Nicely done on the research! As you mentioned, reliability was the cars main issue it had. On a bigger scale is getting said talent moving up the ranks with VW, specifically in South Africa. Gugu Zulu made the 9n known in Africa due to his wins with the car. Surprisingly, his car did not suffer from reliability issues - what I can remember of. A little nugget of info, VWSA ran a mk4 with a mk5 gti engine - it was for r&d.
I feel like you're doing the same for the 9n as what I'm doing with the word *_Yes._* :) And as much as I like the Clubsport, I must say that the trio of rally cars that you and your dad could have in the future would look so cool
I have to say, the 9n isn't anything to write home about yet you make it so interesting, I've learned so much about a car I ended up not buying thanks to your channel and I'm thankful that a channel such as yours exists. Loving and being interested in your own car is the most important thing about being a car guy, in my opinion of course.
Appreciate the kind words! I find it fun looking for all the interesting stuff on cars that I wouldn't otherwise know, so no place better to start than my own car!
Very good video, thanks for that. As the sorry owner of a Mk6 Golf GTI, you gave me a bit of a wry smile when you said, "reliability issues" - not the first time those words have accompanied the word "Volkswagen" in the same sentence. Thanks again for the video as well, I did not even know there was a JWRC. I was in love with WRC back in early 2000's when you had the legends such as Makinen, Solberg, Sainz, Gronholm and so on. The cars (and drivers) are so boring nowadays, they all look the same. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate it! Haha it's a shame, but my 9n has actually been very reliable so happy with it thus far. I also loved rally through the early 2000s/late 90s, but funnily enough still actually like the cars today for their raw speed (I'm definitely less interested now though)
Had an 03 9n 1.4 16valve Sport. Was a nippy little thing but wasn't reliable. Had a 6n 16 valve sport with BBS Solitude alloys and Morette quad headlamp. Looked brilliant in satin silver . Would love to do the same and have something very special.

I'm 16 turning 17 November and I'm going to do apprenticeship so around August I start I will buy a polo 9n and I will practice in it and have it for my first😊 Never really liked the polos with them head lights but its grown on me becuz of videos, the ppp series is amazing u genuinely inspired me to get a polo😭
I did - there's a company in Denmark making them for the 9n3 in fibreglass (found on Facebook) and there's a company in Latvia which have the 9n front section and rear bumper!
Ah the 9n3? I can definitely have a look, I've got one more 9n to do then I'll be looking at other cars regardless, so that's a fair shout to add to the list!
Hello thank you I have a question for you, my polo 9n 2003 sdi 1.9 I have the Steering wheel is hard sometimes and soft sometimes! Please if someone else has the good reply thanks.
@@CarsWithJB Sad thing it is my mother's daily and I don't have neither tools nor knowledge. But the latter is why I love your channel. Gotta get that knowledge ;)
I did not know of most of this! I've seen a video via Facebook of a guy rallying a what I believe is a 9n3 who is from South Africa. Possibly in 2010 m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10216564857055170&id=1271121758 try this link it might not work though
The body kit on the 9n looks fantastic, would love to fit it on to my own car. Those wide arches really make the car stand out.
Really does look sick, definitely a fan, would love it too!
maybe you can find custom body kits available to buy and homolocated ?
the bodykit can be bought quite easily online. Both S1600 and S2000. My polo has a S2000 bodykit with the facelifted headlights.
@@jvd_rx where?

I love these videos about the rarer 9n polos, I think you should keep doing these because they’re absolutely brilliant
Glad you like them! A few more rare 9ns to feature, don't worry about that
Cars With JB sweet, something to watch stuck inside!
I feel like you're doing the same for the 9n as what I'm doing with the word *_Yes._* :)
And as much as I like the Clubsport, I must say that the trio of rally cars that you and your dad could have in the future would look so cool
Haha no way, you've done a lot more for the word yes than I could ever do for the 9n! But agreed - a 9n rally car alongside the 206 and R5 would bang!
This looks like the start of a series where you run us through the rally history of popular hatchback cars.....
Thinking about it, can only run on rare 9ns for so long!
Cars With JB starting with my Honda jazz??
Great idea, would love to hear JB's research!!
Hvala.
will there be more polo 9n content ?

Nice video dude!!we love that car in Greece im an owner of 9n3 and still there so much of this out on the roads!!
Stunning stuff, I've never seen a 9n S1600 in the flesh but I'd really like to!
Hi again JB I'm 12 years old and I watch these car stuff because there addicting nice vid like always
Cheers boss, appreciate the continued support!
still alive ?
you're making great videos, i imagine these require an incredible amount of resarch so keep it up bro! you're amazing

as an overly proud 9n owner, I´m loving these videos! I want more!!!!1!!!
Haha I have at least one more 'lost' 9n video to come, so be ready for that!
I m from Indonesia and driving Polo 9n, love this video 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Ah cool stuff, glad you liked it!
This Car Was Also Built As A Super 2000 Car Which Was Driven By Freddy Loix At The 2007 Ypres Rally
The Colin mcrae 3 game had the polo 9n3😋.
Well done on the Vid and research!
I vaguely remember seeing it! Cheers as always boss 🤙🏽

Haha that's mad - glad I've had an impact! I hope the 9n treats you well 🤙🏽
At least you’re not getting a corsa
I have a black Polo 9N its my first car and I absolutely love my baby. Only thing I would say don’t go for the 3 cylinder 1.2 it can barely move
Great content! Cheers
Love the flared guards. So much want 🤤
Honestly, if I can get the full kit, I'm quite certain I'd turn the Polo into a rally car!
Loved this. Any plans to do similar videos on other small cars?
Absolutely - been writing a list and once I've done one more rare 9n, I'll start moving onto them instead!
Is it just me or do all the polos after the 9n look boring 🤷♂️
I think Polos go through stages, the 9n used to look boring to me too but it's grown on me massively as it's gotten older!
Cars With JB definitely the case, the same with lots of VAG cars. They often look disappointing on release but age very well.
for me 9n3 or 6n look boring af, but 9n with ring lights r beautiful like pop-up lights
Was the 9n3 version any better?
Good question - I don't know, I'll no doubt do the research sooner or later!
Yeah nah yeah forget the r25 and gti 9n, think a phat 9n wide body with a big engine build should definitely be the way forward for your project 👀
Definitely where my head is at rn - would need a new daily though!
@@CarsWithJB and if you want a splitter that looks similar to those used on the road stage versions, look into the 2000 corsa splitters
👌👌
Cheers!
Really miss my 9N. I wish i could have kept it and mayne done an engine swap and wider track. Maybe a few other bits
Here i Belgium theres a Rallycross class for this car theres about 12 of them.
Really?! I need to check this out...
I’m actually looking at building my 9n3 to a spec similar to the S2000. Did you actually find the bodykit online? Been looking for it for ages!
I did - there's a company in Denmark making them for the 9n3 in fibreglass (found on Facebook) and there's a company in Latvia which have the 9n front section and rear bumper!
Cars With JB Awesome, will have to have a look, can you remember the name by any chance?
I Love This Polo, I Don't Know Why It Didn't Do So Well?
Will you be doing the VW polo Karmann? (it’s the only 9N concept I remember from VW days) Also a video on the best polo out there 6N2 GTi haha
Ah the 9n3? I can definitely have a look, I've got one more 9n to do then I'll be looking at other cars regardless, so that's a fair shout to add to the list!
Do One Of The Alfa Romeo 147 S1600
Hello thank you
I have a question for you, my polo 9n 2003 sdi 1.9
I have the Steering wheel is hard sometimes and soft sometimes!
Please if someone else has the good reply thanks.
Hmm strange - does it have a city mode? This happened to a friend of mine in her Hyundai, and turned out it had a city mode with softer steering
I would love to build a car to a rally championship standard just to race some of those roads
Would be so sick - I'd love to build one to take to rally events with my dad and his cars!
@@CarsWithJB future video idea 🤷♂️

hello fellow 9n owners
From 3:08 is the look I want to go for with my 9n.

This Car Never Appeared In The British Rally Championship After 2001
car throttle called the polo 9n a drab fox.
I know what you're referring to but I think they actually were calling the VW Fox drab, rather than the 9n a drab fox!
@@CarsWithJB yeah that would make sense.i didnt know about the volkwagen fox until now.
i would love that widebody on mine
Same - the Maxi kit is so sick!
@@CarsWithJB yeah ur idea to have that on your polo needs to happen
Get it built
It would almost be rude not to
1.8t swap or the 6n2 gti 1.6 and turbo it?
220 bhp out of a 1600 n/a engine? Or was they turbo'd?
Naturally aspirated - part of the S1600 rules!
Sad that it had a good story in the rally days now today it’s just a young driver car (just like mine that totals 173k km today)
Who remembers this from Colin Mcrae Rally 2005?
This is my first car
Looks a lot like a Lupo GTI
Yeah good shout, with the wheel arches
Where can you get the body kit from ?
www.ewrc-results.com/cars/91-volkswagen-polo-s1600/ best website to get the information about this car
