The more I watch these videos the more my admiration for James grows. Someone in this country is actually on the ball and can organise stuff. When I grow up I want to be like James. Unfortunately I’m 57 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
It's refreshing to see a farm owner of PX scale actually getting out in the fields and getting involved and help the operation move along, instead of pointing and driving off like many do. Well done once again team PX. 👍👍
James, I do like the way you are committed to health and safety, especially as farming is one of the most dangerous professions to be in, not only do you talk about it you act on it and that is very good. I have worked for a company who did an awful lot of talking about health and safety and very little about it, in fact would turn a blind eye if it costs money. So well done and keep up the good work .
Great to hear that real world conversation between farmer and agronomist. You can't please all of the people all of the time as the saying goes. All about getting as much done as possible, in the best possible conditions, given the time constraints and weather to deal with. Nothing is ever perfect but no lack of effort from the PX crew. One of my favourite videos.
Completely agree with Michael, the narrower the drill row spacing the better to try and allow cereals to try and shade out and more competitive with blackgrass, etc. Same applies on the Cotswold brash where narrow row advantageous to allow more chance of an individual cereal seed to grow between the stones😮
I loved that comment form cus micheal, I like these drills, James- I don’t, micheal- well you don’t know what your talking about do you 😂😂 that was class. 😊
Having grown up on an arable farm in the 70’s/80’s/90’s I really enjoy watching these videos to hear some of the terminology that takes me back to what my Dad used to talk about.
Great video as always. I love watching you and Michael discussing black grass strategy that we all wrestle with. Cambridge Rollers were invented in Wiltshire believe it or not. William Cambridge from Market Lavington Nr Devizes.
Hi James I remember coming to fit a variable rate box at yours a very long time ago with graham barr from soyl. I enjoy your videos very much reminds me of my younger years when I worked for a contract farm in wiltshire and Berkshire. Keep up the hard work.
It amazes me how well you organise such a set like you have, some people would be in a muddle with only half that operation. Hopefully the rain won't stop you to much, although we do need it . Keep the video's coming James they a very enjoyable and informative .
Fantastic insight into a large farm Co , I’m really enjoying this channel, informative, enjoyable and great to watch . The PX Team come across really well , oh and so does James 😉a real business farmer Character 👍
Great video Jamie enjoy your banter with cousins Michael with your very interesting conversations. It would be nice if you could have an PX Farm's open day so us fans of your channel could come and have a look around the farming operations and meet the team🙏🤞👌
Brilliant video again!! Well done to all involved getting planting done 👏🏻👏🏻 I’m just wondering James what will you video once planting is done?? Maybe visit some other farms maybe!!! Personally I’ll like to see a maize harvest for a bio gas plant 🤞🏻😁
Great video as always, had to laugh after James's talking about health and safety regarding dumpers to next clip of guy sliding out of tractor on his arse and acting like nothing happened! Class!! 😂😂👌
Great video and informative as always, I think Michael is captain sensible and you James more the maverick love it 😂😂 thought about the black grass as the chemicals are not around to control do youthink controlled burning would limit it? not sure how you could do though. besy safe from essex
Three points of contact young man 😂😂 and face machine, rule 101, as my dad drummed into me, machines are out to get you! Another brilliant video 👍🏻👍🏻❤️
General Peck!! Surely you would be Admiral Peck with running such a tight ship keeping everything ship shape and Bristol fashion lol. Great double act, so funny but I can't decide who you are closest to.......Laurel & Hardy That's another fine mess you've got me into, The Chuckle Cousins!, Hale & Pace, Delboy & Rodney. No, unique comedy gold.
James you mentioned compulsory purchase of land to create a new highway. But for a new business at the time. To go bigger must of been a obvious no brainier. I like that the landowners are on board. And they are not on the SFI bandwagon. Like the channel.
Hi James, when stopped in work ,the control box on a 6m Horsch Pronto drill allows you to purge the drill tubes before moving, so eliminating the need to lift and reverse up. As it appears to be the same control box, I’m surprised the same option isn’t incorporated on your drills.
Talking about emergence. I just looked at a field of wheat near my house and its 55-60mm tall already. I don't think I have ever seen it so advanced at this stage of September. The fact that its been warm and that it had some rain a week ago has made a big difference.
Well done James for taking my comment serious with dave sitting on the dumper whilst being loaded. It’s good that you chased it with NFU and got the response that will benefit the future without HSE on your back.
I like your seed/auger trailer.. I have one similar.. with a CanAgro 919 auger mated to a 17 tonne trailer. You mentioned mother bins/chaser bin.... I saw at one of the USA farm shows... a bit like our Cereals Show... that one manufacturer had built an 80 tonne capacity chaser, on tracks of course.. ideal for your scale of operation
Thankyou James, another great update. I really enjoyed you and Michael talking about the drilling, it's interesting to gain knowledge how you have to taylor your inputs into getting a good crop depending on all the variables you face. The best bit, though, is the banter between the two of you. The 1167 looked very impressive and what a great sight to see all the machines working. Thanks again, looking forward to the next video.
Morning James, regarding loose wheel nuts, it is important to make sure the 'mating' surfaces on the hub & wheel rim are clean, & to oil studs & nut collars, so, when torqueing up, clamping force is not being lost to friction. I watched a 12 year old vid of you being interviewed by my niece Emma Baker, on your regional tv programme, i think you had half the land area then, half the worries & half the tummy! Please keep the vids coming- very interesting, regards, Tim Whitehead, Ashford Kent
Excellent content as always general Peck! I saw the forecast for the weekend and its great if you are a duck. Fortunately for us on Skye we are actually having a summer at the moment, its been 4 days without a cloud in the sky but it is very noticeably cooler in the mornings. Autumn is nearly here so I hope the weather gods smile on all our arable farmers.
Great video. The cultivations have gone well, and the start to drilling. We've had over 2 inches of rain here in Bedfordshire in the last 24 hours. That's gonna hold us a bit. I think the Vaderstad 800s drill is the best drill ever made👍looking out the window and it's still pouring down with rain! 😮🤦♂️
Health and safety definitely has a big role to play so many aspects of farming; particularly mechanised agriculture. I have covered the role of driver training and instructor in the fuel logistics industry for an international company for many years and the importance part of cab entry and exit is paramount. Company statistics in the early days were poor when it came to injury in the workplace; the worst case was a broken neck. Training and refresher training pays huge dividends. It’s been years since we sustained a major injury at work. Thankfully Kieran walked away from his trapeze act; hopefully he’ll remember the little remedial reminder of how it’s supposed to be done. I placed some little decals at cab entry points depicting the 3 points of contact upon entry and exit; works well as a reminder.
As always superb video one of my highlights of the week, and the banter is great.. Don't envy you with the planning going forward, need to get a Mystic Megg, Hope all goes well for the coming week.
Health and Safety is a constant concern. As a little aside; hopefully the drivers in their haste to get on and off so often to keep the work progressing don't slip and fall off ........... causing another problem !!!!
James and Michael are team leaders in Grain agriculture knowledge, soil types, moisture, depth, crumbling soil, and growing depth for seed, slugs in air pockets, the best part is the Team combined of men who work together in sync, to keep the quality of their work in progress every time, James, why not train college students to these standards, colleges should be sending students who are learning grain agriculture out to big grain producers to show them every day life, no point in their theory Leary it practical learning they need, the banter and craic is a banter is an added bonus, you are in a great place, you are a real Master of the Agricultural industry, keep up with the videos and information, it really captures the real world, God bless you and your family and all your Team, Michael power, ballycahane, IRELAND [EIRE]
James look into wood biomass heating that could also use straw pellets, as your house is connected to the offices you should be able to get a grant plus some people use wood biomass for drying grain.
Another cracking video, would you ever consider a 12 meter sprinter to get combination of a cultivation element and the narrow row spacing offered by a serto. That’s one of the main reasons we favor a vaderstad rapid on our farm due to its close row spacing and ability to smother out black grass. Keep the videos coming, really enjoyable and informative.
I don’t think you’ll be coming to Bedford for a while, we had 113 mm rain on Sunday and have had 30mm so far today and more forecast for tonight, lots of standing water in your fields here.
Hi James Charlie Cannon here - a young farmer from Hyde Hall Farm What’s your rough ratio between winter and spring crops and what is your usual crop rotation Love the videos
Could Michael & James review row spacing of crops, particularly spring cereals? The Canadian prairies uses 10/12 inch (25/30cm) but there is a desire to go narrower for yield? What are your thoughts
Had 90 ml of rainfall since midnight Saturday night. My drilling of wheat put on hold for a few days. How much rainfall have you had James? What does this do for your 5th of October deadline..
Hello James. I was very interested in what you had to say on the cab dumper v non cab dumper. It has been the ruling for a few years now that drivers must disembark when being loaded. I both agree and disagree with this it to be honest. It is dangerous to keep having the guy keep climbing up and down on what is quite a tall bit of kit but also being loaded by a 21t excavator is obviously a lot more perilous - those buckets are big. The problem lies in the driver becoming tired towards the end of the day and less inclined to climb down, factor in also the construction worlds wish for the operator to wear the seatbelt and there you have the recipe for corners being cut.
I love to follow your progress in harvesting and drilling. Here in Sweden all has to been done between end of Juli to the end of September. Would it be possible to start the videos with a text saying like “wheat 400/1600 ha done” for all the crops? Did you drill any OSR this year? Thanks Axel
I know this would probably be time consuming but is it possible to have a map of where your growing and what your growing? I'm in Scotland and don't know the distance between all your land. Thanks James shand
another great video james you and micheal remind me ofthe chuckle brothers nice bit of banter/> whats the history of the field name Gambling Gay, not sure on spelling, great videos.😁
The artificial sweeteners used in diet drinks, still induce an insulian response and can result in weight gain. Increase your protein intake to feel fuller Great video as always.
ye have taken out hedges in order to increase in field efficiency. do you have to replace the removed hedges elsewhere or at all?? here in ireland now for every metre you take out you have to replace ut with two metres elsewhere

Love everything about this channel. Banter, machinery, and explaining the choices you make. Cheers.
James and cousin Michael make a fantastic team, these guys know how to grow crops ❤

Fantastic content as always but most impressed this time by your dog’s ability to judge the turning radius of a set of rolls that big!

Thanks james for another open update really is good of you showing the good along with little set backs
Great video Jamie enjoy your banter with cousins Michael with your very interesting conversations. It would be nice if you could have an PX Farm's open day so us fans of your channel could come and have a look around the farming operations and meet the team🙏🤞👌
Love the comment about joining the army and starting as a General 😂
Brilliant update once again. 👌👍

PX FARMS VERY PROFESSIONAL FARMER'S. 🤙 🦊
We aren't far from Bedford, and got a lot more than the predicted 31mm rain, at least double that. And it's not stopped raining yet.

Hi, I saw in your older videos that you grew potatoes and sugar beets. Seems like you stopped growing them? If so, could you explain why?
Great as always.Nice to see the new Monster at Work
"I passed first time" "You would" 😂😂😂😂
Well done James for taking my comment serious with dave sitting on the dumper whilst being loaded. It’s good that you chased it with NFU and got the response that will benefit the future without HSE on your back.
And sorry for the hassle of having to get comment checked by NFU. I’m not a hater just helping :)

James. A map of where the farms are in their counties would help visualise where you farm Regards. Peter. Kent farmer
James, Weight comparison with Michael is not comparing apples with apples, as cousin Michael is somewhat taller than you. ✔✔
Very informative videos thank you. Question, why do cereal crops get stored predominantly in stores as opposed to bins?
What's with the giant rocketeer poster? That was the first film I watched at the cinema great film 👍
Has he ever done a farm tour/ machinery tour as it appears to be a great size operation
Great video James. Can you explain more about pre merge & what it chems it entails. Thanks 👍🇮🇪🇺🇸

Seem to remember one of your daf cf having the rear wheels coming loose on the a12 at capel st mary a few years ago if my memory serves me right
Cambridge rolls were invented by WJ Cambridge of Bristol. I have a horse drawn one with his name and that he had patented them, cast in the end plate.
Do you have a workshop at each unit? I can't get my head around the logistics of all the units, how do the drill wheels stick 50+k up the road ?
