17:35 the coconut you got, the coconut water on that one is actually not for drink (i mean you can drink it, but we don't usually drink the water from the brown one as it is more mature), and the coconut shred you got, it is actually used for cooking more often than eaten straight.
the coconut that can be drink and where you can also eat the coconut flesh is the color green one.
we call the coconut brown one 'niyog' and the green coconut one is 'buko'. so if you want to get a real taste of the coconut fruit, buy the buko one!

The mature coconut is brown and used for cooking while the young coconut is buko eating it straight and drinking. The green fruit with spikes is soursop in english and called guyabano in filipino language.Santol should not be peeled thinly and the seed should be eaten just like the rambutan.

the grinded coconut, if you squeeze it with hot water, it becomes coconut milk, or you could but it in a blender with water and then strain it. if you cook it until it becomes brown, it becomes sugared coconut that goes well with any rice cakes, you could even eat it with tteok if you want (i tried it before, my auntie made it). when you cook it until it becomes brown, there will be some oil from the coconut, which you can use for cooking OR you can use it to oil your hair if it is dry.
if you want fresh coconut juice with softer meat, you should look for green coconuts.

The brown Coconut you bought ( with peeled off skin ), is what we call "niyog", which are days old, or weeks old coconut. The water in it may be a little sour and sweet compared to the younger coconuts, and usually the water and the meat is good for cooking.
Maybe the one you were looking for is the young coconut, still with skin, still with sweet water and meat inside, we just call it "buko". That's the one you can drink and eat the meat readily, or when you ask assistance from the buko seller.

You guys are funny opening the matured coconut 🥥. Tip in opening it, don't use the sharp edge and tap it hard with the blunt side of the knife rotate around 90° Angle and tap it again hard. Repeat it again while continuously rotating 90° around 4 hard tap it would break open.
