After I was born (1952), we lived in Adams Garden Estate. The year before, on 25th December 1951 my mum and dad were married in St Mary's Church. I spent the first 17yrs living in Rotherhithe, Redriff Estate before moving to Essex. I spent many happy hours playing football in Southwark Park and in the summer we would go and cool off in the Lido in Southwark Park. Happy days and great memories. I will be 73 going on 40 this year LOLOL and my grandchildren keep telling me "Granddad, act your age not your shoe size" lolol.

Growing up in this area it was rumoured that princess Margaret used the single house still standing on the river just to the right of the Angel pub for her affair with Antony Armstrong-Jones and in those days you could watch the river activity all day long, I recall people waving goodbye on boats going to Southampton for their migration to New Zealand or Austrailia.
Enjoyed this. An underrated area.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
