Such a legend. Got to meet him when I was a kid at Tampa Pro. He was nice enough to sign my t-shirt & let me take a photo with him. Definitely something that I’ll never forget!
The ending 🤣Have always enjoyed Stefan's skate parts, his energy and enthusiasm, and his one of kind laid back style. How epic is it to be like, "I skate with Guy Mariano." Feels like a dream, and his story seems almost too good to be true. One critique is that despite not seeing darker sides of people, does not mean that they don't exist, and that it is normal to go through depression or addiction often linked to trauma. I understand that this is not what is being directly stated, however it made me feel that because people have not seen Stefan go through these areas, this slightly insinuates that if you can be a human that does not go through depression or addiction, you are on another level than other humans and this may explain your "success." My last thought; growing up in skateboard culture at a young age and watching Epicly later'd "later" in life has been pure joy to break through what is behind the lives of our favorite skateboarders and to peer inside the skateboard world beyond skate parts. Hugely appreciate the work of Patrick O'Dell and those that have brought these stories to life.
Hands down my favorite Epicly Later’d episode of all time. It truly warmed my heart and knowing he's doing so well is the cherry on top. impacted more people in this world than what they know. Incredible!!!
I remember watching this series on the main website every week back in '04 or so, finally getting to learn about all the skaters I idolized, especially the Baker team. I loved how freely all these guys lived. I'm so glad to see Patrick revived the series. I've skated at least 5-10 pairs of Janoskis and I still wear my Janoski Max's sometimes. Incredible shoe and guy
11:45 this double is absolutely insane for switch flip. Filmed a friend attempting ollie....clipped the 2nd set, slipped out and cracked the back of his head open on the last stair. Thats how gnarly this set is
Yeah that looked huge, never saw the clip before. Never thought of him as really gnarly skater just loved his chill flowy vibe but that double looked gigantic!
Great work Vice... Stefan is a really special skater, that switch back 50-50 was legendary... back in the day I see that trick sequence in a skate magazine. Their shoes the same, inmortal silhouette...
I met Stefan several times back in 2001 and I was rollerblader. We smoked weed together and partied together, he was the nicest guy ever, so friendly, no bullshit. I love to see how successful he's become. Much love to Stefan, keep shredding brother
Haven’t had a pair in years but I used to rock several color ways when I was younger. Might have to grab some more after watching this. Thank you Janoski!
Had the pleasure of meeting Stefan and his wife a few years ago at a canoe rental shop I worked at on the NorCal coast. They both were the most chill and lovely people ever. His vibe is so laid back, respectful, and friendly.
Great video production and quality and at 30 seconds, it looks like a super cool movie!! I definitely will be re-watching this video many times!! ✌️😎✌️
Such a sick episode! I’m hyped his shoe is back; I’ve skated like 20-25 pairs of them since the shoe came out in 2009. Stefan skated them in the 2010 Xgames if anyone remembers that. He deserves everything he’s got, no question about it!
I say this all the time. I think skateboarding may be one, if not the hardest sport on the planet. I got into skateboarding at like 5 years old when the x games started. Started skating, snowboarding, and bmxing/mtb dirt jumping, which I honestly chose over skating only because I'm way better with bikes. Like I can ride a skateboard... But I can't do all the things on one like I see in my mind like i can with bikes. It takes too much effort and ability 😂
Still have the pair of Janoski's that I bought when I was 17, I'm almost 27 now. I worked at a Nike store for my first job, we got some blue on white Janoski's in and I immediately loved them, got my discount and paid like $40 for them, insane nowadays. Have been a staple of mine the whole time. Starting to get a bit worn but I'll wear them till they fall apart, and then ill fix them and keep wearing them. Such a simple shoe that works with any outfit for almost any occasion, still comfy as hell all these years later, feels like I'm not wearing a shoe because I'm so used to them. Had a kid I worked with a couple years ago say, "dude are those Janoski's?" and I said hell yeah they are, I've had them since you were in elementary school lol. Had no idea who Stefan was when I bought them, just knew he was a skater but that's it, now I know he is a pretty fucking cool dude.
Yes! ❤️🔥 Great episode. I will never forget the feeling of skating my first pair of Janoski’s. In my opinion the best skate shoe to ever exist. Glad to see they’re back in production
I wish more people were like Stefan. I like to be very cheerful as well. I grew up around so many mopey people and I felt like I had to counter that with jokes and silliness to avoid ending up mopey too.
