      @@amandalittlecott Thank you. Does the program deal with duplicate files and sort them?

    • @amandalittlecott
      @amandalittlecott  Рік тому

      @@abdullahajam2281 unfortunately it doesn't get rid of duplicates at the same time but I do have a solution for that, check out Photosweeper, here is a little video about it ua-cam.com/video/vpaPl2wzyQ0/v-deo.html 😁

    I really appreciate these videos. I’m just getting started with organizing and your software recommendations are very helpful. Will BMFM work within Apple photos? Meaning can it read and move folders from within Apple Photos all at once or do I need to move to a different destination and then back? Also, any idea if this will have any negative effect on the Shared Library? I share with my spouse and wouldn’t want these to be removed from the shared library just because I moved them to folders.

      Firstly sadly BMFM will not work with Apple Photos, it will only work with files that are outside any app, sorry!
      So when it comes to the shared library that is not a problem, but also note when you move photos to folders / albums in Apple Photos they will still stay in the stream of main photos and the album version is like a ghost copy of your photos (but not a true duplicate) to help you find and sort your photos easily. 😁

      @@amandalittlecott Thank you! When I said Apple Photos, I was thinking more of the folder on my Mac rather than the app itself. It would just be nice to have some organization to that folder, even though in the phone app itself will still keep everything in a stream.

      @@pkolb79 oh yes absolutely it would work a dream on that folder. If you want to export your photos out of Apple Photos you can either export out of Apple Photos through the export function but my favourite is Photos Takeout (check it out as an option ua-cam.com/video/x2yxsjGLhoE/v-deo.html) it is a dream! 😁

    Does The Big Mean Folder Machine work for organizing videos (.MOV) as well?

    • @amandalittlecott
      @amandalittlecott  Рік тому

      Yes it does but there is a little bit of a workaround I do first if your creation dates are not correct, as for videos they don't have a photo shoot date, so I use a Better Finder Attributes (ua-cam.com/video/QkW1ozwuVxU/v-deo.html) from the same people as The Big Mean Folder Machine and change the creation date to the Quick Time Date (the video version of the Photo Shoot date) and then sort with the Big Mean Folder Machine. Then yes you can sort videos!

    I love BMFM. I now want it on my windows installation as well. But it seems it's only available for Mac. Does anybody know a similar tool for windows?

    • @amandalittlecott
      @amandalittlecott  Рік тому

      Yes as you can see I am in the BMFM fan club for sure, but yes it is for Mac only. The best equivalent for PC that I have found for the PC, which is sadly only photo focused, is PhotoMove. Nowhere near as epic, unfortunately! 🙃
