Diamond P with Dave McClelland and Steve Evans, 1/4 mile nitro racing, great memories at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Kenny Bernstein eventually winning four straight FC championships, and a guy named John Force looking for his first event win. This was the golden era of drag racing. I normally don't watch nearly 2 hour long videos, but man, I was hooked and watched this non-stop. Thanks for posting.
Super Al from South Easton, our home town hero! Al can drive, so much so that he drove everyone's car. Who we gonna get to drive? They called Al! They didn't call him because he couldn't drive. Thanks Al! You put us on the map, we never forget! Land of NED number 1. Win or loose, Super Brut forever!
I was there for most of the Big Bud Funny Car Shootouts plus the race. Very Fortunate. Miss a lot of the old guys and gals. Hooked on Nitro for life. Even if I have to watch from a chair today.
It seemed more focused on the cars and less on the spectacle, less cookie cuter too. It helped to have Steve Evans and Dave McLelland calling the action. It still had ties to the beginning of the sport, and that respect and authenticity comes through in Snake and all the great racers. Love this stuff.
I might be 26 years old born in 1994 but I’m a big history guy and a drag racer. Indy has an aura to it when you pull in the gates and it’s a great feeling being a racer there and or a fan.
I was on the crew of the smokin Joe's mustang in 1996 and was on the track for the 8 car photo !!! Still have the Bud hat with all 8 drivers autographs!!!😀😀😀🍺🍺🍺🍺
Crazy and hard to belive that one of these modern machines, now make twice the power... of two of these old machine put together. That's 4 times the power of these old girls.. crazy.
And....... any of the THEME music used by Diamond P and other sports outlets are on the APM and KPM music channels. Or simply type diamond P music. Enjoy the memories.
As much as I loved Steve Evans, he would say some stupid shit to racers from time to time.. Hawley KNEW he won and was pissed that Evans was trying to discourage him... "The Race ISN'T OVER YET"... Class act...

"Steve Evans"...nuff said I'm watching.
Makes me feel like a kid. I love these old races. But again, the bravery to get in one of these cars back then cannot be talked about enough.
Love the Fleetwood Mac tunes included!

Great stuff. Thanks for the upload.
Love the looks of those 80's Floppers, those dry hopps. Fantastic
Thank you, great editing! So awesome to watch as a kid who got bit by the drag bug in the early 90s!
Love the vintage content!
So much more entertaining than that stuff today, just love the 70s 80s drag racing .
One might make the argument that they did MORE with 2000 hp THEN than they do with 10000 hp NOW...
I do agree with that for sure. 1320 or nothing for me.

I remember the bud shootout was a race within a race. My dad and I couldn't wait. Pomona was awesome for the bud shootout in the 80s.
