Yes that’s what he was trying to pronounce and we are glad they are open to trying things as you never know if you like something or not if you don’t try
Great to see you try out those tropical fruits you've found at the Salcedo Market. That fruit's name is Soursop or Guyabano is also a great fruit with tarty-sweet taste and a bit slimy in texture with segments as well. You have to consume it when it's ripe, that's the more ideal way to munch it. Whilst you found the durian expectedly unpleasant at all, it is odd that it happens to be one of my favorite fruits actually. For a first-timer like you or with any other foreigners or individuals for that matter, the strong, overpowering pungent smell is too overwhelming indeed. But for those who are used to its unusual flavor and striking odor, it's kinda natural already, otherwise it's not being sold at the market. But may I suggest that you should try other durian by-products like pasties, ice cream, candies etc., then I'll bet you'd definitely like them instead since the acrid smell is no longer present on those. PS. This upcoming summer season, maybe you could try other popular PH fruits you would normally find in any local market, such as Lanzones, Spanish Plums (Siniguelas), Chesa, Chico, Black Plum (Duhat), Cotton Fruit (Santol), Carambola, Java Apple (Macopa), Camachile among others, in addition to the Star Apple that you've seen from there.

There are different types of durian. There’s a custardy/sweeter one which is what most people like. If ever you’ll give it another chance, go to Davao during Durian season (cheaper) and ask your tour guide to buy the yummiest version - custardy and sweet. They say it’s like ice cream when frozen/cold. It’s hard to find one here in manila unless you know how to check. Fruits have different types Just like mango- there’s ripe one but sour; ripe and sweet; green but ripe and sweet inside; red and sweet; then the unripe green and sour.

The green heart-shaped fruit with spikes around it is called Soursop or Guyabano in Tagalog. It is not something you put in a soup but you eat the way you eat the longan, mangosteen and marang. It has a mixture of sweetness and sourness. Have you tried a large papaya yet? Hope to see more fruits and Filipino foods taste test as you continue exploring the country. It's good fun watching you all try the fruits, even when you knew that you dislike the texture. Plus you got some vitamins and nutrients for the day. Usually I love many types of fruits. However, I'm undecided about durian as I don't know if I've eaten it enough. Had the candy version and didn't like it as it had a sweet smell, but I was still able to smell something weird about it. Perhaps individual brands have different taste. As someone mentioned that there are different types of durians, so this could affect the taste. Or it could be like stinky cheeses that no matter how many times I tried it from the stalls or forgot it was in the dish, I haven't acquired the taste. What I learned here is many of them will taste better with added sweetness as a fruit shake. 😆
Great to see the kids always willing to try everything :) I remember recommending Star Apples (Kaimito) before but i don't think they're in season yet. They're usually around in summer. Would also recommend Lanzones and also Atis. Atis has lots of seeds though, so you have to spit them our while eating. Atis also has a custardy texture but taste really nice. :)
the spiky green one you've bought is called Guyabano. I would like to recommend to you trying Avocado. just peel it up, get all the meat, put brown sugar and milk, mush it up manually or using a blender. I would also recommend to you trying Atis. it's a fruit. I believe it's called Sugar Apple or Custard Apple in english. There's also Siniguelas, Camachili, Caymito or Star Apple in english, and also Duhat. its looks dark violet in color. its eaten with salt. then the, Hinog na Sampalok or ripe Tamarind in it's shell ( fresh from it's shell ) and lastly Aratilis. it's a very small round fruit like cherries. you can't find and buy this fruit anywhere. You can just ask from someone who owns or know about the tree. Most of the time, it just grows anywhere and most of the time no one owns the tree.

The Philippine Mango also known as cabarao mango is recognized as the sweetest mango in the world by Guinness World Record.
Good to see you try fruits you'll never see in the northern part of the globe. I can dig up some tiny history here why Sinigang, for example, came into existence on Filipinos' kitchen table. Little kids, especially when houses were still far apart like to visit their friends' backyards or neighbors. They climb fruit trees, eat mansanitas, kaimitos, duhat, tamarind, etc. Most times they eat them raw like green mangoes and neutralize the taste with pinches of salt. Which explains why the sour taste is not alien to their palate. Green mango is eaten occasionally like snack when whiling the time away, or when people feel like eating it. The not-so-sour ones are sometimes served in many parties. It's got good nutritional value, needless to say, like many fruits do.
The spiky green one is Soursop. So many health benefits. Taste like between custard, pears and pineapple. It's sweet & sour. You can add milk to make a fruitshake
I think you can only truly eat durian if you had it during your childhood and no one told you how bad it smelled. So I ate it without knowing the preconceived notions -- and enjoyed it. If I tried it as an adult, I may not have liked it. So if Filipinos eat it, it's because we ate different types of fruits (and food) growing up.
@@wistlfamilyadventures Just to add, some may not have liked it during our childhood but the memory of eating it returns and as an adult, they suddenly enjoy it for the memory and hopefully the taste, too. It's the same concept as not liking veggies as a kid but now absolutely like eating veggies as the food was experienced during childhood. And nostalgia kicks in. I'd say, culture is food, and food is culture.
Durian is an acquired taste and really takes a lot of getting used to the smell. I’m from Davao City, we pride ourselves with good durian BUT I, myself, cannot, for the life of me, eat it. Hahaha. The tummy would go on ballistic mode every time I try eating some.
The green one is Guyabano or Soursop in English it's very sour so if you like sour fruit then that's a win for you. I looove Mangosteen its delish and very nutritious. I don't like Durian it's smells like fart 😂
hi! love that you enjoy the fruits we have here but additional info about the mangoes, we actually have different types of mangoes some of it you can eat ripe but most it you can eat it better while it’s green like the Indian mangoes or the apple mangoes this you can eat slightly ripe, then the carabao mangoes it’s better to eat it ripe because it’s too sour. Hope you try it with bagoong as a challenge. The sweet bagoong ( shrimp paste)can be bought in the grocery’s it helps in removing the sourness of the fruit 😊. Enjoy ❤
I am grateful for this video because your child is not "maarte sa pagkain" i dont know whats the best term for maarte and I love the way you vlog Because other people overreact when they dont know the food and yea thats why i subscribed you guys more content please😁, btw your gorgeous.
The best way to eat durian is to mix it with condensed milk then freeze it. The smell will be gone and the flavor and texture will be very lovely, like an exotic ice cream.
durian is an acquired taste once you get used to it you'll crave for it, i think its a psychological thing because of the way people describe it? but all of the people in mindanao just love the smell and taste, marang the fruit you ate before durian is the one i hate lol
not alll in mindanawans loves durian. Yes, it's very acquired taste. But it's safe to say a whooolllleeeeee lot of us loves it. There are two varieties I love eating the most. I just don't know what they are called because i don't pay attention to it.
Durian fruits are available at the fruit stands here in Mindanao.Durian icecream are also at the freezers the supermarkets when its season.I find it the most delicious flavor. Guyavano mangosten ,lanzones ,marang ,mangoes are all abundant here too in Mindanao ,and many other fruits .

The green is soursop or guyabano. Once it's soft, peel, and hand peel the fruit, remove the seeds. Blend with water and sugar to taste. Add ice. Guyabano shake. or freeze as popsicles. Or eat it straight raw. Health benefits of guyabano or soursop are amazing.
Hi! Wistl Family, all tropical fruit that you tasted are my old time favorite , for the first timer, eating durian have a foul odor. but at the end you will miss durian...😀😀😀
I know Durian is an acquired taste, however, I LOVE IT SO MUCH... most especially when it is chilled!!!!!!! MANGOSTEEN is another favorite of mine, and so is Marang and Guyabano (a.k.a. Soursop). Rambutan season starts by September..
@@cathylavilla8968 I stand corrected. I was thingking about Longkong/Langsat 😂
the green one is guayabano. When it's ripe (soft), you can peel it, take the seeds out and make it into shake. It's full of antioxidant.
I love this family
Salamat po
The children Really enjoying and feel free
Yes they are
I hated Durian when I was a kid, but as I grew older, I liked it and could eat much already. I'm glad you tried it, at least, 😄
Wow Thankyou for this
The guyabano is called soursop in English. It's a super fruit. You can make it into juice.
We will have to try
There daddy is looking so humble and good man ❤❤❤ O hope and pray for your happiness and more more subscribers 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thankyou for such kind words 🧡
I’m early bird today ❤😍
🎉🎉🎉
The spiky green one is Soursop. So many health benefits. Taste like between custard, pears and pineapple. It's sweet & sour. You can add milk to make a fruitshake
I think you can only truly eat durian if you had it during your childhood and no one told you how bad it smelled. So I ate it without knowing the preconceived notions -- and enjoyed it. If I tried it as an adult, I may not have liked it. So if Filipinos eat it, it's because we ate different types of fruits (and food) growing up.
That’s interesting
@@wistlfamilyadventures Just to add, some may not have liked it during our childhood but the memory of eating it returns and as an adult, they suddenly enjoy it for the memory and hopefully the taste, too. It's the same concept as not liking veggies as a kid but now absolutely like eating veggies as the food was experienced during childhood. And nostalgia kicks in. I'd say, culture is food, and food is culture.
Such a adorable kids! Keep safe and God bless.
You are so kind
I don’t eat durian fruit ✌️but I really love durian candy 😀 🇵🇭🏴
That’s crazy
Also try atis, Chico, melon tagalog, caimito-star apple, guava and mabolo 😋
🧡
it's okay, not every filipino likes durian 🧡💜💙
🧡🧡🧡
It smells disgusting but tastes really good
Yea im a filipino but i don't like durian i mean i like the taste but the texture and smell ..it's a no for me 😝
I am filipino and I think durian is disgusting. My wife seems to like it.
Durian is Expensive. Those that hate Durian are poor.
i love this family ❤
Durian is an acquired taste and really takes a lot of getting used to the smell. I’m from Davao City, we pride ourselves with good durian BUT I, myself, cannot, for the life of me, eat it. Hahaha. The tummy would go on ballistic mode every time I try eating some.
Yes it sure is an acquired taste
😁always bring wipes when you go out it’s very helpful.
Good tip!
The green one is Guyabano or Soursop in English it's very sour so if you like sour fruit then that's a win for you. I looove Mangosteen its delish and very nutritious. I don't like Durian it's smells like fart 😂
We are on the same page 🙏🧡
hi! love that you enjoy the fruits we have here but additional info about the mangoes, we actually have different types of mangoes some of it you can eat ripe but most it you can eat it better while it’s green like the Indian mangoes or the apple mangoes this you can eat slightly ripe, then the carabao mangoes it’s better to eat it ripe because it’s too sour. Hope you try it with bagoong as a challenge. The sweet bagoong ( shrimp paste)can be bought in the grocery’s it helps in removing the sourness of the fruit 😊. Enjoy ❤
That is guyabano a very sour but lots of benefits to our health
Very interesting
I am grateful for this video because your child is not "maarte sa pagkain" i dont know whats the best term for maarte and I love the way you vlog Because other people overreact when they dont know the food and yea thats why i subscribed you guys more content please😁, btw your gorgeous.
The best way to eat durian is to mix it with condensed milk then freeze it. The smell will be gone and the flavor and texture will be very lovely, like an exotic ice cream.
Very interesting
The last fruit you show is guyabano. Sweet and sour in taste. Its delicious
Good to know!
durian is an acquired taste once you get used to it you'll crave for it, i think its a psychological thing because of the way people describe it? but all of the people in mindanao just love the smell and taste, marang the fruit you ate before durian is the one i hate lol
Wow it shows the difference in peoples tastes
guyabano is one of my favorite delish!
not alll in mindanawans loves durian. Yes, it's very acquired taste. But it's safe to say a whooolllleeeeee lot of us loves it. There are two varieties I love eating the most. I just don't know what they are called because i don't pay attention to it.
The green one with small spikes is guyabano. Source of vitamin c.
I love most fruits except durian i like marang better than durian
Agree Marang instead of durian
typically, fruit season is roughly between july-august. At least for us in Mindanao/davao
Always good to know
Durian fruits are available at the fruit stands here in Mindanao.Durian icecream are also at the freezers the supermarkets when its season.I find it the most delicious flavor.

New subscriber here,,from phippines ,,working in kuwait....Happy to see your in my beloved country enjoy and take care.
Rebecca you made me laugh so hard! 🤣🤣🤣
You should try Lanzones. It is so good!
I think we did
I now have to find more videos of your kids trying things in Philippines.
Hi! Wistl Family, all tropical fruit that you tasted are my old time favorite , for the first timer, eating durian have a foul odor. but at the end you will miss durian...😀😀😀

The green fruit is sweet sop (guyabano) i think the lady said is to put the sweet sop inside the rice bin so it will ripen fast.
Thanks for the tips!
5:20 that's a Guyabano fruit. It's sweet and sour fruit packed with vitamins and antioxidants..

I know Durian is an acquired taste, however, I LOVE IT SO MUCH... most especially when it is chilled!!!!!!! MANGOSTEEN is another favorite of mine, and so is Marang and Guyabano (a.k.a. Soursop). However, I never have tried BALUT, nor will I ever. I am glad you guys at least tried Balut and the many Philippine fruits.
