@@beareffect3314 So to my knowledge, around the Lies For The Liars/Artwork era he got vocal surgery. It was also a thing that he would throw up on stage a lot, maybe specifically after screaming. So it's likely the screaming was the source of the vocal damage. He most doesn't scream (much) to protect his voice.

He stopped screaming actively sometime after 2007... or during touring of 2007... he had some major issues with his voice because of extensive touring and improper Technique. He had to choose not to scream or stop singing at all if carried on screaming the way he did. So this is not some new development really. Some singers from that era still can scream and some can't anymore. But in all cases difficulties happened before anyone hit 40 really. Which is not that old. Manson and Corey Taylor come to mind as well... But I am glad Bert's cleans sound pretty consistent... though his screams back in the day sounded pretty impeccable.

@@timsunderland5153 i mean he still does it in the studio on their new songs all the fucking time. studio is a much more controlled environment than on stage, he can take a break after recording screams to rest his voice. live, he can't do that, so he chooses to avoid screaming live so he can still sing. but yeah, listen to Toxic Positivity, he's screaming ALL OVER that album.

Man sorry to say it no longer sounds right. Bert's voice way too high pitched and sounds like a little girl is singing these jawns. These guys were the best back in the day, I'll always love them but prolly time to retire live performance sounds pretty bad.
What a terrible performance.. Bass player can barely scream or hold any kind of vocal tune down. Berts voice has long gone. This band was never the same after Quinn was kicked out. They are just not even close to what they used to be. So sad.
They could've just sing any song that's not from the first record. It's fine. They have like 8 other records that im sure fits berts voice now. Most screamo bands experience this like funeral for a friend and hopesfall. But yeah stop trying to please the fans. You got to do whats best for you as an artist. It does look so sad.
