    You’re such an amazing, clear and thorough teacher! Thank you for helping me better understand zeroing reasons and how tos! I hope you keep doing more demo videos like this. ❤❤❤

    Totally forgot about the live stream today. Glad you have it recorded so I can replay it later -- when my brain turns back on.
    Someone asked about repeatability/tolerance: I have the Pro 2x2 with 3.25hp PC router and even if I turn off power, I can't physically move the X or Y axes. (The weight of the router causes the Z axis to drop) So when I turn things back on, I only have to reset the Z to zero. It's a very rigid machine. When I hit "go to zero" the macine hits it's mark every time. I've seen hobby machines (Shapeoko, Xcarve) lose their position even with power to the steppers during a bit change.

    Thanks for hosting this session. Nice job! I learned a few new things about the corner touch plate. Looking forward to the next one.

    My CNC controller software, NewRAD CNC v 1.3 uses 2 cameras to zero the X and Y automatically. Just click the "Go" button. Nice hair, by the way.

    Still trying to get my new cpr 4896 up and running, the only way i could get it to zero to the lower left corner was to change the x zero position to the x positive, but when i started my test g code program the x axis was going the opposite direction the program showed it was going. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    does mach4 have an option to set a second home position..?
    let me explain...first thing in the morning i home the machine...then i have to jog the spindle out of the way every time i need to set or remove work from the spoilboard... i would like to hit a button and have the machine always move to a location out of the way i after ive set home position.

    While this video was great, I feel like someone should compare/contrast Mach with homing/zeroing in LinuxCNC. I added separate home switches to my 60120, offset several inches from the limit switches on X/Y. Not sure if Mach can take advantage of that but under LinuxCNC this means I can seek home at 250IPM without worrying about smashing the end stops due to inertia.

    So after I zero my machine to the material surface, If it continues to ghost cut above the material what is the issue?

    • @AvidCNC
      @AvidCNC  3 роки тому

      If you set your zero on your machine to the surface of the material, but in your program you set the zero to the spoilboard then when you run your program the machine "thinks" the material surface is the spoilboard, thus resulting in air passes. We recommend double checking the job set up in your file to confirm the Z-zero location.

      @@AvidCNC I have checked and its set to material surface in VCarve Pro, and Im using the touch plate on material surface. Will triple check again tomorrow at work, but pretty sure thats not causing the problem. Could it have anything to do with G54 Offset that is set to a random number I cant figure out why its set there either, or how to delete it. No idea if these are related. Very new to this. Sorry.
