- Mochis are small ball cakes that bring luck to the person who eats them. They come from Japan and traditionally they are made during festive times.
Their skin is made from sticky rice, their stuffing is more varied, it can be with beans, matcha green tea or fruits. I’m going to show you how to make the red bean sweet mochis.

Thank you for sharing. What’s the purpose of vege oil when making the dough? Can it be omitted?
This is an excellent video. Arigato.
Oishi so ❤❤
You have no idea how badly I wish I could make this
Madam, you are living that lifestyle I aspire to!
hii! I followed your recipe and made my first mochi ever🎉😁! I think I got pretty close. But the dough wasn’t so elastic and when I went to add the filling it would break a little. Could it be because maybe I added too much sugar, or because I should cook it for a little longer?
Thank you for the recipe!! 😊
I like your voice~ thanks for recipe
Ranip is mochi and the ❤
I am searching for a Henba-mochi recipe. Anyone know where I might find one?

Hi I have question when you sprinkle corn starch or tapioca starch do you toast first? thank you for recipes.❤
Hi, we don't need toast first corn starch or tapioca starch.
Heartbreaking mochi ranip
Hi so i tried this and the filling worked perfectly but i had an issue with the mochi skin no matter how much i combined and blended it wouldn't turn into the same smooth mix as yours, anyone have any tips?
Maybe you should take time to knead the dough?
Can you do the measurements in tablespooon and cups?
American
Hi. Can this be frozen? Will it taste as good after?
Idk try it out
You can use a food processor too
can we use normal sugar instead of brown sugar in red bean paste?
Hi, yes you can also use normal sugar to make this recipe.
Has anybody tried this with other types of red beans? Are the Azuki beans the only ones that work? I can't find any where I'm from and I wanted to try with regular red beans.
Update: I tried making it with regular, cheap red beans and the taste is very similar. The difference is that the beans I used were much slower to boil, I suppose they also taste less authentic, but it's good enough for me. I think I left the dough to steam too much, cause it wasn't as soft as in the video:( the sugar was way too much for me, they are unbearably sweet, but I like the flavor. Next time I will add less sugar to the anko paste and they should be fine. I also added matcha green tea powder to the dough and I love the flavor:)
Daniela Circiumaru I bought the beans from the Internet in U.K. Using the website buywholefoodsonline.co.uk.
Try to make it with any lentils aur beans paste available to you or boiled sweet potato paste ..Anything works
The beans of adzuki variety are the sexiest of them all no other bean variety could be compete with the adzuki bean, adzuki beans are on a tier on their own. However you "can" use other type of bean varieties but it just won't be the same, flavor wise regular brown or black beans have a similar taste to the adzuki bean. But for superior taste I suggest you stick to the good ol adzuki bean.
I always used less sugar than what it's called for..
Is there a way to make it without a steamer?
Yes you can. Don't steam it. Fry it. Til golden brown.
Don't boiled it either.. This is the first time I've ever seen anyone who has done it this way..
You can add to any deeper pot a flipped shallow bowl heat resistant, add water and place the bowl with the dough on top of the shallow bowl (hope that makes some sense to you) and you will have a steamer! I'm Latina and we need steamer for several preparations, for those where I need corn I make a bed of corn husks on the pot, add water and place me preparation on a plate on top of the husks ;)
Will be same taste if i use regular rice flour ?
Hi, it doesn't work with regular rice flour. it works with glutinous rice flour.
@@MorganeRecipes But will be same taste ?🥰
What can I do instead of steam?
Microwave
when you say "severals more in the freezer" do you thinks it's OK one week ?
She said “several months in the freezer”, the accent made it sound like “more”. I’ve stored mochi in the freezer 3 months before freezer burn starts to become an issue.
My dough wasn’t elastic 😢
is the red bean mochi safe for dogs to try? I assume at least maybe a peanut butter mochi would be okay for them to try? XD
Roll in RAW corn starch? How can we eat that? Normally, we fry the glutinous rice flour n let it cool to roll the mochi flour in! If u want to save time, you can find such cooked flour in same baking supplies shops. It's called "kow fen".
Can I use red kidney bean instead?
You can, but it would probably not taste like the traditional red bean paste in mochi
Yes Mochi's are Japanese, but the ingredients are Chinese in origins. The red bean paste dates back to the Heian period when Chinese travelers visited Japan with recipes for steamed buns (aka mann tao). Japan adopted the recipe and incorporated meat and vegetables, however, Buddhist priests were unable to eat the meat-filled buns so they opted for a substitute of boiled red mung beans (aka azuki beans). Sticky Rice origins are from Thailand. 🙄
and...Mochi is still Japanese :v
Chapssaltteok is Korean.
All are delicious, from all parts of Asia.
U didn’t make a single point what are u trying to say ? If ur just stating origins of every food then Mochi is still Japanese like u said. So u have no point
Well put...
응
My mochi didn’t cook in the middle
