Fun London seems nice, never thought I'd say it :p. Their scene has always been a first or close second just as self serving as the Americas :)

"I'm pretty sure it's Amy Winehouse" 🙂 That image is of the 1964 kitsch classic painting 'Tina' by J. H. Lynch
yup, my mum had a print in the kitchen. Always irritated me how he'd done the hair, just didn't make sense

I started skating in the year 2000 in London.
2 shops stand out for me in my early days were cide and slam city skates.
Big shout out to slam city for when I went into the shop because one of my buddies was buying some duff shoes and the worker looked at my board and said what the f##k is that. Lol he gave me 2 spare boards.
Another shop that was awesome because of its location was route one in PlayStation skatepark/66.
Also I remember 2002-03 a 8inch board was a monster of a size and no shop really stocked 8"plus.
Even to this day I still skate 7.50 and no shop stocks that size anymore 😂.
Best deck brand for me always would be heroin.
Trucks.... Tensors
Wheels... Heroine or spits
Barrings...bones reds
❤👊
Cide was great, Greg Finch running that place made it great, but running a skateshop is so difficult money wise. Greg now works at Palace on the office side. Funnily enough, all the Palace boys lived on the same street that Cide was on (Lower Marsh). Cheap rent apparently, £200 a month in London which is unimaginable now
this guy at the scum shop ahahahaha

Scum is a really wack brand.
Scum isn't like a proper proper skateshop. Better than circle collective in dalston but on the same wave, a boutique clothes shop with skateboards and a hardware cabinet.
And Three Amigos is on the other end of the spectrum, a quiet dusty cupboard. Feels like the backroom at an indoor park.
Skate shop scene in london is pretty much all whack though and it's not their fault. The rent and money makes it all a bit stale.
You go somewhere like the level shop in brighton or pmuch anywhere out of london and you'll find proper skate shops. Plenty of space to sit, plenty of people hanging out, videos playing in the background. Feels more like you're walking into a home than a shop
SB Skateshop was doing alright, same with Baddest in Brixton but now SB is gone and Baddest is struggling...
I really can't believe the description for the video reads "Thriving Skateboard retail scene" - skateshops are massively under pressure right now like a lot of other retail.
I work at a skate shop and you can tell from the kid in the palace hat he don't know anything about the products palace is a fashion brand and when he was talking about the decks didn't have anything to say just pointing out them talk to people about the products you stock don't just point them out makes you seem more interested and knowledgeable
Palace is massively respected in London. Also no mere "fashion" brand would support people like Jamal Smith or put out banging videos, or do product giveaways at actual grassroots level skate events and jams. However I guess that's London only...

tiny rock block the skater noise limitation, get a snowboard seems to be more fun
skating is too much noise less freedom than biking and have u seen happily smiled skaters like Kevin Peraza or Boyd Hidler
