rectangular slightly elevated structure to he right of the main circular lens, with the BMW logo in between.
Can someone tell me , is the 3.0 Pro screen meant to be on whilst driving, as mine seems to just have a constant red light on , I have to keep turning it on and off just to see anything , then the camera just stays off , pls help , and trouble shooting, 3.0 Pro doesn't connect to the app 🥺 just says no device found , I'm beginning to regret having this fitted
I had similar issues with the previous ACE 2. Now the camera and the app are working OK. My car battery was low and the the camera couldn't generate its wifi for the app to connect to it. This Ace 3 can work without the app, but may not work if the car battery is low. Could you try resetting the camera? Best of luck.
@medzed7636 Thanks for the reply, I now just turn it on when I am setting off , and turn it off when parked at home on driveway, it still doesn't connect to the app , I should of gone with a different make , in hindsight. And no help whatsoever from BMW
The BMW drive recorder only records essential parts of an accident. The BMW Advance EYE cameras are always rolling, and turn on automatically. So essentially capturing much more info than the drive recorder. The image of the advance eye is more clearer as the cams are inside the car as opposed to the outside so less prone to weathering. BMW Advanced EYE also has the feature that it records fit up to 24 hours in park mode. Much better value.
@@jasminemulcahy6672 Nonetheless, why not simply extending DriveRecorder's feature accordingly? Saves lots of additional disassembling/assembling work and additional cables ...
@@derpraktiker I’m only guessing that because these cameras are so tiny, they don’t have the capacity, at this stage to capture the same amount of info that the BMW eye can. Maybe in future it will.

QUESTION - how BMW came with dash cam and did non preinstalled power connectors so the owner doesn’t need to disassemble half of his car?
Installation of camera cost the same as camera itself 😭

absolutely correct, i’ll never get it installed. I have OCD issues and i’ll hate it

You also have to pay a subscription to utilise the cameras (drive recorder)
The DriveRecorder unfortunately stinks in comparison. Let's hope for, and demand that BMW releases a new DriveRecorder based on this more modern tech.

Why can’t BMW have an integrated cam build inside the car?
